This place is definitely a local gem. When I'm craving tacos, it's one of my reliable go tos. The tacos are the standout, each order comes with two served on corn tortillas that hold up well, even for takeout. My favorites: fish tacos: crispy, golden tempura battered fish topped with tangy chipotle aioli & crunchy cabbage slaw. they travel well, still crisp and flavorful even when taken to go grilled shrimp tacos: light, fresh, and unexpectedly flavorful. The grilled shrimp, paired with slaw and pico, is a great break from all the heavier meats al pastor tacos: sweet pineapple meets spicy, savory pork. Not my top favorite al pastor, but still a solid version that hits the spot cochinita pibil tacos: tender, slow-braised pork shoulder packed with flavor. generous porition and flavors definitely caught me by surprise That said, not everything has been a win. The grilled steak tacos had good seasoning but turned out dry and tough, didn't order those again. The grilled chicken burrito bowl also was a miss, it was dry and bland, and not something I'd recommend. The rice and beans are a great filler but could better. For dessert, the churros are a must. crispy, airy twists of dough dusted with cinnamon sugar, served with rich Mexican chocolate. The tres leches cake is decent too, classic vanilla sponge soaked in sweet milks. Not the best I've had, but a nice way to end the meal if you're craving something sweet. I still love Las Chelitas! To update my review, I've been obsessively ordering the Mex Chop Chop salad and it's so delicious. It doesn't have any heavy cream dressing, it's just black beans, a little bit of powdered cheese, pickled onions, lettuce, corn, tortilla strips and I add grilled chicken. They might add a little bit of vinegar I can't tell. The pickled onion gives it so much flavor it doesn't need any extra heavy dressings. It's a nice, healthier option to tacos. If you're like me and watch what you eat, give it a try. And ordering directly on their website gets you to about $17 total with a tip. Not bad! read more

My husband ordered chicken fajitas. Our son ordered the churrasco/grilled steak, and our daughter ordered the chicken enchiladas in salsa verde. So far so good. I picked up our order after ordering in advance on Yelp. The spot itself seems to be an authentic type of Mex spot, which is good. The people who were dining inside seemed to be also prevalently Mexicans, which was also a good sign. And the overall decor seemed to point to a direction of authencity, with various Mex type decor on the walls and even a guitar (a la Mariachi). So my order was corn on the cob (insert that cute kid that says 'I love cown') and fish tacos. My husband's order was steak fajitas. Placed an order for delivery after seeing the ratings on UberEats and the reviews on Yelp. They prepped the food fairly quickly and my food was delivered earlier than expected. For the appetizers we got the guac & chips, crispy calamari and empanadas. The guacamole was really good and fresh. The calamari was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious! The empanadas was the best dish we got for the night. It was still piping hot when we got it and the melted cheese and chicken tasted really good together. We then got an order of the fish tacos and an order of the steak tacos to share and they were just alright. We definitely had better elsewhere. For the fish tacos, the fish was mostly covered in batter and barely tasted any fish. The steak tacos were good but the meat was a little dry and tough. Lastly, we got the chicken quesadilla and the steak quesadilla. They both tasted good but they were put on top of wet romaine lettuce and left the tortilla being really soggy. Shame on me for passing by Las Chelitas without stopping in. I drive by Las Chelitas every week, but today I finally decided to try them out. I placed my order via Yelp about 20 minutes prior and my order was ready and waiting for me when I came in, so 25 minutes earlier than predicted. Love how fast the service was. When I got home and opened up my order, I was impressed with the presentation. You can tell the food was packaged with care. We got the Steak Burrito, Steak Tostadas, Fire-Grilled Corn on the Cob, Chips and Guac, and a Mango Jarritos. Let me tell you - the steak was seasoned to perfection and tender. Out of this world! The best Steak Burrito I have had. I cannot believe I overlooked this place all of this time! If you're interested in outdoor dining, they have some tables outside. Was really craving some tostadas & stumbled upon this place. Food was done quickly and it tasted great, however, we got jipped (see pics). I placed 2 orders and they both came like this. They were slick and conveniently placed one on top of the other. Basically, only 1 had full toppings and the other had not even 1/4 of the tostada covered in toppings. Really disappointing since it tasted good, however, I basically paid full price for something that did not come whole. My suggestion: don't take it to go. Being possibly the most reviewed Brooklyn Mexican spot on Seamless, Las Chelitas tempted me to pick them for lunch. Not to damper on everyone's highly rated reviews, but it sadly fell through in expectations. I ordered the Al Pastor Tacos, Battered Fish Tacos, and Mango Jarritos. The food came neatly packaged, and they even offered complimentary chips