Classic diner right by the Kings St/Old Town Metro. Reminded me of the diners I used to go to in Jersey. Seat yourself at a booth, tables, or bar. We were able to get a booth within 2 minutes of walking in on a Saturday around 11:30am. Fairly quick service. We ordered a Patty Melt which came with fries and Two Eggs & Bacon (which came with hash browns or home fries as well as toast or English muffin). We went with homefries which are shredded with crispiness on the outside. I read other reviews and I agree it is a bit odd that they only butter one slice of toast, so you get one slice saturated in delicious butter, but the other slice is dry. Maybe they think someone will eat it like a sandwich? Overall food was good, a bit greasy. They take credit cards but charge a 3% charge to use them, so recommend cash if you have it. They also have an ATM available.

This Bob & Edith's location is conveniently located for us, and the fact that they have a small lot in the back gives it some extra points! They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day, and it's open 24 hours. Our usual orders are: +the 8 oz. Ribeye Steak dinner - comes with 2 choice sides and a roll; mashed potatoes and corn (if available) are our go-to sides with extra gravy; the roll is always stale and forgettable +their Signature Country Fried Steak - usually opt for the brown gravy; corn, potato salad, and mashed potatoes with gravy are usually the go-to sides; the country fried steak is nicely-fried with a great batter and more on the salty end I have also tried their burger, which is just okay, and wouldn't order again. The brown gravy can be inconsistent, as it could sometimes have an off/chemical-like taste to it. Prices are definitely on the higher/steep end, considering it's a diner. Service is friendly, and the space is extremely bright. There are both tables, booth, and counter seating. The place does get packed random times throughout the day/night, so there may be a bit of a wait. +Signature Country Fried Steak +inconsistent brown gravy +free parking lot in the rear

Went here for brunch early Saturday afternoon. There was no wait and we were starving so that was great. There isn't a whole lot of seating in the dining area so if you're bringing a few people with you try to come early. We parked on a garage area down the street but heard someone mention a parking lot behind the restaurant. Our waitress came out, greeted us quickly and took our orders. I ordered a daily special with blueberry pancakes, turkey sausage and scrambled eggs. It was pretty good for a breakfast spot. The French toast looked pretty good and they also have chocolate chip pancakes. Although it wasn't particularly flavorful, it got the job done and satisfied a breakfast craving. I'd recommend for a quick bite or maybe late at night if you want a diner experience outside of IHOP. I'd give this place another try and get something different.

Busy, small place. Efficient service. Basic breakfast options are all done well. Veggie omelette, very basic, but done nicely. Potatoes served crispy as requested. They are good about keeping your coffee cup full!

It's not the fanciest, but the food is consistent and you know what you'll get. I love the it's open 24/7, with free parking, and friendly staff. Inside is very well lit. Plenty of seating. To be honest, my go to is the half smoke with extra crispy fries, and they do it right. They always give me a menu but I never look at it because I know exactly what I want. My half smoke. My daughter got a waffle with blueberry compote , wife bacon and eggs, and son steak and cheese sub. We're never disappointed. Again, food is good and the quality is consistent.

Slower service but to be fair they were completely slammed. Only taking a star off because they don't have a good system for making sure everyone at a table gets all of their food. Pancakes were great and bacon was perfect!!!

I love Bob & Edith's Diner! It's VA's version of Waffle House in my opinion. For this visit I had the burger and fries. It was cooked well and the fries came out hot. The service is always quick and good. I took two girlfriend's with me and they enjoyed their meals as well! I really like the Crystal City location because they have free parking in the back.

Tourist spot!!! Service was excellent. Food was basic diner food nothing over the top. Dining area was pretty clean. Location is walking distance from the airport hotels... which is very convenient.

There is something special about an old fashioned diner. I don't know if its the bright lights, chrome furniture or the swivel seats at the counter, or the food deep fried or cooked on a flat top grill, but I love it. I ordered a tuna melt (not fancy but really tasty) and onion rings while my friend had a chicken sandwich and fries. The onion rings were thick cut but breaded, which were ok but I personally prefer battered. We split a piece of snickers pie, which was really good. Service was odd. He stood by the counter and seemed to be looking at us, but never came over to clear our plates and we finally went to him to ask about pie and again when we were ready to pay our bill.

Came here for brunch with my dad, my wife, and my best friend before my dad's flight out of DCA on Juneteenth. My dad was nice to treat me and my wife for hosting him and my friend for driving him when the red line was closed and the shuttle that would have provided a faster shortcut downtown was closed due to the federal holiday. There was a wait inside despite decent seating, so we opted to go to the patio. Our first waitress came and took our coffee order but it was over 30 minutes without anyone returning to our table so my father went inside to talk to the manager. We had a second waitress who did not know who was serving our table before nor the manager. The service was faster but the second waitress still was forgetting to bring enough cream for my dad's coffee. The food was really good and fresh. Better than expected and definitely for the low prices for food anywhere inside the beltway. My wife and I shared Fresh Blueberry Hotcakes and a Cheeseburger Omelet. If we return to this location or others we will for sure not be in a hurry to get anywhere due to the inexcusable slow service our first time.

