Great beer, great friendly and prompt service, excellent experience on a nice day, left a lot less stressed than when I arrived.

FREDERICK, MD - Stopped by this brewery along Carroll Creek east of downtown on Saturday mid-afternoon and was glad we did. One downside, no flights that day, so we had the strawberry cheesecake sour and the coffee stout (both $7 drafts). Both were tasty - the stout bitter in a dark coffee way, but not overly so, the sour really let the cake flavors through with a mild bitterness. Well done. Both beers were in these plastic souvenir cups. Ate from a food truck. Inside had a couple different guys with acoustic guitars playing; we sat outside. Later that night a rock band doing covers was inside. Place seemed popular; pretty crowded. Lots of seating inside and out. We'd go back for the beers. read more

Idiom Brewing is an excellent brewery in downtown Frederick near several other local breweries. Here's why we loved it: 1) Drinks: They have a variety of local beers, including a very tasty sour. The TVs above the bars rate each drinks and describe the notes. Very helpful! 2) Space: It's HUGE! There's an outdoor space, several rooms inside, and several bars. 3) Games: They have games for tables to play! 4) Food: There's a food truck outside and food menus scattered throughout the space. The only complaint was the service. It was very slow and unfriendly, but it was also very busy. I am sure they are friendlier when there isn't high volume. Used to be our choice for a brewery. Love the selection and the atmosphere. Unfortunately they no longer allow dogs inside since they started serving food. We enjoyed bringing our guy with us and meeting the other dogs.. Guess this will now only be a place we go when the weather is reasonable outside, as long as the patio is open. read more

A solid brewery in downtown Frederick. It has a really cool vibe, huge indoor space, food truck out front. We tried several beers on the menu. Most of the dark beers, some of the fruity sours, etc. We got 6 oz pours of everything, and most were only $3 a pop. A great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. read more

Anytime I'm in Frederick, I have to visit Idiom Brewing. Great location with plenty of street parking and a beautiful view of the creek. The staff are super helpful and accommodating. The inside of the brewery is also nice to sit in if the weather does not permit sitting outside by the creek. There are plenty of tables in two big rooms. Dogs allowed! The beer is excellent - I've tried many different styles and enjoyed them all. Definitely try the Sticky Sweet if it's available. They usually have a food truck during the day or you can bring your own. The merch is nice too. Highly recommend visiting this brewery!! read more

FYI, for soccer, World Cup and USA fans, don't go to Idiom Brewing, Frederick, during any of the games, they have a no sound on sports policy on their TVs, even though they did turn on the sound during the 1st USA game, but refused to do so on the 2nd, even though the crowd when asked, yelled yes, when asked if they wanted the sound on, so sad. Owner was contacted, but still refused and claimed he will give the staff a talking to about the 1st game with sound on. Stopped in here for a little après-ski after spending the morning at Whitetail and it was absolutely packed, but there was plenty of outdoor seating with a few heat lamps. The Emperor's New Clothes (Russian Imperial Stout) was soo good on a cold day and it's 10.2% ABV, so you're feeling great after one. My boyfriend had the Staturation Point (Double New England) and really enjoyed it. There was a food truck parked right outside and we had a great lunch. I loved the beer here! It's a pretty big space with an outdoor area and was definitely busy on a Saturday night. They had some interesting beers with a lot on tap. My favorite was the marshmallow beer- Darkest Hour I think? I loved it so much I got a 4 pack to go as well. They had a couple very good smoothie beers too. They play music, but it was low enough to have a conversation. The brewery is a little set back from the street, which I found nice. Visited Idiom Brewing for a Friday evening drink. There were quite a few people there, so we couldn't find a table outside. We sat indoor, just below a large screen that allowed us to watch some of the olympics that were in progress at the time. My wife and I each enjoyed the beers that we chose. There were food trucks outside and the food looked good, but we were not there to eat. The restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere. Our server at the bar was a bit curt, but there was a line of customers waiting. I prefer more patient service at breweries where there can be questions that need answered to choose the right drink. Overall a good experience. Will probably be back, but thankfully there are many other breweries in town. read more

