This place had completely blanketed the neighborhood with their trash. There are Ricos Tacos stickers on everything - poles, neighborhood free libraries for children, trees, bus stops, just everywhere. The menus are even worse - they are littering the streets on every block. Polluting the neighborhood with litter is not ok. They're a really bad neighbor to have done this. Making the residents live in their filth and clean it up themselves is unacceptable. They need to clean it up. All of the photos were taken within a 2 hour period this morning. Build business by offering quality, reasonably priced food. The money wasted on stickers and menus could have gone towards promotions to increase awareness. Destroying entire neighborhoods within a 15 block radius with trash is not going to entice people to support you. read more

The goal was to definitively decide, one way or the other, if NYC had any good Mexican food (or at least any Mexican-style food comparable to the West Coast- forget about being comparable to any Mexican city). My family and I have been coming here since I was a kid. The food here never failed! Tacos are delicious, meats are filled with flavor. It's a plus that they are opened late so any late night taco cravings just come here! I always get the al pastor, my favorite taco, and every now and then I would get carne asada. Only thing that isn't so appealing is that the owner never renovated or fixed anything up since... for as long as I can remember. My favorite taco place when I was living in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. It used to be smaller but now is bigger and more comfy. They serve the traditional Mexican food which ny favorites are the tacos the cueritos, posole y las tostadas. The services are on point and very friendly. A 25 minute wait for 6 little tacos on a Tuesday afternoon....was not even that busy. I was only crossing fingers that I would not get a ticket for parking at the hydrant right out front. Phew, I didn't. Thought it would've been a smooth and easy take out if I had an easy order. Two of each: Chicken, Spicy Pork, and Beef. Got home, stomach growling and everything, after all this, I take a bite into dry pieces of chicken. Okay, I still got my all time fave, the Spicy Pork, not even spicy. My last hope, oily beef. Not even that, they were rolled up in parchment paper, which it got stuck on to the tacos after being steamed in the take out container along with the grease from the beef. Rico's Tacos is a gem! I've been to the restaurant twice and, despite mixed experiences, want to keep coming back. The food is absolutely delicious; I genuinely had one of the best tortas yet (regarding my somewhat limited encounters with Mexican food) in my most recent stay. It's also very affordable (I got a torta + a taquito for $9). It's also possible to get more small, yet filling, dishes for under $5. Almost everything is under $10 - only some larger entrees go above that price. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because, the first time I ate at Rico's Tacos, I waited over 45 minutes for lemonade plus a taco. My friends and I were a bit irritable, but still had a nice time. Hopefully, future experiences will be handled better. I would still recommend this place to anyone considering it. Just make sure to BRING CASH and overestimate your eating time :) read more

The tacos are soooo legit. I love that this place offers lengua, cabeza, buche, and a bunch of other animal parts other places don't offer. The tacos are a decent size and cost no more than $3. You get unlimited chips and salsa the moment you sit down to eat. I ordered the guacamole, which was freshly made and chunky ( just the way I like it). It was a huge serving of guac, they might have used 2 avocados. This place isn't overpriced at all and the food is delicious. The only reason why I won't give them a 5-star rating is that they are so slow! I came at around 7 pm, the shop wasn't packed, but it took me 20-30 minutes to get my food. If you've been to Tacos El Bronco, a few blocks over on 4th, and you thought to yourself, I wish this place was even more authentic, and I wish it had a real seedy vibe ... well then, Ricos Tacos is for you. What Ricos lacks in decore, upkeep, cleanliness, and unbroken windows, they thoroughly make up for in authentic, almost obscenely inexpensive tacos. It's like $1.50 for a taco. $1.50. So you could get like a bag of pretzels, or, a delicious taco. I don't really know how you can beat that. Onto a few caveats: yes, this place is remarkably slow, almost to the point where it's impressive. Even on a relatively slow day, expect to wait around 20 minutes for a few tacos to finally show up ... and that's on the fast side. The restaurant itself seems to be in a rather questionable state of repair, where if I read in the news it collapsed tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest. But, it's all about the food, people, and they definitely do their tacos right. In this current age, where tacos are about as popular as crack cocaine in the late 80s, it's nice to see that some truly authentic places are still around, and completely unaffected by the recent explosion of their mainstay dish. What a great hole in the wall! The interior is definitely mom and pop store and a little sketchy, but the food is amazing! It's delicious and cheap. I find it hard to find any other restaurant that can rival Rico's tacos. Service is a little slow but they are very nice. There's is always people coming in and out of the store, but there are usually seats. The burritos are huge and can be eaten for two meals! Rico Suave has his own taco shop. It's really very good! You're gonna love it! He also owns Suave shampoo by the way. What to get: Arabes tacos, Huaraches, and Horchata What else: Ricooooooo. Suaaaaaaaaaave. I'll be brief, like a pair of boxers. The horchata here is fantastic. They make a special kind of taco called "Arabes" which is supposed to be Middle Eastern influenced. It's sliced off a big thingy, sort of like Pastor. It tastes great. They smother it in very unusual sauce. I love it. You can also get other types of Mexi-stuff here such as Huaraches. These thick, delicious thingamijiggies have a very greasy yummy squidgy base and are like heaven. They're even better than tacos. Try one. Wash it down with some Horchata. Thank me later. This is some of the best Mexican food in Brooklyn - on its day. I think that's what the main issue is. I've eaten here 3 times. Once was phenomenal. Once was mediocre. And once was pretty damn good. All three times I ordered similar things (tacos, huaraches and horchata). The main inconsistency is the Horchata. One day it'll be one of the best I've ever tasted. Another day it's not really very good. But you know... if you get it on a good day. You're in luck. And if it were a "De Gallo" kind of place, it'd be Pico's Tacos. The waitress/hostess was friendly and we ordered 4 tacos . 2 for each of us. The waitress had to ask us again if we reallyy wanted just 4. Once, they get to the table. the soft tortilla is hot with slight crisp and filled with meat, cilantro/parsley/radish and wedges of lime on the side. They provide you 3 sauce: green hot sauce, red hot sauce, and guacamole sauce. Place all 3 sauce on top, squeeze some lime juice, fold, and take the best bite ever!! After one bite, you are sold!!!