They had a cute outdoor seating space, however it was cold and rainy so we couldn't sit there. We had the fried green tomatoes, snd both got the salmon with two sides of your choice. I got Brussels sprouts and potatoes. She got Mac and cheese and salad. The salmon was perfectly cooked and potatoes were crispy and salty on the outside and creamy potato on the inside. Yum!! We sat there until they were sweeping around our feet and they were very nice about it even then. I rarely close down a place these days, so I was grateful they were accommodating.

The wait wasn't long, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. They also offer a Monday-Friday happy hour from 4 PM to 6 PM, which is worth noting. Now that we've covered the positives... I came with my family, as we usually go out to eat on Sundays after church. I ordered the shrimp and grits, my sister had the dark‑meat chicken with fries, that unfortunately had to be switched when they brought her the wrong white meat, chicken and fries. My granddaughter got sausage and grits. There are no pictures of the food because I don't recommend you come here if you're looking for real southern food. I personally won't be back and won't waste storage space on disappointment. The shrimp and grits....the portion was so small, I thought they accidentally brought me the sample plate. It should honestly be listed under "Kids Menu". The menu says it comes with chorizo pork sausage, but instead of sliced pieces like normal restaurants, it was crumbled so tiny I thought it was seasoning dust. When I asked about it, they told me it's "put in very small so you don't know it's there." Well... congratulations. Mission accomplished. You get six shrimp, and they claim the dish is "spicy". Please, the spice level was somewhere between tap water and air. Then there was the chicken dish. I tasted it, and my sister will give you the full breakdown in her own review. The skin had a nice honey flavor, I'll give them that. But once you get past the skin, the chicken was out here playing hide‑and‑seek with the seasoning. Completely bland. The fries were fine, not great, not terrible, just fries. Now, the bathroom: I was unimpressed. When you walk in, there were paper towels on the floor and toilet paper in places it shouldn't be. The handicap stall does have a baby‑changing table and some extra paper towel and tissue supplies, which is helpful. However, the toilet seat covers in the handicap stall need to be replaced, even though the other stall had some available. Overall, the restroom did not feel well‑maintained. Great service can't make up for food and facilities that simply don't deliver. This was a disappointing visit, and I won't be back.

When we made the reservation in advance, we called to ask if happy hour was everywhere or just at the bar; they said everywhere, so we booked a table. Plot twist, it's only at the bar / downstairs :))) We arrived 15 minutes early, so while they got our table ready, we ordered at the bar. 5 stars for the bartender. If I could review her, the host, and the happy hour prices in isolation, I would! They moved us upstairs, we sat down, and immediately saw the menus were different. We asked the gentleman bringing waters about happy hour and he sent the waiter over. The waiter, with about 2% helpfulness, shared that happy hour is only downstairs. I mentioned that we had called in advance to ask. We asked if it would be possible to have that menu or perhaps move. The conversation felt like pulling teeth. He said, with much dismissiveness, it was up to the host downstairs to move and if they had availability and left. (Fair, we move, he doesn't get his tip. An alternative? Give us the happy hour menu, still get your tip. Better yet, just be slightly helpful?) The host downstairs found us a table but shared it was booked at 6:15 so we needed to be in and out. It was no problem because we had arrived before 5 (early, remember?). Although, it took 15 minutes (I timed it!) for anyone to come bring waters or address us as their table. A little hard to operate with urgency when no one takes your order!! I got up, told the host stand, and they sent a server over, and he proceeded to come back all of three times. We also had to flag him down to get our check, while we sat with empty waters that were never once refilled. We had pizza, cod sliders, and half orders of aglio e olio pasta. The cod sliders were more breadding than fish, but the flavor was decent. The pasta was delicious. No five star Italian meal, but it hit the spot and the portion was plentiful. I didn't try the pizza but it was 12 inches, piping hot, and the two eating it couldn't finish it. The food came out quickly and hot. I think we spent under or just about $100 for four folks to have dinner + drinks, so the prices are really solid. Perhaps you get what you pay for though? Both of our male servers seemed annoyed to be dealing with us and mostly unhelpful. Noteworthy mention: there was a female server who was kind enough to bring us a brown paper bag for our to go box. She was running around and her tables seemed well cared for. Disappointed in my experience and the customer service.

A very nice touch to add a stem of Rose for the women. I would say that I gave it a lower star rating not because the food was bad. It was actually delicious, but probably the experience itself. The restaurant felt chaotic, and even though all the tables were not completely packed of course there were flowers everywhere people gathering with grandmother's mother's children, etc We were seated in a two people table and all the top past dishes started to pile up very quickly. Instead of monitoring, the progress of the finished dishes and removing those dishes due to space constraint, the dishes came from the kitchen, almost on top of one another, and at one point I had to hold a dish in my hand in order to make space to put a dish on top of another flatbread pan/dish, making things super chaotic. Also dishes had to be put on top of the menu because in order to order additional food, you need to leave at least one copy of the menu at the table. Overall, again the flavors and taste were good, though I might have had similar dishes from other places, and my partner commented that some of it is actually very close to the Capital One landing at DCA. I would just say that it was more due to the chaos and just the way that all the dishes piled up on top of us we felt like we were we had to eat super quickly so that we could stack dishes ourselves and create room at the table. Also, when serving the dishes were not kept level and basically was slide to the side of the dish, making presentation off
