We are so lucky to have 3 Silver Diners in the Tysons/Reston/Merrifield area. Our Tysons Corner store is very well managed by Ali and Niron and great servers like Roza and Johan and sweet take out team led by Natalie, supported by Valentina and Aly. The Eggs Benedict are always perfect as well as the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs. Fish and Chips, Reubens, Meatloaf, and Fresh Turkey are always excellent.

Silver diner always seems to be a hit or miss for me. I think I've cracked the formula for myself though. Whenever I go now I always get the tomato basil soup and so far I've been happy. This time I also got the bruschetta, I didn't care for the cheese it came with but the rest was delicious. I will note that it's usually loud and difficult to get ahold of somebody when you need them.

We arrived 15 minutes before closing, and all we wanted was a little dessert. Instead of telling us to kick rocks, they sat us at the counter and sated my late night sweet tooth. The chocolate cake was a little on the sweet side, but beggars can't be choosers when it's close to midnight. 5 stars for friendliness and service. We were in and out in 11 minutes flat, and back in our car 4 minutes before closing. Incredible.

The best part of this visit was the service. Samir did an awesome job taking care of my table. I was seated quickly and had high hopes. The diner has a cool retro interior and was well staffed. I ordered and quickly had my shake, I got the S'mores flavored one and it was tasty. I got the Smash Burger and it was very disappointing. First off, it's not a smash burger. If it was, they need to do a better job of training the kitchen how to smash it. It was just a small burger. The bun was way too dense, and the fries were limp and undercooked. I left about half my meal on the plate. Great service, cool venue, subpar food.

Came here for dinner one night and it was pretty quiet. There were a lot of open tables. Our waiter was probably below average we had to ask for a lot of things, including silverware, water, the check, etc.. I thought the food was also very average and I thought I could make a better sandwich at home. Not sure I would want to come back again.

It was my first time at Silver Diner, recommended by a friend. The place was pretty packed during brunch and quite noisy with people chatting and a baby crying. After we were seated, no one came by with water or menus for the first 10 minutes, which was a bit frustrating. The food, however, was not what I expected from a typical diner--it was surprisingly healthy, local, and fresh. I especially enjoyed the fruit; the strawberries were sweet, better than what you usually find at grocery stores.

I would just like to start with this is 100% my bad. I hail from New Jersey... The land of diners... So I went into this diner just ordering my usual not thinking much of it. That was until I got the bill and saw that two eggs bacon and breakfast potatoes with a side of fruit cost $19 lol. And that wasn't including tip yet. In Jersey that would've been an $8 breakfast, maybe $10. I'm not knocking the establishment, I'm more so knocking my naïvety not realizing where I was and that things are just not priced normally in the area haha. So that's not saying I'll never come back. The atmosphere was great, the staff was even better, and the food was delicious! I'll just be more prepared with my wallet next time. So word to the wise if you're coming from out of town... Remember where you are lol. Do as I say not as I do lol. Gotta love DC. Thank you, Silver Diner for the delicious breakfast!

Great ingredients, great vibe, and great staff. Location was very convenient to my hotel. Love the vintage feel. Customer service was outstanding. Don't miss out on this gem.

The service was okay. The food was fair. There wasn't anything overwhelming or delicious about it.

For the longest time, my son refused to come to Silver Diner. Maybe it was the service or the food but now he is older, his tastes are much more refind & adult-like. Don't get me wrong, he still likes some kids foods but he is appreciating what the adults eat. That's good and bad. Good that he is trying new and more complex meals but bad, it's more expensive. We were greeted and seated within a couple minutes. The server was attentive and efficient with our drinks (water) & our order. This evening, my son iis having Surf & Turf (Scallops & Tenderloin medallions). I am having the Flat Iron Steak. Mine came with a soup or salad and I opted with the salad. When it came out it had tomatoes along with different greens, croutons, parm cheese and caesar dressing. It was good. Our food came out later. The Flat Iron steak was ordered medium rare but it was more rare. I won't complain cause at least it isn't over cooked. See photo. I opted out of bleu cheese butter. The steak was seasoned well on the outside. The mash potatoes, spinach and heavenly fried onions were delicious. My son's tenderloins were a bit overcooked (ordered medium rare but it was more medium-medium well). They were still good. He ate it without fuss. The scallops were not cooked enough so they were on the rare side which was disappointing and tasted fishy. Oh well. He loved the fries and spinach. Overall, the items on the menus are more expensive and fancier than traditional diners, but Silver Diner isn't a normal diner. It's got upscale items and of higher quality. The execution of the food still needs to improve but the service has improved. We'll be back...

