Midnight Run is still my favorite brewery in the DMV... and I've been to many. The flavors of the beers are unique, unlike any I've previously encountered. They don't taste like your typical beer; they're elevated to a culinary experience. Sounds weird, but it's true! The menu changes frequently, so be sure to get a crowler of your favorite while you're there. Also, don't sleep on the type of beer because you think don't like it. You haven't tried their version. I'm a strict sour girl, but I enjoyed a variety. Definitely ask for samples, and pro tip: Ask if there are any yummy beer mixes. You'll be blown away. read more

This small, but mighty brewery had a lovely selection of interesting brews. This was our 1st stop after Showroom which is right across a small street and parking lot. I had a couple of fruited sours. They had high ABV, if you're into that, but also tons of flavor. My favorite was Rich & the Giant Peach. I was delighted by how pronounced the peach was. Would definitely come here again! read more

Why haven't I reviewed this place before? Maybe because I'm usually to be found enjoying this place and (more likely) it's beer. The smallest brewery in town since Jugtown closed. But it really punches above its weight in the quality of the beer it produces. High volume stuff! I think the lowest I've seen is 6%. It doesn't taste like you're drinking beers of 10% until you get up to leave. It's then when you realize the potency of their beer. And wait where did the time go??? To say I love this place is an understatement. In fact on just my second visit I made the very easy decision to become a member. Membership gives you 20% off your purchase, two free crowlers a month, a free pour of new realists on the opening weekend. And more importantly a chance to support this place and all the good work they do to keep us inebriated. Only gripe is that the Milky Way is not available at the moment. Sweet baby Jesus is that beer good! Pure ambrosia! read more

We had a day-date checking out 4 of the breweries in the Frederick area. Had a drink at each of them but this was the place where we couldn't pass up having a flight and then another drink. There were so many unique drinks and wanted to try them all. When we first walked in we were greeted by Kate who told us more about the brewery. Most breweries in the area are micro breweries but this is more of a nano brewery. They're constantly rotating brews and don't have one that's always on tap. There were two good movies playing to check out as well but I don't remember what they were. Overall, our favorite brewery in the Frederick area. This is a solid brewery with beers for all taste buds. With good IPAs, Sours, and a delicious limited releases, there is always something good to drink here. Standard price for a beer, so nothing out of the ordinary there. Eternity and Orange Crushed were my favorites from our last visit. They always have new ones so stop by often to see what they got! Dogs are allowed up front taproom and in the back patio, just not in the main tank room. We hung out and talked with the bartenders about the beers and had a great time. My only critique is that I wish they filled growlers. read more

Probably my favorite MD brewery. They say they focus on brewing big beers and mean it. They're about an hour away from where I live, but the SO and I make the trip out at least 3-4 times a year to indulge in their epic selection of Barlywines, imperial stouts, and Belgian strong golds, strong darks, and quads. They also maintain a rotation of bold ipas including dipas and neipas. Also the staff are incredibly fun and the venue is small, warm, and intimate. If you are into dark, robust, rich beers and Belgian style ales, give this place a visit! They allow outside food and are located within walking distance of a few different eateries. Given how powerful their beers are, I recommend bringing food! read more

We went opening night just for a quick beer and weren't disappointed. We had the time loop and white chocolate, both of which were really good, and plan to return to try the rest. (As a side note, the beers all have a fairly high abv.) The space is nice and has plenty of parking. It's on the smaller side and was pretty packed the night we went, but they had just opened so that's to be expected. Looking forward to a second visit. read more

At first glance the strip mall brewery did not impress me, but I think all their pride is on the inside. The tasting room is nicely structured and the person running the bar was an owner. So I was able to hear about there adventures into becoming a business. Recently I have been trying to visit more breweries and often I find that many of the beers are similar at each place. Midnight run has put together a great selection with each tasting different, so each person seemed to have their own favorite. However all were great. I recommend going and trying a tasting flight.... then grab a growler and enjoy with some friends read more

