My husband and I go to this eye care place bc we feel listened to and cared for by Dr Park. It's probably best to use the past tense now. The last time I visited I had a different doctor whose last name was Tran. She had great Google reviews but my experience with her told me a different story. She came across as she wanted to get rid of us and had very poor communication skills including listening or delivering messages. Very impatient, disrespectful, and rude. Just plain unprofessional. No apology in fact it is suggested I'm to blame. "Unfortunately, when there is a significant discrepancy between the information provided during booking and what is communicated during the examination, it compromises our ability to deliver the agreed-upon service." So Dr. Catherine is doing some back pedaling here. Not a problem; she didn't need to be rude to me while I was in her office. It cost me a half day of work so she could back out of an appointment she and I have concluded without incident in the past. Once I got back into the waiting area I spoke with Emily about what happened and Dr. Catherine appeared from behind the wall and asked me to leave. Miraculously, she had regained her composure by then. So evidently she had a pretty good idea some less-than-complimentary words were being uttered concerning her behavior. Why would she? Avoid Dr. Catherine. So just to be clear, the reason Dr. Catherine asked me to leave was because she didn't want Emily to have a rundown of what had just happened during the appointment. Well now just about anyone who is interested can have a rundown of that encounter, including Emily, her co workers, Dr. Catherine's family, and potential customers. Might have been a better idea to just leave it be, or better yet, do the appointed service and move on. read more

This place is amazing. Dr Tran gave me the literally the best medical experience of my life. It typically isn't ideal when a doctor is having fun because things are weird, but that's what was the case here, but we got to an excellent solution. She even wanted me to follow up with a message in a few months because she was genuinely interested in me, my vision, and if things were better for me. I see some people mentioning that the glasses are expensive and they want you to buy frames and... yeah... they are running a business. When I mentioned that I wanted to buy frames elsewhere and bring them in, they were totally fine with that and weren't pushy at all. But the frames brands they offer are really beautiful and high quality. There's no reason not to buy from them if they have what you want. Finally, the interior design is beautiful and if whoever designed it (I believe one of the other doctors) ever wants to start a side business and design my home, I would gladly take it. I wouldn't make a medical decision on them having nice chairs, but it was nice! read more

Eye Joy! Truly joyous to the eyes! Such an aesthetically pleasing place this is! What makes this place more beautiful is the service by the staff and the doctors. Dr. Le and Dr. Park are both brilliant in their communication and explaining details about eye health. Visiting Dr. Tran has improved my life ten-fold. Going in, I knew I had a condition where my eyes don't work together which causes annoying headaches after a long day of working at a screen. I was told by a previous doctor that vision therapy classes were the only way to help my condition and I did not have great success keeping frequent appointments that were expensive and didn't really work for me. I was blown away when Dr. Tran not only knew exactly what condition I had (convergence insufficiency), but told me about a new technology in glasses that could help me INSTANTLY with no classes. She got me fitted for Neurolens glasses and I will never go back to anything else. These glasses have prism technology that focuses both eyes on the same point so that they can work together - no more losing my place every time I look from one screen to the other. No more re-reading paragraphs in books because I lose my place every 2 minutes. And most importantly - I've had these glasses for over a year and NO MORE HEADACHES after working at my computer all day! I do research and data analysis for a living so being able to sit and read at my computer is a must. My only complaint is that now I get fewer steps in because I can sit and focus on my work and don't feel the urge to get up 100 times (yes vision issues can share a lot of the same symptoms as ADHD and for some reason we do zero vision testing in schools - just eye sight - I have 20/20 corrected eyesight in each eye, but my vision issue -eyes not working together- would have never been picked up in a routine eye exam). Sadly, like many things that work and actually make us feel better - insurance does not yet cover effective treatment for vision issues like convergence insufficiency to include Neurolens. However, these glasses were worth every penny. HSA money can also be used to cover these, which is incredibly helpful. I am eternally grateful to have met Dr. Tran. I've never met anyone more knowledgeable on vision issues and she is 100% the kindest doctor. She never appears to be in a rush and actually listens to what you say. She takes the time to explain everything, which a nerd like me appreciates. I am so thankful that she chooses to work in a practice that can offer Neurolens and that she made this technology available to me. Game changer! read more

