My husband wanted a waffle so we stopped here before leaving the area. It was about 1pm on a Sunday, there were people sitting outside but we were able to get a table inside. The restaurant gives old school diner vibes. The menu had plenty of options. I got the french toast breakfast with beef sausage link and added a side of grits. My husband got the chicken and waffles. It took a little while for the food to come out since it's made to order and it's a smaller establishment. My husband's wings did Not look like the picture from the menu which had whole chicken wings on a waffle. He got the wingettes that typically come from the frozen appetizer section of the grocery store. He did enjoy his waffle though. My French toast was ok. The grit were super runny and for the cheese in them it was a a piece of the pre wrapped slices. Definitely could've used a spoon to eat them but the waiter did not come back to check on us for a while so I tried to make it work. We had order sodas to drink and were brought a can, I thought it would be a fountain drink but we made it work. I also thought the beef link sausage was going to be a half smoke but it was regular breakfast links just beef instead of pork. They tasted ok. It was kinda pricey for an average diner style breakfast. If you want just waffle and eggs not a bad place to go.

I've driven by this Arlandria restaurant many times over the years, intrigued by the apparent misspelling of Waffle on its awning. It appears as "Wafle Shop". So yesterday, I decided to finally give it a try. Wafle Shop is very small with only 5 or 6 tables, with all but one occupied when I arrived. It's clean enough inside but certainly has a gritty feel. This eatery definitely caters to the nearby Salvadorean residents. A Spanish-language telenovela was playing on the TV. The waitresses were Latina and all the customers were Latino men (but for me). So now, I'm not sure that Wafle is a misspelling, but instead the Spanish version of the word. Wafle Shop has a big menu. Of course they have lots of waffles, but they have lunch/dinner items too. I ordered my default breakfast entrée: country fried steak. The home fries were original to me: thinly sliced potatoes with butter and a golden crust, like scalloped potatoes. The country-fried steak was pretty good but had a bit of a gamey flavor. This is a fairly standard diner, but because the waitresses were so nice and friendly, I gotta add a star to this review.

Little hole in the wall hidden gem . Came with my kids and we loved it. Self-seating and very small on the inside but they have patio seating too. Here's what we ordered: *French Toast ($10) - decent price for a hefty portion of food. Comes with powdered sugar. Delicious too. *French Toast w/ eggs and meat ($14) - again, good portions and very filling *waffle w/ eggs and meat - waffle was a 10/10 delicious, sausage was tasty and eggs were scrambled just right *kid pancakes w/ meat and substituted the eggs for fries: loved the fries, the pancakes were larger than we expected which was wonderful and they made them into Mickey Mouse shape *fruit bowl - huge bowl of fruit, including banana, strawberries and blueberries. Was enough for 3 people to share *Peach Jumex - they give you the can with a cup of ice Overall great experience. Food came out super quick, everyone was kind and for 4 people total came to about $50 for a full meal, and we had leftovers. Will definitely be back!

Decided to come here for breakfast on the weekend. It's not a big place by any means, so if you go during peak hours you might end up having to sit outside. Ended up getting a western omelette with potatoes and the kid got his usual burger. No complaints about either, the portion sizes were great and everything was made to order so that was nice. Um, yeah, that's about it. Nice family owned establishment that's been in the family for years. Check it out.

This tiny hitw place delivers yummy comfort food at good prices, with a kind staff. Fried chicken on the chicken waffles does not disappoint.

A hidden gem in Alexandria, the Waffle Shop delivers classic comfort with refined execution. The waffles are perfectly crisped, the coffee is robust, and the service is attentive without being overbearing. There's a timeless charm to the atmosphere--unpretentious, yet warmly welcoming. Ideal for a leisurely brunch or a quiet morning indulgence. A true local treasure.

Love small businesses. I was in the area and popped in for breakfast. I ordered the fruit waffle and my partner ordered the steak and eggs. The service was prompt and friendly. My waffle was filled with fresh fruit. I've never had such a generous serving of fruit. The waffle was just right. We both enjoyed our meal and would stop in again.

