Feast for Two with Pork Rib, Grilled Chicken and Beef Brisket
    Richard H.

Very good barbecue for weekend family dining. We ordered the feast for 2, which is good enough size for my wife and I. I love the brisket and the rib. The chicken is fine. The corn muffin is GREAT. I loved it. Service is good and quick. 4 out of 5 because the meat only contain less than 50% of the feast.

We had a party of 8, and two dinners came out 15 minutes after everyone else's and one person did not receive their dinner at all -- even after 30+ minutes of waiting. The manager is absolutely clueless on how to manage and never even came out to check on how to get things rectified. She was too busy playing cashier and making excuses. Eventually we just had to accept that they could not serve eight dinners. So, for screwing up our evening, she reduced the bill by $25.

Great Food and Service! The Iris's Fried Chicken is consistently good! It is perfectly fried in the tastiest batter and always juicy! The St. Louis Ribs are mine and my husband's favorite compared to any restaurant! The Caesar Salad is terrific! My husband is hooked on the chili. Jordan, our server enhanced our experience with his humor and prompt, right on target service. He knew what we needed before we said anything! Great Famous Dave's!!!

Solid place for BBQ. We opted for a higher protein meal and while we were weary of it being a chain restaurant, this did not disappoint! Everything was well seasoned and cooked to our liking. Loved the cornbread muffin! Staff was friendly and efficient.

Finally trying this place since it's near my work. They have great deals each day of the week. Came on Monday for their lunch specials. Ribs and chicken were great and fall off the bone. Flavorful and didn't even require additional sauce, think the taste is great. Mashed potatoes were alright- kinda bland..needed more seasoning and salt. Cornbread muffin was delicious. I might try the cheeseburger next time since I saw that was reviewed highly.

    They got corn in it

They got collard greens and corn in the Mac and cheese. So f****ing upset. Stiff unseasoned meats. But best barbecue sauce and cornbread I ever had

Too bad they shut down some of their outposts up north but it was nice to taste their above average BBQ down in Virginia. This location was fairly small but fortunately the food was still as I remembered it to be. Too bad they don't offer baby back ribs here but at least they still had their excellent dry rub option for their spare ribs. Coupled with their always excellent (and spicy) Devil's Spit sauce, it was an excellent meal all around. Their fries were still nice and crispy (and paired nicely with the BBQ sauce) and the cole slaw, cornbread etc were all good. The service here was nice and food got to the tables pretty quickly. Generally speaking the place was ok tho not particularly clean in some areas, especially the bathroom. However, all in the food is good and just as consistently yummy as I remembered eating this years ago in NYC. All in, you can't go wrong here if you're hankering for some ribs or BBQ in general

We had an incredible experience celebrating a birthday at Evelyn Rose!…read more The menu is exciting, seasonal, and features a TON of local options and farms- you can taste the difference. We decided to start by sharing the wagyu carpaccio, the fried green tomatoes, and an appetizer portion of the cavatelli- I really like that you can do appetizer portions of both pastas on rotation on the menu here. We were also brought two pieces of focaccia with incredibly flavorful olive oil (yum!). The cavatelli and the fried green tomatoes were standouts for us, the pasta had a great chew and the bolognese was really flavorful. The fried green tomatoes came topped with a pimento cheese that was incredible. For our entrees, we opted for the braised bison shoulder and the scallops. The scallops were perfectly prepared and were a very generous portion. The bison shoulder was so tender and the accompaniments were incredible- this was a perfect fall dish. We also got the charred sweet summer corn, which was delicious and came studded with the lightest goat cheese, and rustic Old Bay potatoes, which were absolutely perfectly fried and came with a side of some honey mustard. We took a good amount of the sides home and they held up for a day or two! I was really impressed with the wine list here- there were a lot of solid options. The champagne in particular was excellent (and I am picky!). Our server, who I believe was Riley, really made it a special night. He was so attentive and had excellent suggestions. One touch that was so thoughtful was that we had declined dessert because we would be having birthday cake later, but mentioned that the banana tres leches sounded so good. He brought over a scoop of the banana ice cream that's typically on top of that dessert with a candle in it! It was so kind of him to listen to us but still recognize that it was a special occasion- and it was some of the best ice cream I've had in a long time (he said it is made in house every day with duck eggs, it was so rich and flavorful). We have already booked our return reservation here! Thanks to Evelyn Rose for a wonderful night with such memorable food.

It was all quite good. The service was high end. Ashley was very attentive and our water glasses were never empty. We will definitely be back!

Word of advice: make a reservation! When you step through the doors, you're greeted by that lively hum of a packed house with every booth and table full. Scored a parking spot right outside, which was a great start to the night. Bread Basket: Outstanding start. The little round fried dough breads were incredible, and the artisan loaf (seemed like an olive bread) paired with the butter was fantastic. Calamari & Onion Strings: Fried to absolute crispy perfection without being greasy. Since my wife has a lobster allergy, they accommodated us by putting the lobster ginger sauce on the side for me. That sauce is killer, and the calamari and onion strings stood strong on their own, too. Side Salad: Came with the steak and was generous enough for my wife and me to share. I can't recall the exact dressing name from the menu, but it was seasoned and balanced completely on point. Drunken Ribeye & Loaded Baked Potato: Hands down one of the best restaurant dishes I've had in a very long time. First off, I loved the humor on the menu under the meat temperature guide, under 'Well Done' it literally says "Order chicken." Hilarious! I ordered mine rare, and they executed it flawlessly. Tender, high-quality cut of beef, great char, and deep, phenomenal flavor. The loaded baked potato had the exact right ratios of all the fixings. Portions were so generous that half went home for lunch the next day. Jambalaya Pasta: My Wife (My BFF) ordered this for her entree and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The high ratings and reviews for this place did not lie. If you are in the Northern Virginia area, or looking for a meal that genuinely justifies the trip, do your stomach a favor and check out Artie's. 5 stars all the way!

