ATAC was recommended to me by friends. My Tucson needed a tune up and at this point in my life, I'm done with dealerships. It's a bit of a drive out to this part of Gilbert but with hopes they'd do a good job, it'd be worth it only a couple times a year. Glad I gave them a shot. Jason was who I spoke with on the phone and in-person. He assured me it wouldn't take long for a 25k tune up, but it did because after running some diagnostics he let me know the battery was almost dead and I needed new filters (among a couple other things). Tried to call the dealership to see if my OE battery was under warranty and what the cost might be, but getting that smidge of info proved difficult, so I let ATAC do the work. Where do I start? Ahh yes bait and switch much? I called around to 5 different shops in the area to get a quote on a clock spring and rear shocks for my Armada. Was advised over the phone by Mike at ATAC that it would be $370 for the parts and labor on the clock spring and that the rear shocks were fine but fronts needed replacing. After calling to other places ATAC seemed to be the cheapest for the clock spring. I brought the vehicle in and when Mike called back saying that looks like it's gonna need a whole assembly and it would be $672 out the door. After asking why the difference in price he said because it needed a whole new assembly not just the spiral cable. Keep in mind already had the Nissan dealership quote me for a broken spiral cable not the assembly and their price was $789. Of course I didn't want to pay dealer prices. Anyways I advised Mike that it was more than I wanted to spend. He stated that if I choose to do some of the work there they could waive the $55 inspection fee. First I didn't even know there was this fee because he didn't advise me of it before I brought the vehicle in. I said ok that would be great. He said he will just check with the manager and get back to me. Today I got a call that the car was ready for pickup. I went in and the $55 fee was not waived and I never got a call from him after he supposedly was going to check with the manager. My price was $729. Wait I thought it was $672 out the door like I was told on the phone. Mike was not willing to make it right in person either. I'm sorry but during a time when everyone's jobs are uncertain and we all need every penny of our hard earned money Mike could have at least waived the fee and earned my business as a returning customer. Sorry ATAC you won't get my business again. If you want to make it right please reach out to me and perhaps stand behind your employees words. read more

Mother In Law took 2008 Avalon in for overheating. They told her new radiator hoses, thermostat, and also that the serpentine belt was cracking (there were other things on their "list" that weren't chosen for repair.) Never-mind that they charged a $50 diag fee and didn't really diagnose the overheating. Replaced JUST those three items for over $700!!! Seriously?! These guys are thieves! Thermostat doesn't even require a new water pump. She got it back and I popped the hood (after it was overheating still), the RH fan still never comes on (supposed to as soon as the AC is switched, no matter the vehicle/engine temp) and there was NO coolant in the reservoir. The car also has this new ticking. DON'T use these guys! read more

ATAC is a super auto repair facility in the east valley. We are lucky enough to live right around the block from their facility. Wayne was incredibly helpful when my daughter was stranded in her high school parking lot with no power to open the door locks. He quickly determined the problems: a broken manual door handle lock and a loose cap on the battery cable. He got creative with reaching up under the car to push the battery cable to make contact and get power enough to allow her to open the door! Later he replaced the loose clamp at no charge! Eric is super helpful at the front desk and the whole place is clean with a comfortable and open waiting room. They can sometimes give you a ride home if local. Check them out! read more

A friend of mine about ten years ago suggested I try Arizona Total Auto Care and over the last ten years I haven't taken my vehicle anywhere else since. They seem to be the most honest mechanics I've come across and, unlike a few places I've gone to in the past, if your car doesn't need work done, they'll tell you so. Everyone there has always been very nice and the owner has personally driven me home on occasion when my vehicle needed to stay longer than originally anticipated. The biggest thing that keeps me going back is the fact that my 16 year old vehicle still runs great since I began taking it to them and I don't see myself needing a new vehicle anytime soon because they've done such a great job taking care of it. read more

As a customer, one can tell they are very family oriented and those core values show in their work as well as their customer service. Started out loving their service but no more. I'm wondering if they've had a turn around of their staff. First I took my car in to have a motor mount replaced. Seemed to go ok until a couple weeks later unwashed driving on 60 when my car started smoking real bad and a horrible burnt rubber smell was coming from under the hood. I pulled over and found a belt shredded. Took it in and they told me that the "cap" from the motor mount had fallen off and wedged into a spot near the serpentine belt. I told them that they had just replaced the motor mount 2 weeks prior. After checking their records they saw that they did indeed replace it and came to the conclusion that it wasn't fastened correctly, in any case they were going to cover both the new motor mount and the serpentine belt. I've had problems ever since that may or may not be related to the damage caused by the wedged cap and tore up belt. I recently had an alternator go bad, obviously they never test drove it or checked the panel because as I drove off the light on my dash was still on indicating a problem. I turned back around and took it back. They forgot to reset the codes or something like that. Then the next day my battery light kept turning on and off. Figured it was a loose wire or belt issue because it seemed to happen as I went around corners. Took it back in and they said it was a bad alternator even though it had just been rebuilt. Wondering why they would install my rebuilt alternator if it was bad. Of course they charged me over $200 for the installation. They wanted to charge over $500 for a new alternator and the instillation. I will not be back to Atac again. I feel their work has gotten very sloppy. read more

