Great food! We had a family gathering with the opportunity to try a wonderful assortment of fantastic dishes. The eggplant tower appetizer and smoked fish dip are outstanding. The salads come out cold and crisp, your choice of soup, ceaser or house salad with entrees. The entrees we tried included veal, fish, chicken and the eggplant. Everyone raved about the entrees and trying to decide which was the favorite was impossible. The cheesecake is to die for. The service is top notch, and the wine selection is unbeatable. Tons of wines to choose from and a cute little counter where you order. Some nice indoor and outdoor seating so you have the option. Service wise we ordered to go. But the over the phone ordering was super simple and the ladies at the front when we picked up our food were so sweet. Everything we ordered was delicious! Absolutely amazing, while driving south to Key West, we saw a sign that read "best key lime pie" we pulled over, whipped into the parking lot and was greeted with a smile and a guaranteed promised that the key lime pie was the best... whelp it was the Truth!! That pie was finger licking GOOD!! It was creamy, fresh and just the right amount of lime. (I did lick the fork) it was amazing. Most importantly the STAFF, the most amazing group of people ever, the owner was very pleasant and welcoming also. The restaurant was very chic, laid back vibe indoor and outdoor. It was our first time there and we were really disappointed. It took the waitress a long time to wait on us. Once we ordered a peanut butter pie, I finally asked about it 45 minutes later and she said they ran out but she waited on other people behind us. I was really disappointed because it was walking distance to where we were staying. Of course we never ordered food because we weren't waited on for an hour or so. I am so patient with the waitress atmosphere but this was out of hand. They definitely need an older manager on site instead of young people running the place. We ordered take away which my husband picked up. My order of two chicken tacos was ok. The chipotle sauce which was asked to be put on the side was completely forgotten. One flour tortilla was amazingly soft the other quite hard. Not sure what happened there. The order of Cappelli D ' Angelia, pasta with tomato, artichokes, capers, garlic that was ordered with chicken did not have chicken. Leftovers were put in the fridge to be soon forgotten. Great little gem in Islamorada. The service was great, bathroom was clean (that's extremely important for me) and the food was good. I ordered the Greek salad and added grilled chicken to it. The salad was fresh and tasty, the chicken could've had more flavor but the salad dressing and fresh ingredients balanced it very well so it tasted great either way. Was trying to find something low carb in the area since I'm here for work And several people at the job suggested this place to try. They got fish tacos and all sorts of carb goodness to enjoy, seems like their sandwiches are more of a go to and they sounded amazing but I decided to try their Honey garlic chicken with a Cesar salad. To pretend I was still following my low carb diet. Essentially they were chicken tenders in sauce and as soon as I placed my order not 5 min later she came back with my food so that's fast! No complaints on the taste honestly the chicken also had a bite to it in spice. This place is packed and people come here obviously for the vibe and the great food. They you have an amazing selection of wine and beer that you don't see anywhere. Specials are creative and delicious. Always start with a cup of chili, it has lots of beans lots of meat. I would recommend coming here regularly. I just had the most delicious meal here!! They were kind enough to make me a custom vegetarian friendly sandwich that was absolutely phenomenal. It was a meatless Reuben with with tomatoes, banana peppers, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and thousand island on grilled rye. All of the people in my party enjoyed their meals also. Great local spot! If your looking for something that isn't a seafood trough and need a break from fried seafood this is the place! Everyone in our party of 8 was happy with their food. The snapper special was fabulous. All the seafood was fresh. Even my vegetarian was happy with his eggplant Parmesan. The wine selection was nice. The service was good. The staff was so nice. You know a place is amazing, because it is where all the Locals go to eat! This isn't our first time at City Hall Cafe, we have been coming here for years! They have amazing sandwiches and entrees, but you have to check out their specials, they change them everyday (Mexican Night on Tuesday is very good). They have the best Fish Tacos and pasta in the STATE, one of my favorite. I am not a big wine guy, but my fiance is and she says that their wine selection is amazing. I am the beer guy, I LOVE THIS PLACE for beer, they have Islamorada Beer company on Tap, which