The food is decent for the price that you pay; I ordered delivery so I cannot say much about service, but kudos for giving a lot of hot sauce w/order. I also cannot say much about the ambiance for the aforementioned reason - guess it's standard? FYI: Restaurant uses own deliveryperson. read more

I have been ordering from this place for about 4 or 5 years now. Here are the pros and cons. Pros: cheap, fast, open late, burgers taste char broiled, steak and shrimp are delicious. Cons: it's not authentic by any means, the chicken sometimes is fatty/hard, they have so many items on the menu but don't really specialize in anything so everything is kind of mid. If you are looking for a cheap and quick delivery late at night (11pm), this is probably the best it's going to get. Other options are Taco Bell and I'd pick this place over Taco Bell every time. At least it's real food... Kinda. read more

Great food and great prices . Definitely recommend to anyone that wants to try something new

Really good food delivered fast. Not just Mexican - good burgers n fries too. Love this place

Excellent food!!! The tostada salads are amazing. I get the avocado tostada salad and they give the freshest avocados and salad. We also get the Chile tostada salad and they give you a huge portion of really good chili. The chimichangas are excellent too. Highly recommend!! read more

I have to admit I really love this place. Its a little tex-mex takeout place but oddly also has a terryaki hawaian place and a chinese restaraunt in it as well. All have seperate menus and different names but you can order from any of em which is great when you want Chinese and your roomie wants Mexican. The tex-mex stuff is really good and unlike other mexican places run by asians they can actually fold a buritio and give you a little salad and a nice scoop of guacamole with it. They also make Chorizo tacos and buritos which most places dont. I agree with the reviewer that says nice people but they dont smile, my roomie tried so hard, she smiled at the lady, made eye contact, tried to make a joke and nothing. This can be like a game. Try to make the lady behind the counter smile. She wouldve made a great royal guard. read more

Ordered food at 6:40 pm on a Saturday...Grubhub text gave a 7:25 to 7:35 window for delivery. At 8:05, there was no delivery, yet, so I called the restaurant to inquire about delivery and was told "Ummm...No, we didn't make the food, yet....." I asked why and was told "We're busy"... I asked if anyone was ever going to call and tell me that and was told "I said we're busy".... Thank you...From this point on, I think I'm too busy to order from you.... read more

I was having a problem finding a local Tex-Mex place, when I happened on Tortillas King. The facade and inside show considerable wear and they sported an A rating, so I figured this was a well established place and went in for my favorite dish - Chinichangas. I ordered my chimichangas, and the wait began. As I stood there, I noticed odd behaviors like putting metal tins in what appear to be microwaves. Maybe they're special, industrial microwaves that is okay to put aluminum in, I thought, all the time waiting for the lightning bolts to appear (they didn't). I watched the cook put several dishes together that raised my eyebrows - nothing dirty or unsanitary, mind you, just...odd. Well one of them was mine. After a considerable wait and what seemed like WAY too short a time in the deep fryer, I was handed my alleged chimichangas and left the restaurant, heading back to the place I would eat them. First, I noticed the platter had yellow rice, but no beans. Odd, but ok. Then, I noticed peppers and onions ON the rice. Again, odd, but...Ok, maybe it's their thing. The chimichangas were a nice golden brown, and the melted cheese over top looked wonderful. As I stabbed my chimichanga with the fork, there was no satisfying crunch...it squashed down and wilted like a defeated man with an overbearing spouse and 12 children who hate him. I began to worry. I then sawed through this mushy outer "shell" and took my first bite. The meat inside was seasoned well (I got one chicken and one steak), but remember those peppers and onions I mentioned? Yeah, there were none in the chimichangas. This buffoon never added them inside and for some of reason put them outside on the rice. This alone would have outraged me, however I was stunned - nay - bowled over when, as I chewed I realized that the chimichanga shell - the defining party of this food item - was RAW. Raw, chewy dough. Suffice to say dinner was ruined, and between the distance I was from the "restaurant" and the language barrier (I tried helping them get a portable heater working while I waited - eventually I did, but there was zero communication), I decided not to return to complain, have them make it over, or get a refund. I'll take this one as a loss so you don't have to. AVOID. read more

