Fish tacos are pretty much the only type of tacos I like, and when I had a hankering for them, I gave El Gallo Taqueria a try. I found out they're a mini chain with decent ratings overall. I put all my eggs into one basket and got 4 of their fish tacos while my husband got birria tacos. The birria tacos were very meaty, even in the small bite I took. My fish tacos were pretty mid. The fish didn't taste as fresh as some other places (not that it tasted old). I saw a Google review that someone threw out their tacos because they thought their tortillas were moldy. And the restaurant responded saying it's the color from the red cabbage in the fish tacos. I confirmed only areas that touched the red cabbage in my tacos had a grayish tint. The fish batter was very crispy, but in a way that took center stage, which shouldn't be the case. The fish taco as a whole was pretty dry without the mild sauce, but the mild sauce was soooo %$#@$@#%#% spicy. Unfortunately, that was the least spicy option for the sauce, and what my husband and I both chose. We literally had to take breaks in between to deal with the spice. Afterward, I could still feel the heat in my stomach, and my husband did not have pleasant bathroom experiences. Safe to say, I will not be returning to this place if I ever want fish tacos again.

Sharp none that was super painful to bite into hidden in a burrito

I haven't ordered from here in a while and wanted to give them a second chance after noticing the quality of the food was going down. When they 1st opened we would eat there literally 2-3 times a week until we started getting more fat than meat in the carnitas and super dry steak that was chewy like beef jerky. I wish I had followed my gut instinct and not ordered because they did not follow the order notes I put in for an allergy concern and I almost broke my tooth when I bit down really hard on a sharp bone in the carnitas. I really want to support small businesses but this was definitely the last time I'll be ordering from them as 1/2 the food went in the garbage.

Store front

Try this place one more time. Just in the chance they had a bad couple of days. Wel. Nope. No Seasoning. Dry meat. What a shame. That was my last try. My opinion. Not worth the money. Just isn't worth it. Good food is alway worth good money in my opinion. Bad food , should be corrected or not rewarded with sales.

Ordered off Uber eats when I was having some late night munchies. So many places close so early now but they close around 1am. Ordered two carne asada baby burritos. They're smaller than some other burritos but honestly it was the perfect size. It was filled and flavor was good. Not the best burrito I've ever had but it was pretty decent. Would order again next time I have late night cravings.

Super greasy on multiple occasions

El Gallo was such a great place for us to enjoy a nice hearty meal and with their advertised promotions on Ubereats, it was even better! However, they quickly went from reasonable to ridiculous and the quality did not improve or even stay the same and it's just been worse. One day the baby burritos were $7 then jumped to $9.25. Gallo fries $12 then $15. Their side of salsa was $1.50 then jumped to $3.00 (double??) and pretty much everything else jumped up in price for us seemingly overnight since we were frequenting so much. There was no gradual increase at all. In addition, they are super stingy on the salsa. They give you a teeny cup, but it's hit or miss if you get a "full container" and we always buy extra anyway, but really feel "forced" to get more with how little is received nowadays and those are also not always filled up either!FORGET about asking for another mini container - they will straight up tell you no. You also get the same tiny sized container if you get the baby or the regular burrito. The only thing that feels the same is the $1.00 upcharge for certain meats and the taste is good, but it's hard to enjoy when you feel like you're getting effed - oh and when it's dripping all over and covered in grease making it soggy and not keep it's shape. Even with the Ubereats BOGOs, it no longer feels worth it. Maybe we will be back once in awhile, but sadly, we won't be regulars anymore.

BEST TACO IVE EVER HAD. PERIOD! Dennis was the best too :). New place in Brooklyn. Delicious delicious!

I went to buy a tacos and those fucking tacos. Disgusting they don't even give you sauce.

The food is usually good but tonight everything was eh. I ordered the fried chicken and fries for my kids and the chicken is sliced thin so it shouldn't be fried for too long, but clearly it was overcooked and hard like a rock. Fries were soggy mess. Disappointment for my kids.

Baby Burrito( Shrimp) with Guacasalsa.

Where do I start? I'm in love with the Baby Burrito!!, you get a 10inch flour tortilla with your choice of filling and cheese, beans, rice, pico de gallo, guac, and Crema. I normally get a shrimp burrito with everything except avocado and extra Guacasalsa(Best sauce ever!!). When I say SEASONED! It's Seasoned!, spicy! Flavorful and so good! I can eat it everyday but I don't want my back to get extra big! But this is the only thing I order. I only order through Uber eats but one day I'll go in person to see the ambiance and service. But please El gallo! Never stops making delicious food 11/10 def recommend. Ps: I only have two pics because I keep forgetting to take more, I go straight to eating lol.

