I really wanted to give this place a good rating, but that changed when eating my last half of a torta I found a piece of plastic from a scrubbing brush. Whether or not this was what they used to clean the grill/flat top, finding an unknown item in your food is just poor food service. You should know to check what materials you clean your cooking surfaces on and make sure that it's completely clean before throwing food on there to serve. It's common sense. Bad enough - when I contacted Seamless to inform them of the issue and get my money back, they stated that the restaurant chose not to do so and was sending a new item. What makes you think I want another sandwich, after I just found a dirty piece of scrubbing brush in my previous one? You couldn't even give a partial refund? Or took the item off my delivery bill? Thats truly BS in my opinion. I told them I didn't want a new item as it would go to waste because I would not eat it, I hate wasting food and this would be JUST THAT. But no - they were sending it anyway. So I definitely won't be eating here/ordering from here again. Read through ALL of the reviews to make sure you want to take the risk. The owner should take the time the properly inspect the place, and make sure their food quality is up to par. read more

Ordered 20 mins before closing so i didn't expect the freshest best food. I received exactly what i expected! Ordered 1 Flautas with rice and beans. Flautas was hard and seemed old like they re fried old ones. PLUSSS, i found a BONEEE IN ONE OF THEM!! I almost swallowed a bone! (I was hungry and was eating too quick) thank God i realized it smh. Rice and beans had barely any flavor just like the chicken Flautas.... Food is ok probably would order again just please check your chicken for bones!! No good Also i paid cash and was supposed to receive $8 change was going to tip the delivery guy $5 until he took it upon HIMSELF to only hand me $1 of MYY change ??! I'm pretty stingy with reviews so tend not to write one unless I'm either vastly disappointed or extremely satisfied. This experience fortunately falls in the latter category. I had a sudden yen for chiles rellenos and was interested in trying out a new source. Isabela's was one of the restaurants featuring the dish within ready delivery-range, but I was put off by the listing where the item showed up among the "Antojitos Isabelitas." I was interested in a dinner--not an appetizer--portion, so uncertain whether to order. Fortunately a couple of photographs by previous Yelpers were able to confirm that this was truly a main. And what arrived was a very generous portion (two peppers, not just one as delivered by several other local eateries). A separate order of pico de gallo was again a generous portion and, most important, absolutely home-made, not the out-of-the-jar version supplied by many other local restaurants. Both the pico and an order of guacamole were among the best and most authentic which I've enjoyed here in the neighborhood. A few suggestions to the restaurant: Please consider recategorizing the chiles rellenos so that they don't appear in the appetizer section but rather among the "Typical Mexican Dishes" Please consider offering smaller portions of both pico de gallo and guacamole, as there will surely be other customers like me who don't necessarily need an 8 oz portion of these items when ordered as condiments. This restaurant did not do it for me. I went in for some shrimp tacos which they do not make because they weren't listed on the menu. Neither do they have shrimp quesadilla listed, which is what I settled for. Since the waitress said they would make me shrimp tacos for $6e, no thanks. The quesadilla was wack, served with some old stale salad and no guac. A water down lemonade that was pure water with a dash of sugar. I took one sip, stirred it up then took another and gave up. The restaurant is not clean. There were flies everywhere. They have the weirdest setup I have ever seen in my life. Tables with regular chairs and fold up metal chairs. The waitress was a sweetheart and that is what the 2 stars are for. I almost died when I saw the condition of the bathroom. Holy crap had I seen the bathroom first I would've ran out. It was filthy. A nasty bathroom equals a dirty kitchen, gross! I wouldn't recommend or step foot in this joint again. read more

After trying different dishes here, I can say yes, is a great place to eat Mexiacan food. The Bandeja Campesina at 15.00 is great if you are feeling very hungry, so much food, I had to take the rest home. The guacamole is excellent, was able to find bits of avocado and onions in it. The tamarind juice, you can skip is too watery, settle for a can of juice. They do have vegetarian meals. read more

Just an overall frustrating experience for breakfast/brunch on a Sunday. Based on Food and price, this would be about 4 stars, but based on organization and how long it took simple breakfast to pop out of the kitchen, and how requests to get the check, just went ignored, and take out orders seem to supersede the in house customer, I'm at a loss of why these things happen. This place is also, not the cleanest place in the world. Overall, I might stop back for a sandwich some day, but otherwise, there are other options. read more