Good low cost chinese-run tex-mex spot in Bensonhurst. I just wish they would be a little more generous with their sour cream, do thet really have to give it to you in that small plastic cup that you would barely be able to stick your thumb into? I know, it's petty, but most of these places use this and it shouldnt be that way! Also be prepared to pay $2.25 for guacamole, the food is good though and you will enjoy it. read more

Chicken and steak combos for the win. Is it high end Tex Mex? No, but it's tasty, fresh, and delivered fast. Can't ask for much more for the price. This place SUCKS. They always come late. I ALWAYS tipped them on top of their delivery fee. Yesterday they were super late and my food was COLD. I regret not reading the reviews before I ordered delivery from here. Was craving mexican food and had I known that this place is run by chinese, i wouldnt have ordered from here. This is NOT authentic mexican food nor does it taste like it. The burrito, the nachos, the wings, were all "ehh". Nothing special, kinda bland, the nachos were wet and soggy. The guacamole had no flavor and came pretty brownish. You can tell it wasnt freshly made. Just seemed like ingredients were randomly thrown together. Giving it three stars because food was okay, delivery was on time, and cheap cost. Wouldnt order from here again. Save your money, you're better off with chipotle or real mexican food. read more

Something of a hidden gem in Brooklyn. It's a tex-mex Chinese run place that also doubles as a Chinese take out restaurant and triples as a Hawaiian burger restaurant. This little threesome restaurant has been around since at least 2006. I remember ordering some of their Hawaiian burgers from work and being pleasantly surprised by how good they were! Recently, I made a trip out there to get some tex mex! Yum! The food is pretty cheap. I got two fajitas for 6 bucks. It was PRETTY GOOD. For 6 bucks, you kinda can't go wrong. Even though it's not authentic Mexican food, I'll still come back. Anyway, who can rate Tortilla King anything less than 4 stars when you can order chicken and broccoli at the same counter that you just ordered a quesadilla? And whoohoo to my 100th review dedicated to Tortilla Kings! If any place deserved my 100th review, it's here! read more

There comes a time when you can't stay silent anymore. I've been ordering tex mex from this place for about 4 months, and they are less than a mile from me. You'd think that they'd be capable of delivering an order in less than 45 minutes, at the most an hour. However, we have never received an order in under 90 minutes. When it does come there is a 50% chance that it will most likely be cold or burnt, and on a rare occasion it's a mixture of the two. For 4 months now when they've destroyed their reputation with me. The only saving grace and what got them two stars is the chicken cheese fries (when they are hot and not burnt). Regardless, I think it's best to avoid this place. read more

Eh... This food was meh. Some days I am just extra lazy and refuse to leave my house. I usually order from another Mexican restaurant but decided I wanted to try something new. The delivery took a while too. I ordered the buffalo wings with french fries - french fries were soggy and wings didn't have any flavor. We also ordered the combination - one chicken quesadilla, one beef burrito and one chicken taco. The quesadilla was good but pretty tiny. The chicken taco was also decent. But the beef burrito was horrible. It was soggy and just tasted like taco seasoning. We also ordered two sides of guacamole and it was horrrrrrrible. It definitely wasn't fresh. Ugh. So much regret. read more

