The best Mexican food truck in brooklyn
    AMANDA R.

I don't sleep walk, but if I did I'm pretty sure my body would head over to morelos taco truck without a doubt. Just writing this review I'm craving it. I always walk past this truck and see a line of people (even at 1am) and I always say to myself I'll try it sometime. Well well well, I've tried it alright and it was awesome!!!! It's run by one guy who does it all, he deals with the payments, taking the orders and cooking the food. There are many options from quesadillas to tacos to tortas and so much more. For a truck he offers so many different options. I had the steak quesadilla the first time and the second time (which was yesterday :) ) I had the chicken quesadilla. Both times were finger licking good. The meat is always flavorful and the toppings and size is way more than I could ask for such a decent price. Everything for the most part is under ten dollars. Also fyi, there is an atm attached to the truck if you need it but he does take both card and cash now. The truck is usually parked on union street and 5th avenue sometimes on the side street and sometimes right on 5th either way you won't miss it. If you're looking for some delish late night food go here!!!

#This Carnitas Taco was really good. And the good thing about this #truck is that it has their prices listed. I'm highly suspicious of the taco trucks and halal carts that are increasingly being parked outside of bars and clubs that have #no prices listed. I'm no fool!

Came out of Union Hall on a Friday night of drinking $6 beers (which I think is super cheap!) not even looking for anything to eat and ran into this taco truck. Usually I avoid things like this unless I'm referred to it by someone else but we though what the heck and waited on line. Just two guys working in this tiny little tortas truck and they cranked these orders out pretty fast. I had the Milaneza de pollo torta. What can I say? Chicken? Good! Beans? Good! Cheese, avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, mayo and jalapeño? Gooooood! Crispy toasted bun to hold in all the goodness? Oh I'll have another! There tortas aren't ridiculously big but they definitely hit the spot! My friend had the pork and chicken tacos and enjoyed them but if I ever see this truck again, I'm definitely trying the steamed goat tacos!

Pictures can't tell you how delicious these are. Barbacoa, double corn tortillas, extra spicy.

Our Mexican dinner will not be complete without a glass or two of classic margaritas, and it was more enjoyable together with a plateful of fried calamari served with garlic mayo. We then ordered beef and chicken fajitas served with rice, beans, and corn tortillas and Camarones a la Mexicana; shrimp cooked in jalapeño, tomato, and onion salsa. All the dishes came in a timely fashion, and they were all delicious. My only qualm is that all dishes are overly covered with peppers and onions. Overall, the staff is genuinely helpful, friendly, and attentive. I will come back to this restaurant to try their other menu. But I will probably tell the cook to take it easy on peppers and onions.

I haven't yet branched out into the chile rellenos or the surf and turf or the other less common menu items, but they've got just about all the things you're looking for in a classic Mexican spot: Fresh chips and guacamole. Discounted margaritas during happy hour. Tacos of all kinds. Sizzling fajitas. French fries for you kid that won't even eat a cheese quesadilla (that may just be a me problem). And we've usually enjoyed our food. I love the guac and chips. The carnitas are great. The corn is slathered in mayo, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. And in previous visits, the staff was on point and happy we were there/enjoying ourselves. That said, this past weekend we came by for lunch, and the tacos were a little disappointing; the proteins tasted a little less fresh (except the carnitas, which was still the best taco we had by a solid margin), and the service was pretty surly, as if we were putting them out by being there at all. I'm hoping it was just an off day, because it's nice to have a good Mexican spot right here for the family.

3.5 stars My friends…read morehad been raving about Lobo for years. It was their neighborhood spot that they would frequent themselves, but also the place to which they would bring all of their guests. After turning down several opportunities to join them in the far off land of Brooklyn, I finally agreed to make the trek and give the restaurant a shot. The Cobble Hill area was really charming, and Lobo was located on one of the main streets that was packed with restaurants, coffeeshops, and small retailers. When I arrived at Lobo, I did not see my friends in the bar area on the ground floor and was told to check the back garden. I found my group out in the quiet, cozy yard and joined them at the spacious table. The weather was a bit chilly, especially as the night wore on, and it was even raining at one point. However, there was a covering that completely shielded us from the elements. In addition, despite our being outside, the friendly staff was diligent about checking in and making sure we had everything we needed. Since my companions had been at the table for a bit by the time I had arrived, they already had beverages in front of them, so I needed to catch up. I ordered a house Margarita without specifying a particular brand of tequila. Even with their default spirit, the drink was very strong. It also used their homemade sour mix, which was, thankfully, more sour than it was sweet. Our drinks paired nicely with the complementary, spectacular tortilla chips and zesty salsa. When it came to my meal, I was unsure of what to order, since the reviews had been very mixed, most either being 5-stars or 2-stars with comments about items being "bland". I decided to go with the grilled Chicken Fajitas, which arrived on a standard plate, rather than a sizzling platter. While that was not a great sign, the chicken actually wound up being enjoyable and certainly not bland. Plus, it was not at all greasy, like fajitas can often be. Accompanying the poultry strips on the plate were freshly sauteed onions and green peppers, a mound of seasoned rice, and smoky refried beans, which were all tasty. I typically prefer black beans, which were not an option here, but the refried worked out well. Separately, I received a container of flour tortillas (though I wished they had soft corn ones) and a plate with guacamole, pico de gallo, serrano peppers, lettuce, shredded cheese, and sour cream. I agreed with some other reviewers that the guacamole was more like mashed avocado, as it was very under-seasoned. The pico was also oddly sweet, and the tomatoes were mushy. Despite these minor critiques, I found that the food surpassed my expectations that had been established from other reviews. I would be willing to make the trip to Lobo again in the future. **Note: The restaurant is cash only!

Got the breakfast burrito…read moreoriginally and it was a while ago so I can't speak to it super well but it was good enough for me to come back. The second time, we started off with a Cactus salad which feels like an underrated dish. It was a heaping pile of sauteed cactus and chopped jalapenos over what most would consider a generic salad. But you know what, I enjoyed that touch for the texture . The cactus itself was packed with flavor with nice heat from the jalapenos. For my entree was the chicken fried chicken, a chicken breast cutlet smothered in gravy. This cutlet is what got me to write a review. They basically nailed it with the interior super juicy. It comes with two sides. Aromatic rice and beans and collard greens that accentuated the floral notes of the greens. This may have been a 4 star review but the price to quality ratio and friendly staff is what inspired me to bump it up. Will put this place in my regular rotation.

The ambiance was probably one of my favorite parts. It had cute decor with touches from both cultures that made the space feel warm and thoughtful without trying too hard. Food wise, it was a bit hit or miss for me. I ordered the watermelon salad and La Bandera (their mezze style sampler). The muhammara and labneh were definitely the standouts. Both were flavorful and paired really well with the warm pita they serve. The cilantro hummus was ok, but not greatest hummus. The chips were noticeably salty. The watermelon salad was okay, but the watermelon itself tasted a little old and could've been fresher/sweeter. One random thing I genuinely loved - they served really cold water, which sounds minor but was actually very appreciated. The staff was kind and attentive, although at times they hovered a bit too much, which made the experience slightly uncomfortable. Drinks are also pretty limited, mostly basic soft drinks and Jarritos, but many opportunities for cool fusion drinks with the blend of two cultures. Overall, I think the fusion concept is cool, especially if you like both cuisines, but some dishes felt stronger in idea than execution. TLDR: Cool Mexican-Lebanese fusion concept with a cute ambiance
