The food came out quickly and was delicious. I'm giving 4 stars because the service was a little slow. It took a while for our server to greet us, and they didn't bring clean plates after we finished our appetizer. We also asked for our sandwiches to be cut in half, but ended up having to do it ourselves. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and the beautiful atmosphere. What you order matters here. We were here twice and our first dishes were outstanding! The Mahi Mahi was delicious and beautifully prepared. Marker 88 is a beautiful waterfront restaurant and the live music added to the atmosphere. One thing we really appreciated traveling with kids was the beach area where they could walk around and explore while we waited for our food. The restaurant is very large, with plenty of seating spread throughout different areas, which helped it feel much less crowded than many waterfront restaurants. Our wait was also not overly long. The atmosphere is a little more refined, so it doesn't have quite the same laid-back, barefoot Keys feel as most of the other waterfront restaurants. If you're looking for something more polished, this is a great fit. A few things we noticed while dining with kids: the kids' meals were brought out with our appetizer without anyone asking, which wasn't ideal since we wanted them to eat with the rest of us. The portions of the kids' macaroni and pasta dishes were huge--two of our children shared one meal and still didn't finish their portion. If you have younger kids or don't like wasting food, consider sharing. The food overall was a little inconsistent. The fried calamari and my lobster linguini were both lacking some flavor. I did appreciate that the lobster came in large, generous chunks rather than getting lost throughout the pasta, and the presentation was beautiful. Service was good overall, but there was a small timing issue. Someone other than our server delivered the meals, and our server didn't come back for a while afterward. I was left waiting for salt and pepper, and by the time I was able to season my food, it wasn't as hot as it should have been. The standout dish of the meal was the steak fajitas--they were absolutely incredible. The green salsa was so good I could have eaten it with a spoon, and the phyllo dough-style wrap instead of a traditional tortilla really elevated the entire dish. It was definitely not your typical fajita, but it was easily our favorite bite of the trip. A true 10/10 recommendation, and honestly, a dish I'd go back specifically to order again. Overall, Marker 88 is worth visiting for the gorgeous waterfront setting, and especially the steak fajitas. While a few dishes missed the mark, the experience and location make it a memorable Keys dining stop. read more

This place was awesome! Beautiful spot to catch the sunset and the food was delicious. I got the Citrus Burrata salad and it was sooooo good! 10 out of 10. I did order a mahi filet to go with it but it came out super later after I had mostly finished the salad which was annoying but the salad was actually better on its own. The Maui was cooked well but too salty. My dinner-mates both got the shrimp fajitas and it was so good! I would definitely go back for that. We also shared the tuna wontons as an app with high was good. Server was nice as well. Price point across the menu was a little high but I thought the food quality was on par with it. We hit a ton of restaurants during our week at Islamorada. Marker 88 was one of our favorites. A bit more upscale than most of them but worth it. They have a wonderful menu and a great chef and probably the best Keylime pie that we've had here and we had it every night. We liked it here so much. We came back a couple days later in the afternoon just to drink beers and have a Keylime pie. The location is amazing ,beautiful sunsets right on the water, entertainment ,and a very aesthetically pleasing restaurant. I would definitely put this place on my list if I was going to Islamorada. Second visit here, we are staying in Marathon, but I wanted to visit again this year, so hubby agreed to the 40 miles each drive. We shared rock shrimp tempura, delicious and generous. I had hoggish, hubby had grouper, we both added the key lime Tabasco butter - OMG - that stuff is like crack!!!!!! Fish was cooked perfectly. Great ambiance and sunset views but the service was terrible. I rarely review restaurants but I had to this time. We arrived without a reservation and were seated on the sand just as the sun was setting. Pleasantly pleased. Although the hostess barely greeted us and played around with menus for a good minute before asking us how were we and walking us to our table - it was really odd. We sat there for several minutes before a server came to the table. We already knew what we wanted to order by this time to give an indication of how long it took. She took drink orders. Water for me, beer for hubby. She returned in fairly a short time with the beer. Then left again and returned a few minutes later to fill water glasses but was surprised we didn't have any. She went to get them, returned with water glasses and took our orders. My husband asked for another beer without her asking. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Then it started lightly raining and other patrons began to leave their seats. My husband grabbed an umbrella that wasn't being used and began to set it up for us. A waiters assistant came to help. The waitress showed up to check on us and asked if we were ok, we said yes. Which was true at the moment. We never saw her again. Literally. We still don't know what happened to her. We finished our food and drinks and waited about 30 minutes for her to return but nope. My husband had to go to the bar to request our check and the bartender brought it for us and said he found our server. She never came back to our table though. Ridiculous. In hindsight, we should have asked for a manager because this situation is so unacceptable. Furthermore the bartender should have sent the server to our table to finish her job. I will say my chicken curry was very tasty. My husband ordered lobster mac and cheese and it was about a 7/10. read more

