Chelitas Battered Fish Tacos

Ordered for takeout tonight with my youngest. We got the fish tacos with the rice and beans salsa chips. So impressed by how they package everything for you to take home. Fish was like delicious to try more things from this place.

This was our third time here and although the service was extremely slow, the food did not disappoint. All was well seasoned, piping hot and cooked to all of our liking. Tonight, we ordered queso fundido for us to share. It was supposed to had been our appetizer, but came out with all of our entrees. Tonight, I ordered the sopa de mariscos/seafood soup. My husband ordered chicken fajitas. Our son ordered the churrasco/grilled steak, and our daughter ordered the chicken enchiladas in salsa verde. This restaurant is one that we will certainly re-visit in the future. And, just hope that next time, the service is a bit faster next time around. Highly recommend to anyone wanting good Mexican food.

Looks like a mom and pop run restaurant. Everything we ordered was delicious. Food was 10/10 and service was 9/10. Prices are pretty fair especially in this popular part of Brooklyn! Will be back!

Ordered through GrubHub for delivery. The food arrived extremely fast, within 20 mins. Ordered the cochinita pibil (pork shoulder) tacos, the beer battered fish tacos, the al pastor tacos, a chicken tortilla soup and an order of flautas. The food was extremely good. The order came with free chips and salsa. It was a lot of food for 2 people. Tacos were loaded with meat, enough for a second taco. The pork shoulder tacos were my favorite. I feel like the fish tacos would be better if I was dining in as they were not crispy. The flautas and the chicken tortilla soup were pretty good too. Definitely ordering from them again. Recommended!

Friday night causal dinner with my cousin. An unappealing neighborhood Mexican foods but you will be surprised once you get step inside It is like a little Mexico, staffs are very friendly and helpful. Needless to say, foods are really yummy. Grilled tilapia is perfectly cooked. My cousin's steak is perfecto. Only thing is a little slow service partly because they are busy with delivery and takeout. We will come back again for sure.

So far so good. I picked up our order after ordering in advance on Yelp. The spot itself seems to be an authentic type of Mex spot, which is good. The people who were dining inside seemed to be also prevalently Mexicans, which was also a good sign. And the overall decor seemed to point to a direction of authencity, with various Mex type decor on the walls and even a guitar (a la Mariachi). So my order was corn on the cob (insert that cute kid that says 'I love cown') and fish tacos. My husband's order was steak fajitas. We both agreed that the food was pretty good and we would get stuff from them again in the near future. P.s. We also got two orders of empanadas but we didn't try them yet. Hopefully, they're just as good as the rest of the grub.

Placed an order for delivery after seeing the ratings on UberEats and the reviews on Yelp. They prepped the food fairly quickly and my food was delivered earlier than expected. For the appetizers we got the guac & chips, crispy calamari and empanadas. The guacamole was really good and fresh. The calamari was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious! The empanadas was the best dish we got for the night. It was still piping hot when we got it and the melted cheese and chicken tasted really good together. We then got an order of the fish tacos and an order of the steak tacos to share and they were just alright. We definitely had better elsewhere. For the fish tacos, the fish was mostly covered in batter and barely tasted any fish. The steak tacos were good but the meat was a little dry and tough. Lastly, we got the chicken quesadilla and the steak quesadilla. They both tasted good but they were put on top of wet romaine lettuce and left the tortilla being really soggy. Try to opt out getting the lettuce if you can! Overall it wasn't bad. Would definitely order from here again and try the other items on the menu.

Shame on me for passing by Las Chelitas without stopping in. I drive by Las Chelitas every week, but today I finally decided to try them out. I placed my order via Yelp about 20 minutes prior and my order was ready and waiting for me when I came in, so 25 minutes earlier than predicted. Love how fast the service was. When I got home and opened up my order, I was impressed with the presentation. You can tell the food was packaged with care. We got the Steak Burrito, Steak Tostadas, Fire-Grilled Corn on the Cob, Chips and Guac, and a Mango Jarritos. Let me tell you - the steak was seasoned to perfection and tender. Out of this world! The best Steak Burrito I have had. I cannot believe I overlooked this place all of this time! If you're interested in outdoor dining, they have some tables outside. Looks like it would be a nice, cozy spot to grab lunch. The decor inside was bright and fun, and I can't wait to dine here in the future! 5 stars for Las Chelitas!

Tostadas
Erika G.

Was really craving some tostadas & stumbled upon this place. Food was done quickly and it tasted great, however, we got jipped (see pics). I placed 2 orders and they both came like this. They were slick and conveniently placed one on top of the other. Basically, only 1 had full toppings and the other had not even 1/4 of the tostada covered in toppings. Really disappointing since it tasted good, however, I basically paid full price for something that did not come whole. My suggestion: don't take it to go. I think they'll have a harder time getting away with this when it's served on a plate.

