Take a step back in time to a welcoming restaurant where the servers are super friendly, the food good and reasonably priced and the atmosphere nostalgic. Order the Brian's Special, an oversized fluffy omelette with plump fresh Gulf Shrimp, peppers, onions and Swiss Cheese. Absolutely gorgeous and delicious. Take pictures of the inside and out to share with your friends, and keep your memory of this wonderful restaurant alive.

First, I want to highlight our server Amanda who was very kind, funny, and accommodating to our requests. We got the chance to celebrate 50 years of this place with a nice cocktail. We ordered conch salad, mahi bites, fish tacos, seafood combo, and burger. Unfortunately we had to return the conch salad as I didn't enjoy it--it just wasn't what I expected. Amanda was kind enough to do so no problem. However, everything else was very good! I highly recommend the tacos, and any of the seafood plates, and the fresh fries.

special of the day. Two hashbrowns with eggs, bacon, pico de gallo, guacamole, and aïoli sauce.

Nona, our server, is quite the entertaining and friendliest character. We stopped by for a quick breakfast/brunch. We had a table of about seven and Nonna was able to accommodate us even though the place was a little packed. She made it happen. Her energy was amazing and even though we had a lot of requests, she remembered all of them. I had one of the specials which was two hashbrowns eggs, bacon, bits, pico, and guacamole with an added sausage on the side for extra protein. This location is small with interesting decor that has dollar bills and license plate everywhere... Somehow Keys-y. There is another bigger location, not too far from this one. I would probably suggest that one if you have a bigger party not sure why they're so close but they must be pretty popular.

I hate to leave a bad review for any local small business, but I need to leave a review for those foodies who really want a special taste, something that's flavorful and delicious... because I unfortunately did not find it here! I like saltier spicier foods in general but even comfort basics should have some richness to it that makes it... tasty? I ordered extremely fresh tasting mahi mahi but the server nor menu could aptly describe what "TJ style" meant. It was plain grilled on very plain salsa. Served with plain white rice. Tough to eat honestly, but probs great for older people or blander taste buds. Really cute outside and service was just okay. Their conch chowder was also red, which I know is done sometimes but usually it's noted on the menu too. It was salty and gritty for us.

Would prefer a 3.5 rating. The service was great as was the super cold tart key lime pie. Cute diner - we liked all the license plates. Conch salad was good but conch fritters were gummy on the inside. They should be moist but not mushy.

The original location... excellent lunch stop for our drive south. The chili is really tasty and for some extra heat the cayenne sauce is a nice add. The chili burger is a beast, glad I split it with a friend. We also had a hearty blackened mahi sandwich. There are a few booths and tables in front, and additional in the rear, and of course some bar seating. The walls are covered in license plates and memorabilia for a homey feel. Service is quick and will steer you towards a good meal.

Mrs Mac definitely hit the spot as we entered the keys. The mahi mahi blacked was delicious and so fresh. The waitress was so nice. The place is decorated like a small dive bar but don't be fooled it's delicious.

Fried mahi sandwich. Very large portion.

I ordered the fish sandwich and it was , very large and filling. It came with the sauce that was kind of plain so we added ranch to it, and it was even better. I shared with everyone at the table because it was so big. And my son & husband ordered the coconut shrimp and fried fish and that was delicious. They had their dish with the home waffle fries, which were great. I ordered the simple french fries just to compare and the other fries were much better. Go for the waffle fries. We finished it off with a zesty Keylime pie. Very friendly service. Good prices. We will be back again!

We went here for breakfast and it's was absolutely value for money. The staff was very nice and attentive. The food portions are good and everything has tasted very delicious . We also had a free coffee refill. The diner is like traveling into the past - very nice. I can only recommend to go.