I love the interior design and how close it is to the stream. for you IPA lovers, this place has a wide range of IPA options ( my boyfriend is a huge fan of IPAs and he loved sunny side). Came out here on a Fall Saturday morning after finishing up a hike close to Frederick. It was quite busy as expected and we almost didn't find seating for our party of 8. But thankfully, one of the staff members opened their garage seating in the back. It was quite warm that day so we didn't mind sitting close to the outdoors. Love the vibe of this brewery! There is exposed brick and it was quite cozy. I wish there were more cashiers as the line got considerably long. This was particularly annoying when I had to close out my tab. I ended up getting two different sour beers that were recommended by the staff taking my order. I don't know if it's because I'm used to DC prices. But they were incredibly affordable. If I had the time, I would have stayed longer. They don't serve food at the bar but there there are food trucks and other restaurants nearby. Overall, would highly recommend for a brew while exploring Frederick. read more

My wife and I were attending a car meet nearby and decided to check this brewery out. "Off Your Gord" and "Holy Mole" were incredible. I bought cans of both. "How 'Bout Them Apples" was also incredible, but I'd have gotten in trouble had I gotten another four pack! Great staff. Great location. Idiom has a crazy atmospheric outdoor area. Tables with umbrellas, not just spaced apart but separated by planters and next to the creek. I could sit there all day, good beer or not. They have a huge bowl of water for pups and all staff were friendly. I got the what gose around comes around, a wonderfully named beer that makes you pronounce gose correctly :). The beer wasn't overly sour or overly fruited, really just a nice beer. Hubs got the off the rail and it was also excellent!! A nice hazy IPA, not overly bitter and nice fruit notes. While I've been here before, the manager on duty handled himself very unrofessionally and extremely disrespectful to my friends and I. We sat outside and drank the competitions beer. We made an honest mistake by sitting in the wrong section of the patio. We were finishing our beer and burger, (you know enjoying our Sunday). We would have bought a beer from Idiom as well. We were abruptly disrupted after a server spilled a beer on our French fries. Mgr came over and told us we had been asked to leave, which we had not up until that point. This is my friend and I's go to in Frederick as far as breweries go. The atmosphere both inside and outside is always fun - I recommend getting there earlier than planned to secure a table, because they fill up quick and you won't be able to get a beer unless you have one. I love the outside seating especially during COVID as I'm still iffy on sitting inside anywhere. As for the beers, their rotation is seriously the best I've seen. Every beer or drink I've had here has been good and I can't remember there ever being one my friend or I have not liked. The saddest thing is that some of their amazing ones are on rotation so they go so quick! I had a pineapple one two summers ago that they haven't brought back and I miss it so much! Still, any of their current options are always solid. It's a fun time, the people who work there are super super nice and fun to talk to, and you can't go wrong with the beers. Great beers and great atmosphere. The staff were friendly and courteous, the beers were fresh and there were plenty of different styles to choose from. The building is an old mill style building right along a creek, there is outdoor as well as indoor seating. We have had the pleasure to have food from Boxcar Burger food truck and The Guacamole food truck which were delicious! I believe that every month a portion of a specific beers sales are donated to a local charity. There are also 2 other breweries in walking distance. Totally loved the relaxed vibe of this place and the staff that were so awesome (thanks for some free brews since we were getting married in a few months!!) Idiom Brewing is one of the many breweries located in DTF. They have their own little space for parking, which in DTF is a very nice perk! They usually have a food truck right outside on weekends which is convenient and it is a stop for the Frederick Brew Bus. The service is fast and friendly with a decent selection on tap. I prefer sour's and they always have at least 1 or 2 on tap! They have games available to play while you drink/eat and a decent amount of seating. Unlike some breweries, there's also good seating here for larger groups. There's outdoor seating behind the brewery too. Overall, this is a fun spot to go to on the weekends! read more

Literally the worst service I've ever had at a brewery. Presented them w a completely legal ID from out of state but since it was "vertical" they wouldn't serve me or my girlfriend (who gave them a horizontal ID from Maryland). After the stupidest interaction I have ever had w customer service we sat outside w our group. I decided to have a couple sips of theirs and after 20 minutes or so some guy came out picking up our drinks and telling us to leave or he'd call the cops. (Even though the cops would have been able to tell I had a legal ID). Embarrassed in front of my girlfriends friends. Within 5 minutes I got up and walked back to our car to wait for them. As I walked by, the guy was already calling 911. This is legitimately one of the worst experiences I've ever had in my life and none of the employees did anything to try to be more understanding. Instead they decided to play the victim and act like some alcoholic was berating them at 5pm on a Saturday. Do not go here. If you want a better brewery there's literally one right next door.
