A colleague wanted to get pizza, and we were going to take the train but as we walked to the train, we saw a sign for pizza. As we walked closer, we saw that it was Masa Empanadas. I remember visiting their Bushwick location in 2019. There was no dining in at this location--there was a table and two chairs outside. She ordered a cheese, and I order a pepperoni. The pizzas remind me of the Sicilian slices, they were square. She got empanadas but I'm not a fan of baked empanadas. The service was quick, and I like the pizza. My colleague also enjoyed her pizza but wasn't a fan of the empanada--she also prefers her empanadas to be fried. All in all, I would go back for pizza. read more

I came across Masa Empanadas by chance and am so glad I tried the empanadas. They were delicious and the proportion of ingredients were perfect. I don't like it when it is overly cheesy and this had just the right amount of cheese in my mushroom empanada. The chicken empanada was flavorful and delicious as well. I especially loved how flaky and crispy the crust was even though it's baked. If I lived closer, I would come here regularly for sure. Highly recommend these empanadas. read more

Ordered online and picked them up at the window. Order was ready to go promptly and the person at the counter was friendly. Nice concept for a grab and go snack or light meal. I ordered the mushroom, smoked mozz, Argentinian beef, and spinach. They were decent empanadas, but not too memorable. The mushroom had wayyy more carmelized onions in it than mushrooms--which was overhelming. The smoked mozz could've been smokier, but the sundried tomatoes were a nice touch. The argentinian beef had so much potential--needed more seasoning. The spinach, similarly, lacked flavor--it was just... spinach. Overall they were decent empanadas, but I wouldn't go out of my way to have them again. The chimichurri was nice. Unfortunate that you have to pay 25 cents per cup and they're not automatically included, like most empanada spots. read more

Food is amazing. I had the beef, roasted chicken, and chicken chipotle. The beef and and chipotle were my favorite out of the three! It was just the perfect about of greasy with it not going overboard. The cashier was nice! It's only one person from what I can see. Also seating is limited. Only 4 little tables out front. This pop-up just opened up in Clinton Hill I tried: mushroom thyme: the cheese and flavors were so delicious!! creamy spinach: banana Nutella: still drooling thinking about this. I microwaved it so it was perfectly oozing with chocolate The chimichurri and red hot sauce complimented them really well. LOVED the empanadas from Masa Empanadas! I feel that these are a healthier option to other empanadas. I appreciate the amount of vegeterian options. The empanadas are a nice size and the filling is a generous portion. The flavors of all of them are great and they taste fresh. Because they are baked you dont feel that greasy texture. I shared with my hubby so we ate half of each lol. I especially enjoyed the mushroom empanada, it had wonderful flavor kind of meaty as mushrooms tend to give you that illusion. The Argentinian beef was also a favorite in my home. Will definately order again AND loved that they came in a pizza box, made it that much more fun! read more

Short review for a quick pick-up at a new sweet find! All the nomz, I implore you to check out this pop-up before they leave our beloved Clinton Hill! The pop up is located in a restaurant (short walk from C train on Clinton & Wash) whose name I'm blanking on at this moment but you'll physically walk into the restaurant to order! Menu mainly comprises of empanadas (savory and some sweet) a couple beverages, and 1-2 desserts. Each empanada is priced between $2.75-$3! We walked in around 6 pm on a Wednesday evening and had the empanadas in our hands within about 10 min. Fresh, hot, and so tasty. I'd say 1-2 is a snack and 4 could make a meal but I'd personally enjoy these with company to try out a bunch of different empanadas. We tried the roasted chicken, chipotle chicken, queso, and corn ones. All were simply delicious but my favorite was the chipotle chicken & corn. Please just go here. Get yo empanada fix on. Wow, I can't believe I waited so long to try this neighborhood spot. It's a simple window where you order and can sit outside at a few of its tables. The empanadas are baked and super tasty with a good amount of varieties. I had the Ham & Cheese, the Mushroom Thyme, and the Spinach & Cheese. The bonus, though, is that they also serve Roman-style pizza, arancini, and gelato! It's a little noisy since you're right on Fulton and you're also near the vent of the C train below. But I think it's still pretty great that you can walk up and grab some quick food or snacks. This is going to be a new regular spot for us. read more

Originally I loved this place. The guy that served me on 11/2/22 was polite and the food was good so I returned today (11/12/22) and the lady that served me was equally nice and even interacted with my baby whom was in her stroller. I bent over to play with my baby while we waited and my butt was burned. This is an order from a window spot and there's string lights with bulbs around the window even though they don't work. One of the bulbs was broken and my butt touched it. I got burnt and was literally able to smell my flesh. I even showed the lady the broken smoking light with a piece of my leggings hanging from it. The woman didn't even at least apologize. She just laughed and said "oh yeah I smell it". I came home and immediately removed my clothes and discovered the small burn on my butt. So I pass this spot often, my first time trying the empanadas. I got a deal 3 for $12 with a free soda. Now the food was piping hot, i got my order in like 5 mins and went to the subway and ate on the train. I was disappointed with the flavor/ quality of the beef, there was no cheese and even the crust wasnt right. The crust is usually bubbly, this crust is dry and flaky. My friend had recommended this place and I finally stopped by. I ordered 3 empanadas but one had split open during heating and I was given the split one and an unblemished one for a total of 4 empanadas. When I got home, I opened the box and it just looked great and very appetizing with small black napkins and some sauces. I cut open the empanadas to check what was inside (very nice roast chicken and ground beef) and began to taste. Delicious and not greasy. Great for a snack or add some salad for a great meal. Customer service is HORRIBLE. I don't know if the man I dealt with was a worker or the owner but he was very rude and disrespectful when I was trying to purchase food. He got upset because I questioned the price of my order. I'm entitled to do that when I'm spending my money and want to know how much my order it. He put my money down on the register and walked off. I will never purchase food from there again. People will treat you any kind of way if you allow them to. You will not be disrespectful to me and I'm putting money in your establishment. read more

Great little pop up on Fulton! The two empanadas we tried were the Chipotle chicken and the Vegan Eggplant. Both were fantastic!! Chicken was super moist and had just the right amount of kick. The eggplant was really juicy and saucy and flavorful. Only took off a star because I think the pastry is too thin to be fried, would prefer a crust that adds to the empanada vs just being a vehicle for the fillings.
