I found Bee Cave Vision Center doing a local search in Maps. I just needed a normal checkup because it had been more than a year. The female doctor was very nice and honest, which was especially refreshing. Apparently my vision isn't impaired enough to require glasses, but if I wanted them, then of course they could fill the prescription in their office. I think we would all agree that the gem of their office is the woman who assists with ordering glasses. She is so friendly and charming and clearly loves her job. It was such a delight working with her. I am happy with the fit and her recommendations based upon my face shape and size. I am happy to have found a good optometrist to make sure my vision is 20/20! read more

An establishment like this always has two sides - the more important medical side (i.e. - the quality of care, the diligence, the skill of the physician) and the necessary business side. BCVS is one of the best medical vision centers I've encountered, but the business side raises some concerns. What works: - State of the art imaging technology allows the doctors to walk through the specifics of diagnoses in a way that is reassuring and educational - Prescriptions my family have gotten improved upon the accuracy of prior prescriptions from other vision centers. - As someone with higher risk for glaucoma, the ability to track eye pressure without going to a separate opthalmologist is a big plus. - The doctor has seen us very close to our appointment times. - Dr. Dobson is engaging and has a good 'chair-side' manner - The office itself is quite comfortable, with typically friendly staff. What doesn't work: - BCVS showed a concerning lapse in integrity in dealing with insurance policy coverage with my family. After professing our strong belief that certain things (new glasses for this year, lenses, etc.) would not be covered and that we were holding off for now, we were upsold into several items, being assured by the staff that we would be 100% covered on both, that we would have only the co-pay. When the multi-hundred dollar bill came from the office, BCVS was unwilling to consider that they had misled us and all but accused my wife of lying. It is unfortunate for their part that both she and I were told the same thing on multiple occasions. They would not budge on the bill and took no responsibility for their lapse in ethics. Excellent practitioners like Dr. Dobson must realize that the 'business' part of their business is important too. read more

What a fantastic experience I had at BCVC. With a recent family history of "issues" with eyes, I was nervous about my appointment. Dr. Dobson did a great job putting my mind at ease, answering all my questions, and getting my prescription up-to-date! As if that's not enough.... Holy cow! Wait until you meet Jerry! The office is run efficiently and the staff is always friendly. I never have had to wait and the staff checks on your insurance ahead of time (if you provide them with your information), so you know what will be covered and how much you'll be paying out-of-pocket. I like that they offer Optomap Retinal Imaging vs. dilating your eyes, and all their equipment appears to be the latest and greatest in technology. The optometrist, Brad Dobson, is very pleasant, and takes his time with providing helpful explanations of results, options and eye care tips. read more

My daughter and I have been going to Dr. Dobson for probably 15 years. He's a fantastic doctor, friendly, and kind. Today, the start of Labor Day weekend, my daughter had an eye problem, and even though Gayle told me he was leaving the office, he ended up staying to see her, and thank goodness he did. I made an appointment last week. Just showed up and there is no record of my appointment. No effort was made to rectify the situation. Very frustrating. It is also very hard to see. Fairly small sign that reads "Vision Center" that is obstructed by a tree. Drove by many times without seeing it. I am changing my one star review to a four because the receptionist called me later in the day to say they had found my file. She apologized for the mix up and offered to make a new appointment ASAP. I'm very happy with BCVC. My husband and I have been patients here for 4+ years. We both had Lasik 10+ years ago but need regular check-ups and a prescription due to aging (getting old is a bitch) and daily computer usage. I have recently moved to Bee Cave and wanted to find a good Eye Doctor, What a mistake coming here. I have never experienced such horrible Customer Service in my life. I had a question about contacts that i need and she started to ask me Questions that i would have no idea about i am not a Doctor, At that moment my Daughter called me and i had to answer my cell phone , The phone call lasted about 20 Seconds and when i got off, She looked at me as if I bothered her and started to treat me rudely. Her tone of voice was rude and i knew she had no intentions on wanting to offer me any help. At that point, I felt very uncomfortable and couldnt get out of there fast enough. Dr Brad Dobson is a great eye doctor. He is very thorough and has modern up-to-date equipment for eye testing, etc... My whole family has been going to his office for the last 5 years. We recently took out vision insurance, and unfortunately Dr Dobson is not on the plan, but that will not stop us from going there. He is that good. read more

We have been "seeing" Dr. Dobson since 2004. Dr. Dobson keeps up with new technology and is very informative. He is very comfortable to be around and takes his time to explain any changes in our vision and what we will be looking for if any deteriorating was to occur. Bee Cave Vision Center is TERRIFIC! I was visiting relatives in Barton Creek and discovered that I had a torn left contact lens. I checked my back-up lenses and found that I had four extra right lenses, but no left lens. While my daughter was in H.E.B. grocery shopping, I sat in the car and began searching on my iPad for nearby optical centers. The first one that came up was Bee Cave Vision Center. I called, and yes, they had my particular and very Uncommon lens right in stock! When I asked for the location of Bee Cave Optical (afraid that I would have to spend considerable time driving around) I was informed that they were only about 100 yards from where I was parked! So I called the office of my doctor in California, they faxed my prescription to Bee Cave Optical, and I just walked over to their office and picked it up! But it gets better! When I took out my wallet to pay, they said, "Oh, no charge!" This is real customer service! Thank you, Bee Cave Optical for making what could have been an extremely difficult situation become very easy! read more

Love this place for my eye care. Dr. Dobson is professional yet very down to earth, amswers questions and never talks down to you, explains as much or as little as you want to know (i find some people don't really want to know about the amazing eye!) The office staff is great, friendly, apologetic if I have to wait, and thorough. The woman who does the glasses/contact orders is patient and helpful (she will let you browse on your own or will make suggestions if that's what you prefer). I like the small size of this office far far more than the cold vision centers where you are little more than a 15-minute appointment. I'd give more stars if I could. read more

I decided to have my first eye exam in more than ten years, and I went to Bee Cave Vision Center on the recommendation of the rest of my family, all of whom have been patients there. I can see why they were so strong in their endorsement. Dr. Dobson seems highly competent and thorough, and he'll patiently answer your questions. Having not had an eye exam for so long, I was expecting some advances in the equipment, but I thoroughly impressed with BCVC's state-of-the-art equipment. I can't say enough about BCVC's optician, Jerry Ressling. Jerry really knows his stuff and will make sure your glasses not only work the way they're supposed to but also look good on you. The office staff is untrained - no one knows what they are doing. Making an appointment is even hard for them. Dr. Dobson is rarely in the office - three times I've had questions for him because his staff couldn't answer them and three times I'm he is out of the office. The last time I was told "he is a very busy man" - I guess too busy to provide basic service to his patients. read more
