Great place for breakfast at reasonably priced options and good seasonal menu options like Halloween themed pancakes for the kids

Got seated fairly quickly on a busy Saturday late morning, but it took over 15 minutes for the server to take our drink orders and 30 minutes for them to take our food order since being seated. The service was so bad; I understand that it is busy and stressful for them but we just felt completely ignored. :-( Food was just typical diner food. read more

I just wanted to update since the last post. Minette (I'm not sure if she was the owner or the manager) messaged me regarding my not so great experience dining at this IHOP. She went above and beyond to mail me a free meal pass to dine there again. My second experience was much better with the customer service. The server was friendly and she kept coming back to top off my coffee. I went back there again for the third time and I can honestly say I am a happy customer. IHOP is way better than Denny's. The worst customer service experience and coming from a manager. Better train your managers properly and teach them the customer service 101. We waited longer than what they promised we will be seated and when my wife asked if our table is ready, the MANAGER SAID "we gave it to someone else already because we thought it was your party". We asked him how did he know it was the right party, but his respond was rude and didn't even apologized to us. I normally would give this restaurant a 5 star review but a few things really caught my eye. 1st why wouldn't the restaurant be staffed properly? 1 server with 16 tables is un heard of! Especially when u have another server that was only visible 1 time in the hour I was there. 2 our server was rushed! From ordering our food to checking in on us! When we sat down we were not greeted for about 10 min. He passed by 3 or 4 times at which point he could have said "I'm sorry for the wait I'll be rite with you." No he just walked past without saying a word. 3rd he didn't even come check on us, not even once! Didn't offer refills or even when the food arrived. Good food - nice people and filled us up - you should get the hash browns they're perfect every time

Last month on July 12, IHOP celebrated its 58th anniversary by serving their short stack (that's 3 of them) of buttermilk pancakes for only 58 cents. You can barely buy a pack of gum for 58 cents! This particular IHOP restaurant is always clean and orderly. The waitresses are friendly and attentive. Even though there's an IHOP in Whittier about 1/2 mile from our home, we'll drive the 10 miles to Brea. My wife ordered one short stack while I downed two of them. They were delicious too! So, our bill was a whopping $5.11 while my cup of coffee was $2.99. Will have to mark my calendar for next year when the short stack will cost 59 cents. Woo hoo! :) read more

We went here yesterday with my family and my kids . For a nice quiet family lunch brunch . While we eating we sat close to the bathroom entrance. There's 2 male server sitting at the back on their break while counting their money tips is laughing so hard non stop for the whole time we are having lunch . It's very rude and unpleasant for customer hearing these 2 male server employees joking and laughing to the top of their lungs . It's embarrassing for ihop image having this Atmosphere and ambience like that while u are eating with your family . We are not going back here anymore . The experience is Horrible . They should get fired or get training for restaurant customer service etiquette . If they on break this 2 male server of yours should go out the premises and laugh as they want till they lose their breath at least They won't bother the customer who paid for their food to have a good brunch lunch. read more

This is a brand new IHOP and it's pretty nice. Typical IHOP food and we had amazing service on our first visit. I mean the service was so good, I wanted to tell our waitress "you know your service is great, you could work elsewhere and make a lot more money." Eat inside. The experience is excellent. All around. Service, food, staff, temperature of yummies, friendliness, etc. are always consistent and is the best IHOP I've ever been to. Hands down, dine in at the IHOP Brea rocks! Thank you for incredible service. However. Today I ordered an online pick up order for the first time. A senior citizen two by two by two, the club on marbled bread with hash browns, and a raspberry cream cheese crepe. Man, we were excited. Firstly, the website wouldn't let me use my $5 off coupon. It wouldn't even let me create an account to sign in. Secondly, I arrive timely and pick up my order. I inquire if I have everything which brings me to thirdly! No hash browns, the crepes are like rubber so I had to pick em up to eat em, the sandwich had tomatoes which I specified online I didn't want and looked like it was "thrown together" (yknow whattamean)... Perhaps today at 1:35P was a wonky day, busy, slow, guests were mean, staff are humans and people too and they have lives outside of work...I don't know, but damn, my online order was horrible. My family and I were totally shocked! And disappointed. I will never do an online order here ever again. Shortly thereafter, I had to grab food for my family. Tell me how bad the food must have been if I had to grab food elsewhere! Don't get me wrong. This IHOP is amazing-inside. It's a place that remembers people, greets & seats with a smile, pours out cups of coffee in a splendiferous fashion, and doesn't disappoint-inside. I thank you all for a wonderful experience each time we dine in but the online order experience needs some TLC. I mean, I didn't even receive a receipt inside at pick up and the order looked like it'd been there for a minute. Upon pick up, I felt like I was bothering the staff. (I swear, I'm not bothering anyone, I'm just paying to eat!) Still a five star for all of your amazingness from previous inside dine in visits but please, for the love of a rubbery crepe and a wonky sandwich, please revisit your online experientials. Perhaps online ordering isn't for everything. It certainly wasn't at IHOP Brea today. And I express this because there are some realllly cranky, ungrateful diners aka people aka customers out there. And if they get a crumby order, they'll be mean about it. And seriously, for a forsaken rubbery crepe, we don't get better by becoming mean. But I'll be back-inside. I grew up with IHOP as a "senior" hang out spot. It was usually a last resort breakfast place. Since they added burgers to their menu, it peaked my interest. The location close to Brea Mall was one of the higher rated ones on Yelp. I took a few of my clients visiting from out of town for breakfast. Hamburgers and Pancakes it was! The classic hamburger was delicious! The meat was cooked perfectly and the vegetables were fresh and yummy! Paired with a side of small pancakes and their original syrup, my clients and I were very happy. The waitresses were all attentive and very kind. If something was out of order, they went out of their way to get it right. I appreciated the attentiveness, especially while the restaurant was so busy. I have been here many times and I always give this restaurant new chances, but I cant believe I ate here and the portions are for Children. They care more about the money they are making then giving the restaurant good service. The workers look so depressed working here I live in Brea and see new faces so much. I can tell no one can manage to work here and who can blame them. Often in nights servers are working alone, and I've seen them running around cleaning everything. Thats not a life to be honest. I feel so bad especially on the weekends during rush hour it was such a long wait. For now on I'm going to La Habra or Black bear diner. Lh has so much better service quicker and bigger portions. Came back to this ihop. Manager Charlie remembered me from a past incident I had at this location which he had yelled at me in front of my son for making a complaint. This compliant had nothing to do with the past but with the service. This man Charlie again yelled at me and insulted me in front of my son. He was so upset still about a past Yelp review which was true years ago. Told me to take my medication. Even the servers know he has an anger issue. This man is not a people person and has extreme anger issues and is very condescending and insulting. I will be contacting management. read more