One Sunday, I have been craving waffles. Well, technically, I had been craving waffles for days. Quick google search for waffles in Virginia pulled up The Waffle Shop. Located in the North Del Ray, this restaurant is from another era. Back in the 1950s, Waffle Shop was a DC-era diner chain offering 24-hour dining. There were once a dozen locations through the area, this location on the corner of Russell Road and Mount Vernon Ave is the last remaining one. Waffle Shop is like walking into a time machine. The decor still has the art Deco style featuring a lot of stainless steel. I was excited to have discovered a new/old restaurant. Once I arrived, I realized that I had been there before in my 20s. I ordered a combo with waffles, (BEEF) bacon, and eggs. If you read my post regarding Burger 7, you already know how I feel about beef bacon. Here at the Waffle Shop, they asked if I wanted it crispy. Absolutely was my response. I had my eggs scrambled hard with cheese, which was delicious, but the crowning jewel of this meal was my waffle. It was made with a great batter, served fresh, light, and crispy and I had it decorated with strawberries and chocolate. The service is amazing, friendly, fast, and smiling. I was able to get in and out under an hour. I left happy, full, and with another #dreaminsing experience. Dine-in and takeout options are available!

My boyfriend and I came here at right around 8:30 for a rise & shine breakfast! The day is already wonderful, even at this hour, so we opted to take a table on their outdoor patio. We weren't the only people who had the same idea, and this place was busy as all get out! The e entire patio, and most of the indoor tables were full. After checking out their menu, I decided to goor the breakfast platter. It included two eggs with bacon and scrapple. I always add ketchup to my eggs and it was absolutely wonderful. The platter also included their home fries and toast. My boyfriend went for his favorite which was pancakes nutella with a side of bacon. There is a full staff of Servers, and we were fortunate to have on of their best Servers! Everything about this restaurant was pure deliciousness!

He was in the mood for Lahmacun (sounds like Lahamajoun) super thin, crispy pizza topped with a mixture of minced meat with peppers, tomato, herbs, and spices. More fine, light, and delicate than the typical American thin pizza. The service, drinks, and food were beyond stellar in Narman. We felt like the only customers there and were waited on by many staff. The highlight of the day there was their pizza and their beverage presentation and flavors. We came on a weekday night and were the only people there in the end. My husband was impressed at how upscale the restaurant was and it was the finest Turkish restaurant he ever visited. He said it was similar to the hotel dining place he lived at in Turkey. This was our first restaurant in downtown Alexandria and one of our best experiences in Alexandria. The Lahmacun was the finest Turkish pizza my husband ever had. He ordered three of them! Each pizza was served on a large wood board with extra toppings on the side like lemon wedges, cilantro, and onions. They are so fine and thin that you can roll them up to eat. We had to put some of the last pizza aside for take out. I ate the takeout piece and was very impressed how delicious it was after being in the fridge overnight & re-heated. I loved the flavors of the Lahmacun and I don't even care for pizza that much. It is my most preferred pizza in my life ever next to the Crazy Ex in The Thirsty Goat in Clarksville, Tennessee. I ordered a Turkish dish with a rich and ancient history, Hunkar Begendi, or "Sultan's Delight." It dates back several centuries, and it was prepared for the sultans and high-ranking officials, and was served during special occasions and celebrations. The Hunkar Begendi had lamb and velvet soft eggplant with spices. I ordered it with a side of rice. It was very delicious and unique. Yet the Lahmacun despite its simplicity stole the show and cost 1/3 of the price of the Hunkar Begendi. For my beverage, I ordered The Elma. It has a stunning presentation in a smoke filled glass box. The Elma is a beverage with Bourbon, Peach liquor, vanilla maple, Apple butter,Lemon juice, and Apple cider. You have to watch the videos of how it is presented at the table. At the end of our dinner, they played happy birthday and surprised my husband with an ice cream and pumpkin dessert with a candle. So wonderful & heartfelt. It was a fascinating and flavorful dish. The pumpkin tasted like sweet potato & was different. This is a must see place for Turkish cuisine and the finest restaurant service. Prices are low to fair for such high quality food and service. Five Stars.

