I routinely get sushi takeout from here - they're quick to fill the orders and the staff is always pleasant and friendly. The non-sushi part of the menu is also really solid. This is the second time I've seen them having a grand re-opening- this time it was for new management. Nothing much have changed, however. Not that it's bad, but I'm just a little confused for the two grand re-openings. Staff here have always been friendly and eager to serve, never had an issue with them. Today, during COVID times my orders were always correct, and ready at their specified time. All staff do wear masks, and patrons are required to wear masks as well. Sushi here are decently priced, and they are all good! I do like how they have a vast selection of specialty sushi and simple sushi. Both are good in quality and taste. I returned and had to try out their bento box since I enjoyed it prior to the recent grand re opening.. For $17 you definitely get a lot! Irashi does it right. What a perfect little neighborhood sushi restaurant. Moderately priced. The first time I ate here was a pickup order. I took the food home, and to my surprise the sushi looked spectacular as I was unwrapping it! Great rolls. Black widow is my favorite. Hamachi with jalapeño, citrus and tobiko. The sashimi platter was so yummy packed with thick slices of fresh fish. Bluefin toro is THE BEST! I dined in the second time around. About 6 small tables total in the restaurant. And it was packed! Great spot in Admiral! They always do a good job here, and service is typically fast and no muss, no fuss. Hubs and I kept it light this time, so we shared a seaweed salad. He got a Rainbow Roll, and I got the Black Widow roll, one of the many spicy options they have! My "dessert" is typically saba (mackerel) nigiri, and it was smooth and buttery as always. There is a note on their door that they are closing their doors as of January 1st . Too bad , there are so few sushi spots in And it's opened now . Great very fresh and good portions. Wish the prices were more affordable but because of the area it's understandable that's not a possibility. The place is very quiet and besides me there was only one other person during the dinner time. Hope they ll remain open . It's clean and cozy with great soft couches and seats . Fills you up fast, so warm and fresh! The takoyaki with the sauces and flakes hit the spot and nearly filled me up before I had entree. It had a little bit of octopus with mostly breading. The Yakisoba was my favorite with the vegetables and beef in that sauce (slightly sweet) - all cooked perfectly. Ended up having to take part home since I was full, but warmed up great. Ok I went back and tried a bento box everyone was raving about! Yassss the Chicken Teriyaki Bento box is so good with huge portions! I have leftovers for tomorrow's lunch! Very "hidden" spot. Shout out to our waitress/Server Scarlett for the great service and ramen flavor reccomendation the tonkotsu ramen is highly recommended and the "west seattle" roll was a perfect blend of someone who loves spicy tuna and fried food and avocado! The egg in the ramen was perfectly cooked for a boiled egg. They used a great cut of pork. The broth was super savory and the wood ear mushrooms were perfectly cooked (easily over cooked). I really liked the spicy tuna, that is always my favorite when eating sushi but often it is not as "spicy" and they seasoned it perfectly. The server was extremely polite and helpful about deciding the best ramen flavor when my partner was indecisive... also their fried oysters were literally the best "chicken nugget of the sea" I've ever had... like imagine a good tasting oyster, but with the comfort and pleasure of having fried food for the first time in your life. 9.8/10 read more

Give this place a try! Last time we went here was about a year ago, and we weren't super impressed. My opinion has changed with the time and new management! We put in a large takeout meal and got it home without any issues. Everyone was masked up and the food was ready when they said it would be. Everything was delicious! The stand outs in our order were the deluxe sashimi plate and ultimate albacore roll. All the other rolls we tried were great too! Price on everything was very reasonable- as well as portion size. I think that sushi doc on Netflix has f'd the game the f up. You know about that insanely meticulous dude with the subway shop? Don't make me look it up people. See, if I didn't half ass it as much as I do, maybe I'd be a success, and revered like the aforementioned. But here I am, writing reviews about random sushi joints on Yelp. Well, you're here too, so that kind of makes you a complicit loser as well, so lets get down to it. I mentioned Jiro Dreams of Sushi because it made me have ridiculous expectations for the art when I don't even know what it tastes like. Can we eat California rolls anymore, or are we the suckers (FYI, you are a sucker)? What is good sushi? I'm not going to pay $300 for a fifteen minute meal, so I might never know, and that hurts! I guess the point I'm laboring toward is that I have sushi inadequacy issues. I don't know which joint are good, and which are fleecing me. I don't like relying on ya'lls reviews either cause I assume we're all in the same, unknowledgeable position. With ALL this, I did find this place on Yelp a few months ago. Its tiny, and on the far end of California Street. It might have 7 or 8 tables at max. Four booths on the right, and a few tables to the right. It was busy on a Friday night, and also on subsequent visits. That's not a bad thing as every time I've been seated fairly quickly, and the service is extremely prompt. I've always had a pleasant experience with their wait staff. Ok, to the food. Everything I've had here from the rolls, sashimi, and appetizers has been good (also the VERY critical Sapporo Black, step your game up