I was intrigued by the pastrami sandwich options on the menu and really appreciated that gluten free bread was an option, so I had to try it! I was not disappointed at all. The sandwich was hefty - packed with meat, and flavorful. I'm not sure I liked the pile of salad that comes on the side - it's a lot to finish for one person and seems a bit wasteful. The service was good, but the sandwiches did take a bit longer than expected to come out. That might not be the case for other dishes though. I would certainly visit again!

But driving by on weekends, and seeing the crowds bursting out the door, we deferred visiting the Vienna Carnegie Diner. Instead, on our first time, we came midday on a weekday and there weren't that many people and we were seated immediately. Overall, service was fine, though a bit in disarray because we had two different servers ask if we were ready to order. We both ordered the very good Chicken Salad sandwich. It's huge and really makes for two meals. It comes with very decent fries and an excellent side salad that has been drizzled with two different tasty dressings. We saw lentil soup on the menu, and if it's like the lentil soup at the Carnegie Diners in NYC, I highly recommend it. We absolutely will be back.

We were there for brunch on a Saturday. We shared the skillet cornbread and deviled eggs and agreed they were excellent, but the deviled eggs were top-notch. For entrees we had a brisket bennie, brisket hash, and fried chicken and biscuits. Everyone said their dish was the best dish. I had the fried chicken - just the right honey and heat, and the biscuits were fluffy, buttery heaven. We were stuffed but Jorge and Matt (one of the owners) dropped off a complimentary order of apple donuts with raspberry jam. I shouldn't be surprised but the chunks of real apple in the donuts - wow. I don't know how they serve food this good in a location this beautiful and such reasonable prices. I guarantee, though, we'll be back for dinner and be regular customers in the future.

As always seems to be the case, this place is run by a restaurant group, because I have yet to see a small independent establishment pull this nonsense. Food is passable albeit not great. Just note that in the name of "transparency" the prices are hiding the actual costs behind this fee. If you want to round it out to 20% with a tip, at least the fee tells you exactly how much that is. I have to assume the 10% fee is going to increased wages because that's what I82 is about. If the restaurant group is pocketing any of that balance then they are just stealing from their staff, which might explain why the staff is not upfront about the rationale for the fee.

When I think of 29, I think of the area I often drive, Columbia to Silver Spring, MD stretch of 29, but I don't think about the long highway in Virginia, which cuts across Arlington, Fairfax County to SW Virginia (Lynchburg) & into Carolinas. I visited Metro 29 Diner twice. December 2021 was pretty good experience, and March 2022 was not so good; so kind of a mixed bag overall. Metro 29 is a subpar version of Silver Diner. In my opinion, just go down the road from here to Ballston for Silver Diner. On Saturday, December 4, 2021, a Meetup group was meeting here for brunch, and I was determined to drive across DC to get over to Arlington for brunch with this Meetup group for a White Elephant gift exchange. I knew one person. Ended up with some candles I never ended up using. I met a few new friends here, who I mainly lost touch with, but still barely in touch with Walt. Service was pretty good for our large group. I ended up getting a corned hash omelet and hash brown, which were both very good. The funny thing was the organizer of the Meetup group, an older gentleman, was trying to be friendly with the Hispanic server trying to speak Spanish to her. The problem was he kept calling her Abuela. Abuela means grandma! The 2nd visit was on Saturday, March 5, 2022. My friend from that same Meetup wanted to play Catan, and I was in this general direction. We agreed to meet for dinner at Metro 29. It was pretty busy and wasn't conducive for a game as the table wasn't that big, and we didn't want to take up a spot at a busy time. Her office was across the street from here, so we ate & gamed at her office. Service was unmemorable. Food was kind of mediocre; I think I might have gotten some sandwich. I'm pretty sure my friend got a burger. My friend was charged like 75 cents for the lettuce on the burger. My friend thought it was absolutely ridiculous, and I frankly agreed with her on this one. Totally bogus they would charge for the lettuce on a burger. My friend is a harsher critic of restaurants than I am typically. Like my 4-star review might be a 2-star, and in this case my 3-star might be a dreaded 1-star for her. She exclaimed to me never coming back here again. I'm not going to go that far, but I'd need some catalyst to get me over to Arlington (which I was there 4 days ago) but is rare; I feel there are many better eating options in Arlington, but I wouldn't completely rule out Metro 29 diner if someone was strongly pushing for it, I'd just go along but not one I'd go out of my way for.
