I think the food is fine. I believe it to be a little overrated. I think people rave about it because they love California and when they think in and out they think great California weather and culture. The price is pretty good. Don't get me wrong, I love their food and the simplicity of the menu. So good. But this particular location is CONSTANTLY busy -- it's hard to find seating for groups. Service was stupendous! I was worried about the long line at the drive through, but we zoomed in and out! Derek wh was my cashier and not only was he charming, but easy on the eyes. And u can tell the employees like working there. I ordered the double burger with onions. Derek asked if I wanted ketchup (which of course I said yes to!), but ended up eating the friea plain, they were that good! I got the whole meal for under $7 and was not disappointed. Those who gave 1-2 stars don't understand the restaurant business and possibly are making a review based off of one experience. Having been multiple times, I can assure the quality is great. The only 2 things that could use a small change is maybe do a home made ice cream. If it is home made... Then it needs a rework. The tomatoes also seem to be frozen in a way... I went to This particular In and Out on Friday March 16, 2012. Maybe because it was busy my burger (double double) was REALLY greasy. My fries were also. My wifes burger (Cheeseburger) was so greasy she had to take it back. The bun was shiny enough that had I been lost in the woods, I could have easily signaled for help. Ive been a fan of In and Out for a long time.. When I was in College -before this In and Out existed, we would drive to Vegas to get our "fix". Ive tried animal style, protein style, grilled onion and not. Orem in and out makes a GOOD burger, but not a GREAT burger and that's too bad because the competition is stiff. 5 Guys, Smash Burger, Good Wood BBQ all make Great burgers. If you like greasy, and dont mind cold fries when they are busy, by all means go. If you want a GREAT burger, go somewhere else. read more

Gold-standard for fast food burgers for me and the quintessential California-style burger. I worked at In-N-Out in Bakersfield in high school and can attest that there is a huge company-wide emphasis on quality from the top down. I actually enjoyed my time working there and never got sick of the food. Admittedly, fries are probably an acquired taste. If you're eating there for the first time, forget the secret menu stuff. The regular menu burgers are for a more general palate. If you can, eat in the restaurant and don't take out. The quality of the food deteriorates quickly as it cools down. Not everyone will love this place as much as I do, but you won't know until you try it. read more

I just left In n Out in Orem UT, and the girl named Shayn that works there was completely rude! I ordered my items "animal style" with the girl at the first window, and when I got to the second window where Shayn was, the communication apparently did not go through! I asked Shayn to confirm that the items were correct and she rolled her eyes and let out an annoyed sigh and told me it was an extra charge to get my items "animal style". I explained that I had confirmed with the first girl that I wanted the food to come that way, so Shayn huffed and puffed and then snatched the bags away to correct the error. When she gave the bags back she said "next time you need to confirm with the cashier that your order is correct before you pull forward." I tried to explain a second time that I had confirmed, but Shayn cut me off and told me that I need to double check with the cashier. Call me crazy, but if you choose to work in the service industry maybe you should try to be a bit nicer and get your exaggerated eye rolling in check! read more

The people who don't get why this place is supposedly no better than McDonalds, don't grasp a couple of simple things. The first is service, which is better here. More important, the second is quality. The meat here isn't a health risk, unlike the meat in almost every other fast food restaurant. Read "Fast Food Nation," and ideally read "The Omnivore's Dilemma" too. You'd have to be ignorant or nuts to eat at places like McDonalds. Do you not know where their ground beef comes from? At In-N-Out, you know it's fresh, and ground from a hand-inspected chuck roast. It's not bits of a thousand different cows, from a filthy industrial facility. Also, the burgers at In-N-Out are really good. In-N-Out fries are just awful; always have been. There's always the secret menu, and if you insist on fries you should probably ask for well done. This is what fast food should be! I've frequented this location multiple times since it opened a few years ago, but today was by far the best visit yet. I showed up right in the midst of a very busy Friday lunch hour - there were no tables inside, barely standing room, and the drive thru was at least 15 cars long. I almost walked out, but my craving for one of their delicious double doubles kept me in the door. I was very surprised by how quickly my order was taken. Also, considering how busy it was, the workers were extremely friendly and courteous. One worker was even taking the time to ask the customers in the dining hall how there meal was while also cleaning up inevitable messes. I got my food within 10 minutes of ordering and it was one of the more delicious meals I've gotten there before. Whenever you're craving a meal that's clearly been made of fresh ingredients, at an inexpensive cost, served by friendly and efficient people, this is the place to go! read more