Ordered a pound of fajitas last night. Had them for breakfast this morning. They tasted great on both occasions. It took them about 40 minutes to deliver and I was only a couple avenues away. But I'll give them the benefit of a doubt and assume it was because they were busy making the food taste so awesome. I think this is a great little place and during the times I've been there in person, the staff has been nice enough. Though I'm really curious about the guy who took my order last night. WORST. ORDER TAKER. EVER. This is a little bit of what went down: Him: *mumbles* Tortillasking. Me: Hi, I'd like to place an order for delivery. Him: *sounding really grumpy* address. Me: 14** 66th Street. Him: Apartmentnumber? Me: There's no number, can you just call because the doorbell doesn't work? (I pause a bit to see if he'll ask me for my number but he doesn't.) Can I give you my phone number? Him: yeah. Me: 646-***-****. (I pause again to see if he'll ask me for my order but he doesn't.) So...I'd like a pound of fajitas. During that whole convo, he was just very unenthusiastic. At one point, I just wanted to ask, "Are you okay?!" because he sounded like he was about to jump off a bridge. Anyway, Tortillas King people, if you're reading this PLEASE get someone else to answer your calls. He just.....sucks!! Otherwise, you're doing a good job. read more

I have ordered from them twice online through Seamless. Pros: Portion sizes in general are larger than I expected. I ate a burrito over two meals. The steak burrito was very tasty and the yellow corn tortillas were fresh and nicely salted. Their salsa has a good taste with a bit of heat but a bit sweet for my taste. Cons: The beef in the beef taco (labelled as the chili taco) was overcooked and tasted a bit scorched. The veggies were fresh and crispy, and the taco shell crispy too. It is very easy for the taco to get soggy during delivery if the meat is excessively fatty or greasy, so it was nice that it stayed crunchy. If the meat itself is cooked more carefully, the tacos can be much better. The guacamole has a good taste to it, but it was inconsistent. I ordered guac separately and it looked and tasted fresh. But the guac that came with the burrito dinner was brown and looked like it was possibly from a different batch. Guac really should be prepared to order since it browns easily. I think I will skip it next time. The delivery time was a bit slower than I expected, about 45 minutes. I live only about 12 blocks away. Overall the food is good, prices are good (they can probably afford to increase them actually), and delivery is average or slow. If they took more care in preparing the taco meat and making guac consistently, this place would be really great. There are not many Mexican places around here, and the few I have tried are not good. Tortillas King has a good opportunity to be very successful. read more

This place is bleh. That's really the most accurate assessment that I can give for it. Just walking in the door, you're going to feel like you're covered in grease and their food offerings reflect it. This is your typical oily, nasty chinese/mexican food. For a better time, head down to 76th Street and hit up Tong Xing/New Taco. Same menu, same price, better food. And nicer service. read more

Came here for dinner and had the grilled chicken taco salad. Great portion but a little upset at how much lettuce there was compared to the rest of the ingredients. I always get the combo (C4 or C9). It's so worth it! So for $11.43 (after tax), you get a chicken soft taco, a chicken & cheese quesadilla, and a steak (C4) or chicken (C9) burrito. It's enough for dinner for myself and my boyfriend. Knowing that this place is a Tex-Mex, Chinese food, burger place, I'm not expecting an authentic Mexican food experience. But the food is good for what it is. Generous portion sizes as well. And they don't skimp on the cheese or protein either! Food is made very fast, usually get it within 5 minutes of ordering. I would give them a 3.7if i can. I had eaten nachos. They weren't that bad. Chicken was good on it. Only misfire on the whole thing was that the toppings were all..organized into different corners. When you have nachos, you expect everything all together. Not beans on the right side, cheese and chicken on the left, etc. And we had ordered in person-not through delivery so there was no way a "car" could have shifted everything. That and there was no guacamole:( Overall it was good. Because they deliver i would definitely order from here again. Seriously the chicken wasnt that bad :) read more

