Bacon, Ham Or Sausages
Naa Adoley A.

Metro 29 is such a cute little diner and we had the best breakfast here this morning. It was a week day so the diner felt extra cozy as there were not that many people and the vibe was a lot more leisurely than the weekend. That definitely contributed to our positive experience we think as from the moment My boyfriend and I stopped in, everything from the food to the service was such a great experience. He ordered the crab cake Benedict and loved it. The eggs were poached perfectly and it was just an all around really solid dish. The home fries were a little underdone, but honestly it didn't take away from how much he enjoyed his meal. I got the French toast with strawberries and whipped cream and added a side of sausage and bacon. It was exactly what I wanted and the bacon was perfectly crispy. As a picky eater I feel like I'm never satisfied by other people's bacon so this made me so happy! The service really made this place stand out. Our waitress was amazing, my boyfriend's coffee cup was never empty, and she even took the time to tell me the most cost efficient way to order, which I genuinely appreciated. You can tell she really cared and knew the menu well. The sweetest part was that she overheard us talking about my boyfriend's birthday and surprised him with a cake and singing. It was such a thoughtful moment and made our morning! We'll definitely be back.

It's been awhile since I ate here. Excellent service, clean, comfortable seating. My club sandwich was huge but delicious. Thank goodness for to go boxes. Fries were warm and crispy. They have so many fabulous desserts. I could eat them all. I would love to come back for breakfast.

Pretty expensive for a diner. The food came out a little cold. The potatoes were slightly undercooked as well. When you leave spending over $45+ dollars for breakfast it feels like you shouldn't have any trouble. Service was elite and quick, we went on New years and all of the staff was very friendly. They all had New Years stuff on! The diner felt as if you stepped back in time. Loved the reflective siding everywhere! They did have a bar for those who like a morning mimosas. The signage and atmosphere felt like you were stepping back in time. This was featured on DDD. The Challah Bread French Toast was the highlight of the meal. Very good and what brought this place up to a 3 star.

This is a great classic diner! Everything by you would expect out of a classic diner, an experience you don't get much anymore. I met up with a friend for breakfast and the menu had all the greatest hits and I got the veggie omelet which came with hashbrowns and toast. Can't complain about the authentic mom and pop feel and good service.

Went there for lunch today, the service was great again and the food was delicious. Great place.

Maybe the best old school diner in the Arlington/ Alexandria area not faking the authenticity. Large portions with great flavors, quick and polite service. Smaller menu than most diners but still has all your staples and more.

Oh! Didn't realize I'd been here before... I see I've had the Smoked Salmon Benedict haha. I don't remember it at all. Pretty standard diner fare. Very busy, very loud, parking lot gets packed. Food is what you'd expect. Potatoes need salt, but aren't too greasy. The omelette is cooked well, but needs salt. The sausage that I added wasn't that great. The potatos were good-- not too dry, but had to eat it with ketchup. The toast was nice and buttery. Service is quick. Prices are very fair.

Classic modern "diner" in my old neighborhood. I thought they used to have jukeboxes but maybe that's my imagination. I was in the mood for a late breakfast, so I tried the eggs Benedict. Great poached eggs! The potatoes were excellent too.

Bacon crispy? Yes, please!

As much as I'd like to try the other diners around, Metro 29 is quickly becoming my go-to - it's already my son's favorite for their silver dollar pancakes. I was thinking of giving this place 4 stars initially since the food wasn't exceptional, but - staff were super friendly, welcoming, and efficient...coffee always topped off if we wanted it - very clean looking - food came out fairly quick both times we dined here and nicely presented - plenty of parking, though it could be a bit challenging for busier times...but wait isn't long All those things combined with the fact that service is still top notch regardless of how busy they are, earn them a 5 star in my book. Ham steak - really tender for ham Bacon - My wife was asked if she wanted it crispy, to which she replied an emphatic yes, and they were indeed crispy! I'd like to try the other diners around, but it'd be hard not to go back to this one.

Came here for breakfast but really enjoyed their baked goods. Ordered the bread pudding and it was amazing. Everything is baked in house which I love! The service is great and welcoming and your coffee cup will always be filled. If you're looking for a great diner with wonderfully baked goods, then give them a try.

I came here off the recommendation of a few coworkers and so far they're 0/2 for the food recommendations. First with the good, the service was fast and friendly. Love that. The diner looked pretty clean even though we got there just after a lunch rush I'm sure. The food was cooked perfectly; everything was the right color, temperature and consistency but unfortunately everything on mine and my bfs plate completely lacked in flavor. I'm talking simple salt and pepper- there was none. If you have dietary restrictions and like to season your food once you receive it at your table maybe you'll appreciate the lack of seasoning but it wasn't for me. I love diner food. Not a lot of fancy extras, just good tasty food- sorry to say this missed the mark for me.

Breakfast options are pretty standard and what you expect from a dinner. There was plenty of parking. Our server was attentive and split the bill for our party's convenience. I got a coffee which was decent but a little on the pricier side that I would expect from a diner and an egg sandwich. Cheese was extra. Bagel was also extra my bad for misreading: Sandwiches on Bagel, Pita or English Muffin 1.50¢ extra That sandwiches come on something else, and bagels are part of the extra list. Oh well! It was a fine sandwich. For a diner, it hit what I needed - quick and reasonably priced. There wasn't anything outstanding about it, but it had some decent breakfast fares.

