So now I've seen Dr. Dee Tekell two years in a row here. She is fantastic! That woman LOVES eyes. You can see her passion for optometry in her eyes. She is very warm, competent, and thorough. She can make you understand everything going on with your eyes in a very easy to understand way without being condescending. Plus she addresses my dry eyes with some very low cost and practical solutions. Ample samples of trial contacts is really going to help, too. They will give you a AAA discount! The fantastic optometric assistant at the desk thought to ask me if I had AAA. The glasses I got a few years ago, although they look awesome, turned out to not work for me. I had them adjusted umpteen times and they just don't work. It's unfortunate but maybe I have a weird head. read more

I had such a great experience at this place. As a nerd, I loved the ultra-cool gadgets for checking your eyes, and Dr. McQueen was really nice. Further, they had a good selection of glasses, and was able to pick a pair out I really like in the same visit. Usually that sort of thing would take me a year. If you've got eye trouble, come here. read more

I have used Innovative Eyecare now for over a year and am very happy with the Service they provide. Their staff is Professional, happy, and very helpful. They take BCBS, which was a plus and saves me money. Dr. Tekell is awesome, knowledgable and very attractive (hehehe). The only thing negative is that their frames and contacts are a bit more expensive than ordering online. However, I will return again and recommend to others. 1 Star - Clean Facility 1 Star - Professional Staff 1 Star - Insurance Taken 1 Star - Awesome Doctor -1 Star - Slightly Pricey read more

the lady sizing my glasses literally BROKE my glasses the 2 seconds of having them!!!! IN FRONT OF ME!!! i waited 2 WEEKS!!! Do not recommend having the lady in the back touch ur glasses.I also will have been coming here for 6 years and guess what? this will 100% be my last year coming. I will also be calling every day until i get my glasses since i really don't trust y'all anymore. edit- day 2 i have been calling 3 times a day to make sure they are looking for the glasses that they broke and they keep saying "we will call you by the end of the day" um no you haven't i called you and then laura else said you left w message which i do not have anything missed called or voicemails from y'all. DO NOT go to this glasses place. Nicole, laura, and Olivia and the old lady in the back are the most unprofessional employees. They do not know how to handle anything or even know how to update someone if they have found them or not, so they can continue looking else where. I highly recommend you look else where for glasses and getting your eyes checked!!! Edit: after 7 days of looking for the glasses old patrica BROKE. they are now not able to find the same glasses i spent $ 1,000 on!! and they even sold me the warranty for them. i also stand by that oliva is incompetent and doesn't know how to do her job as the manager had to take over! and he even asked her to call me on monday Because he was out, and she didn't even call. The only person that is professional is the first dude who helped me. 10/10 DO NOT recommend going to this place unless you want them to ruin your glasses. I also love how they got new management, Maybe they need a whole new set of employee's. read more

I took my father here for an eye exam about a year ago and I also bought a pair of glasses here. It was pleasant experience. Doctors: 5 Star Doctor was very professional and thorough in their exam. Optician: 5 Star Optician lady was very patient and helped both of us pick out a pair glasses. She was very helpful. Not too pushy and didn't try to up sell. Front desk and tech: 4 Stars Were average. No complaints but no compliments Overall 5 star since most important factors is getting a good exam with good glasses. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants a good exam. I live up north so I don't know if I will go back but i would recommend this place for anyone who live in south austin. read more

I initially came in with a pair of glasses (my mom broke during a fall). Camille was absolutely wonderful to work with.! I do not wear glasses, so felt out of my element. Camille was able to search through the inventory and use my mom's lenses in a new, sturdy- yet fashionable frame. I can't recommend Innovative Eyecare or Camille enough!! read more

