I was visiting my dad and he wanted to take me to Isle of Capri for lunch. I'd never been, though I'd been to nearby Marco Island before. The restaurant he usually goes to was packed, but as it turns out, that was a blessing in disguise. Just around the bend we found Pelican Bend, and I'm so glad we did. The parking lot had a handful of cars, and there were a dozen or so people scattered around tables and the bar--definitely felt like a laid-back spot where locals hang out. The setup is great: several rows of Adirondack chairs, an outdoor bar, about 10-12 umbrella-covered tables, and a screened-in porch with another bar and additional seating. Relaxed, coastal, and inviting. Our waitress, Sydney, was absolutely lovely--friendly, kind, and honestly one of the best servers I've had in a long time. She was very personable and made several recommendations, all of which were spot on. We started with the calamari, which can be tricky, but this was cooked perfectly. My dad ordered the seafood chowder and a wedge salad and loved both. I ordered the grouper sandwich with a side wedge salad. Between the calamari and the salad, I was so full I ended up taking the sandwich home--and it was still delicious the next day after a quick spin in the air fryer. If you're in the Marco Island/Isle of Capri area, definitely give Pelican Bend a try. Great food, top-notch service, and thoughtful touches too--the sun kept shifting, and the hostess even came over to rotate the umbrella for us. A really wonderful experience. read more

We started out with reservations at Island Gypsy, which has nothing but outdoor seating and even though it was low 60s, it was getting colder and colder with no outdoor heaters. We left there and came to this place on a whim. Boy are we glad we did. The food was hot and so good. And the prices are so much better than what we've been experiencing on Marco Island. Stopped for lunch and my meal was outstanding. I ordered the Seafood platter and it came with a choice of two of fried grouper or fried shrimp or fried clams. Also a choice of salad Caesar or wedge and choice of sweet potato fries or French fries. The meal arrived with very generous portions for $23. The lightly coated fried grouper was the best grouper I have had in SW Florida and the breading on the clams was very tasty. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Pelican Bend is a pleasant waterside restaurant with both open air and screened-in seating, suitable both for a romantic table for two or a family where you might see a pelican pod partaking of pieces pitched by a preparer. On our visit, fish were being cleaned on the dock and the local bird population, including pelicans, had taken notice. I have never seen pelicans this close or been able to observe their feline-like scrapping over larger chunks of fish debris being tossed out. Pelicans' majestic flight and graceful paddling at rest are beloved by people but the creatures who end up scooped into that expanding face-pouch before being unceremoniously gulped would beg to differ. If fish are being cleaned and the fishmonger likes to toss the waste to the birds (some reportedly don't), you can watch it all happening ten feet away dockside. Overall I was struck by how similar to swans pelicans appear when floating at rest (but definitely keeping one eye on the proceedings at the cleaning table). South Florida seafoods, including shrimp, conch, calamari, oysters, and lobster comprise the majority of menu choices, with typical burger, chicken finger, and club sandwich options for non-pescatarians. Worth mentioning are the Prime Rib Sliders, "shaved prime rib, arugula, and garlic aioli served on pretzel rolls (subject to availability)" that sounded good but weren't tried (and we did not confirm availability on our visit, either). The burger meets expectation at the bar-food level: proper patty cooked correctly to order (as opposed to thin, well done only fast food fare), with a hearty bun and fresh lettuce, tomato, and onion toppings. If you're looking for decent burger with hyper-local atmosphere, take the turn off Collier Boulevard and venture back here to the water's edge. Seafood items start with the catch of the day, offered as tacos, a sandwich, or a platter. There's an intriguing "greuben" where fish is substituted for the meat. That sounds like it could be either be delicious or leave one pining for corned beef or pastrami. I decided instead on the fish of the day platter, grilled. which comes as three or four thin seasoned filets with sides. None were particularly remarkable, but overall it was a satisfying meal. No one tried the lobster salad options on this visit, but one of my dining party who frequents Pelican Bend advised that it was not fresh lobster and that the proportion of actual lobster meat was low. Service was little slow and our server spoke very quietly, not ideal where a third of the dining party wear hearing aids. To be fair we arrived as a split party with first arrivals ordering one set of appetizers before the rest of the group arrived. If you can be here when the fish is being tossed, it's a great option for kids. The pelicans (and to a lesser extent, the other sea birds) are fascinating and there are plenty of kid-friendly items on the menu alongside the adult fare. There's a full bar, as well. read more

