I have never experienced a human with such human kindness and industry expertise as I did here, today. I stepped on my favorite Pair of specs and brought them here for repair. We were greeted and told me he would do the best he could. He fixed them and added new nose pads. They were perfect, good as new!! I love this place. The guy that runs the joint, Myron, is an awesome dude. He will tell you exactly what he is capable of doing for you and he will do everything he can to make you happy. If you ever need a quick repair, a replacement lens, or any other eyeglass type stuff done, you should definitely swing by here. Myron is the only one I call when something goes wrong with my spectacles. The only down side is he doesn't do eye exams... you will have to get an exam elsewhere. But trust me, get your prescription wherever you please but take that shit to Myron and let him hook you up with your glasses. He is worth the extra trip. I am not sure how else to put it... I'm in Austin on business. One of the nose pads of my glasses broke off, and my glasses were cutting into the side of my nose. This optical place opens at 9am on Saturdays. Most optical places open at 10am. I had to be at work at 10am, so was really happy that they opened at 9am. I was very surprised that they replaced the nose pads on my glasses for FREE! I went there upon the recommendation of my Mom & I was not disappointed. Myron was patient, informative & even loaned me a pair of "readers" so that I would be able to read while my prescription was being filled & my broken frames fixed. Mom even told me about the time when she went there & saw Myron helping a customer at his car. This customer had mobility issues & it was very difficult for him to get in & out of his car. Myron met the customer at his car & went back & forth to the shop & got the customers glasses adjusted so that the customer did not have to get out of his car. Now that's what I call service! I went to North Austin Optical based on the strength of the reviews. The reviews were accurate! I have bifocals, a very strong prescription, and am picky about how my frames fit. I have never received better customer service or better lenses in Austin (or anywhere else). North Austin Optical has a great selection of quality frames (lots of the frames are made in Italy) and Myron was helpful in selecting ones that looked good on me. Due to a strong prescription I need high-index lenses with anti-reflection coating. The cost at North Austin Optical was in line with other shops and several hundred dollars cheaper than the highest priced shops in town. North Austin Optical is great! I am a retired physician (MD) with moderately high nearsightedness. When I recently scratched the lenses of my favorite glasses, I went to Myron for a replacement. Thinking that my favorite frames might be too old to be reused, he told me, " Your old frames are in good shape. Just replace the lenses." I really appreciated his honesty and concern for my welfare. Now I have a pair of high index (thin) Transition progressive lenses with beautifully beveled edges and top of the line anti-reflective coating. I love my new lenses! No more smeary surface problems! No more glare! It really makes a difference where you get your glasses! Myron really knows how to measure you so that you are seeing through the optical centers of the lenses. I also go to North Austin for frame repair, adjustment etc. Myron is a real professional. He knows his stuff as well as being honest, kind and friendly. He was very kind to help me find glasses in my price range, and he got the order done very quickly. I have never had to wait to be helped, as well. The last time I was in, a lady walked into the shop and the owner called her by name and said hello. I assumed she was his friend. When he left the room for a minute, the lady told me that she hardly knew him, but that he always called her by name. Wow, just picked up my new glasses at North Austin Optical. My eye dr. recommended this place, this is the best fit for glasses I have ever had. I have a difficult presciption - very nearsighted with astigmatism. The is the first time I've been able to put on a new pair of glasses and see perfectly with them (I usually need to have the lenses remade). Also, Myron, the owner, helped me pick out a frame that suits my face perfectly. In the past, I've had to sort through hundreds of frames without much guidance, it was really great to have such a knowledgeable person help me. To top it off, my Rayban Wayfarer sunglass lenses were scratched, and I asked Myron if he could repair them for me. He said no they couldn't be repaired, but he found me two brand new lenses in his box of spare sunglass lenses that people discard when they get prescription sunglasses. He gave me the lenses and installed them in my sunglass frames for free! It's like I have a brand new pair of Raybans now.