I had a great experience. I like my old eye doctor fine, no real complaints but I bought a Groupon for the eye exam and contacts. It was a good deal and I was down to my last set of disposables. This place is twice as nice as my regular eye doc. I had a wait time but it wasn't anything outrageous (maybe fifteen minutes) and they have an iPad to play with while you wait. The front office staff seemed friendly and knew what was going on. The lab tech was personable and professional. I read a review that said some of the machines weren't working, that wasn't my experience. All the machines worked fine. They actually did a few more test that my regular doc never performed. It was a little weird seeing my eyeball on a big screen and the doc pointed out a couple of freckles on my cornea. She told me to start wearing UV sunglasses because you can freckle on your eyeballs too. Great. The doc walked me through all of my results and answered all my questions. I have terrible vision and a stigmatism. Yep, I'm a nerd. The doc ordered a pair of a new brand of contacts since my they stopped making my old brand. She wanted to make sure the new contacts were going to work and she was going to keep trying till I was happy. No charge for the trial pair and the second visit to see if they fit right. I thought that was awesome. My only complaint is that they're way off of William Cannon and Mopac. I'm a typical Austinite and don't like to drive more than 15 minutes to get anywhere. Even though they're the opposite side of town, they're my new eye doctor. read more

Nowadays, my expectation of any medical professional is that they're going to try to sell me something that I don't need. It's just the nature of the beast as regards medical care in our United States nowadays. That was NOT the case here. I needed some reading glasses -- that's all. I do a LOT of work in front of a computer, and I'm doing more and more reading, AND I'm getting a bit up there in years, so, hey, I need some reading glasses. The front desk was crowded -- really -- with staff. Some were in training, and they didn't hesitate to tell me so. Honesty is the best policy (it is). They took me into three different rooms for three different sets of tests, and then into the examination room. Dr. Thai came in and talked with me about the tests and, lo and behold, despite my myriad medications and medical conditions, didn't try to sell me anything except the reading glasses I came to purchase. Told me my eyes looked healthy as could be, given my age and infirmities. Lemme tell ya, THAT was refreshing. Dr. Thai then escorted me to Camille, my optician. I told her what I was looking for -- and again, to my utter amazement, she gave me exactly what I wanted without trying to sell me a thing. Told me I could come back in an hour and the glasses would be ready. Here's where things get interesting. I went back, same day. Camille was still there. Tried on the glasses, and they were HORRIBLE. Couldn't see a thing. Camille didn't understand it. Dr. Thai came out, took me back into the examination room, and proceeded to give me ANOTHER examination. (Keep in mind, they're not charging me for any of this.) She couldn't understand it either -- the exam came out almost exactly the way it did the first time. She took me back out to Camille, who then contacted the individual that prepared the lenses -- and figured out that he had gotten one thing COMPLETELY backwards. Camille apologized profusely, told me she could have the glasses ready for me before the end of the day, and told me I'd get non-reflective lenses at no charge. I picked up the glasses the next day. I've been using them while I wrote this review. They're perfect. Exactly what I wanted. And for the price, I got (a) the glasses; (b) non-reflective lenses; and (c) two eye examinations by a licensed professional. You want some glasses? I got the place for ya. read more

Horrors!!! I scratched both lenses right through the middle of my glasses by dropping them on a stone floor. No, no, no, no. First, in this day and age, good customer service is very, very hard to come by. What is it with most people behind a counter nowadays? What do they benefit from being rude? The girl who checked me in was not friendly and did not smile at all. The guy who was in charge of getting glasses (eye technician, I think they are called) didn't even refer to me as sir. He called me, "man." Did I step into some stoner's optometrist haven? I'm the type of person that does not believe in giving my hard earned money to people who do not deserve it, so as soon as they began the exam, I walked out. I encourage everyone to do the same if you experience a similar encounter. What is rather unfortunate is that I really need new glasses. read more

Their optometrists are great, but the real stars of the show are the glasses professionals! They work really hard to help you find the right pair of glasses and are really honest with you about how a pair of glasses makes you look, regardless of the price. When I had a job a few years ago that was hard on my glasses, I took them in and they were always really sweet about readjusting them. I really love this place! read more

This was my second visit. I was greeted immediately and called back before I even sat down! The ladies at the front desk were super bubbly and their smiling faces made me feel welcome. I saw Virginia Mock for my exam and she was very thorough in explaining the images on the screen and helping make the best decision for selecting contact lenses that work for me. Really enjoyed my experiences here and will not go anywhere else. read more