Vegetarian Fajita Al Pastor Quesadilla

Literally amazing food and so worth the price especially when dining in. I have gotten takeout before and went In person and I'm surprised this place isn't packed. The service is outstanding and the girl who was our waitress was so nice and caring! The atmosphere is great and very relaxing. This is a hidden gem!

Battered Fish Tacos ($6) & Al Pastor Tacos ($6) - 2 each
Sandy D.

Being possibly the most reviewed Brooklyn Mexican spot on Seamless, Las Chelitas tempted me to pick them for lunch. Not to damper on everyone's highly rated reviews, but it sadly fell through in expectations. I ordered the Al Pastor Tacos, Battered Fish Tacos, and Mango Jarritos. The food came neatly packaged, and they even offered complimentary chips and salsa! The tacos were in quantity of two's and were stored together. Let's start off with the Battered Fish Tacos ($6). Even though the fish may look ginormous, dry, and intimidating on the outside, it was warm, soft, and very moist on the inside! However, it was fine that the cabbage slaw on top was slightly sour, but the green sauce as well? You don't even need to add lime because of how sour the green sauce was. Although the fish taco lacked some flavor, that sauce was definitely not the complement to it. They made no mistake in incorporating pineapples into the Al Pastor Tacos ($6). I had this creation before, and love it. The pineapple pieces were refreshingly juicy and the pork pieces, flavorful! And boy, do they give a heaping amount! You definitely will need a fork at the end to gather the ones that got away. Both tacos were unfortunately on the dry side, especially due to the tortillas. They also squeezed way too many limes in that green sauce for me to want to use it! I unfortunately wouldn't come back, but it was still a solid lunch.

Tilapia

My son and visited based on others Yelp reviews and they were not wrong! The restaurant was not crowded at all on a Saturday evening. I did notice they were busy with lots of takeout orders. So I would not blame the one waitress responsible for waiting tables and taking card of takeout orders for a small delay in service. When she did come around she was extremely courteous. We ordered: Chicken empanadas 5 stars Hanger steak 4.5 stars ( we asked for medium but it arrived medium well) TIilapia 5 stars Flan 5 stars (my son loved it!) Pineapple soda 5 stars (it's store bought soda but I'm giving the restaurant 5 stars for not overcharging it at the restaurant. It was only $2). Our total bill was only $65 (including a 20% tips) I'd highly recommend this restaurant! There were plenty of metered parking and free parking nearby.

I am so glad that I came across this Mexican place in NY! Their foods are very large in portion for the price, which I loved and ingredients were very fresh and flavorful. I give 4/5 for taste, 5/5 for price, 5/5 for quantity of food. Because I enjoyed the food and cannot find anything negative, I think this place deserves some attention. Giving my 5/5 star here :)

Empanadas! Came with 3, but I couldn't contain myself!

Our reservation was for 8:30pm, but we arrived early and Alejandra, the hostess, was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Even though she was ready to seat us, we decided to hang at the bar until the rest of our party arrived and that was the perfect move. Alkarys behind the bar was top-tier. She recommended the Siempre Reposado, and let me tell you... smooth, clean, dangerously good. If you're into tequila, that's a must. Now let's talk about the food. We ordered the quesadilla, rajas, tamales, tacos, and the queso fundido and every single dish hit. The queso fundido came out bubbling, rich, perfectly melted with that pull you want when you scoop it up. The tamales were moist and packed with flavor, wrapped beautifully and clearly made with care. The rajas had that perfect balance of roasted pepper sweetness and savory depth. The tacos? Authentic, well-seasoned, and layered with flavor, no shortcuts. Even the quesadilla stood out, crispy on the outside with that perfectly melted interior. Everything felt traditional, elevated but still true to its roots. You can taste the authenticity. Service was attentive without being overbearing, the ambiance was super casual and laid back, the kind of Brooklyn spot you pull up to for a real dinner experience, not just a quick bite. Highly recommend this place if you're out and about in Brooklyn. Definitely coming back for the tequila, the queso fundido, and round two of those tacos. I'm gonna try eating at the bar to check out the spot in the front of the house.

