Dr Saulny
Laura C.

Dr. Saulny and his Staff made my son feel very confident about a minor eye surgery. The doctor is likely the best in the State. I trust the Doctor to take his time and do incredible work without a hitch. He also does lasik, Optimologist, corrective vision, cataracts and more. One stop shop with incredible results.

The man the myth the legend.pain free surgery every time and the best work world wide.(pain free) and very very kind

Would not recommend to Friends or Family. I was referred by the VA. Took 2 months to call me back to setup an appointment.

Based solely on Michelle's…read morereview I checked out the training of Dr. Lindsey and found we both attended the same med school. That was enough for me. I scheduled an appointment (I was able to be seen the next day) and the visit went smoothly. The office staff was friendly and efficient, and Dr. Lindsey was delightful. Every good thing Michelle said about Dr. Lindsey was true for me, too. We had a good time chatting about faculty we knew in common. My fears of an eye infection were groundless (my discomfort was most likely due to allergies so she gave me some eyedrops). I had her do a full refraction and eye exam since I was already there. She found my current eyeglass prescription was fine and didn't need to be changed, and that my eyes were perfectly healthy (she said they were likely the healthiest she'd see all day). I'll see her again in a year, and look forward to it. If you need an ophthalmologist who is well-trained in diseases of the eye as well as the normal eyeglass and contact lens fitting, then I recommend Dr. Lindsey. Other physicians who are members of the group practice (The Eye Institute of Austin) appear to be equally stellar in their pedigrees.

She listens well and proposes workable solutions for every little complaint - like loading me up with samples of various eye drops to try with my finicky gas permeable lenses. Her staff is excellent, as well, and for as long as I've been seeing her, she's had the same assistant, the same optometrist, the same contact lens expert - the longevity in this office just says something. Also, she hates waiting at the doctor's office, so she works hard to stay on schedule, which I so appreciate. Doctors who realize that their patients' time is valuable, too, are much too rare. I'd recommend Dr. Lindsey without reservation.

They…read moredid not follow BVD protocols for my treatment, limiting my exercises "in clinic" and "at home." For over 5 months I did the most basic eye chart and computer type exercises that were completely ineffective for my condition. And I shared this with the therapists often. Even when I asked for harder more motion based, vestibular type exercises, they delayed them and even told me there was no benefit in doing more than 3x "at home" exercises a week and not to exceed 10 minutes each session. This is in direct conflict with BVD protocol and going at this pace would have likely never produced results. After talking to other adults that recovered from BVD and other VT clinics, I definitely felt a change was needed and I'm very glad I did. I've seen better improvement in 3 weeks at my new clinic than I ever did at OCVT in over 7 months and $4300 spent. In short, OCVT really gave me the impression that my recovery was second to them keeping me as a client long term.

In short, there have been multiple errors over many months, and I am not seeing LSE own and correct these errors in a reasonable way. I see from other reviews that errors and money grabs are a common theme here. (1) We discussed a specific contact lens Rx in the office, and then the wrong contacts lenses were ordered. When I attempted to reorder, it took months and multiple calls to receive the correct lenses. (2) When I went to fill my glasses Rx, I realized it was the wrong Rx. I called them to correct it, and they said since 60 days had passed, I would need to come back in and pay another $75. I was never even handed a copy of the Rx at the appointment, otherwise I would have realized the error on the spot, and we could have fixed it. They attempted to fix it by putting a random "Add" on the glasses, but I don't use reading glasses. I have asked them to own and correct this error, but they have dug in their heels on charging me another $75. I can't get a new - and correct - Rx for that elsewhere. Thankfully I noticed the error, and then the second error with the Add, or I would have been out hundreds of dollars on glasses I couldn't use.

I'm also impressed that the Wongs have chosen to share their expertise by endowing an eye institute at the University of Texas at Austin. My most recent personal experience with Austin Eye was surgery for lens replacement. While some have derided the facility on Bee Caves Rd as factory-like, I would counter that with the fact that consistent good practices yield consistently good results. I felt well cared for throughout the process, and the results (my excellent recovery and visual acuity) speak for themselves. In the event there had been any problems, I was given Dr. Wong's direct cell number and email. The Austin Eye facility is beautiful, modern, and well-maintained. The same may be said of the older location along Jollyville Rd. I highly recommend Austin Eye for their expertise, state-of-the-art equipment set, and very positive and helpful office staff.

Unfortunately, what I expected to be a simple eye exam turned into a frustrating and unprofessional experience. When I booked my appointment, I specifically stated that I wanted **traditional pupil dilation**, not photo imaging. When I arrived for my 5pm appointment, I was told I had "signed up" for the $50 photo imaging instead -- which is **not covered by insurance**. I explained that I never agreed to this, but the staff told me that because I had a 5pm appointment, dilation would "run the doctor over schedule." That is not my responsibility, and it felt like pressure to accept an unnecessary upsell. From that point on, the experience felt rushed. The exam did not feel thorough, and I left feeling uncertain about the accuracy of my prescription. Sure enough, when I compared my results to last year's prescription, this year's exam claimed my vision had *improved* -- despite the fact that I came in specifically because my vision has felt worse. That raised major red flags about the quality of the exam. On top of this, the office aggressively pushed expensive add-ons -- from luxury frames costing thousands of dollars to lens upgrades -- which felt more like a sales floor than a medical practice. I later learned my coworker visited the same office the same day and had a similarly uncomfortable experience. We both work in the medical field, and we agreed this is not how patients should be treated. I called to speak with the manager afterward. No apology. No offer to re-check the exam. No attempt to resolve the situation. I've since spent over an hour on the phone with my insurance to arrange a second opinion elsewhere. If you're looking for patient-centered care and a thorough exam, I'd recommend going somewhere else.