This is the second time the person behind the phone/counter was being rude. The first time I just shook it off thinking the woman on the phone was just having a bad day. Today when I ordered, I can tell it was the same woman from the way she spoke. Like other reviewers said, the person gave a "What do you want?" kind of attitude. And worst of all, that's what she said: "What do you want?" and seemed extremely annoyed and rude to me. This is why I bothered to create Yelp account to rate this place. This is how the conversation over the phone was: Me: Hi, I would like to order a takeout. Her: Okay, you come to pick it up? Me: Oh, sorry. I meant I'll like to order a delivery. Her: What's your address? Me: 16** 64th Street... Her: Apartment number? Me: 16** (Repeated my apartment number) Her: No. Apartment number. (Sounded extremely annoyed.) Me: 2nd Floor (Remembered from last order that the person was more concern about what floor I'm on instead of my address.) Her: *Sighed* Okay, what do you want? Me: I'll like a mushroom burrito and a french fries please. Her: *Said nothing for like 5 seconds* Me: Um, what would be the total? Her: *Gave a loud and displeasing snicker* $7.35 Me: Okay, thank you. This place currently deserve only 2 stars from me because the food is decent and inexpensive. I had no problem with the food or the delivery person. But the first thing any business need to master in is customer service. You don't show the customer any sign of annoyance or rudeness even if you are displeased with them. I had worked with angry customers before, even so I wouldn't even dare to show any sign of annoyance or anger. So if anyone want to experience a "What do you want?" greeting over the phone, order from this place. read more

Unfortunately, I have to give this place a horrible review. I'm mortified. We ordered from this place for the first and last time, this evening. For starters, the delivery was super late. I am a serious foodie and I'm all about my grub, this place left me with tears in my eyes. Who doesn't love good Tex-Mex? Crazy people and the people that order from this restaurant because they never stood a chance. We ordered chicken tacos (soft and hard shell), fish tacos (hard shell), a shrimp and cheese fajita, a shrimp taco (double fried hard shell with tomatoes and cheese) and an order of guacamole nachos. Upon peeling back the tin foil, I shreaked at the sight of the artificial shredded cheese that was half melted into goop over the chicken taco. I then decided to skip the chicken and try the fish taco. The cheese was the same on all of the tacos but I took a bite. The fish tasted like frozen microwavable fish sticks. Some of the lettuce in the taco was mush and had already started to go bad. I was so hungry I forced it down. I then went for the shrimp taco. The shrimp taco was the only reason this place got a single star. The shrimp wasn't very good but something about the double fried taco shell made everything better. The shell complimented the contents nicely. It was the one thing I didn't regret eating. Unfortunately, I'm a glutton for punishment so, I made the mistake of trying the greenish-gray guacamole mush that they served with the nachos. It was disgusting. It honestly tasted like a mix of lemon, lime, mayonnaise, pepper and I'm not sure what else. There were definitely ingredients used that did not belong to the traditional guacamole recipe. It was tart and sweet, two flavors you usually don't get in good guacamole. After two small bites, I quit the meal. I couldn't take it anymore. I refused to even try the chicken tacos, which my fiancé confirmed were gross. I noticed there are a lack of options when ordering this type of food on Grubhub and I'm sure that many people have been driven to eat here for just that reason. Please take my advice, do not order from this place. You'll be left with heartache and an empty stomach, or worse. Did I mention this is a Chinese restaurant? I have to go. I can't go on. read more

Horrible. I believe they have gone under new management in the last year or two. This place used to be pretty good, but it has gone down hill. The place is dirty. It's not well maintained, and that says a lot for a Chinese/Mexican take-out kitchen. I spotted roaches crawling on the floor and garbage bin on two separate occasions while eating in. The staff are RUDE. They were yelling in Chinese among themselves while my friend and I dined in. When trying to decide what I wanted to order, the lady behind the counter kept suggesting random items, almost as though to rush me. The food has gotten blander since the new management has taken over. The teriyaki bowl is simply overcooked beef over rice smothered in cheap teriyaki sauce. It looks like cat food. The quality used to be MUCH better. Don't get me started about how the staff tries to rip you off when giving you your change. COUNT THE BILLS YOURSELF! Overall, a once-great takeout place that has turned to utter crap. AVOID at all costs. read more
