Kane is right up my alley ...a Polynesian-inspired tiki bar and grill located at the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort. We stopped by for lunch and enjoyed our meal right on the beach, which made the whole experience feel like a tropical escape. We started with the poke tuna nachos super fresh with some avocado and eel sauce and jalapeños all around.. packed with flavor. My friend ordered a light salad, and we shared the chicken skewers and pork bao buns, both of which were delicious . Just a heads up if you're dining beachside , the birds can get a little too friendly, so keep an eye on your plate! read more

Kane was such a wonderful beachfront Polynesian restaurant to eat at for lunch! We sat right in front of the shoreline. Absolutely spectacular view. A bit hot at certain points though. I asked Josh to put up our umbrella. Every table has one. Josh was our server. He was funny and accommodating. We decided to get a few appetizers and things to share. We got the tuna poke nachos, pork belly bao buns, chicken satay and the crunchy Kane salad. The poke nachos consistency of the wonton chips was extremely crunchy and fresh. There were pieces of tuna, srirchaca lime aioli, avocado, scallions and jalapeños. I am very sensitive to spice, however I did not find this item to be spicy. The pork belly bao buns were also delicious! They came with honey garlic sauce, pickled onions, jalapeño, cucumber, green onions and sesame aioli. The chicken satay was FANTASTIC!!! They came as 5 skewers. The peanut sauce it came with was one of the best I've ever tried. Super creamy and peanutty. Made to perfection. The Kane salad was phenomenal and I loved the addition of the crunchy noodles. It came with mixed greens, red onions, bell peppers, carrots, cucumber, sesame seeds and a citrus vinaigrette. First night we were here and the lobby bar was packed and noisy at the J W Marriott, so we headed down to the Tiki Bar and I am glad we did. We visited everyday that week...lunch, drinks and dinner. The Pina Coladas with an extra shot were the best I've ever had. As was the PuPu platter...it would have fed four! We took the rest to our room and snacked on it for the next several days. The bartenders were exceptionally good. Prices were fair. I felt like I was in Hawaii instead of Florida. Just go...you can thank me later. read more

1st Visit: Nice tiki bar and restaurant right on the beach. We each had the pina coladas with an extra shot of dark spiced rum .. yum!! We then split chicken and beef skewers. We really enjoyed the flavor ... the peanut sauce was a great kick. The service was friendly! 2nd Visit: It took a while to get a table. It took even longer to get food. Almost 35 minutes and our food finally came. Food was okay, the service was the worst I've experienced at a luxury resort. Food took almost two hours, waters took 45 mins, half th food was room temp when it arrived and by the time the food arrived it was too dark to see and despite asking 3 times we never got lights and ended up eating under the iPhone flashlight so my kids could see their food. A very disappointing experience and one I think is way below the JW standards. They knocked some money off the bill, but that's not the point. We only get so many nights on vacation and this night was wasted because of the poor service. Ugh read more

We started with the shishito peppers appetizer, they were a good start but maybe a little overcooked as some were a bit mushy, I prefer mine crisper. Then we shared the watermelon and corn salad it was delicious but where was the watermelon? I would order it again but a bit puzzled that it's in the name only. My companion had the tofu power bowl which was delicious as well. I ordered a pork belly appetizer dish which had good flavor and included a soy dipping sauce but it didn't have anything else to add, had I looked at previous reviews I would order the bao instead for the bread factor. But over all the service was prompt and the food very good. For a hotel restaurant on the beach, it was repeat worthy. I like that it is on the beach and you can walk right up and all the tables were in the sand so kick off your shoes and dig your feet into it very beachy ambiance. The best part were the drinks, I don't think you can go wrong with any of these, they are strong and flavorful, we tried the Lights Out Turtle Season ( I liked this I ordered one for dessert) and the Tikila which was like a tropical margarita, both very good. My only criticism is too much ice, otherwise these are fantastic. read more