Amazing locally brewed beer that is the best in Frederick, Md without a doubt! Flavors are clean and crisp and out of this world. The vibe is welcoming. The owners are very down to earth people that love to talk about what they do and what goes into the brewing process. So far my favorite beers have been Gingerbrent and Timeloop! They have a small selection of beers and a lot of them are high ABV (white sexual chocolate, I'm talking about you). You hear about hole-in-the-wall pubs, little places that don't look like much on the outside but are secretly amazing. Midnight Run is the brewery version of that. From the outside you'd never expect to walk in and try some of the best, most unique beer in Maryland. Midnight Run specializes in high gravity (read: High abv) beer. Don't go in expecting an unmemorable ale - they carry a wide variety of very different styles, and most of them pack a punch. The first time I visited, they had their Cherrywood grips - a smoked belgian blonde on tap, 11.5%. It was delicious, tasted a bit like a campfire. It isn't at all rare for the brewers to be there in the tap room, and they'll be happy to discuss their beer or just to chat. I also tried their ​white sexual chocolate, an imperial german kolsch,12%. It was sweet, chocolatey, and complex. One of the perks of high ABV beers is that the flavors are generally richer. Anyway, whether or not these high ABV beers are your thing, you won't find a selection like they offer anywhere else around. Also, Frederick brew bus stops across the street at Rockwells (also a respectable brewery), so if you ride the brew bus, seriously don't miss stopping in. read more

The staff is super awesome. Nice relaxed environment with awesome tunes playing. However the stars of the show are the many unique beer flavors and selections they have. I don't generally go to brand new breweries, because I like to give them time to grow before making a judgement call. Also, they only offered four beers, so it almost didn't seem like it would be worth the drive, but what they did have sounded intriguing. Since they were located within a strip mall, parking was a piece of cake. Their set up is rather small, but we managed to find a couple spots by the door. I ordered a flight of all four for my wife and I to share. Their "Dubbel Penetration" was probably my favorite -- both for the flavor and the name made me giggle like a little school girl. It certainly didn't taste like 10%. It was dangerous, so when we finished our flight, I chose the 9 oz. pour instead of a full one. The guys working behind the bar were super friendly and even swapped brewery stickers with me. I'm anxious to see what they come up with next. read more

This is a hidden gem of a brewery in Frederick. You might drive past it dozens of times without realizing it, but it's definitely worth stopping in. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but the Orange Crushed got me. My husband, the beer connoisseur of the family, liked everything he tried, but the Milky Way Almond was one of the best beers he's ever tasted. The two gentlemen working there were very friendly and helpful and made us look forward to our next visit. read more

It is a nice cozy brew pub, however, the selection seemed to favor strong (I'm talking over 7% ABV). Most were indeed flavorful which is not typical with stronger beers, however, having one or two 5 - 6 % ABV would have been good. If you're looking to try some flights of craft brews this would be a good place to start. I took a growler of "Devil's Teardrop" 11% ABV......not bad. read more

I've been waiting for MR to open since they were a Brewery In Planning at the 2016 MD Craft Beer Festival in Frederick - it was definitely worth the wait! I've been to Midnight Run a number of times since it opened in late 2017 and can say that it's the home of my favorite beers in Frederick. There's a reason it's common to see people from other local breweries and tap-houses frequent Midnight Run. MR has been putting out new beers regularly with 8 on tap when I visited last. They focus on BIG beers that typically range from about 6.5% to 13% ABV, but the crazy thing is that they don't taste like high-ABV beers usually do - not boozy at all. One of their latest releases is a Belgian Tripel @ 12% ABV (The White Devil) that's incredible. They offer flights along with multiple sized pours and you can purchase a growler to go or bring in your own to fill. If you're looking for a brewery to try in Frederick, make sure Midnight Run is on your list. You won't be disappointed! read more

Plenty notes about the unassuming storefront. So, let's move on. These guys make some fantastic beers! They aren't anywhere close to light. They are thoughtful and interesting and robust and surprising and ...and...and. Clever names with great stories aside, the flavors of these brews are great centerpieces for conversation and an adventure for your tastes. Don't be scared away by the high ABV, they are served in glasses that let them breath and prep each sip for maximum flavor. Ok, enough of that it will soon seem like I'm looking for some comp beers. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The owner stands LITERALLY, by his product and is almost always there. Now some stuff to know before you go... MR doesn't have a food menu, nor a food truck as is becoming increasingly popular, but you can order a pizza from the place either on the left or right end of the sidewalk. I prefer the place on the right as you exit MR, but that's just me. I suggest you order a large and be gracious with people you meet in the Brewery. It's just a lot of fun and always seems to end in meeting fun people and laughing a lot. One last thing....if you wonder about the decor....just read the explanation on the wall...you'll just have to smile and enjoy your beer............UPDATE!! Wow! MR, you have done a great job of creating a legal speak-easy! Decor is great. Beers continue to be exceptional! I enjoy the kind greetings when my girl and I come in. It's nice to feel so welcome.
