Making an appointment is easy, and they are open on Saturdays. The doctor is very approachable and treats patients in a relaxed manner. Additionally, their follow-up care is excellent. The front desk staff has remained consistent during the two years I have been visiting, and they are very friendly and helpful. There is plenty of parking in the Galleria area. I first contacted Eyecare Essentials and made an apt. Many good reviews on Yelp so I was happy to see I was confident enough to visit this location. As I entered I was greeted by the desk representative. Very friendly then greeted by the Doctor she is gifted on knowledge eased my fear and even gave me a sample for my eye condition. This place is amazing and I highly recommend it. Dr. Barit was recommended to me by a friend and he did not disappoint. The staff is very friendly and you don't have to spend forever in the waiting room when you arrive for your appointment. I.e. he's on time! Which is great for a doctor. He spends the time with you to understand your needs and has all the latest equipment. He also is very helpful with contact recommendations and gives you multiple samples to try out different brands. Best part is that he even has Saturday hours! That seems unreal for a doctor and is much appreciated. I highly recommend his office if ever looking for a new optometrist. My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Barit for several years. The office is tucked away on the other side of the Hill Country Galleria. Right next to Ulta/Marshalls/BestBuy area. The chocolate colored floors make the space warm and trendy. The ladies up front are friendly and helpful. Dr. Barit is professional and straight forward. He gets us in and out of our appointment quick and easily. They carry a fair amount of frames, nothing too crazy to the point where you're sick of trying on every single one. From what I remember they have Kate Spade, Gucci, Fossil, RayBan, Banana Republic, Jimmy Choo, MK, and some crazy line that is made of titanium. The display has a 5lb weight hanging off of it to show the durability. oooo and aaaaaaah. They also have sunglasses. Frames take longer than I'd like about a 1-1.5 weeks. I don't know what the average time is because I've been coming here for so long that's the norm for us. Today we discovered they include a built-in insurance for any frames/lens that get damaged. While the service was good, people were pleasant, etc. I am very disappointed in my visit. After calling to make an appt and giving my insurance information over the phone I came today for eye exams. After waiting, doing paperwork and then our exams they tell us they don't take our insurance. Insurance information I gave them 5 days ago. So we were charged $202 for two eye exams. After a "discount" for being out of network. She did inform me that I was justly confused about the insurance coverage because while they take United Healthcare medical insurance they don't take their vision insurance. Despite me telling her I had UnitedHealth care she never mentioned until the services were complete that they don't take their vision insurance. I try to be open minded and give people a chance to make a mistake, but first, I've never paid that much for an eye exam. Second I came on here and find a coupon for a $68 eye exam that they could have given us since it appears they just bamboozled me out of money. They are nice but it's clear their priorities are money and not customer service or satisfaction. Buyer beware, double and triple check your insurance information!!!!!! read more

I've had glasses since I was two. Eye exams have typically been a long, drawn out process of, "One.... or two?" "Uh, can I see one again? Okay, now two. One?........aaaand two? Are these the same one? They both look awful." Followed by feedback from the doctor about my perfectionism and frightening attention to detail, which typically came after my third return trip for adjustments to my prescription. DOESN'T HAPPEN WITH DR. BARIT. We blow through the exam because he can easily translate my responses into a medical diagnosis. His prescriptions have always been SPOT ON, requiring no further adjustments. And he has such a thorough knowledge of the latest advances in eye care, that he has me trying things that might improve the quality and comfort of my vision, without fail. I don't even notice my astigmatism anymore, I enjoy wearing my contacts, my eyes are no longer dry, and his selection of frames is amazing (I found three that actually looked good on me in less than half an hour.). I moved this year, and visited Dr. Barit on my vacation back to Austin, because he has no equal based on my 37 years of experience. So grateful. read more

I had a great experience at eyecare essentials! The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was clean and modern. I always felt rushed at other offices, but doctor Barit spent more time with me than any other eye doctor has before. I had a chair massage while I was getting my eyes dialated - what a bonus. The cost of my contacts was lower with eyecare essentials than 1800 contacts, to top it off they prepared my rebate form for me to get some extra cash.
