The office is very clean and modern and they had some advanced eye screening technology that I had never used before. It saddens me to have to update my review, but my last few experiences warrant the feedback. While my previous visits have not been ideal, the front staff is less than courteous or I'm left waiting longer than anticipated, my visit on Friday of this past week is the straw on an already strained camels back. My appointment is at 2, as professional courtesy I arrive 10 minutes early in case there's paperwork. Again the front staff is less than enthusiastic about having to be there, but that's not new. I check in and take a seat and wait...and wait.... At 25 later I ask for a status update and they say "soon". I sit, and I wait....at 2:45 I'm finally brought into the back room, no apologies or explanations. I again sit and wait.....until 3. 1 full hour after my appointment, no one has come to update me. At this point I get up, let the front desk know I'm heading out and like deer in headlights they just stare. About 1 hour after that, the dr calls to apologize and states she's been running late all day! How is this courteous to your customers? If you have been running late all day by over one hour why not call your customers and give them the option of coming in a little later? Why not even mention it at check in? Like you, I also have a business to run and a delay of over 1 hour should be proactively addressed. As this business continues to trend down, it is obvious long term clients (6 years, started going here in 2015 per my previous review) are not worth keeping. read more

Marvelous Optometrist office. I took my grandson here a few months ago, he wanted to try contact lenses. After a quick check, they let me know that the weakest lenses would be too strong for his eyes. Nor did they charge me for the visit. I went this week for my own annual check up. They gave me a very thorough, excellent exam. The best part was that they have a machine that takes a picture of my retina. It cost $39 extra but was worth it because I didn't have to get my eyes dilated, which I hate (and which leaves me not able to do anything for a couple of hours). I had a slight change in my contact lens prescription. I'm going to wear the sample pair they gave me for a few days to make sure I'm happy, then I can order some lenses. They took their time with me, explaining everything as we went along. I'm very pleased and will be using Eye Tech from now on. read more

I moved away from Austin to San Antonio (not by choice) and subsequently away from Dr. Lamei. I decided to try my luck down in San Antonio with another optometrist and had one of the most traumatic medical experiences of my life. I decided I needed Dr. Lamei back in my life and won't see anyone else again no matter how far I have to drive. She is very technically skilled and explains everything thoroughly, and has incredible bedside manner. Her office is also up to date on technology for optometry that makes the visit easy and stress-free. I couldn't ask for a better doctor and I sure won't go looking for one again! read more

I entered eyetech that afternoon and lady in the front office greeted me by my name. She asked to wait for a min as i was very early to my appointment. less than 5 min passed and i was being tested by one of the technicians there before i saw the doctor. the technician was apologetic that i had to wait my turn. not a minute passed and Dr. Lamie started her testing as well. Dr. Lamei is an amazing eye doctor. she takes the time to explain results of the exams clearly to me and once done, asks if i had any questions. the front office were also great about getting my frames chosen and sent to have the lenses made. this is a caring group. i am glad they are in my neighborhood. read more

This review is LONG overdue. I purchased some glasses here, as well as having an eye exam, and my experience was STELLAR. It's hard to find a trustworthy, great doctor today in my opinion, let alone one where the price is right and the service is excellent. I can happily say Eye Tech meets all of these important criteria. My pricing was fair, the glasses came fast, and they even stayed a few minutes late for me to pickup my glasses. When I picked them out, I had my young child with me, and they were very warm, patient, and even played with my kid, which was rare and appreciated. GREAT place. GREAT people. read more