This restaurant looks like it's under new management, even uniform looks different. The servers seemed short staffed and overworked. They still manage to put a smile on their faces and provide good service even when they're running around like chickens with their heads cutoff. I don't see familiar faces (employees) in the establishment anymore either. I wouldn't blame them if they decided to go work some place else . Went in for the "Happy Hour" special, we were handed menus and I asked for the "Happy Hour" menu, we were handed different menus with the "Happy Hour" promotion written on them. Two of us ordered from those menus, one of us ordered from the regular menu, we had one hamburger, one omelette from the "Happy Hour" menu and one Turkey sandwich from the regular menu, two coffees, one soda and cheese sticks. Our bill came to a whopping $68. The "Happy Hour" menu did not have prices on them, just states in very fine print "items starting at $6" When I spoke to the manager, he was rude and kept pointing out the very small print that stated "prices starting at $6" . This is the biggest misleading deal I've ever seen! $18 for a mushroom and spinach omelette, $15 for a Turkey sandwich!!!! There was only two items in the "Happy Hour" menu at their claimed $6 price. No apologies for the misleading menus, no explanation when we sat down of the specials, specially when we specifically asked for the Happy Hour deals. No wonder IHops are closing all over the place! Customer service from the manager was the worse! I had to literally ask for him to listen to my complain, his voice was loud and he kept talking without even trying to listen to what I had to say. They get two stars for the outstanding server. I ordered one of their new berry salads. The lettuce included the core of a head of lettuce and some brown rotten lettuce. They offered to take it back and remake it quickly....my entire party of 12 had finished by the time I got my salad and surprise the lettuce was the same. They graciously took it off the bill but that didn't stop me from having stomach pain and feeling sick for most of the day....never going back read more

I didn't step foot in an IHOP for over a decade but a friend recommended I come here so I paid a visit. I'm very glad that I did. The service is really top notch here. I've only eaten the chicken fried steak meals in my two visits but they are better than the Black Bear Diner that I used to frequent. And you can't beat the service. Did I say that already? Online ordering timing is not accurate! It gave me one time to pick up the order and I had to wait an extra 15 minutes.