We randomly came here from a walk and wanted to check this place out. It's pretty big and nice inside. They have really good frozen margaritas that are strong. We also really enjoyed their tacos!

Really good BOGOFree deals on UberEats sometimes! Carnitas Bowl: love the carnitas, which they give a good portion of. I've always gotten big pieces of fat along with the flavorful meat, which I know might not be everyone's thing, but I definitely enjoy it with some melt in the mouth fatty bites. All the components, tho not much variety if you're not paying extra, of the bowl are delicious, especially the soft, flavorful rice and the dollops of creama on top. YUM Carne Asada Fries: since it's delivery, it's expectedly soggy, but it didn't ruin my enjoyment for this dish! The sauce (Mayo?) for this is so good and they use real steak as a protein here that is cooked well. I love the cheese and crema, but whisked there was a lot more cheese for more bites of salty, cheesy goodness!

Agua de horchata

The food here is authentic Mexican food!! The tortillas are handmade which make the tacos 10x better. The service is also great, Oscar and Thalia were amazing hosts. Overall I would give this place 5 stars!! I need this taco place in queens asap! Definitely try their aguas fresas.

Tinga de pollo bowl and al pastor bowl

I did not know what to expect, but I was starving on a Friday night and this popped up on Uber Eats. Since there was a buy one get one special, I went to town on ordering. Let me begin with from the time I ordered, to when it got delivered, everything was still warm and fresh. My first bites into the burrito bowl amazed with me with flavorful rice, beans, guac and sour cream. The al pastor flavor is certainly the best with pineapple and char flavoring. Then, onto the tacos which was a little too oily because it felt the tortillas were either drenched in oil or fried. This one I may pass next time. Ending with burritos was a great idea, it was stuffed and heavy. Out of all the meats we tried the al pastor, and the beef with cheddar cheese melt was the best. Definitely will be ordering again from this place !

This is not the city for Mexican food, I do not care who tries to sway me. It simply. Does not. Work. The trend continues at this tiny cantina in Dyker Heights. I paid $40 for mediocrity, maybe even a step or two below it. The staff is friendly and cute, and speaking Spanish will get you further, but the food drops off significantly after the promising chips and dip. When I ordered the Queso Fundido, I was looking forward to a sharp Mexican blend with ground chorizo and some extra chips to boot. Instead I got what looked like blended Oaxaca cheese, an onion top, and some very unattractive bits of chorizo that were begging me not to eat them. So I did not. I ate the cheese because the cheese was pleasant, but the fact it comes with flour tortillas does not help its cause. When I ordered the Tortilla Soup, I was hoping for a nice blend of Mexican spices, shredded chicken, avocado, and tortilla strips. While I did get that, I also got bland flavors and a lack of any personality with the soup. In fact, it had a weird, milky, creamy broth that made me feel uncomfortable about finishing it. So I did not. When I ordered the fish tacos, I was expecting a nice piece of fresh fish, plenty of spicy pico, and an aoli to round out the whole thing. The breading for the fish is a tempura breading (bad call), and the fish they use is tilapia (an even worse call). I understand that this is not San Diego, but these two pieces of fish were practically begging me to put them out of their misery so I could send them packing for the Golden State at a later time. I duly complied. As I walked out I continued to wonder. Will this city ever get it right with a cuisine I hold close to my heart? Because right now, the future is looking bleak. At least my food was spared from further torture.

The eggs are cooked perfectly, soft and fluffy, and the tater tots add a nice crunch, although I would not mind if they were even a little crunchier. They're already better than most places I've been. The sausage was nice and flavorful, although I do wish there was a little more, as I felt like it got a little lost in the rest of the burrito. Overall, this is a very cohesive burrito with all the components working very well together. I like their take-out system. I dined at Casa Kahlo last year, a few weeks after they opened. The service was so bad, I didn't leave a review as I chalked it up to them still working out the kinks. 8 months later I decided to give them another try and it's safe to say I will not be returning. The hostess was lovely and very helpful, the waiter was friendly and tried his best. It was Cinco de Mayo and the restaurant was pretty busy but not packed. Our drinks took forever to come and arrived in plastic dollar store cups, we had to ask for water 3x. The guacamole was good but lacked spice even though we ordered extra spicy. The kids steak was undercooked , we asked if they can cook it to a medium well temperature and it came back burnt! The ropa vieja was good, a large portion of meat served with a kids size bowl of rice and beans. The churros portion is small, the menu said it was served with ice cream but it just came with whipped cream and 1 caramel filled churro cut into 3 pieces. After dinner we moved to an outdoor table and ordered another round of drinks which also took an unreasonable amount of time and they forgot one of our drinks. 20% gratuity and a credit card fee automatically added to the bill.