After a long drive we arrived at the JW Marriott Resort for our 8 day stay just in time for one of those south Florida sunsets. We grabbed a beachfront table at Kanes and ordered frozen drinks to kick off vacation properly. Ocean breezes and the gorgeous sand and waves make it a special place. My Pina Colada was exceptional and my husband's Miami Vice had real strawberry puree which is a plus. We ordered the Maui Fries which were delicious. Our server was a little less than attentive so instead of ordering a meal we jumped straight to dessert. The rum cake with ice cream was very good. Kanes is one of my favorite restaurants on Marco Island! Located at the JW Marriott, Marco Island resort, This tropical tiki hut brings all of the vibes, great service, and excellent food! There is a large tiki hut with plenty of bar seating and high top tables, along with a seating area that has regular tables outside of the tiki hut as well as unbelievable oceanfront dining with tables right in the sand and a perfect view of the sunset. This restaurant is so underrated. I don't understand why it's not busy or all the time but honestly that's good for me because I can always grab a seat at my favorite place! The menu is a bit interesting. It has a Asian flair to it, which is unique being beachfront. My favorite items include the chicken teriyaki bowl, the chicken wings, the Chicken dumplings and the most recently added peanut beef teriyaki skewers. But I will say my favorite item at this restaurant has got to be there piña coladas the best I have ever had ever!!!! Between the awesome service, incredible food, fair pricing for being located directly on the beach in such a beautiful spot and fun vibes with live music on most days this spot cannot be beat. Next time you are in Marco swing by and check out this local gem. You can park your car at the hotel $15 for self parking $25 for valet although they don't validate those are still pretty fair prices for being such an incredible location. We stopped here thinking we would get some fu n drinks and instead had some of the worst drinks we've experienced. They all tasted like soap or some kind of chemical. We mentioned they weren't very good and the waiter basically shrugged his shoulders and told us they are made in batches. Then he never returned to our table. My girlfriends and I went to the outside restaurant/bar to watch the fire dancer perform. We arrived at 5 to get a good seat and grab a bite before the show. First, there is no service outside so we had to go to the counter at the bar to order food and get drinks. Next, a waitress brought out our food and promptly left. She did not ask if we needed anything additional. We each ordered something different. One had the chicken sandwich, another had a salad with grilled chicken, another ordered the coconut shrimp and I unfortunately ordered the fish (Mahi) sandwich. None of the items were good! The worst of the food was the fish sandwich. The brioche bin was moldy, and the fish was covered in a spicy coating of black charred mixture and served with a nasty slaw of some kind. My friends chicken was fatty and stringy and the others' salad greens were slimy and wilted. My other friends shrimp were over cooked and burnt! While I informed the bartender that the bun was moldy on my sandwich none of my friends reported their bad food. Later that night, I experienced what I believe was food poisoning. I can say this with certainty bc I didn't have any other food or drink the rest of the night. I had all the usual symptoms of abdominal pain, then vomiting, diarrhea, and a slight fever. I awoke in the middle of the night to the worst stomach ache I have had in a long time. The diarrhea began first, followed by intense bloating and gas, then the vomiting! Let me start with saying that Kane needs to open early than 11:30.! Ok, got that out... This tiki bar is a short walk from the pool or the beach. Each day, we had our umbrellas and chairs set up on the beach for us and as soon as 11:30 came I am would stroll over and get two margaritas. The bartenders were fast and efficient help keep the stand by line moving. In addition to the margaritas, which were made with simple syrup and housemaid mixer, we would switch to piña colada's with a nice healthy rum floater. We usually eat out on the beach but one day we walked over and had lunch in the shade of the foliage and umbrellas. My wife had the wings which were a combination of sweet and heat and I had the hamburger. The great thing about being on vacation is that time was on our side and taking a short respite from the sun of the beach was perfect. read more

Outstanding location-- this is the bar that was in your tropical vacation dream. It's all outdoors. Stays open after sunset. Nothing between you and the beach. Open skies overhead. Strong, delicious mixed beach drinks. Comfortable seating. Low-key but consistent service. A long beachside pathway for that romantic stroll, or to try to walk off the buzz. What's to not like? It's a little hard to find if you're not staying at JW Marriott (head for the beach walkway). The prices go with the prime real estate. And it does (eventually) close for the night. We had to go to Kane, the Tiki Bar at the JW Marriott Marco Island because the drinks and service were so amazing! The bar is located just steps from the ocean, right on the sand. We were warmly greeted by one of the bartenders and my partner and I ordered the Turtle Island "Lights Out" drink for $15, featuring a few different rums and other mix ins. The drink tasted like a mix of a Mai Tai and Pina Colada and was very tasty! We came back the following night and we ordered the same drink and also ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Healthy Bowl (large for $17). All ingredients were very fresh and the dish was a good portion. Service was great each time, and prices were about average for a higher end hotel's dining options. read more

