As often as I'm in the downtown Brooklyn area, and I've seen the Cesar Empanadas truck, I never tried them. There's always people waiting to order no matter if it's freezing cold or steaming hot. One day I just decided to give them a try. I got the cheese and the beef. I love a fried empanada and Cesar's empanadas hit the spot. The crust was nice and flaky. Also, I love the green hot sauce. I'm glad I finally tried their empanadas; I look forward to trying different ones.

A baked empanada with a golden-brown, flaky crust featuring small holes and uneven surface texture. It is placed on white paper, likely in a food service setting, and appears to be a savory pastry filled with ingredients such as beef, chicken, or vegetables.

Caesars Empanadas is hands down one of my favorite food trucks in Brooklyn! It's right outside the Atlantic Barclays train station, parked perfectly in front of the Apple Store, so it's super convenient when you're coming off the train and craving something good. There's usually a line, but it moves fast. I always order the classic chicken empanadas--crispy, perfectly golden crust with juicy, flavorful chicken inside. I did try the chicken spinach, empanadas once, but I still prefer the regular chicken more. The green sauce they give you? Just the right kick of spice without overpowering anything! Prices went up a bit (used to be $3.50 without cheese; now it's $4 regardless), but honestly, it's worth every cent. If you're ever in the area, you should try it out. Quick service, incredible empanadas, and always a satisfying experience!

There are these food trucks parked on the opposite end of the Barclays Center. I have been to this food truck for a while now. Service is fast and food is phenomenal. I dreamt about the mash potato empanada. So tasty. I would buy somethings and then I'll take it to public spaces to devour. By the way, you don't have to take spicy green and red sauces that they include with the burrito orders. I don't expect ambience to be a factor as this is still eating outdoors.

I feel so pretentious when I say I've had better xyz elsewhere or in a different country but I do not mean to sound that way--I only wish to share what my basis of comparison is. I'm one month past a work trip to Bogota where I had the chance to learn about Colombian empanadas on a food tour. That being said, Cesar's truck is one that I pass frequently to and from Whole Foods. I stopped once recently to have a snack after putting away my groceries. I ordered one beef, one rice and beans, and one birria empanada. I found the crust delicious and not too oily. The ground beef empanada was a little disappointing in terms of how moist it was. It was not dry but I've had much juicier filling from Empanada Mama in LES. All empanadas were good and had a nice amount of filling but they were not tasty enough to warrant a second visit.

Best empanadas! $3 each n 50c more w cheese. Beef is really good. Spinach n cheese is also good. I took 5 empanadas home n put in in the toaster. Sooo good.

Beef empanada - A hand holds a beef empanada wrapped in white paper, with the empanada partially unwrapped to show its golden, crispy crust and filling of beef, vegetables, and spices. The background appears to be the interior of a vehicle, with a dashboard and some electronic devices visible.

Stumbled onto this food truck for a quick bite. They have a multitude of fillings. My favorite was the beef. The empanada fillings were okay, but was really good with their green sauce. The truck accepts Apple pay which was a huge plus. The lady running the truck was very sweet and kind. I hope I run into her again if I'm in the area.

Two empanadas with crispy, golden-brown crusts are placed in a foil container, accompanied by cucumber slices, a lemon wedge, and a green sauce. The empanadas appear to be filled with ingredients such as vegetables and possibly meat, with visible herbs and chopped vegetables inside. The presentation suggests a takeout or street food setting, typical of a food truck offering Mexican or Latin American cuisine.

I'm a big fan of this place. The first time I tried it was when they had a small truck in Williamsburg, but now I prefer going to the one at Atlantic Terminal since it's closer to me. I always make sure to order the beef and spinach, but if they don't have it, I go for the chicken and spinach or beef and cheese options. The birria tacos with consome soup are also a must-try, and the staff is incredibly friendly. What makes it even better is the convenience of it being a food truck.

Cesar's Empanadas is one of my top NYC food trucks. Reliably parked at the end of Hanson and Ashland Place, across from the Apple Store and the LIRR side of of Atlantic Terminal, Cesar and family makes the perfect hand pie. Get one for a snack, get three for a meal. Cesar has three vehicles and you may see any or all of them: a big white truck with two windows that does tacos and plates, a bright blue truck for Cesar's Cafe that carries everything, and a small coffee kiosk style cart that only carries empanadas. If there is a line, it moves fast, so don't get upset when you see all the fans. The staff are super fast and efficient. Every. Single. Empanada. Here. Is. The. Bomb. The empanadas here are fried and flaky and warm and have the right ratio of crust to filling. I love the beef and cheese, the spinach, the chicken with veggies, the guava. They make a blueberry pie, a birria beef, a shrimp. They also do burritos and plates and tacos, but when I see the truck all I crave are the empanadas. They're a perfect impulse snack. Cash is preferred, and you MUST get the green salsa (jalapeno cilantro).

