I have been ordering from this place for about 4 or 5 years now. Here are the pros and cons. Pros: cheap, fast, open late, burgers taste char broiled, steak and shrimp are delicious. Cons: it's not authentic by any means, the chicken sometimes is fatty/hard, they have so many items on the menu but don't really specialize in anything so everything is kind of mid. If you are looking for a cheap and quick delivery late at night (11pm), this is probably the best it's going to get. Other options are Taco Bell and I'd pick this place over Taco Bell every time. I have to admit I really love this place. Its a little tex-mex takeout place but oddly also has a terryaki hawaian place and a chinese restaraunt in it as well. All have seperate menus and different names but you can order from any of em which is great when you want Chinese and your roomie wants Mexican. The tex-mex stuff is really good and unlike other mexican places run by asians they can actually fold a buritio and give you a little salad and a nice scoop of guacamole with it. They also make Chorizo tacos and buritos which most places dont. I agree with the reviewer that says nice people but they dont smile, my roomie tried so hard, she smiled at the lady,made eye contact,tried to make a joke and nothing. This can be like a game. I was having a problem finding a local Tex-Mex place, when I happened on Tortillas King. The facade and inside show considerable wear and they sported an A rating, so I figured this was a well established place and went in for my favorite dish - Chinichangas. I ordered my chimichangas, and the wait began. As I stood there, I noticed odd behaviors like putting metal tins in what appear to be microwaves. Maybe they're special, industrial microwaves that is okay to put aluminum in, I thought, all the time waiting for the lightning bolts to appear (they didn't). I watched the cook put several dishes together that raised my eyebrows - nothing dirty or unsanitary, mind you, just...odd. Well one of them was mine. After a considerable wait and what seemed like WAY too short a time in the deep fryer, I was handed my alleged chimichangas and left the restaurant, heading back to the place I would eat them. First, I noticed the platter had yellow rice, but no beans. Odd, but ok. Then, I noticed peppers and onions ON the rice. Again, odd, but...Ok, maybe it's their thing. The chimichangas were a nice golden brown, and the melted cheese over top looked wonderful. As I stabbed my chimichanga with the fork, there was no satisfying crunch...it squashed down and wilted like a defeated man with an overbearing spouse and 12 children who hate him. I began to worry. I then sawed through this mushy outer "shell" and took my first bite. The meat inside was seasoned well (I got one chicken and one steak), but remember those peppers and onions I mentioned? Yeah, there were none in the chimichangas. This buffoon never added them inside and for some of reason put them outside on the rice. This alone would have outraged me, however I was stunned - nay - bowled over when, as I chewed I realized that the chimichanga shell - the defining party of this food item - was RAW. Raw, chewy dough. Suffice to say dinner was ruined, and between the distance I was from the "restaurant" and the language barrier (I tried helping them get a portable heater working while I waited - eventually I did, but there was zero communication), I decided not to return to complain, have them make it over, or get a refund. I'll take this one as a loss so you don't have to. AVOID. read more

I regret not reading the reviews before I ordered delivery from here. Was craving mexican food and had I known that this place is run by chinese, i wouldnt have ordered from here. This is NOT authentic mexican food nor does it taste like it. The burrito, the nachos, the wings, were all "ehh". Nothing special, kinda bland, the nachos were wet and soggy. The guacamole had no flavor and came pretty brownish. You can tell it wasnt freshly made. Just seemed like ingredients were randomly thrown together. Something of a hidden gem in Brooklyn. It's a tex-mex Chinese run place that also doubles as a Chinese take out restaurant and triples as a Hawaiian burger restaurant. This little threesome restaurant has been around since at least 2006. I remember ordering some of their Hawaiian burgers from work and being pleasantly surprised by how good they were! There comes a time when you can't stay silent anymore. I've been ordering tex mex from this place for about 4 months, and they are less than a mile from me. You'd think that they'd be capable of delivering an order in less than 45 minutes, at the most an hour. However, we have never received an order in under 90 minutes. When it does come there is a 50% chance that it will most likely be cold or burnt, and on a rare occasion it's a mixture of the two. For 4 months now when they've destroyed their reputation with me. The only saving grace and what got them two stars is the chicken cheese fries (when they are hot and not burnt). Regardless, I think it's best to avoid this place. read more

