We're regulars at the First Watch in Fairfax, and for good reason--the service is consistently fantastic, and the food never disappoints. The team here is always welcoming, efficient, and genuinely friendly, which makes every visit feel like a treat. This morning, we tried the Elevated Egg Sandwich and the new Wild Berry Lavender French Toast--both were delicious. The sandwich was perfectly balanced with savory flavors and just the right amount of richness, while the French toast was a showstopper: light, flavorful, and beautifully presented, with a hint of floral sweetness that really set it apart. It's clear the staff take pride in what they do, and that quality shines through in every part of the experience. Whether you're a regular or just passing through, this First Watch is a breakfast spot worth coming back to again and again.

Chocolate chip pancake and Farmhouse Hash

Although this place is a chain, I continue to come back. They have a great variety, sweet and savory breakfast options. It's typically busy on the weekends however they let you join the waitlist which makes the time go by faster. Their pancakes are one of my favorite, they also have sugar-free syrup available.

This location is a bit out of the way for me but with the drive. Everytime I go the wait time (if busy) is no more than 15 minutes or we're seated right away. I got the frittata and my partner had the trifecta. We also shared some million dollar potatoes (I think). Absolutely delicious. This location definitely draws an older crowd, college kids, older couples, adults really so it's a nice calm ambiance with people just enjoying a meal. Located in a rich shopping center so plenty to do in case there is a wait time. Love first watch drinks too - super refreshing.

A happening, friendly and delicious restaurant. Wait times were super reasonable and they have a coffee station to help you wait out until you're seated. A wide open menu offers everything you can imagine for breakfast from pancakes to egg white vegetarian omelettes. Endless coffee is fresh brewed and delicious with your own carafe delivered that holds 4-6 cups. Service is quick and friendly. Food is served beautifully and piping hot. Nothing premade about this place. Pumpkin pancakes were a big hit and best of all tasted natural not like the over top pumpkin flavor you often get this time of year. Egg white triathlete omelet was perfection when coupled with the spicy salsa provided. This is definitely a new favorite for me. Neat piece. They deliver your bill and you can pay with your phone by scanning a QR code on the bill. So easy and fast as heck. Keeps the server foot traffic down shuttling credit cards. Nice!

Don't come here on a Sunday at noon. Also the online website line reservation system is not real. You get in line when you check in with the host. Also they don't have espresso or steam milk for cappuccinos or lattes. The food was overpriced dennys quality, Sysco goods

Hard boiled eggs on a benedict?

First Watch continues to disappoint me every time I come back. This is the third time I've ordered an Eggs Benedict and have received basically hard boiled eggs. It had already taken about 20 minutes for our food to come out so sending it back and ordering another one was not an option. I just don't understand how this happens considering you can tell if a poached egg is overcooked just by touching it.

Their food and drinks are good and their staff is nice but it's always crowded. I highly recommend you make a reservation online before you go out there. If not, you will be waiting for 40 minutes. If you make a reservation online, you still have to confirm your reservation when you get there and wait another 10 minutes or so. I started off with a beet, carrot, and green juice. It was refreshing. Then I had the lemon ricotta pancakes, which are so delicious! Then I had the scramble eggs with brisket and potatoes. It was good but it could use more brisket, hence why I didn't put it in the post. I will definitely be back You do have to come with patience as they did forget my main dish. It was crowded and chaotic

Stopped in at First Watch for breakfast this past week. The place was ridiculously busy for a Thursday morning. I had to wait a few minutes for a table - less than 5 minutes. I ordered the Smoked Salmon and Roasted Vegetable Frittata. It is served with toasted Ciabatta bread - and your choice of dressed greens or roasted potatoes. I went with the taters option. And coffee. The food came out in about 10 minutes or so. The Frittata was slightly overcooked and slightly under seasoned - for my palate. I added a bit of salt and cracked black pepper, plus a good bit of hot sauce (I put hot sauce on any and all egg dishes (fried eggs, scrambled eggs, omelettes, quiche, frittatas, etc.). Overall, it tasted very good. The roasted potatoes were also good - I had 3 or 4 potato cubes that were underdone - kind of weird considering all the rest were nicely cooked/roasted. I added some salt and ketchup to the taters. Service was good. You can pay at the register - or scan the QR code on the receipt - and pay via your smart phone. I opted for this payment method - works very well! #FIrstWatch

Special - potato and millionaire bacon

Food - 4.5 service -4 ambiance - 4.5 First watch is solid. The food is consistent and the in restaurant service is generally very friendly and helpful. My go to is the chicken quinoa with pesto. I always get extra dressing. I feel it js quinoa heavy so I don't always finish. I give 4 only because i have taken out a lot and they are consistently very late with the food. Sometimes we wait 20-30-40 minutes for the food when we pickup which is unacceptable. But - if you sit down I do like the call ahead as it is pretty reliable. Otherwise be prepared to wait for a table. I like they give free coffee in the front while you wait.