Of course I had to partake, so I ordered the special pie, which was a masala, chicken, curry pie, and it was quite good. My friend and I were also taught how to properly hit the ketchup bottle to get the ketchup out by the bartender. You find the 57 on the bottle at an angle and bump you palm there that instead of hitting the bottom and hoping and praying that ketchup comes out. It actually worked or at least it was more efficient than trying to hit the bottom of the bottle upside down. I had never had a hand pumped beer before, but it was quite good. Glad I just got the 1/2 portion. The Simple Basket of Fries were a bit of a miss. The curly potato wedges came out a bit soggy from the air fryer and lacked the crispy texture that I was hoping for. They were a bit too thick to properly cook in the air fryer. I with the bar food had a bit better options. There's casual high-top and bar seating with 1/2 dozen outdoor tables. There is outdoor seating. Two large bar areas are inside and two dining areas, each with their own vibe. While the back (err side facing the street) has more tv's and a larger bar, both areas are kid and family friendly. There's a variety of mocktails and adult beverages to choose from. I was delighted to see a Pimms Cup! The drinks are vasty and well put together, not just with a thrown together mix. The servers are super friendly and appropriately attentive. Ours made really good recommendations. There's a very good beer selection and wine choices as well. We ordered A LOT of food (no judgment!) because trying new things is fun! The French Dip sandwich was DELISH! Perfectly executed and the roll was homemade and perfect. The best were the fried mozzarella cheese sticks - they're absolutely enormous and provide the perfect cheese pull. Don't skip the lump crab dip - the homemade baguette was the perfect compliment and the flavor was perfection. The pimento smash burger was good, but I would choose other items over this. It didn't eat like a regular smash burger and was way too overly saucy for me.

This turned out so much better than expected! They have a ton of TVs and show a variety of games. Unfortunately there wasn't a way for all 3 of us to comfortably watch, but I tried to sit sideways. The food was really good! I loved my steak and eggs which came with two crispy, garlicky hash browns. My husband thought the chicken in his dish was better than usual, juicy well seasoned and crispy chicken thigh. I didn't grab a photo, but the upside down pineapple cake was so good. The menu has a lot of choices and the prices are reasonable. Service was a tad slow. Despite signage, it was really confusing on where to enter.

Maple Ave is a small, no-frills bistro in Vienna that serves higher end modern European options ran…read moreby two people! They offer a prix-fixe menu that changes seasonally (?) for brunch and dinner. The ingredients here are high-quality and well prepared and cared for before serving. I've heard great things about Maple Ave from a friends, so I took my family here for dinner this past Wednesday. We really enjoyed the creativity of how the dishes were crafted and plated here and the execution was also phenomenal. This time around, it was 59.00 per person for a 4-course prix-fixe dinner (two appetizers, one entree, and one dessert). Since there were only a couple options per section, we were able to try all the options they had. FIRST: APPLE HAZELNUT SOUP Creamy, pale colored soup with a thicker consistency similar to butternut squash soup. It was lightly sweet, yet savory at the same time. There were some pickled apples and toasted hazelnuts delicately sprinkled on top that added a bit of a crunch. The soup was unique and we enjoyed it. FIRST: ROOTCAKE Between the rootcake and the apple hazelnut soup, the rootcake was my favorite. The vegetables were caramelized and made into a patty, topped generously with almonds with some umami aïoli and pimenton sauce. The rootcake was so good. Each bite was hearty and rich, and it's such a unique way to prepare vegetables. The sauce enhanced each bite and the almonds provided a nutty texture. I would recommend the rootcake as your first option. SECOND: CRISPY SQUASH NUGGETS I didn't think I would enjoy the crispy squash nuggets as much as I did. The roasted squash is breaded with panko crumbs, sitting in some dill yogurt sauce and topped with some raisins and radish. The squash were perfectly seasoned and crispy with a soft interior that left my taste buds wanting more. The dill yogurt sauce was a good complement. I'd definitely recommend this option if you're not a fan of mushrooms and/or you want something more crispy. SECOND: WILD MUSHROOM RISOTTO One of the best mushroom risottos I've ever had. It's rich and creamy, filled with truffle flavor. The shiitake mushrooms had a dry, crispy texture. The manchego shavings on top were a great plus. The squash was used for coloring and probably some flavoring? Not sure. The whole thing was really good and memorable. I'd definitely recommend! THIRD: SHRIMP I'm not a huge fan of shrimp, but my family loved it along with the citrus braised fennel. I was a fan of the creamy semolina, though! Overall, it wasn't for me, but that's more of a personal preference. THIRD: PORK CONFIT STEAK The pork they used was pork belly (?) and seared very nicely, topped with perfectly crispy potatoes, mangoes (?), brown butter sweet potato puree and chimi churri sauce. The pork belly melted in my mouth but as someone who's not the biggest fan of fatty pork, I wish it was a leaner cut. The potatoes were so good and went well with the sweet potato puree. Even though I didn't love the pork confit steak, I'd recommend this entree over the shrimp. FOURTH: MOCK FRIED "APPLE" PIE It was zucchini instead of apple and you can't even tell. I loved the crispy pie exterior which was lightly topped with cinnamon. The vanilla bean ice cream was my favorite as it was creamy and smooth. The dulce de leche and lavender honey were nice touches. Very nice way to end the meal. All the food here were so rich with lots of complex flavors. Each dish was so beautifully plated with many vibrant colors. We were quite full after all the food we ate. I would recommend coming here with another person to try all the options they offer here! The food here is unique and well-executed, and I'd be open to come back to try a different seasonal menu.