Incredible experience and friendly staff! I went in looking for a new pair of glasses and wanted something that was unique/fashion forward. Nicholas was particularly helpful. He helped me find a pair of glasses shaped like an octagon. He claimed it was the style of 2020. I saw a similar pair in a magazine, so I guess he's right. They really know their stuff. Go here if ur looking to be stylish and able to see. Recommend for sure! read more

Dr. McQueen is great, but I'm on my SECOND pair of glasses that I cannot use. When I got my first pair, the prescription did have to be scaled back, but after a few minutes of wearing the glasses with the updated prescription, I realized something was still off and convinced myself that it had to do with the angle of the frames (or with the angle of how the lenses fit in the frame) and not with the actual prescription itself. I took a leap of faith and recently splurged on another set of frames, had the lenses put in by Innovative Eyecare, and am experiencing the same problem! I cannot wear the glasses. The prescription is the same (so I'm told, minus some possible astigmatism which was never diagnosed at Innovative Eyecare and therefore not in my new pair) as the one I have in my very old pair, but things don't look right. I haven't had time to go back to get my eyes re-checked (was told to do this), but I definitely need to get to the bottom of this! I desperately need to get new lenses as the coating on my existing pair is now peeling, but I can't have this happen a THIRD time! And I also can't afford to go through this again. Guess my question is, are there several manufacturers of lenses or just a few? It's just so weird that this has happened twice when I've never had a problem before. read more

In order of experience. Terrible frame selection, decided to just do something anyway because my existing lenses were in bad shape and I needed to get something done at least to hold me over till I had more time to get to a shop with more selection. Everything seemed to go well but then the glasses produced didn't work, the lens axis was too far off, they tried two more times to get that right but the glasses just would not work. I suspected the prescription was wrong and requested a new one, this one was different but the doc was a little snarky about it. After getting the new lenses again, once again the axis was off. I requested and received a refund on the frames and lenses only. After this I took even more time off work to go to a different shop who produced a completely different prescription, ordered new frames and lenses and they WORKED ON THE FIRST TRY as is normal. I was actually starting to think there was something wrong with my eyes since I've never had this much trouble before but no it was just a bad shop. I do commend them five stars on a proper fitting which most shops can't do these days but other than that it was a disaster and a hugely expensive waste of my time. Estimated cost of time lost for me is $2,000 over four visits there. What a waste. Stay Away. I've never experienced anything like this in a lifetime of wearing glasses. read more

McQueen and his merry band of optometrist associates have actually moved down to William Cannon off MoPac. The pros: No problem getting an appointment within a day of calling. Friendly staff. The cons: I didn't realize that if I didn't explicitly say I wanted a contact lens exam, they would only do a glasses exam. I had to return to get a contact lens fitting. The glasses fitters are very patient. After a few weeks, when my frame snapped while I was taking it off, they were very helpful, seeing it as the material defect it was, and getting a replacement from the manufacturer. Sylvia Beck has the best demeanor. read more

Wow I never even made it in the building the receptionist was so rude to me when trying to verify my appointment I just cancelled it.

I'm a big fan of Dr. McQueen. I have terrible eyesight, and might even be someone who needs a little extra consideration when it comes to eye exams. I first saw him when his office was much more convenient to me, but I followed him out to William Cannon when he moved because he is the best eye doctor I've ever known. He is patient, careful, quiet, and mindful of what he is doing. He always makes sure that I have what I need when I leave there. read more

This office is great! So great that on my last appointment I brought my friend, who needs a new eye doctor, just so she could witness how high tech the eye exams are, and how friendly everyone is. Also I brought her along to help me pick out a frame of glasses, but she was no help compared to the lady that worked there. I was looking some a particular type of frame, but finding the pair that complimented my face/personality and then all of a sudden...BAM! The glasses lady picked out THE glasses, like everything I wanted and more some. I friggin' love this place! Like, I recently moved to Pflugerville and I made the 30 minute drive to this office... because I love this place. Like I hope this getting across to you. read more

