Located on a little plaza at the junction of a busy intersection, this Bonchon shares ample parking with the other little shops in the area. We came in on a Wednesday evening as a party of two without having to wait in an otherwise relatively quiet night We ordered the 10pc mix wings, half soy garlic, half spicy, and a bibimbap for balance also with garlic soy chicken For $17 the bibimbap was underwhelming. It was good, don't get me wrong, but doesn't justify the price The wings were also disappointing. While they have the signature Bonchon double fried taste, there's actually very little meat - I'm not sure what kind of chicken they're getting but don't be fooled by the 'size' in the photos - you take one bite, and its a lot of crunch and a lot of air. It's funny - I'm looking at their menu online and they offer 6pc mixed or 12pc mixed, but not a 10pc option... you can count in the photos yourself. Not sure what's going on there. I also ordered a pint of Sapporo All of this, for the two us, including tip, was about $60. The food is fine, but this meal absolutely does not warrant the price tag. We left feeling a bit remorseful and didn't really satisfy our fried chicken craving that night tldr; this isn't like Bonchon from 10 years ago. I remember when Bonchon first opened in the DMV and we waited 1 hour for that delicious Korean Fried Chicken. It was worth the wait back then...what about these days? First off, I will say this Bonchon location is nice and clean and you don't have oily slippery floors like I've seen in the past so that's positive. It is also more 'full service' with a bar and more servers then I've seen elsewhere. Ok good start... The other big bonus is $1 wings on Mondays & Tuesdays...Wow..good deal! We order 20 some odd wings with a combo of soy garlic and spicy. It takes 10-15 mins to get your freshly fried wings so be prepared to wait. When they come, I dig in immediately...hmmm. ...what do I think? Not as good as I remember...they are ok but somehow just a bit different. I came in and was greeted by a friendly order-taker and placed a takeout order of Japchae. It was flavorful, but the veggies were undercooked. I've had them cooked perfectly at other Bonchons, so I do have perspective on this dish. I would never dine inside because I disliked the takeout experience (a first for me). I sat at one of their tables and was about to TASTE my food when a young woman (presumably a manager) advised me of their "no outside food or drink" policy. First thought when the food came out was these are some large pieces of drumsticks & wings!! The yangnyeom was my favorite. It was spicy and sweet and just overall balanced out perfectly. I usually love soy garlic flavor however the wings coated in this sauce was my least favorite. I thought it was way too salty. I also ordered the new item on the menu: mapo Korean corn dog coated in sugar and cinnamon, this was my absolutely least favorite out of everything. As far as chain locations go, I'd say this one is pretty solid. Easy to get to, plenty of parking, and not super crowded. I think most people are familiar with Korean fried chicken and probably Bonchon as well. The inside is clean and the service is fast and friendly - really can't ask for much more! I felt like the food came out fast and was the same quality I have come to expect for Bonchon. We've done both dine-in and take-out and have had nothing but super smooth experiences. So when I went with a friend to pick up some takeout out and we were both surprised when we walked in and saw all the tables. We went on a Saturday afternoon and there was hardly anyone there. We decided not to stay and eat as it is always awkward to be in an empty restaurant. We asked the guy at the host stand/register what to get. With some parameters he offered suggestions. We got chicken strips, fried rice and seasoned French fries. To start off, the order of fries was smaller than expected for the $8 price tag... it wasn't a typical sharing size. The smallest order of chicken strips was 8 pieces which is hefty and more than the two of us could eat. We split the order into 2 flavors, both were very good. This was a bad experience from beginning to end. Waiter sat us and took our drink order and then.....clocked out. Literally. We waited and waited then looked for him only to see him behind the bar eating . We waived him over and he told us he was on break and actually started to ask if we would mind waiting!!! He did (somewhat) graciously agree to take our order but then only semi turned it in so we didn't get what we ordered and appetizers came at the end of the meal. Had to go get our drinks from the bar then had to go get our own refills. Wings were good. Can't deny that. But they were pricey and the service started at rock bottom then started digging. Our bill came with a 20% automatic gratuity since there were 6 of us and I am LIVID over that. To add insult to injury I completed the survey and received an email telling me they were sorry and someone would get in touch with me to make it right and then....crickets. The wings were hearty and very easy to eat, but messy. We had to ask for extra napkins. The sauce was the star of the show, the sweet and spicy flavors were prevalent. The drumsticks were much larger than I expected! They almost looked like the ones from the renaissance festival. The skin was perfectly crisp and held the Yangnyeom flavor well. We were disappointed in the shrimp starter, it was six small dumplings with a honey mustard smattered around on the dish. The service was good, the server was attentive. Visited this Bonchon to pick up wings for friend's Super Bowl party. The location was completely overwhelmed by the huge influx of orders for Super Bowl. I placed my order 3 hours ahead of time for 6PM pickup, when I arrived at 6:10PM there were probably ~30 people inside the store waiting to pickup their orders, Bonchon was definitely running far behind on orders, and it was pretty chaotic at the pickup counter. I could not get the attention of a staff member to check if my order is ready since all the staff were running around hectically. Even though there were many bags of food ready on the counter could not check myself either since the tickets were facing inside or too far to read, and I didn't want to go over and start touching everyone else's food bag. A fight nearly broke out between 2 guys right next to me over mask wearing but some quick words from a staff member calmed that down. There was a lot of tension in the air as everyone seemed to be anxious to get food after lengthy delays. I finally got a text msg around 6:22PM that said my food was ready for pick up and when I went to the counter I realized my food was probably ready for a long time as I've seen the bag sit on the counter but couldn't tell if that was mine. The food was good. Feel for the staff members that had to handle such as stressful situation. This Bon Chon is ok at this location in Fairfax but be careful on what you order ! I normally eat at the one in Manassas so to my surprise when I ordered the bibimbap which I always get in the Manassas store came hot and with egg but here it came cold and no egg , egg was extra then. Then I was told that it comes like that because in Korea they have two kinds cold and hot which is fine only it should have been asked if you want hot or cold!!
