a glass of beer on a table

This small, but mighty brewery had a lovely selection of interesting brews. This was our 1st stop after Showroom which is right across a small street and parking lot. I had a couple of fruited sours. They had high ABV, if you're into that, but also tons of flavor. My favorite was Rich & the Giant Peach. I was delighted by how pronounced the peach was. Would definitely come here again!

Why haven't I reviewed this place before? Maybe because I'm usually to be found enjoying this place and (more likely) it's beer. The smallest brewery in town since Jugtown closed. But it really punches above its weight in the quality of the beer it produces. High volume stuff! I think the lowest I've seen is 6%. It doesn't taste like you're drinking beers of 10% until you get up to leave. It's then when you realize the potency of their beer. And wait where did the time go??? To say I love this place is an understatement. In fact on just my second visit I made the very easy decision to become a member. Membership gives you 20% off your purchase, two free crowlers a month, a free pour of new realists on the opening weekend. And more importantly a chance to support this place and all the good work they do to keep us inebriated. Only gripe is that the Milky Way is not available at the moment. Sweet baby Jesus is that beer good! Pure ambrosia!

We had a day-date checking out 4 of the breweries in the Frederick area. Had a drink at each of them but this was the place where we couldn't pass up having a flight and then another drink. There were so many unique drinks and wanted to try them all. When we first walked in we were greeted by Kate who told us more about the brewery. Most breweries in the area are micro breweries but this is more of a nano brewery. They're constantly rotating brews and don't have one that's always on tap. There were two good movies playing to check out as well but I don't remember what they were. Overall, our favorite brewery in the Frederick area. Really looking forward to our next trip back.

FREDERICK, Md. - In a strip mall north of downtown. Ample parking. Smallish inside but also some outside seating in the back. Wife and I had 8 oz. pours of the imperial blonde strawberry fruited sour. Both had a smooth, almost creamy mouth feel. Both pretty good. We'd return.

This is a solid brewery with beers for all taste buds. With good IPAs, Sours, and a delicious limited releases, there is always something good to drink here. Standard price for a beer, so nothing out of the ordinary there. Eternity and Orange Crushed were my favorites from our last visit. They always have new ones so stop by often to see what they got! Dogs are allowed up front taproom and in the back patio, just not in the main tank room. We hung out and talked with the bartenders about the beers and had a great time. My only critique is that I wish they filled growlers.

Probably my favorite MD brewery. They say they focus on brewing big beers and mean it. They're about an hour away from where I live, but the SO and I make the trip out at least 3-4 times a year to indulge in their epic selection of Barlywines, imperial stouts, and Belgian strong golds, strong darks, and quads. They also maintain a rotation of bold ipas including dipas and neipas. Also the staff are incredibly fun and the venue is small, warm, and intimate. If you are into dark, robust, rich beers and Belgian style ales, give this place a visit! They allow outside food and are located within walking distance of a few different eateries. Given how powerful their beers are, I recommend bringing food!

I like this place. Very friendly, it is hard to spot from the outside because it is in a crowed strip mall. The beers were excellent. But be warned, most of the beers are 10 to 12 ABV but they do it well.

We were greeted immediately when we walked in and you could tell many of the folks there were regulars - like a modern Cheers vibe. My personal favorite among the beers was the En Fleur and we really liked the Penny Pincher and the Irish Stout they had. I even tried my first breakfast stout there (though I probably will never have beer for breakfast in my wiser years)! It is in the same space as a burger spot, which I think is really smart. We will definitely be back!

OMG; OMB is so freaking good!…read more Frederick has a wealth of local brewers, and Olde Mother is consistently at the top of the heap. The taproom at OMB has a warm, Cheers-like vibe (they don't know my name, but I'm working on it!). Their taps feature a rotating selection of light, sour/fruity, hoppy, dark/malty, and non-alcoholic beers. I'm a fan of their various Kolsches, and their stouts are "interesting" (I enjoyed their Morning Ritual Golden Breakfast Stout this week: looks like a lager, with a maple syrup taste that was really refreshing. Guinness it wasn't!). They also offer cocktails and wines for those poor people that can't appreciate a well-crafted, well-poured brews (pagans!). Pours are generous, prices are reasonable, value is great. They even have a selection of board games so you can while away a cold (or hot) evening by yourself or with friends. But wait: there's more... OMB shares space with Backslash Burgers (which was recently renamed from "50/50 Burgers" for what sounds like trademark reasons. Yelp hasn't caught the name change yet. You'll have to look them up under the old name for my (5 star, baby!) review. TLDR: amazing 50% beef/50% bacon smashburgers cooked to order with your choice of toppings, or you can choose from several very interesting regular offers. (If you like heat, try the "I Can't Feel My Face" burger. I dare you...). Sandwiches can be ordered as single or double patties, and can be made with chicken. Large groups can be accommodated, and there are regular events (bands, Night Markets, even a "Paint Your Pet" night are on this month's schedule) to help bring in thirsty and hungry hordes. Trivia Night is every Thursday, and it can get raucous. OMB shares a parking lot across the street with Gravel & Grind bike and coffee shop. It's not easily handicap accessible, with a few steps separating OMB and BB, and since both are self-service that could be a problem, but it's a great place to make helpful friends, no? The hours are also a little quirky for a pub (Monday-Saturday 11AM-10PM, Sunday 11AM-7PM). So, if you find your way to Frederick (and you should!), stop in for a great brew and burger. The inside was very messy, the board games all messy and the merch rack needed some attention. The indoor seated room smells musky and the setas were all messy even though no one was in there because we were all at the patio. The patio on a nice weather day is perfect, and there was live music as well. A pizza truck outside and a good crowd of people. However, it was a day that needed more than one overwhelmed beertender. The lines at times were out the door. Went in for a second beer but the kolsch cans were not opening, the line became longer as the beertender tried her best to get a few open with no success. Ended up ordering the same beer as there was no other one on the menu that I prefer. Besides her needing some help, it seemed she was not supposed to be there past a certain time and that was reflected while she processed the line. Eventually she got a can opener and I was able to try the kolsch that turned out to be better than the Pilsner as I expected. Overall it was an ok experience at this place. As far as entertaining the kids, they offered a lot of good inside game options including corn hole, connect four, a gigantic jenga (that the kids totally loved), and a sliding puck game.