I was forced to find a different way to order as IHOP's app after over an hour, continued to have MAJOR ISSUES! So I finally found Yelp I could order from. I placed my or for IHOP and we still hadn't received our order after almost an 1-1/2 hours. I called IHOP and they said the GrubHub driver CANCELED MY ORDER!!! Now it 8:30 and we STILL HAVE NOT EATEN! I then called GrubHub and they said they show its out for delivery. It wasn't! An hour and a half late?? And WHY did I never get not even ONE email update????? GrubHub gave me a refund and a lousy $10 credit?!?!?!?!?!?! As you can see, we are beyond angry! I told customer service GrubHub owes us a GrubHub CREDIT for the inconvenience we've been put through in the amount of my order! He refused! Our party of 7 plus 2 kids tried out this new branch. It was raining when we came so the place was not crowded and we got seated fast. The server was friendly, helpful and placed our order in no time. Didn't wait too long for our food either. We had the New York cheesecake with strawberry stack, caramel Bon Bon ( buttermilk pancake layered with dulce de leche cream then topped with drizzle of caramel sauce and whipped topping) and the pumpkin pancake combo with eggs, hash brown and turkey bacon and links. My husband and I decided to take our kids out for a family dinner and chose IHOP. We were seated all the way back of the restaurant which we didn't mind since we had 5 kids, we didn't want to disturb the other guests. We were greeted by our waitress, I forget what her name was but she was nice but not really knowledgeable about the menu when we had questions about the menu. We ordered appetizers first while we waited for the main course. Food took so long and trust me I have a lot of patience. What was worse was that my food tasted dry and bland. I ordered a skillet so I didn't end up eating it. My husband ended up eating it but he had to add sauce for flavor l. My husband ordered a salad that was bland as well too. If I could give a 0 Star I would. I always say that if an establishment has a Leader/Manager that is unprofessional with lack of empathy and customer service skills, that is an absolute reflection on the rest of the staff. And well I was right. Manager Charlie not only lacks professionalism he gains the title of an ignorant pompous jack ass. Whom which he was proud to announce that he has been in Customer Service his whole life, doesn't have the slightest clue on dealing with difficult individuals. Yes, I called myself difficult because I was very heated with the situation I was placed in. First off my food was cold, even my hot tea was warm and the tea wasn't tinting the water. But whatever, my son was happy to spend quality time with me so I let that go, and our Server Maria was very courteous (I nominate her as manager). The only employee there not corrupted by the Manager(yet). The kitchen obvious lacks in attention and working efficiently. I placed an order to go as well for my other son when we got our dine in order, we finished eating, paid our bill and I still had to wait for the to go order. The clerk that rang us up asked how was everything and I told her that the food was cold. Oh I'm sorry and kept going with the transaction. Which is fine. Whatever! Came home, gave my son his order and he notices that the special request of no cheese wasn't fulfilled. At this point I was upset. I didn't want to compose myself. I had already bit my tongue during my experience there. I called and asked for the manager. I was told no one was working TODAY! I hear that as at all today 10/27. I told the lady I was just in there and I saw a gentlemen servicing the register is he not a manager? Oh well he's busy right now. Which is it I asked? She kept getting tongue tied, so that's when I felt I was being played with and told her my unsatisfactory visit but because my voice was elevated, even emotional and i did use 1 vulgar word, she ended up hanging up on me. Which only made my blood boil more. I called several times again and they kept answering and hanging up on me. So I went down there. Before speaking to a employee at the location I called corporate to let them know. I was still on the phone when I decided to march in there and have them fix my sons food. After a while Manager Charlie comes out with his"I don't care for your complaint but since it's my job I gotta ask for the cameras" look. I told him and he was quite pleased of his employees demeanor on how it was handled and told me that corporate will just hand him my complaint so it was no big deal. It wasn't going to be taken seriously. He also said he felt bad for my children. Mind you, I did not use vulgar language, however my voice was elevated because CHARLIE was being very rude and was antagonizing me, provoking me to take it to a higher emotional level which I did not engage. I did however get my food from him and I left, and got on the phone once again to let corporate know what he said about me calling them and how it was a waste of time because the complaint would not be taken seriously. In conclusion, as long as Managers like that are running establishments in that manner, there are always going to lack detail, professionalism and empathy. I would of had more respect for him if he would have said he wasn't in the CS industry that long. The fact that he has done it his whole life, which is quite the exaggerated term, then he should absolutely know better. Needless to say, drive to La Habrá if you want to eat at an IHOP. This location and it's unprofessionalism has existed since they opened. I should know, after all I am a Brea resident that has visited this location a few times and still the disappointment. Should've gone to our regular IHOP in La Habra...So we waited 40 minutes to be seated when they told us it was a 20 minute .........when we got seated, they gave us a table they was to big for our party.... We ordered our drinks and food right when the server came cause we knew what we wanted and the kids we're hungry ....we waited over 20 minutes for food and some of the food was missing! If we wouldn't have asked for our soup it would've never came ....like my sons drink that never came....I understand your busy but hire more servers to provide better customer service !!!! read more

Horrible service, thought we would come here considering it had a four star review. When arriving we didn't get greeted and after being seated, no one attended us. Our table was dirty, the booth seat wasn't clean either. Even when you enter it didn't seem to be that clean. The waitress was efficient but didn't seem to care about being there. She said she would give us a few minutes but took over 5 to come back for the rest of our order. Once the good came she was more attentive about refilling or drinks and so forth. No issues on the food as I usually go to IHOP but it's more of the weird service today. I came in with my family, ordered food and food came a couple of minutes after. The weird thing was as soon as I took my first ever bite of the order, the waitress just comes in and hands our bill and said that "this is for your convenience and take your time". I don't like making a big deal of something but that just seems a bit rude as if you don't want us to stay there long for giving us the bill as we barely started eating. I started looking at the other table near us and we came at the same time and they didn't have the bill as they were eating their food.