I love this locally owned restaurant, my parents used to bring me here as a kid. Now I continue to come with and without them. I've tried different plates throughout the years but my personal favorites are the tamales and the taquitos (small tacos) they're both only $1.50 each. read more

Just ordered delivery from here. It's delicious. We have a couple mexican restaurants within a block radius of our apartment in South Slope and we also frequent Nuevo Mexico. All are pretty great and more on par with west coast Mexican than Manhattan Mexican but this place is a cut above. The green sauce is tangy and spicy and the salsa is great. I ordered a burrito (safe) for my first time but I'm excited to dive deeper into the menu and try their more authentic specialties because this was WAY more authentic in its execution than a burrito needs to be. We decided to try a new mexican restaurant after calling our favorite place and finding out they had run out of guacamole (total bummer). Isabela's was empty when we walked in. The waitress was friendly, but got our order wrong. It wasn't a language issue as I spoke to her in Spanish. The food took an extremely long time to come out. I would have looked that over if the food had been at least comparable to other Mexican restaurants. The guacamole was not seasoned or spicy as requested. I loved the vibe in this place the first time I went. It was early on a Sunday evening and so quiet my friends actually pulled out a deck of cards and we happily played some rummy while waiting for the food to arrive. The second time I think was a Friday--totally different scene with the jukebox blaring and the place jampacked. That had its own appeal too and I liked the music. As for the food, what I've tried so far is good to amazing. I definitely recommend trying the house specialties (handwritten sign on the bar) vs. regular menu items. Mole poblano is great, the sopa de mariscos is great. Shrimp a la mexicana from the menu just OK. There's a shrimp thing on the specials menu that is actually a ball of cornmeal and dried shrimp--interesting, but not what I expected even with 2 friends there who speak pretty good Spanish. Now that I know what they are, I'm seriously looking forward to trying the other specials--barbacoa goat, pork ribs in salsa verde, and a vegetarian dish for Lent, fried lambs-quarters patties. read more

Note: this is a review on their delivery, I've never been inside yet. Tonight was a bit comical. I ordered 3 tacos, 1 tostada and chips w/guac. I received 6 tacos and 2 drinks. So I called Grubhub to let them know I think I got someone elses food. While I was on the phone my real order showed up (they requested back the incorrect order, which is fine, but hopefully they didn't redeliver it). My real order was actually still incorrect, carne asada tacos instead of chicken, which I was actually fine with. We eat, all done. About 10 minutes later my doorbell rings. I call down, they say "delivery", I say we "just got our delivery", he says "OK". Then they call my phone, they say "delivery downstairs", I say, "we already received and ate the delivery". Again he says "okay". Doorbell rings AGAIN. This time I just go down and take it from him. It's chips w/ guac and 1 tostada. lol...what?? Thanks for the extra food, Isabela. Sorry if I am scarfing on everyone elses dinner tonight. Luckily their food is delicious so I'm not mad. read more

Placed an order for pickup for empanadas. Had to clarify that EMPANADAS is what we wanted to order at least 3x. Went to go pick it up the next day and they gave us...tacos. Last time I checked, the word empanadas do not sound like tacos. Good job to whomever had taken the order over the phone. Perhaps you should get a hearing aid. Very disappointing because it doesn't make sense how you can get an order as simple as empanadas wrong. read more

We ordered take out and took an hour to get here but understand seeing as how it's the weekend. When the food got here we realized the sandwich we ordered had the things we specifically said not to add due to it being for a little kid. We called the lady back and she said she would not send another sandwich because we had "touched" the other one. Obviously we had touched it to check if it was made right. Immediately we requested our money back and we offered to return the food because we hadn't yet eaten. This restaurant does delivery, but the few times I called for delivery, they got my order wrong, and when I called to complain, they said they didn't make a mistake that it was I who was wrong. Then on the next delivery, I made the delivery guy check in front of me my order, it was wrong, the paper where the order I had given was written there, but it was the wrong food. When the delivery guy call to explain what was happening, they just told him to leave the food there, get paid, and leave. No apologies were given!!!! To be honest the food is good, specially the pozole, that is why, I no longer do delivery but pick up, but I always check in front of them my food before paying. I don't recommend eating in the place because it is always full of drunk men. I would have given them more stars if they had apologized and accepted their mistakes, I understand that no one is perfect but their failure to do that made me give them only two, and that is only because of their food. read more
