For example, yesterday, I had their Peter's Special, a sandwich made from 1/2 lb of pastrami and 1/2 lb of corned beef. Except that it's not "a" sandwich, but three, all on delicious rye bread, each with its own pickle, and a small helping of slaw, sauerkraut, and a major pile of salad. It was my lunch yesterday; the remaining two sandwiches are my lunch today and tomorrow. That's three meals for $30, which, to me, is a reasonable price. The problem was that the more they do to create the food, the less flavorful it is. For example, on another recent visit, I had their Country Style Omelet. Again, it was huge and contained everything that goes into a great omelet. Except, there wasn't a lot of flavor. And that seems to be the theme. I grabbed a slice of their 24-layer cake and, again, big but not much taste beyond sweetness. If you crave a lot of food, then this might be the spot for you. However, if you prefer less and more, smaller portions with better, more nuanced flavor, then maybe try one of the other nearby restaurants.

After some time I decided to go with the Ruth's classics which was a prix fixe meal with a salad or soup, an entree and a small dessert. I went with the French onion soup to start with. It was fine although surprisingly peppery which I'd never had with French onion before. Morton's still has the best imho. The one thing I will say is they gave the biggest portion of any of the fine dining restaurants I've had. For the entree I upgraded to the 16oz ribeye. It normally comes with shrimp as well but as I'm not a fan I just said to keep them. The steak was alright, nothing special. It was seasoned pretty well but wasn't a great cut. I'd say much closer to choice than prime which for a high end restaurant was pretty disappointing. I consistently get higher quality cuts at Longhorn. I ordered medium but should have ordered medium rare since it comes on a 500 degree plate and kept cooking. By the time I was done it was well into medium well territory. I might advise getting the doneness below what you actually want. It came with a choice of sides and I chose mashed potatoes. They were very mediocre. In fact they were probably the weakest point of the whole meal. I ended up boxing them up to see if I could improve them at home. For dessert they brought a small cheese cake with a raspberry sauce and mixed berries. Honestly the highlight of the meal. The texture was velvety but still firm and the berries were perfectly ripe. The size itself was small but I was completely satisfied with it after the meal. I got their carrot cake to go. The carrot cake was fine, again nothing special. The palm and even outback has superior ones I think. The subtotal was 114$. The ribeye upgrade was 25$ by itself and the carrot cake was 15$. Overall the meal was ok but I was expecting so much more for 114$ when I can get one just as good or usually better at any mid tier. This was my first time visiting Ruth's Chris, but I had always heard great things about the restaurant. When we got to our table, they had confetti and a card waiting for me. I felt welcomed and really appreciated the gesture. The restaurant was pretty empty due to Lent but the ambiance was amazing and the music choice was 10/10. The food was amazing and everything was cooked perfectly. I got the chicken and it did not disappoint. We all got something from the bar and we were very pleased. The crème brûlée was the best I'd ever tasted at any restaurant I've visited. They also provided a birthday dessert that was pretty good. Our server, Mason, was AMAZING. Some of the best service I've ever had a restaurant. He was hospitable, engaging, and upbeat. He got all of our orders correct and checked in on us to make sure we were satisfied. The server assistant, Sergio, was also very kind and attentive. Last but not least, the manager, Bill, was just as kind and welcoming. Not only did they provide stellar service in general, they did so on very short notice. Bill and his team did an excellent job and I will be returning to this location in the future because of all their efforts. Coming back after years and years, there are a couple of differences, but, most is the same.  There are fewer sauces to choose from on the tables, but, the ones that are there are all good in their own variety.  The restaurant is large and clean and the staff was very welcoming and helpful.  The menu is extensive and out of the multiple options, we chose the St. Louis ribs, chopped pork and the brisket.  Our favorite was the ribs.  Unlike many places lately, Famous Daves has kept their ribs full of meat.  They were tasty and very satisfying rather than scrawny or tiny and disappointing as we have found more and more in other BBQ places.  The chopped pork was good as was the brisket but the ribs were the favorite.  There were also many sides to choose from, including the mac & cheese (which contained corn - haven't seen that before) the garlic mashed potatoes, collards and the necessary fries for dipping.  Each entrée also came with a corn muffin.  It was a lot of food so we're saving the muffins for breakfast tomorrow...  The portions were generous enough that we have lunch set for tomorrow.  I'm bummed that I ate so much that I had no room for dessert because several of those sounded good.  Oh well, tomorrow is another day and maybe a dessert run will be in the works.  Famous Daves has plenty of tables and booths in a surprisingly large space and the parking is super easy in the lot out front.