Nice outdoor bar and atmosphere with live music. Other than that, I'd say this place is a skip. The wedge salad had me laughing out loud as it was a wedge with just dressing, literally nothing else. No tomatoes. No bacon. No onion. Nothing. Everything else was just super fried and heavy. Left feeling kinda icky. Explains why we walked in when everywhere else was busy. I've been coming to Pelican Bend for 30 years. My family has a timeshare on Marco and this was always our first stop before we arrived. For my 40th birthday, my husband and I decided to go to Marco for a long weekend to celebrate. Of course, we had to stop here to start the weekend! We are outdoors where the bartender and server are so friendly - the food (ALWAYS get the blackened grouper sandwich!) is so good (and the fries are AMAZING). I wasn't expecting much going into this place by the looks of it. We were pleasantly surprised by the food. We had the fish tacos which my companion loved. I had the prime rib sliders which blew me away. We sat at the outside bar which was full of locals. The bartender obviously catered to them and wasn't too attentive to us. Was there for dinner on saturday april 26th 2025. The bartender makes a habit of keeping your change when paying cash without asking, which is very dishonest. I didn't say anything at the time, but it's not okay to assume a tip without returning what's owed. I have been in the bar business for several years and this kind of cheating is definitely a grounds for termination. read more

Two years ago their sautéed fish changed - when the younger generation took over. I have been going there for years for the sautéed fish! For the last 2 years it has been dry with no lemony flavor! I wish they would get a refresher from the previous cook! I will try again this year but it might the the end to a great place! So sad! read more

I'd like to be able to rate our dining experience, but we didn't get a chance to eat there. My husband, my young daughter and I were denied the opportunity to eat in their dining room. My husband has a certified service dog, as he's disabled. We were told we cannot eat inside, but they told us with the animal we were allowed to dine outside (of which we did not want to do as the mosquitoes were terrible). The employee came outside as we were getting out of the car to communicate that we cannot come inside. The reason given, was their indoor dining room was on the small side and that the owner is not a fan of animals being inside as he's picky about it. My husband's service dog was wearing his certified dog vest and his credentials were quite visible. Not that we should have to, but we also communicated he is a certified service dog and he's permitted by law to go wherever my husband goes. Also, service dogs are trained to sit under the table while their handler is dining (so the dog is not taking up any additional space). Under the ADA, restaurant owners must legally allow service animals into their establishments. This means that you cannot refuse entry to a person with a service dog based on your own personal beliefs. You also cannot segregate the person and their service dog to a specific place in the restaurant. They should be treated like any other customer when entering the restaurant. So unfortunately my husband was denied access to the restaurant, discriminated based on his disability with a medical need for a service animal and the restaurant also attempted to segregate my husband to a different area of the restaurant. read more

We love the Isles of Capri and were looking for someplace that could seat us without a huge wait on a Sunday for lunch. Pelican Bend was a great option! We arrived and the front door to the restaurant was locked, but the parking lost was mostly full, so we went around to the back tiki hut where we were met by a server. We were directed to "pick any seat we liked" which is always a little nerve-wracking in a busy place...I always worry we'll be forgotten or overlooked, but we only waited a few minutes for our server to come over to us with menus and to take some drink orders. Every seat is near the water, which is really nice and there is plenty of space between tables do you don't feel like you are dining on top of your neighbors which is an issue at a lot of local restaurants. I got the fried seafood platter and chose Fried Shrimp and Fried Fish, with French Fries. My companions got the Hamburger (which smelled so good) and the Shrimp Tacos (a fun and adventurous choice). Everything was delicious, well-cooked and delivered timely. Overall, this was really nice. The food was pretty standard for Marco Island and Isles of Capri, but the location on the water is lovely, the service is friendly, and I will be back! read more