Forget your run of the mill optometry shop! Do yourself a favor and check this place out instead. All the equipment looks like it came from NASA. The staff was knowledgeable and nice. Normally I don't write reviews about eye care specialists, but IE has earned this one! When you walk in, the office girls are very nice and had my paperwork and insurance information ready to go without asking me a billion questions. After I filled out my one piece of paperwork I went to sit down and wait, this is when I noticed they had several iPads scattered around the office for the clients entertainment. I was impressed that they went into that great of detail with the clients in mind, at this point, I was already sold, and still the best was yet to come. When my name was called (which took all of 4 minutes, no waiting for long periods of time here, they understand and respect your time) the woman (unfortunately I cant remember her name, but she was amazing and deserves recognition too) took me into a series of three rooms with several different machines that looked into and took pictures of my eyes. This was the first time I have ever had my eyes examined this thoroughly, and everything explained too me in a way I could understand it, no doctor speak. Once I was out of the rooms I was immediately taken to Mrs. Collins examination room. This woman is my savior. Not only is she extremely nice, she is extremely thoroughly and helpful. Since my horrible experience at my last eye doctor whom put me in contacts that did not work for me and made me order lenses right away I could not afford to buy better lenses when those began to infect my eyes therefore prohibiting me from wearing contacts for over a year, and I hate glasses. But back to Mrs. Collins. We went through the process of "is this one better, or this one" and took a few more pictures. Then we talked about what happened with my last experience with contacts and she explained what happened to me and why I reacted to the bad contacts so negatively. She then took the extra step to check underneath my eye lid for tiny bumps which would cause problems with me and wearing contacts but found nothing wrong or abnormal. This extra step won me over. She thought of everything and checked everything to make sure I could still wear contacts comfortably with out damaging my eyes. This showed me she actually cares about her patients, this is rare these days. So after everything was said and done with she recommended me to a newer brand of lenses that are meant for people with sensitive and dry eyes AND turned me onto a new solution (Bio True, Which is AMAZING!!!) As I was putting my trial lenses in I immediately felt the difference. The lenses felt smooth and great. No uncomfort or dryness and when I looked into the mirror I could see my face again without glasses, I almost burst into tears of happiness. Once I calmed down, I sat back into the chair where Mrs. Collins went through and made sure I was seeing correctly (again, she is so thorough) and then told me something I have never been told before. She showed me pictures of inside my eye and told me I have no pigment in my eyes. I have what is called blonde pigmentation, its common in people with blonde hair, but yet rare enough that all the doctors wanted to see the pictures. What that means is I am sensitive to light which makes sense since I got headaches so badly with my glasses, I thought my prescription was bad, so when i go out I have to wear sunglasses. It has been 4 whole days with me wearing these contacts and I LOVE THEM!! So comfortable and BioTrue(C) is wonderful too. Thank you Mrs. Collins and Innovative Eyecare for giving me my contacts and confidence back!!! I will never go anywhere else! Regina read more

I've been wearing glasses since the third grade - and I'm now 62. This is by far the best office for eye care that I have ever used. I have seen three different doctors and have been so pleased every time. I would highly recommend anyone and everyone to try out Innovative Eyecare. You won't regret it. read more

Live very close to this place so decided to get a normal eye glasses exam. I inquired online and included my insurance information, they were able to authenticate my insurance and had all of that ready before I came in. Wait time wasn't too long, Dr. Priyal Desai was great and made this this appointment super smooth. This was a good experience for what I needed, which was just an eye exam. I wasn't a fan of their eye glasses selections, and the receptionists just didn't seem very professional, which I didn't mind but some people might. read more

My experience with this office so far has been reserved to the phone call I made to schedule my new eye appointment. I have been the client of another office for years but decided to give these guys a try because of the recommendation of a coworker. When I called they answered the phone and asked me to hold, I did. The woman came back on and I told her I'd like to schedule an eye exam. She asked me if I was a new or existing client and I responded with new. I was then placed on hold without a single word. I was speaking to her and then I heard hold music. Throughout the rest of the call she was extremely rude and short with me. I went back to work and told my coworker who was flabbergasted by their treatment of me. I will update my review if I don't cancel the appointment and just go to my regular guy. read more

