The front of the café is off the Overseas Hwy but limited parking, so we went around back for additional spaces and a back door into the café. We were so excited to have some gelato on this brutal hot day. The owner greeted us upon entry and noticed a few customers eating. Severely disappointed that no gelato was offered today even though the business is called Michel's Artisanal Gelato. They offer a decent selection of fresh pastry. We bought a banana muffin for $5 as a snack for the ride to Key West and left defeated. read more

Cute French bistro in the keys. Parked in the lot in the back. A few clothing outfits on racks at the rear of the bistro. Customers were eating at the tables and had to get a muffin because they stopped making gelato. The muffin was very sweet with lots of nuts. read more

A must do!!!! A gem in the Keys that offers French pastries, ginormous crepes (pick your ingredients), sandwiches, and a delicious coffee bar; complete with friendly service and a welcoming vibe. We stopped by for breakfast one morning. The pastries and gelato looked fantastic. I ordered a ham and Gruyère croissant. The hubby went with the continental, a croissant (for the road), and a mango coconut crepe, which came with a small cup of mango gelato. The Chef is great, super fast, and makes a mean cup of coffee! We will definitely add this to our list of favorites for breakfast or lunch here in the keys. read more

The food is good. I had the strawberry-banana with Nutella crepe. It was decent but couldn't really taste anything other than the Nutella. It was a lot and clouding any tastes of the crepe or fruit. The wife had the shrimp quiche and said it was okay. It stands out as not many down there with same offerings. The place could use a good cleaning. But when you only have a crepe, a small shrimp quiche, a tea, and chocolate milk and the bill is $48 and by the time he added his own tip of $10 making our breakfast for 2 coming in at $58, it is very expensive breakfast for what you get. Nice and cool inside! Chef is really nice and friendly! He's the only one servicing everyone but does so in a very timely and friendly manner. Wife got a mocha, Nutella croissant and the ham quiche with salad. Loved it! I got the Oslo sandwich, baguette was very good, tomatoes were juicy and smoked salmon delicious! Sticker Shock! I came in and picked up three tiny pastries. I did not dine in and I even took my food home and heated it myself. My total was $19 and change, and I was not handed an itemized receipt. Even farmer's markets aren't charging these insane prices. I later went on Yelp and discovered this has been an on going issue, and the owner tacks on a 20 service charge even if you get food TOGO. I know things cost more in the Florida Keys but this guy is pushing it-I've been to France so not sure how this baker justifies his food prices. Let me start off by mentioning that the food is delicious. My husband and I stopped here for brunch and it came highly recommended by another couple from our hotel/resort. We were created right away and when walking it the smell of fresh pastries was amazing. My husband ordered a crepe, I had spinach quiche and we both had a smoothie. The owner/waiter/cook was quick to get us our food. Portions were generous. When my husband went to pay we both were shocked that our brunch was almost $90! I know to some that doesn't seem like a lot, but we realized that there was an automatic 20% tip added to the bill. It was a shock for sure. read more

Great cafe in Islamadora. The owner runs the shop very efficiently. The mushroom quiche was delicious and came with a large side salad. My friend enjoyed his spinach crepe (made fresh to order). The croissant was better than any I've had in Miami. Very good coffee too. Highly recommend this place for breakfast or brunch in particular. Driving down to Key West, we wanted to stop by to get some breakfast. We stopped here and ordered Croque Matin, Katie, and Key Lime pie. The food was fantastic and fueled us for the 2+ hour drive we had to endure in order to reach Key West. The only reason I have to knock it down one star is because when I asked for water, he decided to give me a bottle of European mineral water instead. I thought this was normal, until other customers came in and he poured water into their cups. This was incredibly annoying as I didn't want the fancy water and he didn't even ask what kind of water I wanted. On our way to keywest we decided get breakfast at this place. This is one man show and he is quick. They have patio furniture but they do not serve outside. You have take a to-go if you want to eat outside. We were in a group of six. We ordered i e tea, latte, mocha, veg sandwich, midi sandwich, katoe sandwich, pancake, croissant. Tuna sandwich was a bit dry but fresh. Everything was good in taste and the service was super quick. The man serving was super efficient and was serving and preparing for multiple people. I almost do not want to review Bitton, because it may cause me to have to wait in line here. From the outside this place has a quiet unassuming simplistic elegance. Much like the owner. The inside is perfect and what a French Bistro should be. Spotless, and warm atmosphere. The aroma will hypnotize you, and the coffee is best in the Keys. So I ordered the spinach quiche and a freshly baked croissant . Quiche came with a salad with a wonderful balsamic dressing. This place is amazing! It's a one man shop who is super fast! We seated ourselves and grabbed menus. The owner/server/chef/cashier took our drink orders and made all the coffees right away! He then took our food order and started cooking right away! Everything we ordered was delicious! From the salad with the quiche to the sweet and savory crepes! The smell of fresh pastries when I walked in was a good sign that did not disappoint. I havent had a quiche in years - and the mushroom quiche was outstanding. Tasted husband's savory crepe - it was equally delicious (cheese, spinach). Portions were generous and the quiche came with a fresh salad. Coffee was full flavored. Probably one of the best one man shows I've seen in a long time! This was probably my favorite breakfast during our whole trip! There was one guy running the whole restaurant, cooking, taking orders, serving, and taking payment. He finally got some help as we were leaving but it didn't effect our experience at all, he was killing it. You had the option to stand and order to go or take a seat and be helped then. We took a seat and were able to look over the menu and decide by the time he got to us. I had the pineapple juice and a bella (strawberries cinnamon and sugar) and my boyfriend had the Lorraine (ham and gruyere cheese) with a caramel latte. The cashier who is also the cook gives himself a service fee or AKA tip for taking your order and cooking your food, which was a total surprise to me. I don't know maybe it's a French thing, but whatever it is, the prices on the menu need to be updated before you have some pissed off customer demand his money back by all means necessary. We love the food here. The homemade soups, crepes, and sandwiches are excellent. Unfortunately, the greedy owner has made us not want to come back again. No matter how hard I try to keep our bill at a reasonable amount, we can't seem to walk out of there without a $70 bill for two people. I am a local and offended that a local restaurant would take advantage of its customers this way. I have tried getting itemized bills but the prices are several dollars per item difference than what the menu shows. As others have stated a 20% tip is added whether you want it or not (no matter how big or small your party is). It is even included on "to go" items. I hate that I can't eat here anymore. It's kind of like hanging out with a friend who's is enjoyable to be around but you know they are going to steal from you at the same time. The owner is digging his own grave as most people don't want to be scammed on menu prices and other hidden fees when they go out to breakfast.