You can't miss this truck if you're near Atlantic Terminal and the Apple store. There's also a cart with the same name on the same block. I'm assuming they're both owned by the same people. The empanadas are very good and quite hefty. The pastry shell isn't that crispy, but I'm glad it's nice and thin. The chicken empanada is great, but the chicken with vegetables one is even better. It's filled with soft and tender pieces of corn, string beans, and carrots. Anything with veggies means it must be healthy, right? The chicken in both is surprisingly juicy and very flavorful. One is perfect for a snack on the go, or you can grab two and make it a meal.

Steak tacos

I stopped by this food truck after a job interview. The line was pretty long so I guess the food had to be good plus it smelled good so I was down. I got two steak tacos and two cheese empanadas. Empanadas are my new favorite thing and it's pretty hard to screw them up. The steak tacos were a miss, the steak was not seasoned at all but the other fresh ingredients and tons of hot sauce masked it somewhat. The empanadas on the other hand were amazing and I should've just ordered empanadas but I wanted to be greedy and have them both. For a quick bite if you're out and about you can't go wrong but to take a trip from another borough to come here I would not recommend it.

Amazing empanadas. Very fast service. I loved the sweet plantain ones. Love the food truck vibe Can't wait to go back and try their tacos.

Even when it wasn't along the way, I wanted to make a detour here for a quick bite. There are 2 Cesar trucks right across each other, one big one small. Not sure what's the business strategy in that but let's roll with it! The high school memories drove me to order that Chicken w/ Cheese Empanada ($3.50) and Beef Empanada ($3.00). Hmm, things have sadly changed since I last remembered them. The empanadas were given to me lukewarm, and on my first bite, I thought I would be hitting meat, but all I got was the skin. It was identical to the feeling of opening a chip bag. Still, once you reach the loaded chicken or beef, you're in for a toasty treat. Especially if you get them with cheese, there is just so much flavor and juice going on in there you don't even need sauce. But the jalapeno green sauce does help in upping it a couple levels! They were being cheap with the green sauce portion though. Cesar, nonetheless, still delivers a satisfying empanada meal. Perfect for the size and price, these filled pastries are a bang for your buck and a must try whenever you're in the area.

None of the Americanized Mexican Trucks and Restaurants have that specific cut of meat and frankly, it's my favorite by far so when I saw it on the menu in this truck as I was passing by, I had to give it a shot. It's honestly really easy to tell whether or not the tongue is done well because it's either tender and delicious with a slight bounce, or it's excessively chewy and bland, and I'm glad to say that this is the former. Everything else is just baseline good quality, from the wrap to the rice and beans and all the fixings inside as well. While definitely not the biggest burrito I've ever had, it's a pretty good size overall so I can't really complain.

But anyway, it's now Morelos (one of my favorite spots from Sunset Park). My friend and I were turned away from late night pizza, so this was our consolation prize. Scratch that, this should've been the first place prize. Like so many taco places in NYC, they've leaned into making birria tacos. We asked if they were any good, and they were wishy-washy about it, so we didn't order them. Got some al pastor and cochinita pibil tacos instead. While we were waiting for them, the guy we spoke to actually gave us a sample of the birria. I know it was the end of the night, but super nice of him! Also... he was right. Don't get them. The al pastor and cochinita pibil ones, however, were pretty solid. Never had cochinita pibil before, but it might be my new favorite. Will definitely be back on another one of my drunken escapade nights!

It was still fairly busy inside, but it was mostly people grabbing to-go orders. After ordering I snagged a spot at the counter. There's extremely limited seating, so I wouldn't bank on eating at the restaurant when it's busy. Be prepared to take your food to go. I got the Nene's Deluxe, which comes with a taco, a mulita, and an empanada - all with Birria of course. It was all delicious. The mulita was at the bottom of the box and got completely soaked with Birria. It was extremely messy to eat. Get plenty of napkins. I also got a side of fries and nacho cheese, because it was a long week and I deserved it. They had a seasonal strawberry horchata as well. This was okay. I also think I might just not love horchata in general. This meal definitely hit the spot. The Birria and consommé were top notch. I would return in a heartbeat.

I tried something different than my usual and went with the Adobada Tacos (Pork Al Pastor). The meat itself was spicy and a little rough, which leads me to believe it was maybe old meat. Instead of cubed, the pineapple was shredded which offered a nice touch. Unfortunately the actual taco got soggy by the time I ate it so I just picked out the meats and pineapple. There is plenty of avocado green sauce placed on top, which moving forward, I will request to be on the side to prevent the taco from getting soggy. Overall I probably should just stick to what I know/like so I'm willing to give this location another shot!