What a cute spot! My Dad was visiting from Massachusetts and he insisted we come here for dinner after spending the day in Naples. He swore he had some of the best fish dishes ever from Pelican Bend. The great thing about this restaurant is it's not complicated, just simple, tried and true dishes. If you're looking for a casual place to eat that feels like great home cooking, definitely come and try for yourself. Of course being a Yelp Elite I had to check out the reviews on the drive over, and I wasn't really sure what to expect if we are being honest. The most surprising plate was the wedge salad. It doesn't look like much... but let me tell you that dressing was . So good. Also one of the best fish I've ever had was their catch of the day, lightly breaded and fried. Seemingly so simple, yet so good. A lot of the patrons you'll see are regulars who have been coming here for years. That says a lot in my opinion. What also says a lot is a 45 min wait on a Tuesday night. That's a pretty clear signal to me that there is some great food coming out of Pelican Bend kitchen. Then the male employee was yelling at customers and was then spitting on the ground as he exited the screened area, near the outside tables... Just being honest. read more

Wonderful outdoor, waterfront restaurant in Isles of Capri. We sat at an umbrella shaded table by the dock. Beautiful scenery and excellent restaurant. Had to wait a couple minutes to sit by the water, but was told we could walk around the docks while we waited so we did just that and looked at all the boats and fish and pelicans. Ordered a blooming onion and fried oysters as well as a Pina colada. Wonderful onion and fried oysters. The Pina colada was not as sweet as some, but still good. The grouper was so tender and delicious for our entree. Great service. Had two slices of pie for dessert which were still a little frozen, but good. Great atmosphere and wonderful food. They have two bars outside, one screened and one open, both by the water. read more

We had a short wait for our table, but it was definitely worth a while for the view and the fresh seafood and the live entertainment. I cannot recommend the pelican bend enough. We used to come here a lot many years ago and I had so many delicious memories of the Sautéed White Fish. We took friends with us tonight and we had the Seafood Chowder, Sautéed Fish, Fried Fish, Fried Shrimp, Scallops, Fish & Oysters. The meals came with a Wedge Salad with their delicious house creamy garlic dressing. The Seafood Chowder was delicious. The Sautéed Fish was just as amazing as I remembered. All of the fried seafood was delicious, very lightly battered and not greasy at all. The service was so great and so friendly. The house wine was great and only $6 a glass! What a little hidden gem! My experience at this establishment was great. Angel Lehnhoff here with Coldwell Banker. As a Realtor working in Isle of Capri and Marco Island, I stopped in for a bite to eat. I'm glad I did. I was greeted warmly, served quickly and was pleased with everything I tasted; from the grilled shrimp appetizer to the Grouper fish tacos. I had the Capri Spritz to drink with a dash of simple syrup and it was delightful. David was my bartender and Crystal was my server. I was enjoying the ambiance so much I didn't leave so they seated me where I could gain power to plug in my internet router and set up my laptop to finish my work. It was surprisingly reasonable in regards to price as well. The locals were kind and I even made some new friends. I highly recommend. Thank you Pelican Bend for your hospitality. BEST SAUTÉ WHITEFISH I started eating too fast & forgot the picture!! $18.99 gets u the sauté roughy, thin large lightly breaded and sauté in butter. So good! Nobody does butter anymore. It's so delicious it's ridiculous. Best fish on the isle of Capri. Wedge salad hunk w creamy garlic dressing. Even the baked potato was perfect. I guess u can sub slaw If u want or veggies. Went to Pelican Bend the other evening around 7pm. Hostess offered us a table outside and stated " It's screened in and no one ever complains about bugs". Overall great experience. I will start with that. 4 stars for lackluster wedge salad. It was 1/4 head of ice burg with a side of blue cheese $6. No tomatoes, bacon, anything?? Soft shell sandwich was great. Nice bun and delicious tomato Lobster melt was great. Cole slaw is good. Creamy base Fish tacos were good. Nothing exciting. Kids fish basket was a good value Overall good experience. We watched the fresh fish cleaned in front of us. Carcasses thrown to the pelicans in the water.
