From the pictures, seems like it's about to be a fantastic meal, right? Wrong. This is probably the worst meal we've ever experienced. The first bite of the pancake tasted burnt, and we thought, ah well, it happens, maybe a bit too long on the griddle. It quickly became apparent that something was wrong in the dish. There was a flavor that was just WRONG. Almost as if they cooked in melted plastic, or made the dishes on a nonstick that was peeling its nonstick off as it cooked. The disgusting taste was strongest in the eggs florentine, then the pancakes, and then the French toast. There was one fried egg that I had that was largely unaffected, and of course the parfait. I did want to point out that the parfait was billed as Greek yogurt, but it really seemed like regular vanilla yogurt. However, given the other issues, this wasn't a problem. I will say, the service was very pleasant. Our server was brand new, so I felt bad having to tell her about the meal, but she handled it well. She called the manager over, who did comp us the meal, and we left a tip for our server. This is the only reason I'm leaving 2 stars instead of 1. The chef never came out to talk with us though, which I did find strange. Needless to say, we didn't go back. We were too afraid to do so, as we had no idea what was wrong with the food. read more

We were rerouted to Reefhouse Resort due to our original room being oversold. We were happy to find out there was a restaurant on the grounds as it was nice nit to have to get in the car for dinner after a long drive. We walked to Gus' Grille and the grounds of the hotel were nicely kept and safe. We sat at a table and the restaurant was pretty busy. We were attended to fairly quickly and the server took our drinks and apps order right away. I ordered the lobster bisque as my appetizer. It was a large portion and could have probably just ordered that and maybe another side for my dinner. It was very tasty and it had large chunks of actual lobster in it, which was a very nice touch. I also ordered the snapper with the coconut rice and steamed spinach. Very happy with the quality and taste of the food. All in all, this is a great choice for dinner when in the area. read more

We went to Gus' Grille on a beautiful Saturday morning and were treated to full-on Keys beauty with swaying palm trees, the sun dappling on the surf of the Florida Bay, and a very beachy feel. Sitting outside on the balcony was a good choice, but inside looked cozy and special as well. We were greeted immediately with a friendly Keys welcome and it took only minutes for our server to introduce himself. The service was perfect and the food surpassed our expectations. We shared the avocado toast with poached egg and a still-warm blueberry muffin. A decent selection of teas was presented upon request. I can see coming back here for the view, food and service whether or not I return as a resort guest. Five Stars to the staff and particularly, Anton, our stand-out server. read more

I couldn't find a place to add a review for the actual resort so here I am. We stayed here at Reefhouse Resort for 2 nights. They let us check in early into our beautiful King w/ pullout couch overlooking the Gulf. Beautiful view, great pool, huge balcony and room was very spacious. This place is top notch, super clean and the service was incredible! From the moment we stepped on property we were given the best service imaginable. The only qualms would be the $23 omelette, the $9 'assorted cereals' and the parking. They do have a very large inside garage, however, the height clearance is super low. We were in a F350, which would in no way fit. There were parking spots outside on the north end but our room was on the total south end of the resort. There were 3 parking spots on our end, however, a$$hats in compact cars and crossovers were constantly parking there for whatever reason. The staff gave us permission to parallel park along the curb due to the size of the truck so that made up for it all. Overall, excellent, beautiful stay. read more

Food was good we had crab cakes and calamari with a bottle of sparkling wine and juice for mimosas those were pricey since they charge for everything both juices and a bottle but it is very part of a resort. read more

This is the restaurant that is on the grounds of the reef house resort and Marina. We came here for breakfast. They had a good menu with different rest egg dishes. My dining companion had a bowl of oatmeal that came with little balls of side accoutrements. These included syrup, butter, some nuts and fruit. I had Benedict was very good. I ordered the Florentine which came on a bed of spinach. The potatoes that came with the eggs Benedict were almost like flat tater tots. They were crispy and not greasy. . It was not very busy when we came. They appeared to know many of their patrons, and were very friendly. It did have great views of the water. read more

This restaurant is a hidden gem, we did not expect the hotel restaurant to be so delicious. For dinner we had the coconut crusted grouper and the blacked grouper with mango sauce, loved both. For breakfast I had the tuscan toast- wow! Focaccia with sun-dried tomato pesto, arugula, prosciutto, goat cheese and an egg, great start to the day. The wait staff is so friendly and helpful! Great location! The location is the reason for the 4 stars. Food was good... not great We just really enjoyed our lunch with the view. I started off with Buffalo Chicken Wings which were nothing special. My wife really enjoyed the Hummus for her lunch. I had a Chicken Caesar Salad which was good not great. Service was ok. Nicole just seemed to disappear at times and it seemed to take longer than expected for our drink both times. I'd definitely would go back.....not so much because of the food but because of the view. The location has a beautiful view of the water. The crab cake was good the added sauce/syrup and garnish under it was a great addition. The Firecracker Shrimp was really good. The shellfish pasta appeared to have a good portion of seafood, but the taste was bland, I took it to go so I could doctor it up at home. The broken Caesar I would recommend passing on it, definitely not worth $13. My husband food (snapper) came out Luke warm and without the sauce he ordered. Although there were about three tables being served service response time was poor, so once he got anyone's attention it was colder and the sauce was no longer necessary, so we sent it back. Our server kept zooming pass our table. We asked for a drink menu when she first came to our table and she told us they didn't have a menu with like cocktails but they have a full bar and then told us about two cocktails they have. Minutes later we see the lady at the table next to us with a cocktail drink menu...very strange. When we brought it to her attention she said she thought we already had it from the person that sat us. Why would we ask for it? We ordered Conch Fritters to go for my mom, I'll get her input later. read more