I have been going here since 2008 and just thought I would post a review. When scheduling for my appointment today the person I talked to was so kind and patient while I figured out who I was with for insurance. Then today when I went in they had to call to check on something for insurance and Kelsey was so friendly and helpful when she did it. On my visit last year it was a hard time getting the right contact fit and the doctor told me to come back as many times as needed to make sure we got it right (ended up being 3 or 4 visits). Every time she insisted that she wanted to help me to get it right, she was so genuinely helpful, and in the end the contacts worked out perfectly. Anyway, just wanted to say how thankful I am that the office moved south. They doctors are wonderful and very knowledgeable. In addition the staff is absolutely great, every time I work with them they go out of their way to be helpful and are always really friendly. read more

I gave them a try, and I was very happy with the overall experience. They have a lot of technically advanced (from my opinion) machines to do all sorts of checks. They take pictures of your eyes and show you what they really look like. When it came time to pick out my frames, the girl helping me was super friendly and pointed me to several frames to try on, while keeping me away from the most expensive options. When I picked up the final product, they actually upgraded my lenses because the thinner ones fit better in the frames. Overall, very friendly/helpful staff, and great experience. read more

I had my most recent eye exam with Dr. Pak at Innovative Eyecare and can definitely say I feel I got a lot more information about my eyes from this visit that I've ever had from an optometrist or even an opthalmologist (of which I have seen several in the past few years). I requested an appointment during the weekend through their website for a specific (random) doctor on Tuesday, which is when they have extended evening hours. I received a call back Monday saying the doctor I had requested wouldn't be in that day, so I took an appointment with Dr. Pak. For me, being able to get an appointment the same week and after 5:30 pm on a weekday is a major bonus. I checked in at the desk and had a short wait before the tech brought me back to a room for a series of tests. She wiped down each of the machines in my presence with sanitizer, so it was nice to know everything was clean. I've never been through so many types of machines at an optometrist's office -- I'd say maybe there were about 10, including the typical glaucoma puff test as well as a few others to check out your macula, retina, how your eyes focus and track objects, etc. especially impressive is that they have a camera that can take pictures of your retina without your eyes being dilated. I'm not sure if it's as easy to see everything in there as full dilation, but when I saw Dr. Pak she was able to use the images to show me something that no other eye doctor has mentioned--apparently I have a benign mole in the skin behind my eye! Kinda awesome and also kinda creepy. She even emailed me the pictures. And now I know there's even more good reason for me to get UV-coated lenses and wear sunglasses. After all the machine tests, I was taken to the exam room to meet the doctor and have my prescription for glasses checked. She gave more explanation of the process than I usually get--including the fact that hitting the part where there's not much difference between "better one or better two" is a good thing, which relaxed me. Also, she gave me more details on how clear things should look without being too "bold" to make sure my prescription wasn't too strong (which has happened to me before). The visit was quick but gave me a lot of opportunity to ask questions, which was great for the lingering "WTF, eye mole?" moment. I also mentioned that I'm bothered by a couple of pesky floaters, so she gave my eyes an extra close look with a bright light and magnifier to verify that they are just floaters and relatively small. After answering all my questions, she led me back into the retail glasses area so an optician could help me with getting new lenses. They take VSP, so I only had to pay a copay and for some of the extra options. I've been here before just for new frames and lenses, and I think they have a pretty good selection of designer glasses that were fairly affordable with my insurance. I'd highly recommend this place, whether you need to get your eyes checked or to reframe your face. read more

I have extreme nearsightedness coupled with a high amount of astigmatism which means the only contact lenses I can wear are hard lenses. I originally went to Texas Eye Center to visit Dr. Marquis (ophthalmologist) for an eye problem and after clearing that up, he sent me to his colleague, Dr. Robin Watson (optometrist), to fit my contacts. For many years, she has done a fantastic job at fitting the lens and the prescription. In the beginning, she actually sent me to the local lab where the lenses are made! She is very professional, thorough, and easy to speak with about any questions or concerns. I've worn hard lenses for 32 years now and Dr. Watson is the best optometrist that I've had. read more