    Jellyfishwich and homie fries $20

One of the most expensive lunches my wife and I had on our trip to the Keys. Our friends told us to stop here on the way home because it's one of the best restaurants around. We ordered two sandwiches: the shrimp poboy special $20, the Jellyfishwich $20, and a bowl of ham potato soup $9. Water for drinks. Total bill over $65, crazy for lunch. The gentleman that greeted us was a little gruff. He basically yelled "two dinning in!" Then quickly ran off to our table with menus. The situation was so abrupt we didn't know if we should follow him at first, weird because there was only one other table occupied by customers. Our server on the other hand was super friendly and provided prompt service and checked in on us regularly. The restaurant and table were clean and organized and our food was out in about 10 minutes, not bad. The soup was excellent. Both Nancy enjoyed the soup. It was homemade and had a lot of flavor and the bowl was big enough for us to share while we waited for our meals. Shortly after finishing the soup our main courses arrived. The Jellyfishwich was actually really good. It comes with Mahi Mahi fried string onions, mushrooms and chili pepper jelly. It was very fresh and tasty but to charge $20 for a sandwich is questionable. The Homie fries that came with the sandwich were just ok. The're marketed as hand-cut which they might be, but they were not freshly cooked to order and had no seasoning, just plain and bland. Nancy's shrimp poboy was also very good and had large pieces of fried tempura shrimp which were delicious. However she ordered the cottage fries with her meal, which like my fries, were also not freshly cooked and unseasoned, just bland. The restaurant is cool place to see because the dining room is unique and has a nautical vibe reminiscent of the beach, sea life, and the history of the Keys. Unfortunately I don't see myself returning here in the future, it's just not worth the cost. We could have gotten so much better back in Key West for a lot less money.

Delicious key lime pie! One of the best in the Keys. It is FROZEN when you get it but as it thaws it tastes almost like an ice cream. Refreshing, super flavorful and not too sweet. I just wish the whipped cream was home made and fresh. Yum yum!

Nona's the best serve. Chicken Club sandwich slaps. Decor is cute. Pie is out of this world. Don't miss out and stop by on the way.

Having arrived at 4:30pm, we were immediately shown to a table and informed about the happy hour specials. Not normally ones to drink much on vacation, my wife and I instead opted to live in the moment and enjoy the island life, especially since it was 30 degrees when we left Ohio that morning. As such, we each ordered a rum punch (pictured), while my best friend ordered a Bulliet old fashioned and his wife a house margarita. With drink orders out of the way, Deja, our absolutely delightful waitress, took our food orders: sauteed seafood combo (for my wife), backyard BBQ burger with coleslaw (for me), burger and fries (for my BFF and his wife, who -unlike us- were smart enough to save room for dessert). While waiting for our meals, we took in the ambiance of the restaurant, and wow was there a lot to take in! First off, we loved how the old Pizza Hut building had been repurposed and transformed into the embodiment of the tropical island lifestyle. From the display tables showcasing seashells and historic Florida Keys photos, to the license plate light fixtures, to the ceiling-mounted blue sky and clouds panels, to the fish hanging in front of each distinctively Pizza Hut trapezoidal window, we loved it all! When our food arrived, it looked fantastic and tasted even better. My wife described her seafood combo as being excellent, with the Caribbean lobster "almost as good as the ones we get in Maine." Likewise, her fish was fresh and delicious, while the shrimp were succulent. My burger was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and was topped with expertly caramelized onions and bacon with just the right amount of crispness to it. My coleslaw side was also excellent, with the perfect balance of creaminess and zing. Our friends also said their burger and shoestring fries were fantastic. To round out our meal, each of the four of us ordered pieces of Key Lime Pie, which was some of the best I have ever had in my life (and I have eaten a lot of Key Lime Pies!)! Throughout our meal, Deja checked on us often without being overbearing, and kept the drinks flowing. All told, for 5 drinks, 3 entrées with sides, and 4 slices of Key Lime Pie, our bill before tax, tip, and credit card surcharge was $163.93. Considering the excellent food and outstanding service we received, the four of us universally agreed it was well worth the price! Pros: outstanding service, fantastic flavours, great atmosphere, and the 2-for-1 drinks during happy hour were a great deal! Cons: none! Overall we rate Mrs. Mac's Kitchen as being Excellent and cannot wait to go back!

