Our first and probably last visit. We came because of the reviews and did not have the same experience with our meal. I loved being on the water, our service was friendly and prompt but the food was less than 3 stars. We both ordered the Mahi, one of our favorites. The fried mahi was overly battered and dry, the recommended pasta salad was overdressed, it tasted like it was all mayonnaise. The blackened mahi was seriously overcooked, dry and barely edible. The side salad was fresh and large , that along with the jalapeño tartar sauce were the highlights of the meal. If you have a boat the dock-and-dine feature is a perfect touch, allowing you to pull up by boat and enjoy the views while you eat. No boat, no problem. A+!!! We came here looking for a restaurant to watch the sunset! When we pulled up, we were a little skeptical, but don't sleep on Blackwater Siren! The service was great. They let us go stand out back while watching the sunset and offered to get us drinks. And the food was exceptional. 2 of us ordered the coconut shrimp and one ordered the Harvey (server's recommendation). Those were up there with some of the best coconut shrimp I've ever had. The shrimp were JUMBO and the portion was generous. The steak fries needed salt, but all in all - delicious! My friend who ordered the Harvey said it was awesome too. Cute tiki bar with super rustic vibes. The space is super big and casual and the food was amazing! The screened in area allows you to see the boats coming in and we walked along the dock to check for any fun fish. The staff was all super friendly and everything we had was great! The onion rings are to die for and portions are HUGE. The beer battered fried shrimp was so light and delicious. Portions were big and everything was great! 3 1/2 stars. I was part of a large group (14) that descended on the place late last Friday night. It took a loooong time for the food to arrive. My wife and I split an order of onion rings (large, heavily breaded, incredibly crunchy), and I had the (grilled) fish Reuben. The hogfish upgrade didn't make a difference that I could taste, and their making it with wheat toast and coleslaw rather than rye and sauerkraut were definitely not upgrades. Overall ok. Blackwater Siren completely blew me away. I ordered the coconut shrimp and WOW--it was absolutely delicious. You can tell it's breaded right there at the restaurant and cooked fresh. The texture was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with just the right touch of coconut flavor. Hands down the best coconut shrimp I've ever had! The waffle fries were also amazing--crispy, golden, and super satisfying. And don't even get me started on the conch fritters... they were so yummy! Great spot right off/below the highway. GPS might be a little weird, but take any of the exits to the yacht club or resort- the restaurant is next to the resort. Also, it's a great spot to watch the sunset. Service was pretty quick and the workers were very pleasant. The food is good, coconut onion rings and sweet potato fries were the highlights for me. We were here last year, and yes, we came back! I had the absolute best French dip sandwich I have ever had - like in my life! Ingrid, our server, was really good - and I had asked her about whether or not I should try the prime rib French dip -- I mean cuz we are at a seafood place - she assured me it was awesome and it was. Mediocre food. Bad service. Sat at the bar ordered 2 combo platters. Both were missing a side. When we i formed the bartender it took her 30 mins to get 2 sides of cole slaw and actually only came back with one. By then we were too tired to say anything. And cherry on top, the large bus boy coughed on the slaw a couple of times as he came to us. Aaaaaand they charged us for the slaw haha. The bartender was just unprofessional and unfriendly. The food was good my meal (pasta with veggies) was really good! The mahi was good and we didn't love the onion rings. The atmosphere is nice it's a tiki bar on the water with great views. The server was friendly, helpful and funny! I enjoyed watching the sunset. Overall we would return. Our meal for 4 of us was $120. They add a 3% credit card fee. They do have a kids menu that is reasonably priced and it seems like they allow smoking because when we arrived it smelled like cigarette smoke. We had the mai tai and it was yummy! Hidden away in the mangroves under the bridge at the Yacht Club exit north of Key Largo. Funky tiki bar vibe right on the water with docking for boats. Large screened dining area with spectacular sunset views. Very friendly, courteous staff. Extensive beer and wine selection. This is indeed a hidden gem. Depending on your navigation, you might end up back on the bridge and not under it just before getting to Key Largo to find this place. Thankfully, the road is pretty friendly if you make a mistake. Keep looking and you will find it. If you find the big tiki hut building with the sign saying they are closed on Tuesdays, you made it. They seem to cater to boat traffic quite a bit and service certainly has a local flare to it...when I ordered the Crazy Lady brew the waiter said, "oh, the crazy B..." Anyway... The