We went to Gus' Grille on a beautiful Saturday morning and were treated to full-on Keys beauty with swaying palm trees, the sun dappling on the surf of the Florida Bay, and a very beachy feel. Sitting outside on the balcony was a good choice, but inside looked cozy and special as well. We were greeted immediately with a friendly Keys welcome and it took only minutes for our server to introduce himself. The service was perfect and the food surpassed our expectations. We shared the avocado toast with poached egg and a still-warm blueberry muffin. A decent selection of teas was presented upon request. I can see coming back here for the view, food and service whether or not I return as a resort guest. Five Stars to the staff and particularly, Anton, our stand-out server.

Not bad not good -- poor value. Been coming to keys for a while so I get everything is more expensive and be prepared to be underwhelmed. Went for breakfast. Essentially 2 entrees, a couple of coffees was $60. Yes it's a resort with a good view for sure, but poor value proposition. Service was good and friendly. Views were excellent. I would not come again unless meal was part of a resort package

We were rerouted to Reefhouse Resort due to our original room being oversold. We were happy to find out there was a restaurant on the grounds as it was nice nit to have to get in the car for dinner after a long drive. We walked to Gus' Grille and the grounds of the hotel were nicely kept and safe. We sat at a table and the restaurant was pretty busy. We were attended to fairly quickly and the server took our drinks and apps order right away. I ordered the lobster bisque as my appetizer. It was a large portion and could have probably just ordered that and maybe another side for my dinner. It was very tasty and it had large chunks of actual lobster in it, which was a very nice touch. I also ordered the snapper with the coconut rice and steamed spinach. Very happy with the quality and taste of the food. All in all, this is a great choice for dinner when in the area.

    Lobster tail!!!

Gus has everything from Breakfast Lunch Dinner!! I ate all three and I am not disappointed. And a perfect porch to watch that key largo sunset!

This is the restaurant that is on the grounds of the reef house resort and Marina. We came here for breakfast. They had a good menu with different rest egg dishes. My dining companion had a bowl of oatmeal that came with little balls of side accoutrements. These included syrup, butter, some nuts and fruit. I had Benedict was very good. I ordered the Florentine which came on a bed of spinach. The potatoes that came with the eggs Benedict were almost like flat tater tots. They were crispy and not greasy. . It was not very busy when we came. They appeared to know many of their patrons, and were very friendly. It did have great views of the water.

I made a stop at this restaurant on my way to homestead FL and had a mojito and calamari and they were both pretty good. The restaurant was empty and the service was just fine. I'll probably come back again when it's more livelier.

The location has a beautiful view of the water. The crab cake was good the added sauce/syrup and garnish under it was a great addition. The Firecracker Shrimp was really good. The shellfish pasta appeared to have a good portion of seafood, but the taste was bland, I took it to go so I could doctor it up at home. The broken Caesar I would recommend passing on it, definitely not worth $13. My husband food (snapper) came out Luke warm and without the sauce he ordered. Although there were about three tables being served service response time was poor, so once he got anyone's attention it was colder and the sauce was no longer necessary, so we sent it back. Our server kept zooming pass our table. We asked for a drink menu when she first came to our table and she told us they didn't have a menu with like cocktails but they have a full bar and then told us about two cocktails they have. Minutes later we see the lady at the table next to us with a cocktail drink menu...very strange. When we brought it to her attention she said she thought we already had it from the person that sat us. Why would we ask for it? We ordered Conch Fritters to go for my mom, I'll get her input later.

I never expect amazing food inside a hotel. Yet, this place certainly delivered. We sampled a few dishes and they were so so good. If you come here, you have to stick with any fish dishes. The service was pleasant. The sunset was magical. I recommend.

This restaurant is a hidden gem, we did not expect the hotel restaurant to be so delicious. For dinner we had the coconut crusted grouper and the blacked grouper with mango sauce, loved both. For breakfast I had the tuscan toast- wow! Focaccia with sun-dried tomato pesto, arugula, prosciutto, goat cheese and an egg, great start to the day. The wait staff is so friendly and helpful! View outside can't be beat. No wait to be seated. Highly recommend!

Great location! The location is the reason for the 4 stars. Food was good... not great We just really enjoyed our lunch with the view. I started off with Buffalo Chicken Wings which were nothing special. My wife really enjoyed the Hummus for her lunch. I had a Chicken Caesar Salad which was good not great. Service was ok. Nicole just seemed to disappear at times and it seemed to take longer than expected for our drink both times. I'd definitely would go back.....not so much because of the food but because of the view. Should make a note that the young lady who greeted us was super friendly.