I'm not sure if I would come back though. I'm just wondering if the whole restaurant is dirty like our table.

Five stars, and I want to explain this properly because High Tide in Key Largo is absolutely a…read moreplace people should experience at least once. This is one of those spots that immediately tells you it's a local favorite the second you walk in. It feels homey, lived in, and deeply rooted in the community. The average crowd definitely skews older, which honestly just shows how loyal the regulars are and how long this place has been doing something right. We stood for a minute or two when we arrived, which wasn't a problem at all, but the initial interaction felt a little abrupt. Nothing hostile, just very direct and urgent. We later found out that Cathy is the owner, and it became clear very quickly that this place is her whole world. She works hard, moves fast, and runs on urgency. That energy can sometimes come off sharp, especially to visitors who aren't used to that local, no frills style, but we gave her the benefit of the doubt. There were moments throughout our visit where the tone felt a little rough around the edges, and it wasn't just with us, we noticed it with other tables too. It didn't feel personal, more like someone who is stretched thin and running on fumes. To her credit, there were moments where she self corrected, and I genuinely believe this was just a long day rather than bad intentions. Running a place like this day in and day out is not easy, and you can feel how much effort goes into keeping it moving. This review isn't meant to tear anyone down, just to be honest for future guests so they know what to expect walking in. What truly changed our entire experience and pushed this from a four star visit to a solid five was our server. Her name started with a T, she wore glasses, and she was African American, and she was an absolute blessing. She treated us with warmth, patience, and genuine care, like we were family she was looking out for. When we sat down and the table needed to be wiped, she handled it gracefully without a single awkward moment. Everything she did felt intentional and kind. She was attentive without hovering, respectful, and genuinely happy to be doing her job. There was also a sweet older Latina woman clearing tables who was just as lovely and welcoming. It became very clear that despite the different personalities, this place functions as a team, and the heart of High Tide lives in the people who treat guests with care and humanity. If you get that server whose name starts with a T, you are in excellent hands. Now let's talk about the food, because this is where High Tide really shines. The hash brown casserole is a straight ten out of ten. No exaggeration. Comfort food perfection. Crispy, savory, and absolutely worth ordering. The country style platter we ordered was also a ten according to my friend, hearty and satisfying in the best way. The lobster benedict was good, I would give it about an eight. It's a fun, unique option if you want to try something different, but not the standout compared to the rest of the menu. And then there's the real star of the show, the Key lime pie. Even if you are not hungry, come for the pie. This is hands down the best Key lime pie I have ever had. Perfectly balanced, not overly tart, smooth and almost cheesecake like in texture. It's the kind of dessert that makes you pause after the first bite because it's that good. Beautifully presented too. The decor is charming and thoughtfully cluttered in a way that feels authentic, not staged. The bathrooms are old but very clean. Parking is a little quirky but manageable, and there is parking available if you're patient. Overall, the vibe is cozy, memorable, and unmistakably local. Would I come back? Absolutely, especially for the food and that pie. Cathy, you are clearly working your ass off, and I hope this was just a rough day. This review comes with honesty and flowers, not shade. Five stars for the food, the heart, and the people who make this place what it is. I do recommend it.

The spacious patio out back did also actually look nice. I wanted to give this 5 stars but my husband was not impressed by the taste (or lack thereof) of his bacon burger so I had to take away a star. I had a delicious Woodrow Chicken sandwich piled high with their signature onions and bbq sauce. When they brought it out, I wondered how I could possibly get the huge thing into my mouth. It was enormous (see photo) and tasty. I cut it in half and ate leftovers the next day. Service was good except our waitress did seem to struggle a bit. She either could not hear us or did not understand us (language issue?). At least she kept asking us until she understood. I do appreciate that. We were skeptical but our order came out right, yippee! We even splurged by getting dessert. Can't pass up chocolate cake when it appears on the menu (rarely). It was a beautiful presentation (see photo)! Next time you are in Key Largo, give these folks a try. You won't be disappointed.
