Coconut mahi mahi! So good as someone who doesn't eat sharp but loved coconut shrimp this was IT

Fun friendly family atmosphere with locals and tourists. Huge portions. Mac and cheese and all fish entrees were more than enough for each person. Went first night on vacation and the service was fast. Best fish we had while down there.

Delish food and attentive service. Portions are very large so we have lunch for tomorrow. Dinner was lobster bisque then shrimp and mushroom risotto. Hubby had the Hobo burger. Medium rare, they got it right. Reasonable prices considering the portion size. Bar/counter, and tables inside and outside under a covered porch. Go!

The happy hour calamari. Huge portion.

Needed to grab a quick bite and was surprised that Hobo's has a great 3-6pm Monday to Friday happy hour menu! The only catch is it is only valid at the bar. You cannot beat the $1 draft and $3 IPA drafts and $5 wine. The $8 appetizers are great! I had the calamari and it was easily enough for 2 to share. Someone seated near me was having the 10 buffalo chicken wings and they looked and smelled so appetizing. I just had a Coke Zero and was offered both a refill and a to-go cup! Bar service was super attentive. The bar was full, but the restaurant only had diners at two tables, so it was not as loud inside as it can be when Hobo's is busy. Great quick visit!

This is an incredible venue and restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious and beautifully presented. Great draft beers and prompt, friendly service. Prices are better than average. Lovely shaded outdoor patio and cute indoor seating ... something for everyone. What an asset for Key Largo.

It's not the most obvious stop for dinner compared to some others that offer a spectacular view of a sunset, or are closer to the water... but what Hobo's does offer is a clean, cool open dining room with a bar and some tables, off of the main road in Key Largo to slow down and enjoy a nice meal. The wait staff was friendly and inviting. My owe ordered the hobo house beer and didn't love it, so asked them to switch it to a blue moon - which they happily accommodated. Speaking of alcohol, there is only beer and wine served - no spirits of any kind. The menu has some options with a heavy emphasis on seafood and some of which is locally sourced and caught. The meals were prepared well and the food was tasty. We felt the portions were very large for the price. We came here because of many of the local restaurants, fellow Yelpers recommend this place and it is rated fairly highly. We enjoyed it!

12/2025 tuna nachos. Definitely enough as a meal or to share.

This was one of my favorite restaurants that we went to in the Keys. A lot of good options on the menu and at a reasonable price. Service was about average.

Stop by the place on our way out of the Keys for lunch. They have great patio seating but it's a little chilly outside so we opted to sit indoors. Our waitress was super friendly and very helpful with the menu since it's quite extensive. We settled with fried calamari, conch fritters, and blackened shrimp salad bowl to share. Their portions are extremely generous so glad that we did that. Finished with the best key lime pie I have ever eaten, now I have to go home and make a copycat pie ‍.

Great spot, really loved the indoor decor. The staff was great and the food was delicious! I would highly recommend Hobos!

    Tuna nachos

Best tuna nachos I've had in a long time. The big slices of tuna are generous and perfectly seared. Wonton chips make the dish even better when! compared to tortilla chips. They make a great shared dish for multiple people and it came out super quick too.

Key Largo seems to have the most variability in Yelp experiences -- I found 5-star reviews followed by 1-star reviews and I didn't feel confident about any restaurant choices. Luckily, Hobo's was really good. The restaurant was clean. Service was polite and prompt. Food was great (see below). Prices are a little higher than other places we ate in the Keys, but this was easily justified by the high quality and generous. The kids spaghetti can feed a full sized adult, ditto for the kids steak. I had the Mahi plate "Key West Style" and the portion was comically large -- like the whole dinner plate was fish. I'm a very big eater (easily eating all my food and the leftovers of others), but I tapped out at like 90%. It was incredibly fresh and delicious and the single best piece of fish I had on the entire vacation. My wife had the seafood trio and it was really good (and more reasonably portioned). My daughter had the chocolate cake for dessert and it was good but nothing amazing. Overall, I was very impressed by Hobo's and I'd easily recommend to other Yelpers.

    Shrimp Risotto
    Diana D.

My fiancé and I had the most delicious meal. We will return and order the Lobster and Shrimp Louisiana and Shrimp Risotto again. Both were large portions with leftovers packed up to savor a second time. We sat outside and though it was a windy evening the patio was pleasant and our food stayed hot. Our server was good even though we had to ask for more water.

This is what I had to take home there was so much yummyness left.
    Dale L.