Not impressed. The place is BEAUTIFUL. We haven't been in 20 years and they have completely redone the restaurant. Wow! The tables were comfortable, sitting under the trees was beautiful, the rope fences were a perfect touch. The hostesses when we walked in were not welcoming at all. The one girl barely looked up when we walked in. I told her table for two. She didn't say anything else just typed on an iPad. I still don't know if she was looking for a table or playing a game. She started to take us to a table and another customer walked up to complain that workers wrangled a loose chicken and tied it up to a tree. The customer was complaining that they were were too aggressive with it. The hostess responded that, "it ain't our chicken, it was on someone's table so they took care of the problem." My husband and I walked away a little bit so they could talk more privately because it got heated. We walked back and the hostess was gone. So we told the other girl we were two and she sat us. In a bush. The table had leaves touching us as we sat. We asked if we could sit at another table, this hostess huffed out loud but sat us at a different table. Our waitress, Versace, came over with water. Took our drink order and came back with our drinks from the bar. Took our order. I think she had tables all over the restaurant because I saw her walking to the far end of the restaurant a few times. I wanted a second drink but she did not come back. I walked up to the bar and there was a bar back there, but no bartender. Bad timing I guess. I waited, no one ever came, I looked for our waitress, but never saw her. I went back to the table and our food was there. I ordered the $42 grouper. It came with wedged potatoes that were so over cooked. The grouper was overdone. It was not enjoyable. Versace did come back with something in her hand and asked how everything was. At this point I was half way finished and was not going to tell her then that it was not fantastic. For $42 I was hoping for a delish dinner. Hubby had chicken. It was good, but he would have enjoyed a bit more sauce, but she did not come back in time to ask. Once we were finished we waited for 15 mins for her to come back to ask if we were finished. Once she gave us the check she was back in 5 mins with our credit card and pretty much hovered while we signed the check. Didn't see her all night, but when it was time to pay, she was all over it. As we were leaving a different customer was complaining about something different. It seemed the staff at this restaurant are not keeping their customers happy. Not friendly, not attentive and not great chefs. It will be another 20 years before we go back, if ever. read more

There was a live musician when we went. It's perfect for a celebratory dinner or a romantic date night vibe. Highly recommend going around sunset. Food highlights include the citrus burrata salad, parmesan crusted chicken, the key lime seafood, and the espresso martini. The mac and cheese was also delicious and could be an entree (for most, unless you have a big appetite) with how large the serving is. Overall everyone was happy with what they ate as the ingredients were fresh and the offerings unique. Today was the first time hubby and I visited this restaurant in mid-afternoon, at exactly 2pm. The service was a bit slow to begin although there were plenty of empty tables, but got better once the head waiter inquired if we had been served. The beer and appetizer were refreshing and the food was tasty, as always. However, even though we sat under the shade, the humidity at that time was at 77% which made the 85 degrees feel like 97 according to the weather channel. There was absolutely no breeze whatsoever and no fans anywhere in sight to relieve the agony. That is the reason for the 4-star. It was torturous to eat while perspiring profusely even though we both wore light summer clothing. For such a gorgeous outdoor restaurant, with delicious menu items, I don't understand why management has not thought about placing fans in strategic locations to make it comfortable for its patrons. Needless to say, we rushed through our delicious meal in order to get back to our car to blast the A/C. Other than the uncomfortable summer heat, I absolutely recommend this restaurant. Marker 88 came in clutch for us (you may see a Kristen H on here, she's my partner) and my mom, sister, brother in law and their 3 kids, one day on a family vacation when our planned restaurant was gonna have too long of a wait. 1) make a reservation, especially if you're a big group. We did that the second time we went and it was great. 2) Ambiance is great. 3) Service is lovely and attentive but can get weirdly slow at points. 4) Food is delightful. We stopped here on our way back home from Key West and stopping at many WyLAND art displays. He has a beautiful dolphin statue as you walk up into this beautiful restaurant. The hostess was very gracious and didn't mind our visit. The view and restaurant is absolutely stunning! What a spectacular view with outdoor seating viewing the water! It was beautiful, very clean and has a lovely lil gift shop. Unfortunately, we had a big breakfast when we left KW! My DH did take a peak at the menu and there wasn't much on it for us vegetarians!