The delivery took a while too. I ordered the buffalo wings with french fries - french fries were soggy and wings didn't have any flavor. I have ordered from them twice online through Seamless. Pros: Portion sizes in general are larger than I expected. I ate a burrito over two meals. The steak burrito was very tasty and the yellow corn tortillas were fresh and nicely salted. Their salsa has a good taste with a bit of heat but a bit sweet for my taste. Cons: The beef in the beef taco (labelled as the chili taco) was overcooked and tasted a bit scorched. The veggies were fresh and crispy, and the taco shell crispy too. It is very easy for the taco to get soggy during delivery if the meat is excessively fatty or greasy, so it was nice that it stayed crunchy. If the meat itself is cooked more carefully, the tacos can be much better. The guacamole has a good taste to it, but it was inconsistent. I ordered guac separately and it looked and tasted fresh. But the guac that came with the burrito dinner was brown and looked like it was possibly from a different batch. Guac really should be prepared to order since it browns easily. I think I will skip it next time. The delivery time was a bit slower than I expected, about 45 minutes. I live only about 12 blocks away. Overall the food is good, prices are good (they can probably afford to increase them actually), and delivery is average or slow. If they took more care in preparing the taco meat and making guac consistently, this place would be really great. There are not many Mexican places around here, and the few I have tried are not good. I always get the combo (C4 or C9). It's so worth it! So for $11.43 (after tax), you get a chicken soft taco, a chicken & cheese quesadilla, and a steak (C4) or chicken (C9) burrito. It's enough for dinner for myself and my boyfriend. Knowing that this place is a Tex-Mex, Chinese food, burger place, I'm not expecting an authentic Mexican food experience. When you have nachos, you expect everything all together. This is the second time the person behind the phone/counter was being rude. The first time I just shook it off thinking the woman on the phone was just having a bad day. Today when I ordered, I can tell it was the same woman from the way she spoke. Like other reviewers said, the person gave a "What do you want?" kind of attitude. And worst of all, that's what she said: "What do you want?" and seemed extremely annoyed and rude to me. This is why I bothered to create Yelp account to rate this place. Unfortunately, I have to give this place a horrible review. I'm mortified. We ordered from this place for the first and last time, this evening. For starters, the delivery was super late. I am a serious foodie and I'm all about my grub, this place left me with tears in my eyes. Who doesn't love good Tex-Mex? We ordered chicken tacos (soft and hard shell), fish tacos (hard shell), a shrimp and cheese fajita, a shrimp taco (double fried hard shell with tomatoes and cheese) and an order of guacamole nachos. Upon peeling back the tin foil, I shreaked at the sight of the artificial shredded cheese that was half melted into goop over the chicken taco. I then decided to skip the chicken and try the fish taco. The cheese was the same on all of the tacos but I took a bite. The fish tasted like frozen microwavable fish sticks. Some of the lettuce in the taco was mush and had already started to go bad. I was so hungry I forced it down. I then went for the shrimp taco. The shrimp taco was the only reason this place got a single star. The shrimp wasn't very good but something about the double fried taco shell made everything better. The shell complimented the contents nicely. It was the one thing I didn't regret eating. Unfortunately, I'm a glutton for punishment so, I made the mistake of trying the greenish-gray guacamole mush that they served with the nachos. It was disgusting. It honestly tasted like a mix of lemon, lime, mayonnaise, pepper and I'm not sure what else. There were definitely ingredients used that did not belong to the traditional guacamole recipe. It was tart and sweet, two flavors you usually don't get in good guacamole. After two small bites, I quit the meal. I couldn't take it anymore. I refused to even try the chicken tacos, which my fiancé confirmed were gross. I noticed there are a lack of options when ordering this type of food on Grubhub and I'm sure that many people have been driven to eat here for just that reason. Horrible. I believe they have gone under new management in the last year or two. This place used to be pretty good, but it has gone down hill. The place is dirty. It's not well maintained, and that says a lot for a Chinese/Mexican take-out kitchen. I spotted roaches crawling on the floor and garbage bin on two separate occasions while eating in. The staff are RUDE. They were yelling in Chinese among themselves while my friend and I dined in. When trying to decide what I wanted to order, the lady behind the counter kept suggesting random items, almost as though to rush me. The food has gotten blander since the new management has taken over. The teriyaki bowl is simply overcooked beef over rice smothered in cheap teriyaki sauce. It looks like cat food.