My girlfriend and I went here for dinner recently…read more Ambiance is on point with a very fun bee/ honey theme. They had a cute outdoor seating space, however it was cold and rainy so we couldn't sit there. We had the fried green tomatoes, snd both got the salmon with two sides of your choice. I got Brussels sprouts and potatoes. She got Mac and cheese and salad. The salmon was perfectly cooked and potatoes were crispy and salty on the outside and creamy potato on the inside. Yum!! We sat there until they were sweeping around our feet and they were very nice about it even then. I rarely close down a place these days, so I was grateful they were accommodating.

Let me start with the good. Our waitress, Samika, greeted us…read morewith a smile and took great care of us. She was attentive, friendly, and kept things moving. The wait wasn't long, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. They also offer a Monday-Friday happy hour from 4 PM to 6 PM, which is worth noting. Now that we've covered the positives... I came with my family, as we usually go out to eat on Sundays after church. I ordered the shrimp and grits, my sister had the dark‑meat chicken with fries, that unfortunately had to be switched when they brought her the wrong white meat, chicken and fries. My granddaughter got sausage and grits. There are no pictures of the food because I don't recommend you come here if you're looking for real southern food. I personally won't be back and won't waste storage space on disappointment. The shrimp and grits....the portion was so small, I thought they accidentally brought me the sample plate. It should honestly be listed under "Kids Menu". The menu says it comes with chorizo pork sausage, but instead of sliced pieces like normal restaurants, it was crumbled so tiny I thought it was seasoning dust. When I asked about it, they told me it's "put in very small so you don't know it's there." Well... congratulations. Mission accomplished. You get six shrimp, and they claim the dish is "spicy". Please, the spice level was somewhere between tap water and air. Then there was the chicken dish. I tasted it, and my sister will give you the full breakdown in her own review. The skin had a nice honey flavor, I'll give them that. But once you get past the skin, the chicken was out here playing hide‑and‑seek with the seasoning. Completely bland. The fries were fine, not great, not terrible, just fries. Now, the bathroom: I was unimpressed. When you walk in, there were paper towels on the floor and toilet paper in places it shouldn't be. The handicap stall does have a baby‑changing table and some extra paper towel and tissue supplies, which is helpful. However, the toilet seat covers in the handicap stall need to be replaced, even though the other stall had some available. Overall, the restroom did not feel well‑maintained. Great service can't make up for food and facilities that simply don't deliver. This was a disappointing visit, and I won't be back.

When we made the reservation in advance, we called to ask if happy hour was everywhere or just at the bar; they said everywhere, so we booked a table. Plot twist, it's only at the bar / downstairs :))) We arrived 15 minutes early, so while they got our table ready, we ordered at the bar. 5 stars for the bartender. If I could review her, the host, and the happy hour prices in isolation, I would! They moved us upstairs, we sat down, and immediately saw the menus were different. We asked the gentleman bringing waters about happy hour and he sent the waiter over. The waiter, with about 2% helpfulness, shared that happy hour is only downstairs. I mentioned that we had called in advance to ask. We asked if it would be possible to have that menu or perhaps move. The conversation felt like pulling teeth. He said, with much dismissiveness, it was up to the host downstairs to move and if they had availability and left. (Fair, we move, he doesn't get his tip. An alternative? Give us the happy hour menu, still get your tip. Better yet, just be slightly helpful?) The host downstairs found us a table but shared it was booked at 6:15 so we needed to be in and out. It was no problem because we had arrived before 5 (early, remember?). Although, it took 15 minutes (I timed it!) for anyone to come bring waters or address us as their table. A little hard to operate with urgency when no one takes your order!! I got up, told the host stand, and they sent a server over, and he proceeded to come back all of three times. We also had to flag him down to get our check, while we sat with empty waters that were never once refilled. We had pizza, cod sliders, and half orders of aglio e olio pasta. The cod sliders were more breadding than fish, but the flavor was decent. The pasta was delicious. No five star Italian meal, but it hit the spot and the portion was plentiful. I didn't try the pizza but it was 12 inches, piping hot, and the two eating it couldn't finish it. The food came out quickly and hot. I think we spent under or just about $100 for four folks to have dinner + drinks, so the prices are really solid. Perhaps you get what you pay for though? Both of our male servers seemed annoyed to be dealing with us and mostly unhelpful. Noteworthy mention: there was a female server who was kind enough to bring us a brown paper bag for our to go box. She was running around and her tables seemed well cared for. Disappointed in my experience and the customer service.

A very nice touch to add a stem of Rose for the women. I would say that I gave it a lower star rating not because the food was bad. It was actually delicious, but probably the experience itself. The restaurant felt chaotic, and even though all the tables were not completely packed of course there were flowers everywhere people gathering with grandmother's mother's children, etc We were seated in a two people table and all the top past dishes started to pile up very quickly. Instead of monitoring, the progress of the finished dishes and removing those dishes due to space constraint, the dishes came from the kitchen, almost on top of one another, and at one point I had to hold a dish in my hand in order to make space to put a dish on top of another flatbread pan/dish, making things super chaotic. Also dishes had to be put on top of the menu because in order to order additional food, you need to leave at least one copy of the menu at the table. Overall, again the flavors and taste were good, though I might have had similar dishes from other places, and my partner commented that some of it is actually very close to the Capital One landing at DCA. I would just say that it was more due to the chaos and just the way that all the dishes piled up on top of us we felt like we were we had to eat super quickly so that we could stack dishes ourselves and create room at the table. Also, when serving the dishes were not kept level and basically was slide to the side of the dish, making presentation off
