10/5 stars if I could! This was hands down one of the best meals we had during our trip to the Keys. We were seated immediately, and there was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating overlooking a beautiful channel with boats constantly coming and going. I ordered the mahi mahi sandwich with sweet potato fries, served on a coconut bun, and it was quite possibly one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Everything came out hot, fresh, and surprisingly fast. You could tell the food was made to order. The staff was genuinely friendly and never made us feel rushed, which made it easy to sit back and enjoy the view. The outdoor seating was fantastic and added so much to the experience. The restaurant is a little tucked away and can be easy to miss, but don't let that stop you--it is absolutely worth finding. We spent about $54 for two people, and considering the quality of the food, generous portions, service, and atmosphere, it was worth every penny. If you're in Key Largo looking for a great meal with a waterfront view, put Skippers Dockside on your list. We'll definitely be back. read more

You heard it right!!!! One of THE BEST Key Lime Pies in the Florida Keys! I have been here a few times. VERY cool spot to hang out for a few beears or drinks. Food is excellent and customer service is exceptional. BUT........ What really stands out is their Key Lime Pie. I have been up and down the keys trying Key Lime Pie at almost every place I have stopped. Two have stood out: The version here at Skippers and the other at Captain Craigs in Tavernier. Skipper's Dockside was one of my favorite lunch spots in the Keys. Eating lunch next to the dock takes me back to my childhood. The sounds, the scents, the casual vibe; I loved the atmosphere. The Key Largo Platter was delicious with mahi-mahi, conch fritters, and shrimp. All were battered and fried but they were surprisingly light. The conch fritters were on the small size but still good. I've been going to Skipper's Dockside and Coconut's before at that location for many years while Scuba Diving in Key Largo. Skipper's greatly improved the dining experience there, and it was always a solid bet. While spending the month of January in Key Largo, I was excited to dine there again. However, I found the magic was gone and experienced an apathetic staff and lackluster food for lunch. I very much hope this was an anomaly as it only takes one time experiencing this to bypass a restaurant when there are so many great choices in the area. read more

We always come here when visiting from WPB . Staying at the Marriott and was nice to be able to walk over. Bartenders always nice and enjoyed the gentleman playing music and singing. Happy hour special of coconut I very enjoyed,it was the dipping sauce that made it ! Honey had it for Nashville chicken ,gets it everywhere. Good flavor yet the sauce would be better on the side. You're paying for the vibes and the amazing outdoor seating tiki hut. The staff is very nice but it's overpriced. It's definitely upscale but with above average food. I got the lobster Mac and cheese. It was market price. I lost on that price for the lobster I got. I do have to blame me because I should have asked more questions. I would pass on that next time. The coconut shrimp was amazing and the sauce had a little kick to it! So was amazing yo dip fries into as well. I also ordered Mai Tai ! It was good but 18$ and I will only get one from a plastic cup. Overall, this would be a great date night spot or fancy dinner but I think way better places feel more local! read more

Skipper's Dockside looked like a promising lunch option, but our experience was a bit of a mess. The service was SLOW, despite not being busy. The other couple of tables around us complained multiple times. When we did get our food, it was a miss. The shrimp were way overcooked, the coleslaw was vinegar-based with lots of red onion and just tasted off, and there was no sauce for the conch fritters (and no server that returned so we could ask for it). The fries and shrimp were cold but the fish and fritters were hot. The key lime pie was good, but I wouldn't return just for that. Considering our server was pretty MIA, it was super odd that waited tableside for me to put my credit card down once she finally brought the check. There are too many places in the area providing better food and service to give Skipper's another try. read more

This place has sadly gone downhill. The menu has shrunk considerably. The prices have gone way up. We had to send back our fish for being undercooked. The portion we received we received was measly. At least the drinks were good. I likely won't be returning. read more

Food when we finally got it was okay and disappointing we ha a Chicken Alfresco pasta and it was good, the Lobster Roll was a big disappointment tasted like a tuna sandwich , service was slow 10 minutes for drinks(and we were sitting by the bar) then when we finally got dinner no setup or napkins nothing had to located a waiter to get them. Met a friend here for lunch a couple weeks back. It was busy, but nowhere near full. I was surprised how every employee we encountered was from the mainland. There was zero locals vibe. Service was attentive and we looked out on the marina and watched the African Queen putter down the canal and come back. We both ordered salads, which were huge, and they arrived quickly. My friend took a lot of hers home (she had chicken on top), while I finished mine. She had 2 white wines and I just drank water. My bill was $13 for the salad. Her bill was $47. Turns out while she had asked for "house white wine", they had served her more expensive white wine. Being local, we see this as a trick pulled by mainland servers. This is also likely why we were the only locals there. Double check what you order and what you actually get. read more

