Cacio e Pepe is something if I see it on the menu I have to order it. I've learned that not every place can make it well, so I try to keep my expectations low. A bad sign is when the dish comes out in a pool of sauce. This restaurant's Cacio e Pepe is more like Cacio E Fredo. My husband had the western omelette because when he asked for the avocado breakfast sandwich they were out of avocado. The waitress was very efficient. Spent Father's Day weekend in the Keys. This was our first night there and we chose Lido 73. The food was very tasty. I had the spicy shrimp diablo. It was eye watering good. We chose to eat here on our first night of vacation and made a reservation in advance. We were seated at 8:15 and placed our order by 8:30. By 9:30, we still hadn't received our mozzarella appetizer--let alone our entrées (pear salads topped with grouper). Meanwhile, tables seated after us were served their full meals. We came here for dinner with a group of six and sat quickly on a Friday night. We ordered mussels, bruschetta, and conch fritters for appetizers. We ordered a bunch of food for the main course, such as bolognese, seafood pasta, gnocchi, filet mignon medallions, cacio e pepe and meatballs. For dessert, we got cheesecake, cannoli, mousse cake, and babamisu. We thought the appetizers were good. As for the main dishes, they were just blah and the meatballs were absolutely disgusting. We don't know if they opened a rotten can of dog food to make them with, but we honestly wouldn't have even given them to a dog that had no taste buds. That's how bad they were. As far as the desserts, the cannoli was soft and didn't have a crunchy shell, but everything else was good. We found out the place is under the same ownership as the Italian food company in Islamorada because the food was just as blah as that place. Next time we are in the area, if we have a craving for Italian food, we'll just wait to come home to fill that craving rather than go to this place or anyplace that falls under their umbrella. Not really much to see, the water view is basically a canal, but the food and service were very good !! It was a Sunday afternoon, they had a steel drum player, it really adds to the atmosphere. We had some Conch Fritters, Soup of the week and Medium Pizza, all very tasty and good portions. Add a couple of beers, Key Lime Pie and Espresso, it came out to $84.00 plus tip.