food was surprisingly good. The Calamari - Lightly fried calamari served with savory marinara sauce was good, but the sauce could have been thicker. The Buffalo Shrimp panko breaded & tossed in hot sauce was a little light on the buffalo flavor, but that was okay. The Harvey Fish Sandwich - A Key Largo traditional favorite. Grilled Mahi with American cheese, tomato, & tartar sauce toasted on whole wheat. Yes, blackened for me, was outstanding. However, the real winner of the place was the frozen margaritas. Please do not go here. Not sure at all why it has some good reviews, but our experience was terrible. We waited a long time to be seated, even though we had our name down for a table and there were plenty. Once seated, the server was unfriendly and had no interest in taking our order or getting our food. It took quite a while despite a fairly empty restaurant to get our food, and when it came it was quite bad. This is a place known for seafood and we've not had fish this bad in a very long time. "Grilled" dishes were burnt and almost impossible to cut even with a sturdy knife. To complete the atmosphere, Blackwater Siren had a grimy bathroom and dogs roaming around looking for table scraps. Go elsewhere for decent seafood and don't even consider this place. read more

My wife found the reviews here on Yelp and stopped here for lunch on our way out of the keys. We sat in the screened in outside upper patio alongside the dock by the 1/2 sunken boat. Rustic local bar and grill on bay side with friendly and fast service. We started with conch fritters and coconut onion rings that were excellent! Between all of us we had a tuna melt, pulled pork sandwich, tuna poke wrap and I had a great grilled grouper sandwich. All were fresh, well seasoned and tasted excellent! I called ahead on a Tuesday to make sure they were open this time. The manager said they're closed on Tuesdays during the slow season, but yes, they are open. So we stopped here for lunch. The back of the restaurant is right on the water, which is nice. There's a jetski rental place right next door, so we saw folks coming in & out getting on their jet ski's which was cool. The atmosphere is really laid back & unassuming, our waitress was pleasant & the food came fast. We both really liked the calamari w/ marinara, it was light, crisp, I just added a dash of salt & a squeeze of lemon which made it great! This little out of the way restaurant isn't one you're gonna happen upon without doing a little planning, I'd say it has a fish-camp feel to it, a little rustic, unsophisticated and I'd say without refinements. The screened in bar and dining areas will take you back in time - there were a few dogs laying around on the planked floor under their owners feet waiting on a crumb to drop. Some drive here as I did but a lot of the customers arrive by boat, most are in flip flops, rip-stock shorts and tank tops some even bring their fresh caught fish ready for the kitchen to create something enticing with a maximum portion of 12 ounces per person for a fee and extra for the sides. The bar is surrounded with high back wooden life guard like chairs, a couple of bakelite ashtrays were scattered about with a few half smushed butts one still smoldering next to an empty beer bottle still sitting in its ring of condensate from the sweating bottle while an old man watched football on the big screen above the front wall absent of any volume. We grabbed a corner table dockside waiting on Kimberly to bring my $4.00 Yuegnling Draft and what turned out to be a complimentary piña colada (deduction for missing the clam chowder I'm guessing). The boats continued to arrive after sunset making for some interesting people watching opportunities, no doubt a few were buzzed and stopped in for some nutrition, thankfully all the docking was well executed with no mishaps. Our food arrived after quite a wait but no complaints the food was worth it and our server popped in a few time so I'd say it was attentive - coconut crusted shrimp, fresh side salad with balsamic dressing, blackened mahi mahi with sweet potato fries all delicious, these in-house made jumbo coconut shrimp are the best on the planet well maybe in The Keys anyways. Off the beaten path, this joint is a great spot for lunch/drinks if you are just starting your trek out to the Keys. Once again, Reviewers did not let us down with this casual low key find. Look, be ready for some fried food galore. Fried seafood galore. The restaurant is situated on what appears to be a huge dock which is really cool, and I guess there is an alligator that lives in the water... although it did not come up to join us unfortunately. We ordered a round of drinks and a bunch of food. My items consisted of the Coconut Onion Rings for the table (SO good), the fried shrimp plate and a Spicy Siren (who doesn't love muddled jalapeno?) and everything was fantastic. My husband got the Macho Fish sandwich and loved it, and my niece was raving about the Key Lime Martini. The staff was amazing, I believe one of the owners was helping service/shaking up our cocktails and he really made the experience wonderful with his great sense of humor and welcoming vibes.