While Optometry and Opthamology are, for the most part, "volume based" medical practices, I'm always amazed at the generosity of time and patience Dr. Le shows in fine tuning my prescription to squeeze as much focus and performance out of my aging eyes. Even though it'd be more profitable to move me through quicker and begin treating the next patient, she prioritizes getting the best result over short-term profits. This may explain their obsession with cancellations--so paranoid about folks making the first move that they will preemptively cancel your appointment if you don't *confirm* the appointment you already made via phone through both email *and* text. Since when is appointment etiquette: guilty until proven innocent? Oh and I've never heard of a healthcare provider, whether it be my dentist, physician, or eye doc charge *$50* for cancellations within 48 hours. There shouldn't be one to begin with (things happen and flexibility is human) but even if there is one - that is way severe in terms of fee and lead time. The front desk staff may be the minions executing the egregious policies and behaviors but I ultimately blame the owner/dr. for creating such a cutthroat culture that prioritizes their business over patient care. Annual eye doc appointments are usually standard, non-stressful affairs but if you're looking for more bureaucracy and headaches in your life, EyeJoy is the place for you! read more

I've been going to Dr. Park for many years. She is outstanding and kind. I recently saw Dr. Le who is also excellent. There was some awkwardness due to the mask requirement, which makes it difficult to try on frames. I was briefly allowed to take it off, but during conversation with the salesperson, she became visibly uncomfortable and asked me to put my mask back on. Before COVID, I would have given EyeJoy very high marks. I'm a fan of Dr. Park and the staff was very good. That being said, with COVID, they are requiring all their existing patients to fill our a extensive online form before an appointment. I understand they are trying to reduce the wait time within the office and protect the staff from COVID; however, it takes ten to fifteen minutes just to fill out all the required forms before arriving. Right now, the paperwork barrier to entry isn't worth seeing Dr. Park. Once COVID is in the rear view mirror or this policy is changed, I might try to go back. Until then, I will be going elsewhere for my medical needs. read more