(Top to bottom) Conch fritters, calamari, and Mojo Pork Tostones. All delicious choices for starters.

We had a disappointing lunch here…read more We were in the keys specifically to enjoy Florida lobster season which started last week. As we were getting ready to head home, I had read in their ad in the local newspaper that they featured fresh Florida lobster. So I delayed our departure a couple hours just to make sure we stopped here for lunch. The restaurant has an outside bar and patio dining plus inside a/c dining. We chose to sit in the inside. I'd asked the server what Florida lobster dishes they offered and the prices. She said they had two -- lobster bites and a lobster tail. I order the tail with sweet potato fries as my side. When the meal came, I saw that what was delivered was NOT fresh Florida lobster. The manager (?) told me they hadn't pulled the traps yet and didn't have any Florida lobster -- which was strange as it was almost a week into the season and their two ads touted it. Anyhow, he suggested the snapper instead and I chose the coconut yellowtail sandwich from their specials. This was barely edible -- over fried, over cooked, and dried out. I took only a couple bites and coins t even eat the rest. Meanwhile, my husband had ordered the cracked conch appetizer. We've had this all over Florida (he's a native) and in the Carribean. This version was quite different. It had large square pieces of conch in a heavy fried batter. I would not recommend this dish, either.

But it is worth the detour. We sat at the bar, inside, with a view of the kitchen and cook, but I'd recommend sitting outside if it's not too hot and weather permits. That's a much better view. We started with their fried asparagus appetizer. The stalks were quite thin, and the portion small, but what we had was delicious. Especially tasty when dipped in the horseradish sauce. I'd get this again! After that we shared their fish dish. Two scoops on a plate with chopped tomatoes, chopped onions, and chopped green pepper. The cutest heart shaped crackers came with the dip. We had leftover dip so we took it home with us (in our cooler). We enjoyed it on toast later on. So the very good? The food. The not so good? The kitchen looked grungy and the ladies room was a mess. He got their breakfast casserole for a $2 up charge and the waitress said "oh, good choice," so we were both excited to see what that was going to be like. I ordered the grits with cheese. Our food came out in a timely manner and we enjoyed our coffee while we waited. The staff were great about keeping our mugs filled at all times. The food was served and I really enjoyed the crab cakes Benedict. The grits were just ok. Even with the cheese and butter, salt and pepper I added it was just bland. My husband liked his omelette. We tried each others and I think my pick won out. I will say his breakfast casserole was delicious! It had so much flavor. Definitely worth paying the extra couple bucks for imo. My friends all commented they enjoyed their food. They had some breakfast sandwiches and egg meals. We liked that they brought our check with a seashell on top. Not sure if it's because we are a large party 10 or more, or what? Our last visit was a Sunday evening in early July . We ate outside. Waiter was good at getting water out to everyone. But when it came to drink orders we must have waited 15-20 minutes for him to take our drink orders. I had to ask him to take my appetizer order. We had to ask several times for our drinks - soft drinks- not alcoholic. They were not good at cleaning our dirty appetizer plates away after delivering dinner leaving the table crowded. I think what I found most annoying was watching our server and another server standing around while we were waiting for drinks, for order taking, for refills, etc. There was just no attention being paid to us. Maybe the guy was new? Not sure. The restaurant wasn't very busy so that wasn't the excuse. I've heard it's difficult to get good help in the Keys. Cost a lot to live here. The sampler comes with two conch fritters, two coconut shrimp, two bacon wrapped items (which we replaced), cracked conch, and lobster and conch ceviche. I have to say this while it's fresh in my mind. The moment I had the lobster and shrimp ceviche, I got chills. Just an incredible burst of flavor. Tiny bit of heat at the end but nothing overwhelming. Just really, really good. The conch fritters are solid too. Chewy, not over breaded, and served with two sauces. One is sweet and one is more of a mayo style. There's also something that eats like a conch curry puff situation. I liked the cracked conch better personally, but both are worth trying. The coconut shrimp is also really good. The sampler also comes with tortilla chips on the side. The lobster bisque is delicious. Great flavor with little chunks of what I'm pretty sure is lobster throughout. Nothing more to add really. It's just good. The mahi and avocado dish has a nice seared taste to it. Not flame broiled exactly, but that kind of grilled sear that you want on fish. The pico de gallo is similar to what came with the ceviche, and it works really well here. All in at $75.
