For me it's always a crap shoot on finding a good, honest mechanic. I don't have to look any further, Interstate Auto Repair was great, from my first interaction to my last. I called them to setup an appointment and the next day had my car towed there. As soon as my car arrived they called me to let me know it was received. The next morning, which is when my appointment was set for, Jeremy call at 8 AM and told me they had already diagnosed the issue and how much the repair would be. The price was reasonable and my car was available by 10 AM. They offer free shuttle service which was a bonus since I couldn't find a ride. An excellent experience all around. I am so overwhelmed by how kind, professional & HONEST this auto repair shop is!!! Having your vehicle die blowing hot air with engine light blinking at 4 pm in 114F on a hectic Friday with a car full of angsty teens is never a good thing. I am a busy single mom, I don't mess around worrying about where to take my vehicle and have always trusted the dealership for service. NOT ANYMORE!!! After receiving an over $2K quote and being told my radiator was cracked and needed to be replaced a car-savvy friend told me that quote did not seem right and insisted I call Interstate Auto for a 2nd quote. I called and explained my repairs they gave me an estimate at LESS THAN HALF of the dealership quote! I promptly had a tow service bring my vehicle to them feeling so relieved to not be paying over $2K.....a day later Interstate called me to tell me they had found no cracks in the radiator and that it was just the radiator CAP & coolant cap that were cracked and needed to be replaced. HOLY CATS!!!!! I literally CRIED when I picked up my vehicle and they handed me a bill for $137!!! I am giving 2 stars because, although my cars issue was not fixed after 2 times and about a week at the shop - they were very nice. I took my Jeep back to Interstate after I bought it and they were supposed to have fixed the transmission leak. I took back again and they had the Jeep for about 5 days - I took it back and the next morning, my driveway had a puddle of fluid again. I took the Jeep to a different shop down the street and they determined that they used rtv and a gasket, 3 bolts were loose and 1 bolt was missing. Needless to say, the other shop fixed it within 2 hours. read more

We have been taking both of our vehicles to Interstate Auto for over a year now. Our truck is older and Jeremy has been wonderful with working with us to understand repairs and our options. Rainy is also a pleasure to talk to and is always helpful in scheduling service. Overall, they are always quick to get us in for an appointment, the pricing is more than fair, and their service is top-notch! Recently, our truck had a sudden issue and our car was due for its 100k oil change/check-up. A few months back we took our 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan that we keep at our vacation town home in AZ to Interstate for a wheel alignment as the steering wheel wasn't perfectly straight when on the Interstate, which was annoying to me, as I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to such things. We arrived at the appointment time, and were shown to the waiting room that was nicely equipped, and came with an employee's dog for company (sweet dog-we LOVE dogs BTW), a nice TV, and coffee. An hour and a half later the sweet young receptionist came in and said, " I have some bad news for you." I stood and asked what she was speaking of. She said, (And I quote): "Our technician say your van's tie rod ends are all broken, and the van cannot be aligned, but for $400 they could be replaced, and then the van COULD be aligned and the van would again be safe to drive on the highway." I asked WHICH tie rod ends, the Inner out Outer? She stammered a bit , I'm not sure she knew the van's rack and pinion steering system on the has inner tie rods (they are part of the rack) and outer tie rod ends, and said that she thought the inner ones were worse, but they were ALL "broken"because the van was "pretty old." Unknown to the shop was I own an automotive repair shop in Olympia, Washington, and have been a professional FAA licensed aircraft, and auto technician/shop owner for over 45 years. I specialize in mainly European luxury brands, but work on all makes and models, and am VERY familiar with front end and suspension work (I do it literally ALL the time), and if one's tie rods are "broken" the car will not steer at ALL, and even with modest wear, the driver will be quite aware of "play" in the steering, and vague handling. This van had NO such symptoms. This absolutely freaked my wife out, but I refused to allow them to do the work with the excuse we didn't have time that day as we were heading back to Seattle (true) later that day, and their parting words were, "Don't wait too long." We took the van back and we went to a parking lot where I demonstrated to my wife that our van was perfectly safe (no lost motion in the steering, and no play in the tie rods as she held her hands on them while I "rocked" the wheel a bit side-to-side from inside), but their "warnings" still held sway with her and she no longer trusted the van to be safe especially with our grand-kids, despite my experience and assurances. On my wife's next visit to AZ where our Town House is located (I stayed in WA that trip), I set her up with an appointment with another shop (Scottsdale) to have the alignment done, and told her to ask for a THOROUGH inspection of the suspension and steering (to calm her doubts). Thirty five minutes later, they handed her the keys and said the steering and suspension components were "like new," which I well knew. I suspect Interstate saw us as an "easy sell" given our senior age (we are a young 71, and I still personally perform most of the work at my shop) and completely ignored that our 12 year old van was literally like new and had only 40,000 miles since new, whereas outer tie rod ends typically don't develop any noticible play (wear) until well over 100,000 miles, and inner ones can go up to 200,000 miles before needing replacement. I suspect they went by the van's age and doubt they even bothered to LOOK at the odometer, unless they took us for complete idiots. Unfortunately I see this all too often in my business, and consider it predatory, and beside it gives the profession a bad name and reputation. I ALWAYS take pictures and sometimes videos on my phone to demonstrate badly worn parts (like tie rod ends) and ALWAYS return (or at least show) their used parts to the customer for their examination because all too many customers have been flim-flammed and appreciate the practice. read more

