I was very disappointed going here, after reading some of the reviews. I mainly looked at the google ones, which were 5 stars. I called to make an appointment and they got me in the next day, which was wonderful. The next day, when I went in, she told me that my deductible had not been met for this year, so the whole thing would be out of pocket. I am not an insurance wiz, but I did not think that vision and medical were linked by the deductible, and I KNEW insurance covered one exam a year. Since my last one was up in April, i knew it was a new year. So I called my insurance company right there and talked to an agent on the phone who told me that yes my exam was covered and that i had up to 225 in frames (Which i would pay on my own and then they would reverse me). I should also mention that i have Blue Cross, Blue Shield. So i finally was able to get my exam, which went pretty fast. This is why i did not give one star. The girl who did all the tests was very fast and efficient, which was really nice. The doctor was also very nice and showed me pictures of my eye and explained a lot. It was really neat, as no one has ever done that.
I told the doctor that I just needed glasses, because I had already bought my supply of contacts. So, she takes me out to the area where I can pick out frames. I told the lady that my insurance will cover up to 225, and she asked me what insurance I had and then told me that they DID NOT ACCEPT MY INSURANCE on that side.. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?! Why didn't they tell me that at the counter, when i first came in? So, again i called my insurance company and they said, it doesn't matter they'll still cover it, i just need to pay it and submit a claim. (Thank goodness for my insurance people, at least they know what they're talking about). So we start talking about frames/lenses. So lenses started out at like $110 ( I think, it might have been $160) and their lowest frames were $135. Well, i'm already over my 225 limit. I looked at my husband and we both thought that that price was really expensive. So i ended up just getting my prescription to take elsewhere.
The other kicker? They charge $35 for "Updating your contact lens prescription." I know its only $35, but i've NEVER heard of this and have been wearing contacts since i was in 6th grade (I'm now 25..). Moral of the story, I wont be going back.
Oh, and save your money, go to Costco. Their lens' start at $70 and their frames start at like 39.99. I ended up spending $185 on Thinner lens (As my eyes are REALLY bad) and name brand frames. read more