is the local beer company, plus many more selections. We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. We ended up at this restaurant kind of process of elimination because so many restaurants were closed and the few that were open were packed. The food was absolutely delicious! We are not big seafood people but since we're in the keys my husband wanted to try some fish. The mahi pomodoro was excellent. As a Key Largo resident I have the pleasure to visit many local business's. Some are great and others I will never visit again. I realize tourism is important to the keys, and I feel an obligation as a resident to share candid and honest unbiased opinions with the people on yelp. City Hall Cafe is one place I will never go back to again. I gave two stars because the food was actually pretty good, however, the woman behind the counter was a perfect example of what happens when an owner hires a wrong employee. I have rarely had to interact with an individual who was able to leave such bad taste in my mouth after eating good food. There is just something that spoils good things when the wait staff has such a rotten attitude! Every question that I asked was responded to with eye rolling, deep breathes, or other offensive body language. Excuse me for not wanting radishes on my salad, I don't like them. And yes, I am sorry because I can not have your house vinaigrette dressing, because it contains sugar. I'm sorry that I need regular vinegar and oil, an no, I don't mind pouring it myself into the plastic cups your gave me. Forgive me for asking if my four year old can use the rest room, and by the way, there were no napkins in the bag. I gained some insight as to the reasons for abusive service when I asked whether the woman who kept stomping her feet, tapping her fingers, and looking at the ceiling was having a bad day. She did explain that it was shift change time and she wanted to go home. I do get it. We all have bad days, but next time, please tell me before I place my order so I can leave and go somewhere else. There are plenty of great places to eat between Islamarada and Key Largo. Really, isn't it the whole experience that matters? Perhaps if I had waited another ten minutes before entering the restaurant, the counter girl that the other reviewer in Yelp raved about may have been working and my review would have been very different. Sometimes It's all about timing. However, no discounts or compensation was offered for the really bad and obnoxious service, and honestly, we all have bad days, but it's never appropriate to take them out on a family of three who simply stop in for a bite to eat. I would have preferred to have spoken with the owner, the truth is the food was really very good, as long as you didn't mind eating to go food without a napkin. My son wound up with cat sup all over his car seat and no way to clean up, and yes, the woman at the counter did assure me that everything I would need was in the bag. read more

I never thought I'd see it, but yesterday, I watched the owner threaten to kill a customer by putting his head under a truck tire on US 1. Apparently, this customer (the victim) was engaged in a political conversation with 2 other customers and it got a little heated. Instead of asking them to keep it down, or move it outside, this business owner decided to start with the death threat. The owner seems like a hot-head, as he lost his temper in seconds. The customer who was threatened didn't seem overly concerned (he was probably armed) and simply left. For anyone who follows crazy Florida news, people here have been shot for less than this store owner said. Regarding the food, this was my first trip into City Hall after several months. We stopped going because of repeated mistakes in our orders, especially to-go orders. We returned yesterday and I had the blackened crab cake tacos. They were awful. They were served on soggy flour tortillas, covered in shredded lettuce and chopped tomatoes. Underneath the lettuce was a dab of a crab cake that was flavorless. My wife had a salad that was room temperature with blackened fish on top. She says her fish had a bitter taste and she couldn't finish it. The server was inattentive and seemed preoccupied with other things. We dared not complain. read more

The Key Lime pie here is AWFUL. Avoid it like the plague. The sign out front says the Key Lime pie is "Award Winning", well they must've gotten that award for having the worst Key Lime pie in the Keys. I originally trusted that the sign out front meant that the pie was excellent and so I bought a whole pie. Bad idea. It was sooo bland. There was no tart, no tang, and it was barely even sweet. Blahhhhhh! I ate one piece and threw the rest away. Why eat flavorless pie? This 1 star review is based solely on the Key Lime pie. I just didn't want anyone else to fall victim to their boastful sign out front. "Award Winning" signs can be incredibly misleading. Hopefully everything else they sell is excellent!