The most amazing food we've had yet in the upper keys. Great staff. Fresh fresh seafood. Can't say enough. Shrimp risotto to die for. Seafood paradise omg I would have expected to pay at least 15$ more a plate for what we got.

    Blackened Shrimp Mixed Bowl (HUGE)
    Madelyn A.

I got the blackened shrimp mixed bowl and it was HUGE, the shrimp was very flavorful and everything combined was so good. The restaurant was very pretty inside and had a menu that would please anyone. Everyone in my party loved their food! The service was fast and friendly, will definitely be coming here again!

The place is small and we sat at the bar. It's a cool, dive bar vibe with memorabilia on the wall. There were only a handful of others there, but the service was slow, especially considering it wasn't very crowded. It seems like the waitress was distracted and forgot about us. Eventually, we were taken care of. We all got one of their sodas and thought h they tasted good. We tried to order their award-winning fish dip, listed on the specials board, but the waitress said they were out of chips. Ok, fine -- we said "forget it" and moved onto the main course. We all ordered some variation of the Fancy Nancy, their namesake burger. It was a good burger but not the best in Florida. Not even close. The fries were frozen and nothing to write home about. Others in our party ordered the "award-winning" potato salad, which tasted pretty good. As an aside, I ordered my burger medium well, and it was cooked as desired. Everyone else ordered their burger medium and two were very pink, more like medium rare or rare. It seems like most of their awards and accolades were earned pre-COVID. We wanted to like this local spot but I have to imagine it's not what it once was.

Five stars, and I want to explain this properly because High Tide in Key Largo is absolutely a…read moreplace people should experience at least once. This is one of those spots that immediately tells you it's a local favorite the second you walk in. It feels homey, lived in, and deeply rooted in the community. The average crowd definitely skews older, which honestly just shows how loyal the regulars are and how long this place has been doing something right. We stood for a minute or two when we arrived, which wasn't a problem at all, but the initial interaction felt a little abrupt. Nothing hostile, just very direct and urgent. We later found out that Cathy is the owner, and it became clear very quickly that this place is her whole world. She works hard, moves fast, and runs on urgency. That energy can sometimes come off sharp, especially to visitors who aren't used to that local, no frills style, but we gave her the benefit of the doubt. There were moments throughout our visit where the tone felt a little rough around the edges, and it wasn't just with us, we noticed it with other tables too. It didn't feel personal, more like someone who is stretched thin and running on fumes. To her credit, there were moments where she self corrected, and I genuinely believe this was just a long day rather than bad intentions. Running a place like this day in and day out is not easy, and you can feel how much effort goes into keeping it moving. This review isn't meant to tear anyone down, just to be honest for future guests so they know what to expect walking in. What truly changed our entire experience and pushed this from a four star visit to a solid five was our server. Her name started with a T, she wore glasses, and she was African American, and she was an absolute blessing. She treated us with warmth, patience, and genuine care, like we were family she was looking out for. When we sat down and the table needed to be wiped, she handled it gracefully without a single awkward moment. Everything she did felt intentional and kind. She was attentive without hovering, respectful, and genuinely happy to be doing her job. There was also a sweet older Latina woman clearing tables who was just as lovely and welcoming. It became very clear that despite the different personalities, this place functions as a team, and the heart of High Tide lives in the people who treat guests with care and humanity. If you get that server whose name starts with a T, you are in excellent hands. Now let's talk about the food, because this is where High Tide really shines. The hash brown casserole is a straight ten out of ten. No exaggeration. Comfort food perfection. Crispy, savory, and absolutely worth ordering. The country style platter we ordered was also a ten according to my friend, hearty and satisfying in the best way. The lobster benedict was good, I would give it about an eight. It's a fun, unique option if you want to try something different, but not the standout compared to the rest of the menu. And then there's the real star of the show, the Key lime pie. Even if you are not hungry, come for the pie. This is hands down the best Key lime pie I have ever had. Perfectly balanced, not overly tart, smooth and almost cheesecake like in texture. It's the kind of dessert that makes you pause after the first bite because it's that good. Beautifully presented too. The decor is charming and thoughtfully cluttered in a way that feels authentic, not staged. The bathrooms are old but very clean. Parking is a little quirky but manageable, and there is parking available if you're patient. Overall, the vibe is cozy, memorable, and unmistakably local. Would I come back? Absolutely, especially for the food and that pie. Cathy, you are clearly working your ass off, and I hope this was just a rough day. This review comes with honesty and flowers, not shade. Five stars for the food, the heart, and the people who make this place what it is. I do recommend it.
