I've been going here since I was very young and service has always been consistent and clean. There are always smiling faces, even if you're going in at heinous hours or with groups of theater kids high off adrenaline after their last show. Giving it a 2 the food was great but the service was nonexistent from our waiter (Diego) who just vanished . It wasn't even busy we had to rely on other servers who had their own tables to worry about . Disappointed . Did not like my experience here. I guess the fault for that is at least partly my own, as I was expecting decent food, and that was maybe expecting too much. IHOP is perhaps meant only for people who can't tell good food from bad or people who are too drunk to care either way. But as a sober person looking for good breakfast food, I was disappointed. The first time I've ever had IHOP was in VA lol. For some reason I always crave this place whenever I visit friends here. I love breakfast food and I LOVE IHOP for it's huge selections and endless coffee. I always get the grits with the butter on the side, so good! Not your typical IHop. The food was actually good and service was amazing. Our server, George, Was both funny and attentive at 2am. We were seated within seconds of our arrival and George was telling jokes right off the bat. Great guy I still don't know nor do I want to know how he has that energy at 2 am but keep it up George! This ihop location is my go to late night snack location! They have never once had a problem accommodating large groups, sometimes upwards of 15 people, that I come in with. The milkshakes are amazing and the various holiday themed options are always a hit! The wait staff are always kind and accommodating, no matter how late at night it may be or how complicated the order. As long as this ihop stands I will continue my patronage here. read more

This is our families FAVORITE restaurant in Northern VA. Why cook and clean up at home when you can get great service. lots of fun food choices , generous portions and really reasonable prices. Also you can fill out the survey form and get a free short stack. The pancakes are THE BEST! What we really like is that we can trade out items for other side dishes. This is a very well run IHOP! The servers here are always friendly and attentive. The food comes out very quickly too.

The night started off okay. The waiter seemed friendly. He took our order, brought our food, and checked in on us one time. But then, he didn't come back for 30 minutes. 3/5 of us were out of drinks, but no one seemed to care. There were 10 servers in the back, but no one came to check on us. When our server finally came back to bring us more drinks, he spilled soda in my friend's shoe. That was just the service itself. When we went to pay, we only got one check, even though we asked for separate, and the man at the register was very rude. We asked him to split it, and he did, but he seemed angry at us. I was paying for my friend as well, so we had two entrees plus a drink (for the college special), but he told me I couldn't use it because there was only one drink. Then he asked me if I wanted to buy another drink - why would I buy a drink I didn't drink?! To top it all off, none of us got a 'how was your meal?' or 'have a good night'. It's a shame because we've eaten here before and didn't have awful service but in fact much better. read more

I've like this location. It's close to campus and gives you student discount prices on Thursdays! It's great for college students who are on a budget! The service I've had here is great! They also seat you quickly unlike they do at other locations. But then again, it truly depends on who is your waiter. I've had some who hardly even check up on my table. I know this is IHOP and wasn't expect much but a half decent meal after a late night movie on Sunday. I tell you the pork chops are taste like cardboard, home fries are over cooked, vegetables are so over cooked that there is no hope of any benefits eating them. I don't know who is back there cooking but I wouldn't ask that guy/gal to cook for my dog! May be they pay a little more they can get a grandma who can do a better job. The wait staffs are also slow and inattentive. Other than the initial order, the dude didn't even come back until we have to wave him down across the restaurant for the check. I will give silver diner a try next time for a late night meal but won't be back here any time soon. I was a patron of IHOP when I lived in Fairfax. My daughters and I would go there for a family dinner. I loved their Swedish Lingonberry crepes. As far as I am concerned the best item on the menu. I have moved away from Fairfax but still crave those crepes and plan a nostalgic trip to Fairfax to enjoy those yummies again. By the way, the wait staff there is very helpful and friendly and seem to enjoy being of service.