We went here yesterday on a mini staycation. Christopher MC David was our waiter and knew the menu well. He made excellent recommendations and the food was top notch. We liked the ambiance. There was a man playing covers of old rock songs and it wasn't louder, overpowering and made the environment. Very laid-back. Everything was exceptional. Our only complaint was the excessive amount of flies. If there was a way they could get some of those zappers would be great. Otherwise it was amazing!! read more

The dock & bar are great but the food is the worst we have ever had in the keys. Calamari & couch fritters were just as though straight out of the freezer. Calamari was mushy not crisp fried plus very weird round little peppers. The dipping sauce was just mayo & ketchup. Sliders were dry with no flavor. Don't go there. So many other great places to go ie: buzzards roost for example. Sorry for the bad review but they need bid improvements. read more

They have both a large inside and outside. The outside has a ton of bar seating, slightly over the river canal. It was a typical Florida boardwalk bar. The inside was less divey and more of a resturant flare. The staff were talkative. Limited beer options and the one kicked. I didn't enjoy the one I had but that wasn't on them. They only gave 1 napkin, no extra bowl for peal and eat shrimp. The outside bar smelled like stale beer. And restroom doesn't smell better. Draft beers are 6-8 dollars for 12 oz. A pigeon pooped 18 inches from me. Music was Tom Petty, Jimmy Buffet Florida vibes. They have 6 TVs outside. And many inside. read more

The smash burger is off the hook or hoof. lol. Our server was outstanding. Kudos to her. However bar service was poor at best. The drinks came right before the food. The Skippers Mojito was not a Mojito crushed mint with some stuff. The other drink rum runner was sugar water. It was horrible. The waitress asked us to replace the drinks but we just got a Beer. I had my best bite in the Keys here. The shrimp po boy was maybe my favorite sandwich I've ever had. The service was great, we were offered a spot inside when it started raining. Convenient to the hotel and suggested by a friend, we had a good meal. Service was a bumpy start, they seated us and forgot us. Stopped for a quick lunch on our way to Key West, inside in the AC was empty and a few people were outside at the bar. We ordered club sandwich with mango slaw, and a patty melt with seasoned fries. Didn't expect our food to arrive on cutting boards but ok. The mango slaw was not good. It tasted like regular slaw with onions in it, I like Cole slaw, I did not like this. The club sandwich was good, the patty melt was a burger with cheddar cheese and carmelized onions. The burger was cooked to what I asked but the only flavor was the onions and cheese. I really didn't enjoy it, prob not order it again. Appeared to be a frozen burger that was cooked to order. As a quick stop on a 3.5 hour drive from Miami, I would visit again, would I recommend driving out of your way to eat there? Not sure. read more

Outdoor seating is a must in the Florida Keys to enjoy the ocean air, and this eatery delivered! Great ambiance, great tasting drinks and appetizers, entrées and desserts. We should have read my review from last year . Wayne had the same thing as a year ago - the smash burger - and it was great, again! I was also in the mood for beef but less hungry so tried the beef sliders - so good! Also, note the Coronarita - basically a margarita with a corona beer dropped in. The reason I said we maybe should have read last year's review is the fries were still not great - we only had a few, and it appears the slaw was a better choice. **Disappointed - Standards Have Dropped** We've been coming to Skippers Dockside for years, but after our most recent visit, we won't be back. The drinks and service have gone severely downhill. First, there was a dog *seated* at the bar *eating*--not just sitting nearby, but actually up at the bar. Servers were stopping to pat the dog on the way by and then immediately handling drinks and food orders *without* washing their hands. It was beyond unsanitary. We ordered *skinny* blackberry lemonades, which used to be freshly made, but this time, they were *sickeningly* sweet and completely undrinkable. When I asked the bartender why, he casually told us they now use a *pre-made mix*--completely missing the point of a *skinny* cocktail. To top it off, the bartender told us we needed to settle our bill *before* our food even arrived because they were in the middle of a shift change. We had only ordered an appetizer, and at that point, we decided we were done. We took our business elsewhere for dinner, and frankly, we won't be back. What used to be a great spot has completely lost its standards. If management doesn't step up, I imagine more regulars will be walking away just like we did. read more

The outdoor space in the bar area seems magic at night. Edison lights and an acoustic band playing really awesome Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash songs made for a peaceful dinner. There is a beautiful view of the bay and adequate seating. The service was very fast. I was so in love with the chef salad. They had tomatoes and basil marinated in oil and actually served it with the salad, which was a nice surprise. All of the toppings were fresh and it was a very large portion size. Good value and a great place to have some dinner and enjoy music when you are in Key Largo. read more