and salsa! The tacos were in quantity of two's and were stored together. Let's start off with the Battered Fish Tacos ($6). Even though the fish may look ginormous, dry, and intimidating on the outside, it was warm, soft, and very moist on the inside! However, it was fine that the cabbage slaw on top was slightly sour, but the green sauce as well? You don't even need to add lime because of how sour the green sauce was. Although the fish taco lacked some flavor, that sauce was definitely not the complement to it. They made no mistake in incorporating pineapples into the Al Pastor Tacos ($6). I had this creation before, and love it. The pineapple pieces were refreshingly juicy and the pork pieces, flavorful! And boy, do they give a heaping amount! You definitely will need a fork at the end to gather the ones that got away. Both tacos were unfortunately on the dry side, especially due to the tortillas. They also squeezed way too many limes in that green sauce for me to want to use it! I unfortunately wouldn't come back, but it was still a solid lunch. read more

We ordered: Chicken empanadas 5 stars Hanger steak 4.5 stars ( we asked for medium but it arrived medium well) TIilapia 5 stars Flan 5 stars (my son loved it!) Pineapple soda 5 stars (it's store bought soda but I'm giving the restaurant 5 stars for not overcharging it at the restaurant. It was only $2). I'm going to add to the chorus of 5 star reviews here. So I took a trip to Dyker Heights to get takeout and Las Chelitas did not disappoint. I ordered empanadas, chicken and cheese quesadillas lunch special and the battered fish taco lunch special which came with rice, beans and plantains. Due to traffic, it took forever to get home, but the food was still warm and held up beautifully. The empanadas were huge, cheesy and super flavorful. I've never seen empanadas like those and they were really good and satisfying. I would definitely get those again. The quesadillas were also very tasty. The fish taco was fresh and delicious and the aioli sauce and red cabbage slaw put it over the top making it wonderfully flavorful. Would definitely get the battered fish again too, but maybe in the form of a Torta (Mexican sandwich) next time. I really enjoyed the rice, beans and plantains as well. Everything was absolutely delicious and made with so much love! The staff were exceptionally sweet and made me feel very welcome. Went here about an hour before closing time on a Monday morning and there was only 1 other party and they were ready to leave. So we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. We ordered the chicken quesadilla, al pastor tacos, steak tacos, and fish tacos. The quesadilla comes with pico, guacamole, and some lettuce. It is split into 4 pieces. The tacos are 2 per order and each order comes with a side of green salsa to be added to your liking. The chicken quesadillas were solid. Every bite was filled with the right amount of chicken and cheese. And the guac it comes with also pairs nicely as a dip/topping. The al pastor tacos were standard. The steak tacos were okay, not much to them. The fish tacos were my favorite tacos out of the three. Service was very cheerful and friendly, and lunch was definitely worth repeating. Upon seating, we were provided complimentary chips and salsa. Grilled Corn: while not on the menu, my friend had seen photos of this online and asked the waitress if this dish happened to be available, the waitress cheerfully let us know it was, and the dish came out hot and ready to eat. I found it delicious, but do go in noting that it was copiously sprinkled with a tart powder (tamarind?) that my friend did not love. I've seen so many different versions of toppings, so I'm no expert on what's considered authentic, but we both still enjoyed this. I have a minor suspicion that my friend prefers an Americanized version of this dish. Battered Fish Tostada: two homemade corn tostada with beans, lettuce, sour cream, tomato and cotija cheese - I'm always a sucker for tostadas, and this was no exception, generously portioned, and absolutely delicious. I was craving guacamole and found this little local spot on yelp. Came here on a Sunday around lunch time. They had 4 tables on the outside with good distance apart. The waitress was super nice. Saw this new Mexican restaurant opened up and decided to give it a try. Place is spacious, with a homely decor (used to be an Italian resto). My order was promptly placed and ready as soon as I got there. Got some different kinds of tacos, and all of them seemed a bit dry. Thank goodness for that homemade green sauce they have to save the day. My Chicken Quesadilla was really good with just the right balance of kick and cheesiness. And lastly my Fried Churros with Chocolate/Vanilla dipping sauce sealed the deal (must order dessert item), and bumped my review to a four star. Do not be fooled if you walk by and see an empty restaurant. Usually empty on the weekend (probably due to high delivery), the service is quick and the food is fresh. Dining in is the way to go and you'll thank yourself if you get the fish taco. It's a flaky bite with the perfect amount of toppings. The pork taco is a close second and the meat is savory. The shrimp, al pastor that has fresh large xhunks of pineapples tacos are my favorite. They are also generous on the meat portion for the pork shoulder tacos.