I had Lasik a couple years ago, I have 20/20 since then, but I have difficulty in low light situations. I didn't know where to go, or if there was an eye doctor that specialized in post-lasik. Probably not. When I arrived, I wasn't aware there was a new doctor. I had a good experience with Dr.Park and almost re-scheduled when I found out it wasn't going to be Dr.Park I was seeing. You know how people get! We know what we like, and we want to stick to it. But I decided to see Dr.Le anyway, because she's a fresh set of eyes, all puns intended! First of all, COVID protocols are excellent here. I am very pleased to see the constant disinfecting of hands, and surfaces. In this day and age, it's very easy to differentiate an office that cares about their staff and patients simply by observing their disinfection protocol. Eyejoy gets 5 stars in that department. The gentleman that helped me with the pre-exam and the machines was very professional. Dr.Le was very sweet, explained things clearly in a way I understood, and took time to actually listen to me (also very difficult in a time where health care staffing is short, compared to the floods of patients they must receive). I didn't feel rushed, and I felt all my questions were answered. And I had a lot. Because I had lasik and didn't think I'd need glasses again. It will be 2 weeks until I get my new glasses. The girl who helped me measure for my glasses (using my old frames from them) was also very helpful. Wow, what a pleasant experience, 5 years since my last visit! I found out Dr.Le joined the practice about a year ago. For her being new to the practice, I want to say kudos to Dr.Park. She found a great fit, it's not easy! Again, especially during Covid. I feel like the doctors here are top notch and helpful and always have the most professional and comfortable demeanor. I look forward to seeing how the new glasses will help me with my night vision. I love love loved my doctor. She was so incredibly sweet and really took the time out to make me feel heard. The technician who did my initial testing was really sweet too. I asked her to send me a copy of the picture we took of my eye and she followed through the next day! I have to sign a release and I haven't done that yet but that's on me. It was really awesome to have her remember and reach out to me. The store itself is just so beautiful and trendy and they have refreshments for you to enjoy while you wait. The parking was pretty ample too, even considering the fact that I'm an awful driver. The only negative I have to say is that they sell fairly expensive frames and when it came time for me to checkout, the gentleman helping me made me feel kind of rushed and ignored. He was kind, just not super helpful. I'm assuming because it was time to close the shop. In the end I definitely felt like it was best to buy my frames somewhere else. I lost an eye in high school and have had a lifetime of seeing ophthalmologists and optometrists. Dr. Park gave me the best, friendliest, and most thorough eye exam I have ever had. It never felt rushed, she answered my questions thoughtfully and thoroughly without me feeling like she was hurrying to the next patient. The sales staff are also fantastic, they were very patient as I tried on nearly every frame on one side of the store. They continued offering suggestions and helping me narrow down my "maybe" pile, even after I had been there for 30 minutes trying on frame after frame. I ended up buying two pairs of glasses. They handled the insurance expertly and when I emailed with a concern after my visit, I got a call back from Dr. Park within hours. I also received a handwritten note from Dr. Park thanking me for bringing my issue to their attention. What a great place! The store has thorough COVID procedures in place and everything from checking in, to the exam, to trying on frames felt entirely safe and clean; this will be my doctor and my eyeglasses shop for as long as I am here. The shop wasn't busy but I waited about 5 -10 minutes before anyone acknowledged I was there. Didn't seem interested in making a sale, preoccupied and not terribly knowledgeable or friendly; not the kind of attention I expect when dropping a couple grand on designer frames. This was the BEST experience I've ever had at an optometrist! I came in for a yearly exam. The staff were super professional over the phone and in person. I was able to get an appointment within two days of my request. The office is very clean and chic, with a nice sitting area and they even provide complimentary coffee, drinks and snacks while you wait. Dr. Park was very personable and professional. Best of all, she didn't try to sell me on products or services I didn't need. I don't wear glasses, and have 20/20 vision, but in the past I've had optometrists recommend "light prescription" reading glasses which I never needed...just so they could make a sale. I cannot recommend EyeJoy enough. If you're searching for a professional exam, new frames, or just shopping around, this is the place for you. Their staff, equipment and selection are excellent all around. By far the best examination and overall experience I have ever had. I called and made an appointment one day early, and came in on a Saturday (HUGE plus being open on Saturdays). I was taking the pre-test computer tests with Hong (Dr. Park's husband and office manager) immediately after I filled out the paperwork. Their testing equipment was all state-of-the-art, clean and well taken care of. It's also nice to do these tests in a well-lit room that was clean and uncluttered. After the pre-test stuff (about 5 minutes), I was immediately in the exam room with Dr. Park. She got through the test quickly, didn't bother with unnecessary steps and provided feedback throughout. If you have kids or are skittish yourself about the exam, EyeJoy is the perfect place for you, as you feel incredibly at-ease. Although it was quick, the exam was incredibly thorough, and Dr. Park even found a small issue that other optometrists had missed. After getting the exam, I was interested in new glasses. Although their one-wall collection seems small, it's the best selection of glasses I have ever seen. All the frames were very nice, and although slightly more expensive than LensCrafters, all great quality and fashionable. I actually ended up getting standard eyeglasses as well as prescription sun. Hong spent about 15 minutes with my wife and I working out the insurance costs and how to break everything down to save the most money. They definitely did not need to do this, but he helped save us about $50 by taking his own time to sit down with us. It was an excellent service. My glasses arrived about a week later, in perfect condition. Every part of my experience with EyeJoy was easy, quick and exceptional. I'll be back in a heartbeat. read more

Absolutely wonderful experience this morning! I first visited a year ago to find some unique eyeglass frames and found the perfect pink pair with the help of the friendly staff. When it came time to get my prescription renewed I knew I'd be sure to go back here. Today was the easiest appointment in my 20 years of eye doctor appointments. I was running late and they were really accommodating. They had a bar of snacks and beverages to choose from while I filled out my paperwork. Each step in the eye tests was so easy and almost oddly relaxing. The Doctor was wonderful and explained things I had never had a Doctor explain previously. My prescription feels great and at check out they made sure to let me know about any coupons and rebates for the contact lenses. Couldn't recommend more highly! Much thanks to Dr. Park I finally got the correct contact lenses prescription! For 20+ years I have been unable to find good contact lenses that fit and therefore couldn't wear regular sunglasses to protect my eyes. It was very nice of the office to insist on a follow up appointment to ensure the contacts are a good fit. Dr Park was careful to check that my eyes reacted ok with the new contact lenses before giving me the prescription. I also appreciate the office staff who worked hard to see if my insurance would pay for the eye exam (which I knew would not cover much of anything) and also got me sets of trial contact lenses. Since I have to pay out of pocket for vision exams almost everywhere except at big box vision centers, seeing Dr. Park is worth every penny. I love their modern office set up, too. The exam rooms are well lit and nicely decorated. It made for a pleasant experience. Now I wished I had moved to Austin sooner and found Dr. Park. I would definitely recommend her services.