I ran into a bit of a bind, my childcare canceled. I had to take my 2 year old with me to my appointment. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. They even offered to watch him if he ran off. They didn't mind him talking loudly or walking around. It was such a relief. Dr. Lamei is upfront about the cost of product and is always trying to find you the best deal. Excellent care and awesome staff! I couldn't find the right contacts and I tried so many different doctors in the Austin area. I had a friend refer me to Eye Tech and I've never looked back. Dr. Parisa found the perfect contacts for me and all of my issues are now gone! What a relief. They don't rush you or push any products on you which is how all customers want to be treated. She would give me different types of contacts to try so we could do a trial run and then refine the products down to what suited me best. Also, the entire office is so nice, professional and they actually remember you. I recently moved out of the state so I wanted to make sure to spread the word about this fantastic office. My husband and I went for our annual eye exam. Dr. Parisa is so nice and friendly and has excellent bedside manner. She takes the time to listen to you and explains everything in detail. She made us feel comfortable and addressed all our questions. We never felt rushed. She's amazing and so is her staff! Ruby and all the other ladies are so friendly and accommodating. Great place for eye care and Dr. Lamei is wonderful. The staff is professional and courteous. However, as with all opt. offices the glasses and contacts are horribly overpriced. They really just need to get out of that business because Costco, Wal-Mart (via 1800Contacts), and others are much, much cheaper. I have been a client of Dr Lamei's since she had a small office in Sunset Valley and the level of courtesy, service and professionalism I have experienced in her office has never changed and always been the BEST!! I believe my exams are the most comprehensive with all options considered as to how to get the best vision considering all scenarios, i.e., short distance, long distance, computer, paper documents, tiny print and night vision/glare. Dr. Lamei is very thorough with her exam and strives to find the best solution for vision and comfort. I really wanted to like this place. The staff really are great. I went for my initial visit and a contact follow up and it just wasn't the best experience. I went for my visit on a Saturday. I saw a visiting doctor while the main one is out. That is fine. He was super nice. While I was waiting I was looking at glasses. There is not much of an option. They are all mostly the same wide frames, just in different colors. She kept having my try them on even though I said multiple times that I don't like how big the frames were. I went back for my eye appointment and all was well. They had me come in for a contact follow up a few days later. I come in on my lunch break from work and wait over 30 minutes to be seen. Eventually the manager comes in and asks me all the questions about my contacts and I get my prescription. I never even met the doctor. They said she was late getting back from lunch. This place is already very out of the way for me to drive, and both times were not a great experience. The place seems very nice and staff seems super nice. I'm not going to continue to drive out of my way though if this is the experience I've had both times. read more

The office is very spacious and has a wide selection of frames, Which I loved. The optical technician suggested frames for me which was much appreciated. Most otheroffices expect you to tend for yourself. The contact technician seemed not as experienced or thorough. My wife had a not so good experience with her prescription glasses at Eyetech.. The glass lens got a small chip at the edge, in the corner of the frame, near the nose bridge. Eyetech replaced under warranty when it happened the first time. Then the exact same problem happened 1 year later. She brought them back, but Eyetech would not warranty a second time. She takes good care of her glasses and there were no scratches or damage visible from use or abuse. Did not seem like a user caused issue to me, but some kind of stress on the lens due to mounting. We were both disappointed with Eyetech response. These were expensive glasses and frames. Not clear to me why this wasn't a parts/materials warranty issue, especially because it happened twice in the same spot. read more

As someone who's worked for an optometry office before, I can definitely say that Eye Tech is a very well run and organized eye doctor office. All staff are well trained and professional. Dr. L is gentle, perceptive, concise and communicates very clearly. She's no frills and is not like a used car salesperson who is constantly trying to upsell you or schmooze you. All equipment is up to date (no unpleasant air blowing eye pressure measuring device and a very user friendly optomap retinal imaging). I was seen on time without much of a wait and the appointment was quick and painless. My contacts came in 2 business days and the office staff were extremely knowledgeable about rebates. Prices were typical/fair and are what one should expect to pay for a quality eye exam. Also, I noticed that they use Essilor brand lenses for your glasses, which is one of the best, most high quality, long lasting lenses that you can get. (Not all opticals carry this lens brand and go for cheaper brands that have coatings that wear away after a couple years or scratch easily.) If you're going to complain about prices, then go to Walmart or Costco for your exam and glasses. There is a reason why things are priced a certain way, and you get what you pay for. read more

We have been seeing Dr. Lamei for the past year and a half. I take my 7-year old to this office. At a recent visit, Dr. Lamei noticed some inflammation in my daughter's eye and sent us immediately to a specialist within a couple of hours. She was diagnosed with a very serious condition that, left untreated, could have taken my daughter''s vision. I am very grateful to Dr. Lamei for her quick action. If she had not acted so quickly, we would have faced a very different outcome than we did. She always takes her time and is very thorough in her explanations. She does not talk down to you. It is always a pleasure going to this office. The staff is so friendly and professional. Rarely do I wait more than 5 or 10 minutes after arriving. They work really hard to get you the lowest cost for eyewear and lenses. Ruby is a genius at choosing frames that look great on you. I have to agree with Will M. that the frames are really expensive, and I usually end up at Wal-Mart for my frames (horrible experience at Costco.) You will not be disappointed in any way going to see Dr. Lamei and her staff. read more

I love Dr. Lamei's office. My previous optometrist's office was very impersonal. I saw a different doctor for the yearly exam each of the five years I used them, so when I decided it was time for a change, patient commitment and personal service were two things that were very important to me. I've been to my fair share of eye doctors in my life, and I can honestly say that Dr. Lamei is the best I've visited so far. She really takes the time to explain what is going on with your eyes so you have a good understanding (which I like since I'm the kind of person why always wants to know "Why?"). After checking my vision and my prescription, she correctly guessed some of my current symptoms, which to me shows that she has a lot of experience in this field.