We were seated inside, which had a decent amount of seating. I thought the restaurant was cute, and it had a nice ambience. We ordered several dishes, starting with the cajun crawfish Mac & cheese, crab stuffed oysters, and charred spring vegetables. All 3 starters were delicious, with my favorite being the crab stuffed oysters. The Mac & cheese was a close second - it was nicely seasoned and perfectly au dente. The vegetables were also very good, and the pita it came with was great. On the breakfast menu, we ordered the chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits. Both were very good. I haven't had many chicken and waffles, but the chicken was tasty with the hot honey. The shrimp and grits was very flavorful. If I had to pick one though, I would probably pick the shrimp and grits. The service was solid, she was very friendly and came back a decent number of times. I would 100% come back again!

We walked in and were blessed to immediately get a table despite being told it may be an hour wait on the phone. We received a menu and ordered the breakfast burrito and the biscuits and gravy. Our food came extremely fast which surprised me and makes me wonder how much is prepped ahead. My friend received the burrito and it was very greasy so she requested to order something else. My biscuits and gravy were yummy. The eggs were cooked well and the fried chicken was the star of the show. Easily this was some of the best chicken I have had in a while. I overall enjoyed my meal but I wish there was way more gravy as there was only a little bit layered on top of the 2 biscuits. My friend was given a menu to order something else and this menu was different and had dinner options. It was 4:30 when we came and not more than 15 minutes of difference before receiving a menu the second time so we were surprised but eager to look. My friend ordered the half chicken which came with collard greens and grits. Since there was a different menu I wasn't aware of I wanted to order something additional and opted for saving the brunch meal I ordered for breakfast tomorrow. I loveeee scallops so when I seen them on the menu especially over grits I had to order it. The scallops were cooked wonderfully and I loved the composition of the dish with the creamy grits and the acid from the tomatoes and the smokiness of the sauce and grits. My friend loved the half chicken and after trying it myself we both agreed Matt and Tony's knows how to cook chicken well. The greens had nice flavor but were a little dry and needed some broth/juice from cooking. Again the grits were delicious and creamy with a bit of smoky flavor. I also had the Peso Cocktail which was sweet with a nice kick. Overall I enjoyed this restaurant and would come again and absolute what I ordered again as well. Coming here next time will be hard cause I'm definitely going to be battling between wanting what I already had and trying something new.

All of the hip young girls in high school recommended this place to me and my friends and lets just say, they have never been more wrong. My girls and I went this weekend for a birthday brunch. I wanted a crepe, but when I saw it was 17 DOLLARS to slap some Nutella and strawberries on a piece of crepe is outrageous. I ordered a "Continental Breakfast," which, with tax and tip, cost me $30 DOLLARS. I wish you could have seen the look on my face when they gave me a plate of rabbit food. All 6 of us looked at the plate and laughed. Seriously, my 5 year old neice can eat 3 times as much of that in one sitting. So, in what world would that be enough food for a grown woman? My friend then went on to order the French toast for a grand total of $36 DOLLARS. Mind you, there was only one piece of toast, and the Inside was raw and soggy. Tasted like eating wet, soaked toilet paper. On top of the overpriced food and small portions, our "server" came to our table for a total of ONE SINGULAR TIME. My friend had also ordered a Chai Latte. Surprise, Surprise! It never came, and they still charged her for it. I think the nice man who brought us our food could see the look on our faces when we received our food, because he then brought us a free side of French fries. It is a huge problem when the french fries were the only sufficient thing I put in my mouth at this restaurant. I please, genuinely beg all of you to NOT waste your money. I promise there is anywhere else where you can get a crepe for double the size and half the cost. Once we left, we went down to Call Your Mother, the Jewish Deli, to get more food, as all of us left with our tummies still rumbling. Mind you, a full bagel sandwich and coffee cost HALF THE PRICE of one meal at Fontaine. Horrible. Mind you, it is 2 days later, and I am still thinking about this. I fully created a Yelp account just so I could leave a review. I think I would have a better experience eating an IHOP Continental breakfast than whatever I put in my mouth at this restaurant. Not worth the hype at all. Save your hard-earned cash and be a big baller elsewhere!
