Their whiskeys

Stopped by on a whim while in the area. The parking lot is a little cramp just an FYI. The tasting room is spacious and has a nice bar top. We had the pleasure to meet Todd who was our server. This guy was out of the park amazing. I love when you get to meet people who relocated and can give insider tips on where to go l, but still can connect from a shared location. They offer a few whiskeys a vodka and 4 or 5 gins. One whiskey was awesome and I bought it. It was the matchstick. We also picked up a gin, which isn't really a gin but it's fantastic in mixes. It's called Gardners gin. Get some of that and experiment like Todd told us. This place also has a bar in another building which is very cool and has plenty of seating for an old brick building. This place is a must visit and seek out Todd! This guy is the best and will even give some restaurant offerings.

My friend and I had a great time here! We did a tasting of whiskey, vodka, gin and liqueur. My favorite was the whiskey but they are known for their gin which was pretty tasty! Alex was our bartender and he did a fantastic job!

Todd was fantastic --- so knowledgeable with!

We had an absolutely fantastic experience in their tasting room! We were a very large group and Todd was an exceptional guide--- so knowledgeable with such an interesting presentation. The McClintock Distillery is the first organic spirits maker in Maryland. So much interesting history. We tasted at least 10 different bottles of spirits, from whiskey to vodka and gin. The quality is exceptional. I especially liked the Forager Gin. We were all seated at the bar, and the ambience of the tasting room was great-- cheerful and very comfortable, great vibe. There was also a wedding going on at the same time, so we didn't get to see that section of the distillery. All in all, it was such a fun experience and I would highly recommend it.

My girlfriend brought me here for one of their tasting experiences for my birthday but sadly we didn't get to participate. She called a few times to confirm they'd be open and available, but when we arrived there was a private event so the tasting room was closed. They must've booked after she called so there's not much that could have been done but it was still disappointing. The bartender in the bar (Brie) was very kind though and walked us through a little tasting of our own! The cocktails were very strong and they had some nice seasonal stuff on the menu. Decided to leave with a bottle of their new bottled in bond whiskey which I really enjoyed! Would love to come back one day for the tasting experience and tour since the bartender gave us a free coupon.

LOVE this place. All the cocktails we've had here have been amazing, but I especially love the espresso martinis. Even better at happy hour prices!!

OMG......AMAZING!!!!! Friends recommended we stop in and try their gin.......their recommendation was spot on. This place is a gem! There is the distillery and tasting room and then they have the Back Bar for cocktails. We visited both, and I will review the Back Bar seperately. The distillery and tasting room is in a historic building that was formerally a garage. We were greeted right away and directed to the bar for a tasting. Tastings are $5 and that is credited back if you purchase something. You can taste their full offerings.....rye, bourbon, vodka, gin and liquors. Everything is organic. They also have an assortment of shrubs. We tried it all!!!!! And I seriously liked it all. They have 3 varieties of gin- each unique with an amazing botanical mix. I am a gin girl, these gins are perfect! The rye is made with red rye. Melissa helped us with our tasting and she is WONDERFUL! So personable and knowledgeable. I loved learning about the history of the disterilly and the care that goes into each of the spirits. We will be back!!!!! My rating rationale for beer, wine, or spirits: +1 Service +1 Atmosphere/Vibe +1 Taste/Quality (Flavor, aroma, and overall quality of the beverage) +1 Presentation (Glassware, garnishes, and visual appeal of the drinks) +1 Selection/Variety (Range of beer, wine, or spirit options and uniqueness of offerings)

This is a tasting room with some really nice cocktails crafted from their own distilled spirits. It is a MUST STOP for me whenever I am in Frederick! Their gin is one of the best, seriously something you can just sip on and makes a fantastic dry martini There's no food here so don't come hungry, but if they have excellent, approachable spirits with friendly staff who are eager to lead you through a tasting with all sorts of suggestions for using their products. Not into a tasting? Have them shake up a craft cocktail instead! And don't be deterred by the "Closed for an Event" sign when coming down the little driveway - that is alluding to their larger space. The tasting room is still open around the corner Also - there is no onsite parking. You need to park elsewhere and walk down.

It's a cool looking distillery that feels like a well kept secret! It's in a great location, walking distance from plenty of parking! The service is superb! My bartender Jennifer was very enthusiastic and informative! Drinks looked and tasted good!

We always stop in here after brunch and hitting the Emporium nearby. We love the drinks and the family/friendly vibe. Definitely stop by and do a tour and tasting please!

Tasting room

A great place to visit and drink. I came here with my gf, sister and brother-in-law. This was my third visit, and this time, we did a tour and tasting before getting drinks. The person heading the tour/tasting was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and made it very enjoyable. After the tasting, we went to the lounge and had a couple of drinks. I highly recommend this place

Tasting room right off the canal. Bar in the back which is closed on Tuesday. 10 or 11 different liquors to taste. Rye, Whiskey, flavored vodka, gin's and liquors. Interesting and fun. No food. But you can bring your own. Lots of nice restaurants just a couple of blocks away. Bottles are expensive but worth the tasting experience.

