I have had two experiences with Brian, owner of Slaughter & Associates. I actually bought a preowned vehicle from him back in May for my son. Brian gave us an honest deal and was a pleasure to work with. The second experience was this week. We live far from this place...we wanted to use Slaughter but tried first to see if another shop closer would be able to help. They couldn't give me a definite answer or make me feel like my car was in good hands without it being way expensive. Decided to make the drive & drop off at Slaughter. The fix was done within a day & the bill was very reasonable. Decided to bite the bullet from now on and make the drive with my car repairs bc I know the shop will be honest & reasonable . Since moving to Ahwatukee 4 years ago I was lucky enough to find this place. Brian and his team have always fixed my 3 vehicles to complete satisfaction every time. They were always the most reasonable or in the top 2 when it came to estimates until I stopped looking elsewhere. On one occasion had brought my vehicle in for a second opinion after taking to the dealership. What I found is a truly honest mechanic that saved me over $1,000 of repairs/replacements for my vehicle. Brian only does the work that's needed and doesn't BS his customers into unnecessary repairs. I highly recommend. They have taken care of my Tahoe, Mercedes, and now BMW. This is my mechanic and I recommend to anyone that needs repairs, trouble shooting, and vehicle maintenance to come here. Pros: Honest mechanics that go above and beyond to ensure vehicle is running properly. The prices are very reasonable and typically lower than other shops and definitely dealerships. Again very honest!!! That's so hard to find. Cons: They don't have time specific appointment times. They have appointment days where you take your car and drop off when they open at 7am or you can drop off the night before or earlier than 7am if needed and leave keys in drop box on a specific day. Brian (Owner) will usually call around 10am-11am with an update on what's going on with the vehicle and typically get a time then when car will be finished or if parts are ordered and when they are coming in. I feel lucky to have found Slaughter because there's no shenanigans. Their work is consistently good. When they quote you a price over the phone, it's the same price you pay upon pickup. When you get an oil change, they always tighten things back up so there's no dripping afterwards. My favorite part is that they never try to get you to fix a bunch of other things that you didn't know were wrong with your vehicle. This builds a trusting relationship so that when they do tell me I need to fix something, I can take their word for it because they haven't tried to upsell me ever before. read more

Daughter has been her 3 times now with her older American car. They have always been easy to work with, honest in evaluation, and offer reasonable prices. Their solid reputation on Yelp got me feeling skeptical of their reviews. I can't seem to figure out whether this is just an isolated incident, or a subtle message for me to spend my money elsewhere. I brought my car in in the morning as per my scheduled appt from last week, for routine maintenance and additional workup for it to adapt to desert environment. Naturally I needed oil change, oil filter changed, check engine light check, tire rotations, etc., but I am under the impression that this did not went well with Brian; that I did not give him the power to manipulate my decisions or to provide him the upper hand. Subjectively speaking, I do think that these guys are honest (they did not try to upcharge me for an alignment which I thought I needed), reasonably priced, decent communication via text. Perhaps Brian was really having a bad day, but when I went to pick up my car in I provided him an opportunity to educate me on coolant flush, his response made me feel as if my question was redundant, oh wells nothing our little search engines cannot do nowadays. It's worth noting that my dash cam was unplugged and automatically headlights turned off, that they forgot to reverse these adjustments at the time my vehicle was returned to me. Meineke wanted to charge me $400 to change my thermostat on my overheating Colorado. Obviously, their diagnostics failed to catch the pile of leaves and branches piled up against my radiator. I went in to pay for my parents repairs that Big O said only a new engine would fix (which the problem was a result of Big O servicing, but more on that in their review). I was met by the owner who identified himself as such and began explaining the problem and even having the bad part to show. Seems honest and down to earth. I want to start off by saying i am so glad i found this place! Brian has been fantastic! I originally went to Fletcher's for an oil change and for them to take a look at my roaters (i knew they were wearing down). Fletcher's was quoting me almost $3000 to replace my roaters, strut hats, and mentioned something about some leaks that were causing my roaters to go bad. Since $3000 is a pretty penny, i decided to get a second option. I found Slaughter here on Yelp and all i can say is im an so glad i did. I dropped my car off in the morning and by mid after noon they called me with the results. I had bad roaters and he mentioned my strut hats and possible struts should be replaced. Then he stated that he would like to take a deeper look into why when i turn there is a clunking noise (a noise i heard but didn't think twice about it). What some great service. After they checked over my vehicle (free by the way), they quoted me way less for the work. In fact they stated that nothing was even leaking! In the end the car repairs will only cost me around $890! Drastic difference to Fletcher $3000 they were quoting me! Its not ever day you find an honest car repair shop, but i can honestly say this one is one of them! I have no doubt i will be a continued customer and refer people as much as possible! read more

I asked if he would inspect it and let me know of any problems since I had 1 day left under CPO warranty to get them resolved with BMW. Wow, not only did he review the cat thoroughly, but he provided me a detailed breakdown of what I needed to fix. So deserving. I hit a curb hard, a mile from this store whole passing through town from out of state and punctured the tire. I break out Yelp and see who looks trustworthy and find Brian Slaughter. I call and then drive down. Because it's a Subaru AWD, all 4 tires needed to be replaced, urgently, that day. I bought a 1999 ford ranger with a recently replaced transmission from the shop owner Brian. I know nothing about trucks and simply needed an around town "beater" truck and I didn't have a lot of money. Based on everything I've read online a 1999 ford ranger is the truck I wanted due to cheap maintenance and reliability. I would have never bought a truck with 230k miles on it unless I felt comfortable with the person selling me the car. Needles to say they made me feel very comfortable so I decided to buy it at a fair market price. A week went by and the transmission died... this is where normally people get upset and can only blame themselves for buying an old truck and not knowing what they're getting themselves into just like I did. I went out on a limb and texted the shop. They responded immediately and took 100% ownership of the problem! Not only did they take the truck back and rebuild the transmission ***FOR FREE*** but they also did a free oil change and brake flush for my troubles!! Holy crap!!! Who does that?! how did I get this lucky?!!! I'm used to getting screwed on deals so this was a completely new experience for me. I hope this review helps future customers as this is how I made my decision when choosing to do business with this shop. I have regained faith in humanity. These guys have showed me that not everyone is out to screw you. I'm still speechless thinking about it and can't thank them enough. This place was awesome! I was in such a rush the week of leaving on a road trip and realized I needed to get my brakes done and an oil change. I called, got an estimate and they got me in first thing the next morning. Upon arriving, I expressed that I would need to call an Uber to take me home if they needed to do the breaks as I still needed to pack for our out of town trip. I am so impressed with Slaughter & Associates. I brought a high mileage truck in after making an appointment for a diagnostic check with an extremely rough idle after a bunch of work had been performed by my long time mechanic of 25 years. I had a good idea on what was wrong and was prepared to pay a certain amount based on the info I had and my own abilities. They knew what I assumed/thought was wrong and easily could have run with that and made the repair and charged me accordingly. After some thought and deductive reasoning on Mr.Slaughters part he figured out what the problem really was and the bill ended up being less than a quarter of what I had thought it would be.
