The ambiance of Frederick Wine House reminds me a local Total Wines & More store. It has a large selection of wines and liquors and everything is well-organized. When you enter, they do have some specialty wine bottles on sale in the middle of the aisle. One of the female workers was kind enough to guide me to the aperitifs and sparkling wine section. I could tell she was happy to help, which is always very welcoming. The prices are also very comparable to Total Wines, which is much cheaper than most liquor stores. They have aisle for different categories of alcohol from, liquors, wines, beers, aperitifs, and even mixers. I used to love this store. I drive from Gaithersburg just to load up once in a while. I've purchased several of their signature Maker's Mark bourbons. I forgot my ID. My faulty. But, they would not budge. I had several hundred dollars of stuff for a party the next day. I had a picture of my license on my phone, front and back. Wouldn't take it. Wouldn't let a fellow patron purchase my cart for me. I have since researched and it is not a legal requirement to scan. In fact the Maryland legislature is considering a bill to outlaw scanning. I will NEVER go there again. Be warned. read more

Love this spot! They have a huge variety of beer and wine, they're typically cheaper than other liquor stores in Frederick, and the staff is really nice and helpful. Located right around the corner from Costco in a barn-like building. They have a large selection of everything and anything you are looking for, to include some allocated items placed in glass cases. The employees were very knowledgeable and eager to assist. Parking is not an issue as they have their own lot. I came to the store around 3:20pm to pick some wine as I always had although I live 20min far. I support small business during this pandemic and I will continue to do so. I don't normally like to leave bad review and I have never left any bad review for any business because I'm in retail and I understand how difficult it can be sometimes. Today, Around 3:20pm I had 6 bottles of wine and my cousin had 2, total of 8. I normally spend around $150-$200 or even more at your store because of the selection you guys have. I approached the counter and the cashier said " Do you have an ID that is yours?" I was shocked and replied " why would I have Someone else's ID and that I will never have someone else's and I was super shocked of the approach. I took out my credit card to pay for the total and I simply asked him " Wouldn't you check an ID for credit card to make sure it is mine and he replied , if you are a theft then you're good because you are over 18. I replied to him " that is not how you should treat your customer and he replied " sorry if I hurt your feeling". And I replied " I'm giving you guys a service and that is not how you should talk to the customers " he replied if that is the case the I should leave because I was wearing a hat" . I asked him what is his name and he replied " Kevin" and he ignored everything else. Here is the thing .. I should never been approached that way and I feel that this Is Something need to be addressed . I don't want to use the being racist card because it is 2020 and it shouldn't be it. Disappointed in prices. Everything I compared was a bit more expensive than other smaller local liquor stores. Selection is good but I will go elsewhere for a better price on the selections I know I can get at the smaller stores. (Example was Aperol - for a regular-sized bottle they were $3 more than any other store I had bought this same product at in Frederick. Given they are a large warehouse format, the expectation is that they would be more competively priced. read more

The liquor selection is decent, but the customer service can be inconsistent. About one in five times will someone ever speak to me when I walk in this store. I like to be respected at places that I spend decent money and support. It never fails. When I walk through the door either I get looked at like an alien, or the employee is staring out in to space and playing on their phone. Customer service etiquette is needed here. Most of the staff were wearing masks, however, what appeared to be the manager or owner, was obliviously having a full fledged conversation with a patron in the front of the store without a mask. Forget the wine, you can get that almost anywhere. This is THE location for hard-to-find import and microbrews. Since this is a new store, the floor is still clean so I allowed my jaw to drag for several feet as I perused their Christmas beer display. This is my bad experience here. It is 2023 and implicit bias or racism should not be tolerated. Do not treat black customers as if they won't buy or can't afford a product like a white customer. I am disgusted by the terrible woman who asked me if I wanted to taste some samples of some of the products a few weeks ago. However, she completely and egregiously dismissed me when a white woman walked up. She turned her attention to help the white woman when she was not done speaking to me and assisting me. She completely dismissed me so rudely to service a white woman. This is the disgusting and abhorrent implicit bias that is sickening and evil. I wanted to taste some of the other products but she felt the white woman was more important. Guess what! She's not! I am a child of God and I am just as important as a black American. You really made me feel like you wanted to make me feel that day. Less valuable as a customer! It's sad! It's hatefu! It's cruel! Racism doesn't belong here anymore. It's old! It's backwards! So here goes: I visit the area once or twice a year to see relatives. I have always gone here for wine and beer and have found the store to be very friendly, reasonably priced and having a great selection of beers and wines. Today I was disappointed. There was a young gentleman there whom I asked for some assistance in picking out a red and a white wine. I was looking for sweet wines. The young man apparently found my taste to be too proletarian. He was as helpful as it was possible for him to be, given his more refined palate. The problem was the attitude. He was a bit impatient and dismissive, apparently because a sweet wine was not up to his standard of proper wine appreciation. Wow, a real wine store in Frederick. I knew there had to be one somewhere!! They did just open 7 weeks ago, so maybe they are pioneering ... Anyways, it's a nice little place. It's not huge, but does feature a well appointed selection, from great value wines to some harder to find, pricier stuff. You won't find a display case full of first growths or cult cabs ... but who cares. You'll find plenty else to catch your interest. In the limited interaction I had, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable enough to do the Amazon thing (if you like this, you might also like ...). The Frederick Wine House is one of the best new businesses to open in Frederick in the last few years. They feature wines from all over the world- and if they don't have it- they can usually order it. The Wine House has (free!) wine tastings every weekend- many of the wines featured are under $15.00 a bottle and taste like a lot more than that! It's nice to be able to "try before you buy!" The owner, Gary, is great. Very knowledgeable, friendly and organized. We head there almost every weekend to see what he has open for tasting or just to say hello. Leslie is great too- really knows her stuff. I can't say enough good things about this place and can't see myself buying wine anywhere else! read more

A bit over priced. Decent variety. However they will always ignore you even when you ask for help, they will encourage you to leave. Especially the elderly white man and girl with pink hair. They sit there and socialize without regard for any customer or service they may need. Theres also two other younger guys sometimes. A heavyset guy and a lean guy with glasses and black hair. They are always working and helping. They carry the store on their shoulders and do it with the most amount of pleasantness they can afford while working with the others. Unfortunately I have to pick carefully when I will shop and pretty much only buy stuff when the nice guys are there.