I'm genuinely in love with this place -- everything tastes homemade because it truly is. They have amazing weekly specials, too: * Happy Hour on Mondays ALL DAY with classic margaritas for only $10 (so good!) * Tecate Tuesday, perfect if you love an easy, chilled beer * And my absolute favorite: the Carnitas Combo -- tender, flavorful pulled pork that hits every time, available any day of the week. If you're vegetarian or avoid dairy, the Vegetable Burrito is incredible. It's hearty, packed with flavor, and wrapped in their house-made corn tortilla, which makes all the difference. Don't skip the chips -- with a scoop of guacamole on top of the warm chips. Heaven. Brunch here is another level: * Their chilaquiles are comforting and perfectly seasoned * And the eggs with steak is such a satisfying combo The cocktails are unreal -- especially their signature pineapple spicy cocktail. Truly one of the best I've had. Overall, Taqueria Milear is one of those rare spots where everything feels thoughtful, homemade, and delicious. I can't recommend it enough!

4.4 and rounded up. Ambiance 4 stars…read more Food 5 stars. Service 4.3 stars. AMBIANCE: Walking to the restaurant from the subway, it's located on an unassuming block at the corner of 4th St and Havemeyer in Williamsburg, front of store doesn't particularly stand out. Walking in they've decorated with creative, crafty (in a good way) touches--the multitude of ropes draped from the ceiling add dimension to the ceiling and the bar back wall is composed of wood pieces forming a multi-colored herringbone pattern. Textured glass pendant lights hanging from the ceiling throw mini geometric patterns across the dark walls, and vibrant canvas artworks add pictorial interest along the walls. FOOD: YUM. I can see why this place was jam packed on a Saturday night, and reservations are needed. Strong recommendation for their tasting menu at $58 pp, what a delightful meal! 8 sharing dishes and 3 desserts were perfect for a party of five, and drinks are separate though you can add a cocktail pairing for $47. For each main they provide a serving per person, and the desserts are shared. I came hungry and was so full by the end of the meal--everything was delicious! - grapefruit guacamole w/house-made chips: the grapefruit chunks were "meaty" and surprisingly went really well with the guac, it added a different citrus element than the usual lime. Comes with a small bowl of maybe 6-7 chips and we asked for two chips refills since the chips to guac and salsa ratio was low. - spicy faroe islands' salmon tartar: tasty and I liked the latin flavors and corn, snow peas, a touch of wasabi. Flavors of the sesame-soy-truffle-lemon vin and crema got a little muddled. Relatively more "generic" dish of the evening though I was here for it! Any dish with fresh tender salmon, I can't complain. - blue crab and carrot tostada, generous shredded crab salad on top of freshly crisp blue corn tortilla. Topped with pumpkin seeds, dill, cilantro, and saffron-orange aioli. - three cheese & artichoke 'queso fundido': served in a very hot ceramic pot and super melty and delicious, eaten with the fluffy grilled pita and green apple slices + salsa. One of the top picks of the evening. - roasted bone marrow and chorizo, served as tacos with fresh blue corn tortillas, and added a sprinkle of pickled onions--does that sound amazing? Bc it was AAHMAZING. - spicy chipotle-guajillo shimp 'diablo' (not spicy): served with pumpkin tortillas and three accompaniments on the side--mushroom chile crisp, horseradish crema, celery 'salsa macha". Part 2 to make your own tacos was another hit! Our entire table agreed if they sold the sauce for the shrimp we'd all buy it. - heritage pork osso bucco 'carnitas' with Fall-spiced black mole, sour cherry mostardo, calabrian chile pesto: cue drooling now. This part 3 of the tacos was served on pumpkin tortillas; the meat was practically falling off the bone, tender, juicy and flavorful. - buffalo-style com 'elote: sooo good too! A little messier to eat since it comes drizzled with spicy hot sauce butter, feta, lime aioli, cilantro, though totally worth it! - Desserts: --green tea matcha churros: comes with two little pots of spiced mexican chocolate & passion fruit sauce. Warm, sugary and crisp without being too sweet. --pumpkin spiced-vanilla flan: topped with sour cherries, cocoa nibs & toasted seed 'trail mix", if you love flan you'll love this, so smooth and creamy with a bit of crunch and tang from the cherries. --pistachio tres leches cake with cream cheese frosting, raspberry, using an olive oil cake: we all agreed this was probably the best tres leches we've ever had. The pistachio nuttiness and the creaminess from the milks paired well. SERVICE: Very friendly and attentive service though it was very loud in the restaurant and they had to really shout. There was a delay in the middle of our meal I think bc kitchen was slammed, after the entree we waited about 35 min for our desserts. Considering they limited the seating to 2 hours and about half of our party arrived 20 min late, and accounting for the long wait pre-dessert, they did us solid by extending our table time by about an hour in total. Also great that they brought the first dessert out with a candle for my friend's birthday.
