I am so glad that I discovered Lone Star Eye. My search for the best optometrist in Austin is over. The facility and staff are truly outstanding. It's obvious that they care a lot and went above and beyond to help me. Dr. Chelsea Wahl was delightful. She answered all of my questions and gave me the most detailed consultation I've ever received anywhere. She even took the time to advise me on picking out some very stylish new frames. Even though it was the first time we'd ever met, I felt like I was being treated like a friend. I came away with a lot more knowledge about my eyes (and their future). Neal was instrumental in helping me pick out some new frames and lenses. I was also trying to get some new lenses put in my favorite old frames. Unfortunately the frames snapped at the lab when the technician was testing to put in the new lenses. I had signed a waiver acknowledging I knew this was a possibility and that the frames could be destroyed (they were well-worn). Neal reached out to me and offered to locate a new set of frames (a somewhat obscure handmade frame from Pasadena CA) and replace them free of charge! Needless to say: I am over the moon. They didn't have to do this, and they did it out of kindness and concern for me. To conclude my review I'd like to add a note about covid safety at Lone Star Eye. It's obvious they take the pandemic very seriously and take extra precautions to keep their customers safe. They strictly limit the number of people coming into the building. If you don't need to go inside, text them & the techs will meet you outside with your new contacts or glasses. I honestly think they don't allow more than one customer inside their luxurious and large facility at a time. I really appreciate their efforts to keep the community safe and healthy. Superior service!

My new glasses!!! Dr. Parker and staff are truly the BEST!!

Wow...why in the world would I want to write a review on getting new eye exam and glasses?? Well, when it's a awesome as Lone Star Eye was to me then how can I not?? Making the appointment was nice. Easy. They even have live people that will speak to you. I made the appointment with Zalyssa. Had the nicest chat and appointment made. She confirmed my new insurances for me. This made me happy to go in and see the optometrist. Dr. Parker was my Optometrist. After I checked in I moved to the waiting room. Their whole offices are new, and upscale with modern comfort. Christi came around , called my name and greeted me with genuine smile. She took me just around the corner to a row of machines and "thing-a-ma-gigs". I asked her which one was that horrible blow air in your eye, and she said, "Oh we don't do that anymore". I. sat in a rolling chair and rolled down one test/machine/video game after another. I called it the "Testing Buffet". No eye dilating. I didn't feel like I was being pushed along. In the HUGE exam room Dr. Parker came in. Fully masked of course, and yet through his eyes there was smiling. He was already knowledgeable abut my specific insurances. The conversation was easy. The eye chart and comparing things was short and so easy. He was engaging. Was not aloof. Genuine. I was and remain impressed. In being careful of costs, I brought in some old frames I used to wear and asked about better to reuse these vs. new frames. He never said 'No" . He did say that we can look at everything and whatever I decided they would make it work! It was really about what I wanted and not pushing things on me. The exam process was maybe 15 min long. I chatted longer and he was not in any hurry. In another section of the store I met the most awesome person named Rachel. As we used to say...and will full respect and honor she really was a "groovy chick". She listened to my tastes, and dislikes. We both walked through the gallery of frames and I chose a couple of frames...she chose 14. We then sat down and I made three piles...Yes, Maybe, No Way. And low and behold we were down to two fabulous choices and together we looked at pro's and cons. The check out was easy. Insurances were amazing. And within 5 days I got the text that my glasses were ready. And I LOVE them!! Shadazia assisted me in the return, verified things quickly, and I sat down for Rachel. She tightened, and did little things to make them fit right. Final word...I hope Dr. Parker, and his office has a "former patient to the front " program. I know one day soon he will be "full". And I hope with the great success they will have former patients won't have to wait 3-6 months for an exam. If that is the case...I WILL gladly wait...I can't imagine any place better than this. It was AMAZING!!!! Did I tell you I LOVE my new glasses!!!!

This place has 130 five star reviews out of 132? Pretty impressive. I guess I'm the 131st good review. Nintendo while you're waiting.

