Once I walked in the music was playing and I didn't stop dancing. The DJ was doing his thing. Our waitress was amazing but she got switched from our table after a while which we didn't like. I have visited this restaurant 3 times in the past. The bouncers recognized me when I went tonight. I was alone and waiting by the bar to be seated. 15 minutes after I was seated and just placed my order, I was told that I had to leave. I was not even asked rather I was accused by 2 staff members of saying something inappropriate. When I asked qs about who I made the comment to (I was alone) and if I felt some kinda way why would I frequently visit the 2 gentleman became very agitated and hostile. I am very insulted that I'm accused of making a derogatory comment to myself (at that). I resent being pinpointed and escorted out like a criminal. My friend hosted a brunch to celebrate her birthday here. The place is lively I will admit that - they had a DJ that ONLY played Spanish music. Now I know this is a Mexican restaurant, but it would have been nice to have a sprinkle of maybe some R&B or hip hop during that time. So regarding the food, if you do the brunch menu there isn't alot to choose from. For $39.99 per person you get an appetizer, entree and dessert with 90 minutes unlimited sangria and mimosa. I had the sangria - it wasn't good, didn't even finish my glass as it was too sweet. I was told the mimosa was the same - just sweet with no alcohol. You don't have much to choose from on the menu (they didn't even have a burger option). I ordered elote for appetizer - which was very bland, the steak and eggs (which is an additional $4), the steak was good but small, the eggs were well they were eggs so what can you say lol and the potatoes - I could literally count how many potatoes were on my plate. You had to ask for salt, pepper and ketchup - not sure why when you have potatoes but whatever. The steak was cooked well though although the meat itself was VERY chewy. We came for the bottomless brunch which was $40 per person - included an appetizer, entree, dessert, and bottomless mimosas or sangria. Planned an outing after working a 10 hour shift with my nurse girlies and we were super excited to try the drinks and food and experience the vibes here. A hour after getting a food we tried making some requests with DJPM to play soca or reggae music, he played mostly Spanish music, and he refused the first few times and then stated he is limited to the selection of music he can play. After several attempts ten minutes prior to leaving he played two reggae songs and switched right back to Spanish music. While there were 10 of us and Barry anyone dancing to the music of his choosing and spending over $400 he could've accommodated us for the duration of our time there which was a little over two hours. The Dj was playing all the right songs and the place itself has many photo ops. Everything from the margaritas to the tacos were a hit! My first time at this establish. Was first greeted by the friendly security staff. They advised me that i would have to wait for the rest of my party but wasn't rude about it. The quesadillas were ok but were missing something. It was my friend's birthday so once the Dj found out he made sure to give him a shout out multiple times which was cool. Extremely Disappointed -- Will Not Be Returning !!! I don't usually leave reviews, but this experience deserves one. My friends and I spent over $500 across two tables at Don Poncho, expecting a fun night out. Instead, we left feeling disrespected and shocked by the service. Since it was the last hour before closing, we politely asked if we could make a simple music request. The DJ had already left and even told us they were just using an iPad playlist, so we figured it wouldn't be an issue. But the staff refused to change the music at all, even after the amount we spent. It honestly felt like very poor customer service -- especially because we weren't asking for anything unreasonable. What made things worse was how the situation was handled. Instead of talking to us respectfully, they brought over security. I expected someone to calm things down, but in my experience, the situation got more tense. I personally felt like the security guard's tone was provoking rather than de-escalating, and one of my friends felt insulted by the language used toward our group. On top of that, a group of staff members gathered near our table and stared at us like we were a problem, which made the whole environment feel uncomfortable and hostile. It honestly felt like we were being singled out just for speaking up about customer service. For a place where we spent that much money, we expected to feel welcomed not disrespected and judged. The reason for my low stars is because of how they present the bill to you. They will just give you a total and not an itemized bill. They don't tell you that THE TIP IS INCLUDED ALREADY.