After a waitress brought me a menu when I was sitting near the pool, I decided to head over and eat at the bar rather than trying to fight with eating in a lounge chair. I pulled up a seat at the bar and was presented with a nicer menu with more options. They had a nice selection of drinks to choose from and after looking at the menu, I decided on a Dark N Stormy, which is one of my favorites (basically, dark rum and ginger beer). When it arrived, I was surprised as the glass was filled to the brim with ice. I'm talking a ton of ice. I ordered a small tuna grain bowl which sounded good and it was full of flavor and fresh ingredients. At first, I thought it was super small but there was a lot more in the bowl than it looked like. It was a nice snack for me, and may be enough to fill someone without a hearty appetite. After my drink was finished (not too many sips), the bartender asked if I wanted another and I politely said no, not for a glass of ice. He asked if he could refill it with ginger beer and I said sure. He may have added some rum to it as well to make up for the amount of ice on the first pass. This was an awesome move. Especially after seeing the $14 dollar charge for the drink. Had I known that, I would have opted for a much more complex drink at the same price point. Staff was friendly and food and drinks were good. Yes, it's pricey, but you're at a resort. Just be advised the simple mixed drinks may be as much as a fru fru drink. read more

We have been here every trip we have made to SW Florida. Great outdoor bar. Very friendly, attentive staff. While the JW Marriot is REDICULOUSLY overpriced, Kane is not bad and it's open to the public. If you park at the public lot across from the Marriot Crystal Shores, U can access the public beach access and make the 5 min walk. Also, the Hilton Marco Island which is a basic hotel that charges 5 star prices, doesn't allow non-guests to even purchase a drink, so don't bother. read more

The drinks get 10 stars! I had the blueberry mojito and it was to die for. The fresh blueberries and mint Yum! We ordered an array of appetizers to share. Wings, ribs, spring rolls, potstickers, shrimp, and chips and dip. Most were pretty good, but the chips were supposed to come with guacamole and he informed us after the chips had already arrived that they were out of guac. This was an $11 pile of chips, so quite frankly I would have ordered something else instead but at that point it didn't matter. He substituted queso for the guac, but it wasn't what we really wanted. He did score a few points back by bringing us a small container of "handmade" guac that someone threw together (making me question what their regularly-served guac is made from). It was a sweet touch, but the recipe wasn't right so we ended up not eating it. We had to ask a few times to get more water, which seemed odd since this restaurant is outside on the sand. I would think a pitcher of water at each table would be minimal. Either that or they have to be quicker on refills! Overall, I want to give this place a 3.5. I'm feeling generous so I'm rounding up. Come for the drinks, but maybe eat somewhere else first! read more