It's been about a week since I shipped my faulty caliper to A-Tac and they have mailed me a check to reimburse me for the part. I think it may have been the owner but he called me personally and apologized for all the trouble I'd been through. It of course didn't make the fact that I'd missed two days of work and had to pay for parts that I probably didn't need go away. However I do appreciate their willingness to help and it may have been a fluke that I had such bad luck. I don't know that i'd go back but it doesn't really matter since I'm 1,000 miles away. read more

My neighbor who is a mechanic told me to go to this shop. Being a young chick who knows nothing about cars and driving my 2002 civic above 150k miles... I am and have been a prime target for plenty of rip off stories. I've taken my car here twice now. The first time was impressive, but this past time my air conditioning went out. Speaking with Jessica I expressed my concerns about the cost, after the mechanic evaluated it she called with a very affordable estimate with a maximum charge. I picked up the car after the repair before they closed. On the way home I noticed the AC was still not working so I returned it the following morning. Jessica was immediately upset to see me return. I have no doubt the person who made the mistake was held accountable. My car was taken to the garage immediately. The shop had my car for two additional days waiting on parts (my electrical panels were to blame for the AC not making the connection to the switch.) ATAC took more responsibility than was necessary and I was not charged any further costs. I know those mechanics paid for their small mistake in parts and labor to keep my business, and for that I had to write a review. I should mention the first time they worked on my car (replacing belts and flushing out old fluids..) there were zero complications and the job they did was fantastic. It is worth describing that when mistakes do happen there are still businesses out there who suffer a hit to keep a customer... because they didn't have to, they chose to. This is my shop! read more

I've taken at least six different vehicles to this shop, felt as though I could trust them to the point that I stopped shopping around when I needed a vehicle fixed, I automatically took it to them and again trusted them. I paid $850 for a fuel pump to be replaced, later my buddy called me and told me I got ripped off to find out that in fact I did get ripped off. The shop ended up over charging me $350 but would only give me back $200. Unfortunately I now cannot go to them. I really wanted to trust them but they ruined it!! Beware!! read more

I spoke with a service advisor at the end of the day requesting a quote for my ac. He told me a price without even looking up my car. I then asked him for a paper quote and he said I just told you. I feel this poor communication and customer respect will affect all aspects of the work so I decided to not patronize this business. I started out thinking this place was great. They have a nice locally owned feel and seemed customer service oriented. Unfortunately, it usually isn't until this week that their "customer service focused" rhetoric was put to the test... FAILED MISERABLY. I took my car to have the oil changed and tires rotated. It was driving totally normal but they suggested it was about time to have them rotated again, so I followed their advice. When I picked my car up and drove out of the parking lot, I immediately noted it sounded very loud, almost like a small jet taking off. I thought maybe it was the road surface and decided to wait and see if it continued. Later that day, I took my car out for some errands, the noise was still there. When I entered the freeway, the steering wheel started vibrating forcefully and there was a noticeable pull to the right. I called ATAC and explained the symptoms that developed after having the tires rotated. They told me to bring it back in and they would take a look. After they looked at it, they advised the tires were worn and all 4 needed to be replaced. I find that very interesting that they performed (and charged) for a tire rotation without ever realizing the severe wear on the tires! They even gave me an update on the tire condition when I picked up the car, which they noted to be fine and only suggested maybe thinking about replacing two of the tires in "another oil charge or two, definitely no rush". After recognizing their oversight, they did not offer to refund the charge for the tire rotation, even though it was COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY since now they are suggesting I replace all 4 tires asap! I have had cars a long time, and have never had a problem with a repair shop being able to correctly identify worn tires. I'm not sure if they are incompetent or if they just wanted to charge for the tire rotation since they don't sell tires at their shop and therefore wouldn't make any money off of that service. Either way, consumer beware! I won't ever be taking my car here again, nor would I ever recommend this place to anyone! read more