I don't leave many reviews but I feel obligated to warn people to not order the lobster here. I got the PAN ROASTED SEAFOOD that is priced at $46.00 and the lobster was so overcooked that it moved from rubbery to rubbery and cardboard. It was simply inedible. Who does the hiring here? Does the interview go like this?... do you like acting oppressed by working your job? Can you ruin a dish by literally not caring 1 ounce about the outcome of your effort? Nah, no effort what's so ever. I'm giving 2 stars because I got the breakfast package while staring at the the Reef House and it was alright. The orange juice says fresh squeezed but it's not. Here's the thing - I've had better seafood in Arizona. lol. What's something you look forward to in going to key largo? Yes, seafood. If you want seafood, DO NOT EAT AT Gus's. They don't care about your dollars or the life of the lobster. It basically died in vain and then spent an hour in a pan becoming trash. Ugh. Oh and the server I had acted like he was oppressed by waiting on me. lol. As dull and drab as you can get. There are many places to choose from in key largo and some excellent food, so if that's what you want, don't go here. It's a shame too, could be great. They're so busy hiring people who don't care about their jobs that they're going to run themselves into the ground. read more

Great food and amazing service. We were scared at first because it was a slow night and we were thinking... it's not busy, is the food going to be fresh? And not one single part of the meal was disappointing. In fact, it was so damn good. My husband got the churrasco steak and I got the snapper, with the key lime butter. His steak was cooked exactly how he likes it and my fish was so fresh and flaky. I wanted to drink the key lime butter. The service was VERY welcoming and knowledgeable. The ambiance was upscale casual. We sat inside against a window that over looks the water and it was beautiful. Even if you are not staying at the resort, definitely give this place a try. read more

There are just so many other places you can visit in this area... so you should! Starting with the positive- the staff at Gus' is beyond sweet and attentive. The view from the dining room was also quite lovely with the sun setting. We had the firecracker shrimp and bruschetta for appetizers.. the Shrimp was really well done, on a bed of seaweed salad. The sauce had just the right amount of kick. the bruschetta was served as a dip... which is a bit confusing- with toasted cheese bread. For mains, we had the Mediterranean flatbread, the pasta and the chicken. All a bit bland, super saucy and uninspiring. I think Gus' has potential to be a great dining spot, the setting and the staff are amazing. Just need to work on the menu and the execution. read more

We made a reservation but there wasn't hardly anyone in the restaurant (or at the resort actually). I will start by saying that we were staying at the Reef House so convenience was key to why we went to Gus' The first time we tried the restaurant was upon our arrival which was late on a Tuesday night (maybe 830pm) . It took no less than 10 minutes to get seated, even though at least 3 people walked past us, and the place was empty. I would like to add that we had two young teenage boys with us who were starving! We even had on gentleman who worked there, stop and say that one of my grandsons needed to have shoes on....yet still did not seat us. Finally the kitchen Manager came over and asked if we were being helped and took us to our table....while my son sprinted back to the room to get my grandsons sandals. The restaurant has an open kitchen, and we were sat right in front of it. You would think that would bring attention to a group of 6 people who were not getting attention. Nope.....it took at least another 15 minutes to have someone take our drink order. Finally the kitchen manager pointed to Marlin, who ran over to take our order. From there on it was a great experience. The food...although pricey....was very good. My husband and I received complimentary breakfast with our room package and dreaded having to go through that experience for breakfast, but it was a total different experience for breakfast. The staff was quick to seat us, the food came out fast, and it was enjoyable. The waitress with the very long braid....was awesome...im sorry I didn't catch her name. The last night my husband and I decided to go up for a sunset appetizer and dessert. Again...15 minutes to get seated. Another 20 minutes to get a waiter and only after the kitchen Manager came over and asked if we were getting helped. We ended up with the guy that told my grandson to get shoes on. He was super unpleasant..almost upset that he had to wait on us. We asked for two Cadillac Margheritas that were about the worst thing I have ever tasted. When taking our order he mumbled something and I repeated the drink order and then he basically shouted "No...do you want SALT on the rim???" Ugh...we should have just got up right there and then. After all we had only invested about 40 minutes at this point. But we pressed on...we're not quitters. He asked what we wanted and I ordered the firecracker shrimp appetizer. He followed up with "and your entrée " and I said "we are just going to do an app, and ...." before I could finish he walked off. While we ate the app, which was excellent, we watched no less than 5 groups of people either get up and leave for lack of service, or leave because they couldn't get seated. Then we pressed our luck and ordered a piece of Creme Brulee cheesecake with raspberry sauce.....it came with chocolate sauce. We laughed...paid our bill and left. Such a shame. All the food we had was very good...even the chocolate sauce. But they really lack in service and attention to the customer. I don't really want to call out our waiter but he needs to reevaluate if customer service is his strong suit. read more

What a nice place... beautiful views of the bay. I think they are s bit pricey but over all very good food. I had the surf and turf with sweet plantains and everything was cooked to perfection. They give you fresh cheese bread with jalapeño butter and hummus while you wait for your meal....All I can is yummy!! I did not get pictures of my food before hand because it looked so good I forgot to take a picture of it before I dug into it. The key lime pie was delicious as well.