Guinness). The rolls run from traditional to off the wall. They are also fairly large, so a couple will be plenty for one person. The food is clean, and their strange sauces range from tangy to spicy. I'd really give a specific recommendation, but that would require me to roll back through time on myriad of food pics. At this point, I'm just trying to crank out a review to keep up my prolific Yelp profile. BTW, peep my Bruciato review, which was Review of the Day last week. You're welcome. The most ridiculous, and tasty roll is probably Monkey Brains. Its spicy, large, and tempura fried. Take a look at the pics of other rolls as I'm not smart enough to remember them all. Old age, and booze will do that too you. You've been warned millennials. The sashimi is clean, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. I forgot what Jiro said, but I'm pretty sure he said that rice was the most important thing. Or maybe that was the guy on Anthony's show...I don't know, I find it good, so maybe that's all that's important. Sidenote: The second time I frequented Irashai, I noticed on the chop stick cover West Seattle, and Fairbanks printed as locations. I thought this couldn't be Fairbanks, Alaska, where I'm from, so I did a quick search online if there was a Fairbanks Street or something in the Seattle area. You know, cause the PNW isn't the real PNW. Come to Alaska, and see the real. Ya'll are just little brother's biting our names, and style. The kids would call ya'll culture vultures, but I digress. Come to find out that this place does have a location in my hometown, which blew my mind. How'd I end up at some random sushi joint with ties to my hometown of 35 years. I have so many questions that nobody cares about except me...hit me up if you know the origins though. If you're looking for a decent to good sushi joint, and you live in the West Seattle area, I'd make this your go too. I mean, not that I've really checked out any other places. Came here after a trip to IKEA to escape the heat. This place has some really fresh sushi, and the Omasake roll concept is awesome. You can tell them what you want in the roll and they'll come up with something. A weird thing with the plating for me is the sauces that are usually on the roll itself are in a design on the plate. I like it on my roll, makes for more even flavor distribution. Smaller restaurant, decent location with street parking. The dragon roll was my absolute fave of all the things we tried. I'm a sushi fiend and have never heard of this place somehow, so when I saw the listing on Doordash I decided to give it a shot. The sushi roll I got was the one with cream cheese, avocado, salmon and mango- it tasted pretty bland, and was put together shoddily (it somehow looked and behaved like someone who isn't used to rolling and cutting sushi did it) but it was edible. However the texture of the udon noodles I received was downright bizzare. If I were hungrier I'd have at it anyway but I just couldn't stomach it. They weren't large and 'gooey' like normal udon,they were firm and skinnier than they should be like they were overcooked. 2 stars because the Tempura was fine, and I'd imagine kind of hard to mess up. read more

HMMMM... pretty confused based on these reviews. I expected much more. "One of the best sushi places in Seattle" is a bold statement and for me, a complete miss. I could argue Mashiko is one of the best. Japanessa is also fantastic at a similar price point. I live in West Seattle and wanted to love it, but it was sub-par. Maybe a step up from grocery store sushi and way overpriced for the quality and quantity. I cannot speak to a dine-in experience. We placed an order though Door Dash (which has always been fantastic) and this to-go order was just bad. It didn't include soy sauce, wasabi or ginger. The bigger disappointment for me was the imitation crab. $19.99 for a sushi roll with imitation crab and the six piece "chefs choice" sashimi (also $19.99) that included tilapia and a fake shiso leaf was an epic fail. This has been my favorite sushi place from the moment it opened. The people here are incredibly nice and you always feel welcome. And the sushi is AMAZING. Today I ordered to-go and had a mishap while waiting. I'd bought groceries and set them down on a chair - where they promptly crashed to the floor and the glass items broke and spilled everywhere. OMG So Embarrassing! The people of Irashi were incredible. They compensated me for the groceries and gave me free miso. My broken groceries made such a mess and they were so gracious. First time trying this place tonight and everything was SO GOOD! The miso soup was extra miso-y, the mushroom bombs were absolutely delicious, sashimi was fresh and a great portion and presentation (like everything else), and the seared salmon roll was so good I didn't even want to dunk it in soy sauce, like I do most sushi rolls. Our server was friendly provided great service, and even the decor is cute (those bulbs over the tables are so pretty!). Prices were super responsible, I've easily spent more on less delicious sushi at a lot of the bigger name places downtown. We will definitely be back any time our sushi craving hits, and now that we know we have an affordable and delicious option in West Seattle I think that craving will hit much more often. If you're going on a Friday/Sat night, you may end up having a wait. We lucked up and walked in on a Friday night around 6p and got the last open table. Food: We were hungry so we ordered 2 miso soups, 1 calamari, 1 monkey brain, 1 seaweed/cucumber salad, 1 spicy tuna roll, 1 tuna roll, and 1 lighthouse roll. This was more than enough food for 2 hungry people and we left stuffed! I thought the bulk of the flavor for the miso soup was at the bottom of the bowl, so next time I'd stir it a bit before eating it. The calamari had decent flavor, but I may not order that again.