Cobb Salad

I hadn't ordered takeout from here in a little while, but I decided to order again a few weeks ago. I ordered the Farmhouse hash, and it was tasty. I wish the potatoes were a little crispier though. I also ordered the Cobb salad, and it was pretty good as well. I wouldn't say there is anything special about it, as it just tastes like a standard Cobb salad, but it tasted fresh. I have also dined in at this location in the past, and the service isn't bad, and the restaurant is nice. I would say that I probably prefer just taking out from here though, as it can get quite busy, especially over the weekends. Overall, a pretty solid place to get brunch. I am giving it four instead of five stars because I feel like the quality and portion size of the food varies quite a bit, especially for pickup orders.

Works omelet with upgraded potatoes
Shanan F.

Great food quality. Wife loves the mint coffee. The works omelet is yummy. I would recommend getting the potato upgrade with million dollar bacon and creamy Parmesan cheese sauce for only $2. Pro tip would be to put your name on the list when you are headed over otherwise you may have to wait 45 minutes after 9am.

1/2 Sandwich and 1/2 Salad Lunch Special
Jo L.

FOOD I ordered the lunch special (1/2 sandwich, 1/2 salad) with the Monterey club and chicken avocado chop salad (w/ no beans), while my friend ordered The Works Omelet. The sandwich was a little heavy with the mayo, but still delicious. The bacon was crispy and came with turkey, avocado, greens, and cheese. The salad was also dressed well (not under or over) and incredibly flavorful. If returning, I'd definitely get the salad again! DRINKS We had black coffee with creamers (at the table). Nothing special, but it hits the spot. SERVICE The staff are very friendly and kind. It was obvious that they were a little overwhelmed with the capacity (especially on a weekday!), so the wait times could become elongated. AMBIANCE Especially around brunch time, the place can get crowded very quickly. We ended up waiting around 45 minutes for a table of two around noon, but that was also because the staff forgot we were on the waiting list. We ended up seeing people who got a table before us despite them arriving after. It was a little frustrating, but things happen! PARKING Ample parking shared with neighboring vendors is available in front of and around the storefront.

The actual restaurant feels massive but decorated in a rustic way. I want to give a huge shout out to Alicia. She is such a knowledgeable, approachable, and receptive server. She was on top of refilling drinks, making sure we weren't left alone for too long when we were waiting for our food to come, and just had an overall amazing energy. While we really enjoy all of the servers we've had at Mikes, Alicia takes the cake. If there's any way to provide her with recognition, I would highly vouch for it. She could sell me anything on that menu with that kind of personality! Thank you, Alicia! I'm going to make sure we try to get seated at your table again.

I visited Mike's American after coming across it on Resy and was able to get a same-day reservation…read morefor two on Easter Sunday. As expected, it was busy, but the restaurant does have a fairly large parking lot which made arrival easier. The setup was interesting. After checking in downstairs, I was given a ticket and directed upstairs for seating. I took the elevator, which offered a clear view of the kitchen below as it ascended... definitely a unique touch. Upstairs, another host staff guided us to our table. The space had a lively feel, roaring with chatter from customers, and I could see parts of the kitchen where food was being prepared over an open flame, which added to the overall atmosphere. For the food, we started with the calamari. It was cooked well and had a nice texture, especially paired with the crispy onion shoestrings, which added a good crunch and flavor. It was served over a lobster sauce, although the lobster flavor wasn't very noticeable. The main issue was the salt level... it was quite heavy! I did enjoy it overall, but I would only recommend it to someone who doesn't have to watch their sodium intake. For entrées, I ordered the steak cooked medium with broccolini. The dish automatically comes with mashed potatoes, and while I was able to substitute the salad for broccolini, there didn't seem to be flexibility with the potatoes. After tasting the mashed potatoes, I wish I was offered to substitute it as it tasted like the brown box we grew up on where you just added water. When the food came out, the steak was closer to medium-well or well done rather than medium, and both the mashed potatoes and broccolini were a bit cold. I chose not to send it back since we waited but it did affect the overall experience. My guest ordered the ribs with fries and coleslaw. The ribs were well-prepared--tender with a clean pull off the bone--and were probably the highlight of the meal. The fries were also very good and came out hot. The coleslaw wasn't as well received, described as having too many of the tougher parts of the cabbage. Overall, the experience had some positives, especially in terms of atmosphere and certain menu items like the ribs and fries. While I did enjoy parts of the meal, it's not somewhere I would personally return to, but it may be worth trying once to form your own opinion.

First off, this place is a Fairfax staple for a reason. The iconic pink building is impossible to miss, and the outdoor patio is perfect for a nice evening out, while the inside is cozy, welcoming, and always has a great energy. It's the kind of spot that works for everything: a casual weeknight dinner, a weekend brunch with friends, a game day watch party, or even a date night. Now for the food--chef's kiss all around. Everything we've tried here is consistently delicious: their shrimp appetizer is crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, and the cheese dip is creamy, cheesy, and addictive. Their burgers are juicy and cooked to perfection, the seafood dishes are fresh and well-prepared, and their salads are fresh and loaded with toppings. The portions are generous, the prices are totally fair, and every dish is made with high-quality ingredients. The service here is also next-level, just like the reviews say. Our servers (shoutout to Jun and Collin, who are absolute rockstars!) are friendly, attentive, and go above and beyond to make sure you have a great meal. They're quick to refill drinks, check in regularly, and make great menu recommendations, even when the place is packed. If you're in Fairfax and looking for a reliable, delicious spot with amazing food and service, run, don't walk, to Ozzie's Good Eats.