Still the best. Why waste words? I come here every January to update my glasses & contact prescriptions, and then Dr Packer & I talk about the newest restaurants in town. What more do I want? What's different this year is they moved to a bigger & better location, there's a cool coffeehouse on one end of this complex and a great steakhouse on the other, and if I'm driving down to Southwest Parkway for whatever, I'll make an afternoon of it. They didn't like the "vision insurance" company I have this year, but with my regular medical it was a $40 copay, and I pay an extra $40 for the optional digital dilater. I like the tech. To each his own. This year Dr Packer gave me a sample of new contacts that don't require reading glasses, but I haven't tried them yet, I'm going through a Warby Parker phase at the moment. I did try Carve at his recommendation, and that was great, and I need to write it up. And that's about it. See you next year. No really - see you, like literally.

Dr Packer was great and very thorough. The staff was engaging, kind and efficient. Loved the office and the frames they had available.

I have a pretty terrible prescription with a weird astigmatism and Dr Casey is really good about trying to find options that will work for me.

I was overdue for an eye doctor visit. I found Look + See by searching through my insurance and browsing the yelp reviews. This location is super convenient to me too. I scheduled my appointment online and filled out my paperwork in advance. The store is appointment only, so you ring the bell to enter. The showroom of glasses is a much bigger variety than I've seen other places. They have so many cool, unique, and artistic handmade frames. I loved browsing the glasses and sunglasses. These are one of a kind glasses you will not find anywhere else. The appointment was extremely thorough. I have never had virtual reality goggles on at an eye doctor! They definitely have the newest technology. I also had to pay for an image of my eyeball, which I was happy to do since I was interested. The doctor explained they can see things like high blood pressure based on the veins behind your eyeballs. My eyes were good to go! I got my updated prescription and paid for that eye photograph that wasn't covered by insurance. I decided to get my updated frames online so they'd be covered by my vision stipend toward frames since the ones in the store were all so much more. I would definitely get cool glasses here if I wore them all the time, but since they are mostly used when I am just by myself on the computer or driving, I decided to pass this time. Super easy and no added fees. Great customer service and friendly doctor. I plan on going back for my yearly check ups!

And unless my memory is failing, his father (Dr. Mitchel Wong) treated my mother's cataracts in the 1980s. I have always been impressed by the state-of-the-art skills and equipment Austin Eye maintains. I'm also impressed that the Wongs have chosen to share their expertise by endowing an eye institute at the University of Texas at Austin. My most recent personal experience with Austin Eye was surgery for lens replacement. While some have derided the facility on Bee Caves Rd as factory-like, I would counter that with the fact that consistent good practices yield consistently good results. I felt well cared for throughout the process, and the results (my excellent recovery and visual acuity) speak for themselves. In the event there had been any problems, I was given Dr. Wong's direct cell number and email. The Austin Eye facility is beautiful, modern, and well-maintained. The same may be said of the older location along Jollyville Rd. I highly recommend Austin Eye for their expertise, state-of-the-art equipment set, and very positive and helpful office staff.

Post-op eye drops were sent home with me which saved a trip to the pharmacy, giving caregivers a break. Please don't hesitate to see for yourself just how perfect and pleasant Austin Eye is. (My surgery was bilateral cataract removal with lens replacement, for the record.)

It's a win, win! Most of their frames are only $95, including lenses. Others go up to &175, which is still affordable. Today I went in for my yearly eye exam and to pick out a new pair of glasses. They took me right on time and gave me the eye exam, which was covered under my insurance. The optician was friendly and personable. Unfortunately, the note in my insurance said that I had already used my eyeglass allowance.and was not eligible for a new pair until December. This was a problem with my insurance, and they urged me to call for resolution. So this time I did not choose a new pair, which is always a daunting task to choose from their wide variety of attractive frames. In the past, they've had a lot of patience helping me decide. I took advantage of their fun Photo Booth, which takes 3 shots against a colorful background. Warby Parker is always a pleasant shopping experience. Their eyewear consultants are always helpful, assisting in picking out frames; I'm usually very indecisive and need their expert guidance in choosing the best look. Before I left, Nadia the salesperson offered to clean my glasses (which really needed it!), and they tightened the frames. So I felt like I had a new pair of glasses!

They don't greet you or direct you to anywhere. You go to information, they look at you, don't respond, and actually go help others. So, the reviews criticizing Warby Parker are correct. The optometrist was nice and did her job. They schedule you an appointment for next year. I like that you get a digital copy of your prescription which because of exorbitant prices I took the rx elsewhere. It's not a bad location, easy to get to. I still think Austin did us dirty by charging for parking in SoCo. Not Warby Parker's fault thought.