The Island Girl drink was so refreshing and not sweet. The menu is quite limited. Would recommend the mahi burger and the fries were super crispy and flavorful. The wing sauce was really good, but the wings themselves weren't great. They were served with what seemed like a house made ranch dressing, which was very good and perfect for dipping our fries. Kane is a great beach spot to grab a drink and light fare while enjoying the pool at the JW Marriott (the restaurant is a part of their property) and beach of Marco Island. You can literally walk right up off of the beach! We ordered drinks that were delicious and refreshing on a hot Florida day, as well as a light lunch to share: their chips, salsa and guacamole app and my husband ordered a burger to share. The little bit of the burger I had was very tasty! The chips and guac were good and the salsa was amazing! The best way to describe it was the vodka sauce of salsas! Kane is located right in front of the beach and the JW Marriott Resort. This place was packed when I went and they seemed to have a lot of customers drinking their cocktails. I went ahead and asked for the menu along with my ginger ale and then ordered some appetizer dishes to eat in the middle of the day. Everything was pretty good; I'd say that the shrimp skewers were my favorite. I enjoyed the quality of the food and the attentive service overall here. Check it out! Second time at this JW Marriott property, the first was at Quinn's On The Beach, which I haven't reviewed yet. Perhaps later. Kane's is a Asian cuisine tiki bar on the beach at the JW Resort. Some information on the internet says it is Indonesian cuisine, but it is more just a pan-Asian restaurant, think something from a Seinfeld episode, a little some for everyone, though it does have the heavier cuisine os Malaysia and Indonesia, but the only real dish from the region is the beef satay. The cocktails are solid, but unremarkable. That could be because given the beach location glassware was strictly verboten. Frankly drinking anything out of plastic detracts from the taste and experience. But, it's at the beach and give our litigious society, the risk is obviously unacceptable. The bartenders were knowledgeable and friendly, all were long time employees at Kane's, which says much for both their commitment to the art of the cocktail and customer service, but also to Marriott for not discarding service employees, which given the two years of panic, could have happened. Glad to see employees and employers working together. But back to the food. I had the pork ribs, which were fall of the bone tender and juicy. Many fast passed kitchens slack on this, frequently sending out over-cooked pork, but not here. Cooked perfectly. My other two dishes were rum glazed vegetarian spring rolls and chicken dumplings. The only miss of those two dishes was the heavy sauce for the dumpling, a little on the salty side, though it did sort of justify the "Indonesian" moniker, definitely a heavy tasting sauce as compared to Japanese gyoza that comes with a lighter sauce. The cocktails were solid, but nothing to write home about. Fantastic view of the beach and sunset, but, sadly, I neglected to take a sunset photo. Would I go again, yes, but only after I finished going through all the restaurants at the resort, or it was meeting friends for beach cocktails. I was disappointed by my experience at Kane. We were seated promptly, given water, and ordered our first round of drinks within minutes, so the 1st 5-7 minutes was grand. The drink menu is very standard for an outdoor bar, nothing particularly creative about the tiki drinks, but there were some tasty options. Our first drink arrived promptly, and that's when everything went straight downhill. I'd gone to wash up (the menus left my hands sticky) and my fellow boozer didn't want to order without me. She let the server know we be ready in a couple minutes. I returned from the bathroom and drank more than half my drink as it melted in the hot sun. We looked and looked and looked for our server, but we never saw him again. He said he was team serving with another server, but we didn't know who that person was and they never came by either The two servers that did occasionally come into our section to tend to their tables seemed to actively avoid eye contact. We'd been sitting there over 20 minutes and hadn't seen hide nor hair of our server. Oh wait, I take that back. We saw him come out of the hotel, grab his drink from the host stand, and head right back inside. I ended up going to the bar to see if I could order from there, not wanting to deal with our server should he ever return. This landed us another server, which was fine, because the first guy was not going to get any tip at this point. It turned out we had been served by the manager. Way to go. The woman who took over was fine and attentive, and they comped one of the two appetizers we ordered. Both the spring rolls and wonton chips were very good, but we especially liked the wonton chips with pineapple jalapeno jam. Nonetheless, the experience left us quite sour on the place so we elected to leave it at one drink and took the rest of our business elsewhere. read more

No big deal, we told the girl she said she would fix it. We didn't get a new one, we had to go to the bar and get it. Then we watch as table after table got their food. Mind you they were all sat after us. I ordered another mixed drink. Didn't receive it for at least 15 to 20 mins. By the time our food came out we are pretty sure it was sitting, not was hot. Only outdoor seating, but great views of the water from walking distance make this a very nice place to grab a drink and a bite. From the lobby, walk outside toward the water, make a right and walk along the water until you see it on the right side. The Lights Out tiki drink is definitely the way to go. Service is spread a little thin, prices are a bit high, and variety of cocktails is surprisingly limited (though they have a TON of rum options). On a cold/windy day, be sure to bring a jacket because the ocean breezes are strong here. read more

Yum, not only are the drinks here amazing and fun, but the food is delicious as well! It's right on the beach so you get great views outside the resort. I had the coconut mojito and island girl drinks, and both were so refreshing. We also shared a bunch of small plates that were all excellent. The wings were our favorite, followed by the ribs which were super flavorful. The ceasar salad was also tasty, as were the potstickers. Our waitress was so nice too, and the service was quick. Whether you are staying at the JW Marriot hotel or decide to come by from another location, it will certainly meet your expectations of casual beach dining. The tables are right on the sand with breath taking ocean view and calming music. Go ahead take your shoes off and feel that sand! The menu is short but has good options. I chose the crunchy Kane salad with grilled chicken and my husband had the Katsu Chicken Sandwich. Very delightful meal! We also ordered chicken satay as an appetizer however the meals came out so fast that it wasn't needed. Though delicious! Service was very quick and prompt but of course it could vary dependent on the season and day. We were vacationing in August which is not peak time for Florida.
