A couple months ago, I started driving my mom to early, early morning church service (because she's hardcore and can't drive herself anymore) and then we head over to our local IHOP (because she needs to buy my love before 8am). They're open at 7am and we are always greeted warmly by Anthony. We've come enough times that he recognizes us. (Goodness, have I become an IHOP groupie?) Anthony is always attentive and pleasant despite being awake at some ungodly time (I'm assuming) to get to work. Today in particular, he stood out to me because he greeted one of his regular customers by name, which I've noticed he has many and they tend to be older adults. The gentleman was seated behind me and I heard Anthony offer him his usual drink to start the morning. The gentleman explained to Anthony that he lost his hat and was hoping it was here. Anthony immediately responded, "Is it the green or brown one you usually wear?" Seriously? How awesome that Anthony paid enough attention to notice that detail? Anthony checked, and it wasn't in lost and found. He asked the gentleman if he wanted to order anything to eat. Disappointed, the gentleman declined. In response, Anthony said, "well your drink is on me then." Thank you, mother diva, there are still kind people in the world. As for my breakfast, I've come to enjoy their avocado toast. Yeah, avocado toast. Toss a couple of over medium eggs on top, a side of turkey bacon and crispy hash browns, and my mom has successfully hooked me in to waking up at the crack of dawn next Sunday. I would've taken a picture but I wasn't quite awake enough to think about it. Oh, BTW, what does it for me are the roasted cherry tomatoes that they put on top of the avocado. Superb. My other go to breakfast that I recommend is the Rise and Shine breakfast - two eggs, two pieces of meat, crispy hash browns, and substitute the pancakes in for the toast. I was not having a good experience during my visit and went though 4 cups of coffee before my son could get his happy face pancake. To say I was annoyed is an understatement, u til the hostess and manager came over apologizing profusely for the long wait and were gracious enough to comp my bill. I never complained since I knew the kitchen was backed up but for them to still go out of their way to make sure my experience was a good one was very much appreciated. Full transparency, I worked for ihop while in HS. Not this location, but you get it. I'm a whole lotta years from that time now. Their food has definitely always been consistently good and I'd say they're always leveling up with the different toppings and fillings for what could otherwise be just typical breakfast fare (pancakes, French toast, etc). It was New Years Day (Welcome 2023) I ordered the new lemon ricotta topped French toast they have for a limited time, which comes with delicious hash browns, two eggs any way you want them, and I had mixed bacon and sausage, though you can have all of one kind of meat, and my kiddo got her usual 2x2x2 classic pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs with cheese. Was pretty crowded for 2pm on a Sunday which was kinda nice. Oj and cranberry juice were the typical (high) prices and had complimentary refills which was nice. Server was friendly and efficient and did an excellent job checking on us and anticipating refills, etc. Overall, a very nice trip. Food was freshly prepared and delivered hot to the table, and like I said earlier, tasted great definitely still the go to for great breakfast. I'll be back again. May have to try the happy hour. Haven't visited IHOP in years but when we heard that their focus was shifting towards burgers, that intrigued us. Thus, IHOB was born. Not to mention, a rare 4-star rating at the Brea location. So on one lazy Sunday morning, my hubby and I decided to pop by this IHOP and see what the hype was all about. I am a breakfast gal so I ordered the Breakfast Sampler ($12.99). My hubby is a burger aficionado so he ordered the classic Steak Burger deal for $6.99! Wow, talk about a steal. His combo came with a steak burger with all the fixins and bottomless fries and drink. Can't get a better value than that. My breakfast sampler was just as I remembered when I was young. It's everything you would want your diner breakfast to be. They also gave me a stainless steel coffee carafe for the table so that my coffee stays hot with every pour. How thoughtful! This was fantastic as I like my coffee extra hot. My hubby approved of his burger as well and said he would definitely come back to try the other burgers on the menu. Overall, we were pleasantly delighted with our visit to IHOP. Customer service was outstanding as well. I checked in to receive the $5 off a $25 order, which brought our meal to less than $20!