After reading the reviews for this place I took my car there. I thought I needed new brakes and was fully expecting to be spending at least $300 that day. Shortly after dropping my car off I received a phone call from the shop explaining they found the source of the grinding sound and it was only going to cost $50! They said my brakes were fine! These guys are trust worthy and reliable. I feel they treat me the same way I treat my customers and there is no better feeling when something breaks on your vehicle. My belt broke on my Malibu they towed my car fix the belt and replaced the pulleys with metal replacements and not that crap plastic GM used. They also helped me pass emissions and once changed my oil and filter for the best price I've seen yet. Anyways figured I'd leave a review because I'm going back tomorrow for my brakes. I needed a minor service and was looking for a new place in the area since I've had bad luck at other shops. They got me in same day, stayed within the timeframe they said they would and was very competitive on price. When I picked it up they didn't try to sell me on anything I didn't need, refreshing. When it comes to auto mechanics, I generally never have anything nice to say. That is not the case with Keith, his wife, and the rest of the crew at Interstate Auto. If you've ever experienced a dealership service center (or some other dishonest mechanic), you're probably used to the BS/false sense of urgency of replacing stuff you don't need or have for ungodly amounts of money...that's what happened to me. My Lexus dealer told me my brake pads were completely out and running down my rotors 6 MONTHS AGO! They then quoted me an obscene amount to replace them and told me if I didn't act right then and there, the cost of damages would increase exponentially. They even told me I'd likely need to replace the rotors because there wasn't enough room to remachine them...I took my car to two other shops, including Interstate. After inspecting my car, Keith personally called me to let me know I still had up to 30% pad left and did not recommend changing them out for another few months. Furthermore, remachining the rotors would be no problem because there was plenty of room left...when I asked how much the job would be, it was literally 25% the cost of what Lexus quoted me... If your sick of dealership service centers or the typical a-hole mechanic trying to nickel and dime you every chance you get, come visit the crew at Interstate (and at the very least, get a second opinion)...I'll be a lifelong customer!! read more

I took my GX470 into Keith's shop after being ripped off by the Lexus dealer for several years. I read the Yelp reviews and decided to give it a try. I have to tell you that Keith is one of the best mechanics I have met. He answered my questions and recommended the right approach. He also suggested what I needed to do in terms of replacement. Here is one data point about their level of integrity - The Lexus dealer in Chandler recommended changing my brake pads (this was about 8K miles earlier). Keith and his team said the brake pad was fine. I also know that brake pads last significantly more than 27K miles (which is when the Chandler Lexus dealer wanted me to replace the brake pads). I am so glad I found this place. Thanks to other who shared their experiences. "Sounds almost too good to be true" ....a auto repair center that you can truly trust - if I didn't experience it myself I would be repeating the same line. Keith and his guys will tend to your car, and solve the problems in the most practical way - unlike most places that will offer to rebuild your entire car, when all you needed was an oil change. If something needs to be repaired they will tell you, and if it doesn't they will tell you that also. They're honest and friendly and dependable. You do need to call ahead because via word of mouth...they are a busy place, and they hate to disappoint, so they dont make promises they can't keep. Some crazy woman calls him from another state and asks for help and boy did he deliver. I asked him to do a pre-purchase on a used car I found on the internet. Keith was very professional and went out of his way to get this done in less than 3 days so I would know whether to drive out and look at the car. I highly recommend interstate auto repair if you want to bring your vehicle in and literally have all your car troubles go away, but instead of simply fixing an O2 sensor they'll completely break your car, not fix it, and then offer to tow your now broken car to your house. But due to personal experience I highly recommend you have them tow your broken car home because when you go to pick it up your car won't be there, they won't have any paperwork on it, And won't be able to tell you where it is. On the other hand they will tell you they reported it abandoned but once you go to the DMV you realize you're cars not reported abandoned its still in your name and this car repair shop will not tell you what they did with your car?! You'll probably end up like me having to file a stolen vehicle report, To this day I still do not know where my car is after dropping it off at interstate auto!!!!! I thought I gave an accurate account of what happened including how I brought my car into be fixed, not stored? Also I eluded to the fact that I indeed did have contact with you several times like when you offered to tow my broken car to my house, then again once you said reported it abandoned which was false, and even more contacts when I came directly into the store? So yes they are two sides to every story, but let's enlighten your current and future customers on the actual facts, and the way it actually was handled... And nice to see you guys are commenting on Yelp reviews but not responding to my legal team simply asking for your insurance information? So we can all try and fix this situation? Without involvement in the BBB or insurance?? Obviously not Seeing how this situation is still unresolved and in fact the only attempts from Interstate Auto Repair is commenting on the yelp review, which is not in anyway trying to fix the situation?