If you are visiting Frederick, McClintock's is a must! It is a short walk from the walking path and surrounded by amazing eateries and other beverage crafters. I highly suggest grabbing a carryout order from a local restaurant and skipping over to McClintock's to enjoy a self-selected cocktail pairing. You can't go wrong with any of the cocktails--the bartenders are the best. Seriously. The best. The bottles of alcohol they are known for and the cocktail I recommend trying: Forager Gin (try the Spicy Ginlet), Gardener's Gin (try the Scurvy Preventer), Reserve Gin (try the Ryder), Epiphany Vodka (try the Sweet Heart), Oro Vodka (try the Tropical), Maryland Heritage White Whiskey (try the Mint Boi), Bootjack Rye Whiskey (try the Frederick Lemonade or Dirty Boots), and Matchstick Bourbon Whiskey (try the Bourbon Refresher or the Honeydew Blooms--people also enjoy the Chicory). You can book a $5.00 twenty-minute tour on Saturday (12, 2, 4, 6pm) or Sunday (12, 2, 4pm) or visit the tasting room between Tuesday-Thursday: 12-6pm, Friday-Saturday: 12-8pm or on Sunday: 12-6pm. They do offer private and group tours upon request. They also have two classes available. On-site, they offer a Distilling 101 Make Your Own Whiskey from Local Grain course (great Christmas present). They also offer courses through Frederick Community College: Gin 101, Maryland Whiskey 101, and Spirits Sensory at Frederick Community College. The distillery's patio at the "Back Bar" is dog friendly. There is no food on-site, however, feel free to bring food (just no outside alcohol).

I tried McClintock spirits at festivals and farmer's markets all around Maryland, but I'd never been to their actual location. After lunch at Bushwaller's I came here for a tasting and happy hour cocktail. Despite a sloped (downhill) entrance, the space is bright, airy, and welcoming. The staff was great! Super knowledgeable and kept me engaged the entire time I was there. I really enjoyed most of their selection; all of their whiskey was good and their vodka is the most inoffensive (definitely a good thing lol), I've ever tasted. If you like gin, theirs is top tier and don't get me started on the seasonal cordials *chef's kiss.* After doing a full tasting of all of their items I headed over to their bar area to order a drink. The menu is really imaginative and creative; there were some unexpected flavor combinations. I ended up ordering a gin-based drink that was both interesting and delicious. Really great way to spend an afternoon in Frederick.

TLDR: Fun rum focused distillery with creative cocktails and a quirky themed interior. Great stop…read moreduring a Frederick bar crawl. Stopped into True Standard Distilling during the Frederick St. Patty's Day bar crawl and the place was absolutely buzzing all day. As a rum distillery, everything on the cocktail menu leans rum which makes things interesting, especially when they remix classics that usually feature other spirits. I tried their take on a negroni and it was surprisingly really well done. It kept that familiar bitter and balanced profile but with a unique rum twist that made it stand out. The interior was unexpected but in a good way. They were still fully committed to a Valentine's Day theme with pink everywhere and a massive faux chocolate candy wall right when you walk in. It honestly felt like stepping into a mini Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, which added a fun and memorable touch. Despite the crowd, service was quick and efficient. The bartenders clearly knew what they were doing and kept drinks moving without sacrificing quality. Overall, this is a great, high-energy stop if you're spending the day drinking your way around Frederick. Definitely worth popping into, especially if you want something a little different from the usual beer spots.

The place seemed a little smaller then what was seen in pictures, however the Decor did not disappoint- very festive with glistening balls on the ceiling, a Santa in the corner adjacent to distillery drums, packages wrapped on the wall, etc. My friend and I got one of the last seats available- the place is really popular and had lines prior to Sunday. There really wasn't a food option but could be ordered and delivered. I opted for a rum apple beverage and we got the Cocktail flight. Of these-zombie, Mai Tai, Painkiller, Puffer Fish and MAC-Nut Chi Chi the latter was my favorite. Mac-nut Liqueur, pineapple and Coconut (contains nuts) very tasty- even tho it said "summer" Vodka- very refreshing for Winter. Highly recommend- a little pricey but fun vibe; even some beverage containers e.g., Santa's boot were available for purchase. The owners's influence was a trip to Puerto Rico and I can relate! Check out their story and website!

I was last here almost 9 years ago. Oh boy, how different it is!…read more I came expecting a relatively small scale operation. So you can imagine my surprise when I saw a huge building with their branding. The interior is spacious, with multiple tables for tastings, each with its own bartender. There are far more options to taste than you can try in one sitting, but your server will help you narrow it down to 4. I liked to loved everything I had. They even had some weird options that I was tempted to try but I went for a more traditional flight (although I definitely want to return for the coffee whisky). The only option I wasn't in love with was the smokehouse, but that's just a personal preference. After my tasting I learned they were doing some kind of slushys as well, so I got one of those. I thought it was a very fun, informative experience. I'll also have to try the "Proof" kitchen as well.

They don't do the special cocktail evenings like they used to at their last location anymore, but Proof (attached to this building) serves cocktails featuring their spirits.
