This is a very nice little shop with lots of options. We didn't like the mead we purchased but that has nothing to do with this business. I especially liked that they also sell gift bags to pair with wine purchased as gifts. I would love to return. I had the wonderful opportunity to go to this establishment with my wine friends from AWS (American Wine Society) Frederick Chapter on Friday, 3/8/2024, for a private wine event. It was such a fabulous wine tasting. The Owner, Mark, was so friendly and knowledgeable and his assistant, Darius was super helpful and friendly, as well. It was my first time coming to the wine store and I felt so comfortable. Sometimes, going to wine stores and wine events can feel a bit pretentious, but not here. Mark really make sure everyone has a great experience. Often times, people think that a good quality wine has to be expensive to be good, and that's just simply categorically not true. There lots of great wine options at various price points, but what I love and appreciate about "STB" is that they curate really great wines at an affordable price point. I am a member of Wine.com, and I pay for the club membership and have wines selected for me at random because, I like to try lots of new wines all of the time, but it can be expensive. So, I decided to join "STB's" wine club because, it's affordable and I'll still get to try more wines that are really great value, quality, and have been rated really high and not run the risk of breaking my bank. That's really great, and I prefer to support local businesses that support our local economy. That makes me feel really good! Plus, this store is super cute in Historic Downtown Frederick and I love the charm that it adds to the city. read more

I loved the alley candle-lit walkway, friendly service and charm this place exudes. Weekly complimentary tastings (Fridays) and they also offer a small selection of snacks. I've been here twice so far. First was when they were just getting ready to open and I got a tour of the interior design business and the wine store that is connected to it by the very friendly owners. I recently went back for a dog friendly wine tasting and once again, the owners could not be more gracious! They were very knowledgeable about the different wines and had an excellent description of the taste before I tried it. The alleyway leading to the store is gorgeous, with a beautiful garden and vines running up along the brick walls. I love how easy it is to maneuver inside the store to exactly the type of wine you like as each room has it's own category. I headed straight to the sweet whites and the dry Riesling I sampled. They have decent prices and appears they have some sales on specific wines each week. The store is not just limited to wines, they have some fun and unique beers, too. The shop itself is down a small alley that opens up into a beautiful garden with ivy and flowers. The shop is beautiful and they way the wine is displayed makes it easy to see all of your options. They often do tastings where you can try a variety of wines or even craft beers and learn about the different styles and what makes them unique. The price range is great and seems to be about $10-$25! You can get a bottle for $10 here and know that you are getting something good. I first discovered Spin The Bottle while purchasing a gift certificate for a wine and food pairing's class and after attending the class I quickly became a loyal customer because I not only enjoy the people that run this establishment but I really appreciate the quality and realistic pricing of the beer and wine selection they offer. When you walk into this establishment, you get more than a nice bottle of wine or a decent selection of beer at a decent price, off-the-shelf. You receive a genuine, warm welcome as well as knowledgeable recommendations. This establishment had a booth at Frederick's "Alive at Five". My wife enjoys white sangria and made an offhanded comment in gest that she was upset the vendor did not have white sangria. It was a very brief interaction with the three ladies at the booth and my wife went about her way with her friend. What she believes to be the owner followed her down the street and stated, "You don't have to be such an asshole about it". Stunned, my wife and her friend stood in disbelief at the interaction they just had with the individual who was also manning the booth (male). My wife and her friend returned to the booth to clarify what happened (an offhanded comment made by an individual who had already had a couple of drinks) and why he felt the need to chase her down and verbally accost her. The male stated she was the 10th person to inquire about white sangria. Unrelenting, he continued his verbal defense of his business and had my wife not walked away he would have continued. Having a bad attitude or a bad night is no reason to treat potential customers in this fashion. Clearly my wife and I will not be patronizing this establishment and will spread the word via social media and other avenues. read more

You know when you see a sign for a store, and your curiosity is sparked? You think to yourself, "Maybe I should just take a peek?" Well, that's what my boyfriend and I did on a rainy summer Saturday. We walked in and were greeted by the owner (so bad with names). The shelves are floor to ceiling with wine. And, the prices are great. Then there was a room for beers. I'm not a big beer drinker, so my boyfriend grabbed the Rhinelander and Boxer beers. I admit I stole some of the beers. So good. The owner gave us samples and knew the background of the wines and beers. I like to know the history/story of what I'm drinking. Even though this shop is off the beaten path of Market Street, it's worth it. Can't wait to go back! read more

LOVE this place- it feels like a hidden gem. It is my favorite place to buy wine in Frederick. It is clean and well curated with excellent selections at a variety of pricepoints. The owner is very nice and knowledgeable. We were able to pick up a few bottles ranging from $10 and up. We mostly only buy California and Oregon wines (yay USA) and really enjoy the reds from the Russian River Valley. They had a great selection to choose from. Brand new & specializing in wines under $25, scratch that, GOOD wines under $25. The selection may not be huge like some big retailer, but the selection is good & interesting. You're going to find something you've never heard of in here and I'd bet you'll find something in that category that you're gong to love. Marc, the owner, really knows his stuff and will have something perfect for you, even if they don't have 50,000 bottles a la Total Wine. Personally, I'd rather shop at Spin the Bottle and get fantastic service and great prices with a smaller selection, than do the whole "big box" thing. The shop is down an alley behind Patrick Street Interiors; just look for the yellow sign...they're across from the Post Office. They're still new & haven't even had their official grand opening, so I'm sure it will get even better (which is why they get 4 stars for now). Really love the place, Marc knows wine, and I WILL be back. read more

He has helped us or our friends select wines for parties and occasionally facilitated the party tasting. He will work with you to order special wines.
